The Varanasi Wake-Up Call

Media folks are supposed to have their ears close to the ground where politics is concerned. Some of them claim to be such big “experts” that they predict events instantly. Bad politicians take at least 2 years to taint themselves in corruption or misdeeds; some careful ones take 20. But in their quest to realise their own political agendas some media crooks wanted instant gratification without the patience to watch and observe. That’s what they did when Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP got a good number of seats in the Delhi election. They declared him the messiah. They declared him the man who would be king. Here’s the end part from the post “Polls 2013 - And the losers are…”

Immediately after the state results were declared on December 8, 2013 the MSM was thrilled that there was finally someone who could challenge Narendra Modi. The Gandhis have run aground. Arnab Goswami started off on December 9 with “Is AAP now a threat to Modi”? Others were rubbing their hands in glee in hope that AK will deal that final blow to Modi. None of the media pundits were willing to accept that not only is AAP a small player restricted to Delhi but also that the Delhi performance was helped by a corrupt Sheila Dikshit govt and the BJP’s sleeping beauties in Delhi. It also hinged on a lot of tall promises that AK made to the poorer section of voters. AK took oath as CM on December 28 and after 49 days of non-stop nonsense resigned with a fake excuse. Gone were his lofty claims of fighting corruption or prosecuting SheilaD and other corrupt politicians. AK turned out a moron who started believing the stupid stories in the media. He believed he was the David who was slated to slay the Goliath. Some in the media, particularly folks from AajTak, NDTV and the CNN-IBN group, spared no efforts to breast-feed AK into believing he is the royal baby who would be king. It was PM or nothing!

Well, you know the story since then; AK in Gujarat, ruckus all over, then violence by his thugs in Delhi, then Mumbai and Nagpur, more violence and nonsensical rants. Life goes on. Of course, in all this while he openly threatened Modi with a challenge from anywhere the latter contests the LS election. AK roared he would challenge Modi and show the world what a great hero he was. All this, till Modi’s candidature from Varanasi was announced. Naturally, someone had to test the waters for AK. He sought a poll from the locals in Varanasi to decide on his challenge but that is yet to happen. In the meantime the Macaulay Sisters from the unholy trinity in media, Barkha Dutt and Sagarika Ghose rushed to Varanasi to test the waters. They literally landed up on the Ganga waters. Let’s watch an edited excerpt from Barkha first (4.07 mins. There is a lag between video and audio and that’s from the NDTV site itself):

What Barkha really did was quickly run through a single street in Varanasi to seek opinions and then settle on the Ganga with two guys and a discussion with politicians in Delhi. Apparently, she didn’t hear what she would have liked to hear. Even in that one street she came across a former AK supporter (with the bike) who had sound advice for AK. He says “glass once shattered can’t be put back”. BD talks of religion, roads and so on but the former AK supporter clearly says AK has failed and should perform before seeking votes at Varanasi. Barkha pre-empts his sound-bite claiming “confused” supporter but the man seems in no confusion at all. Ordinary folks reflect this wisdom which seems to be missing the media folks all the time in their studios. The rest of the discourse is Hindutva or soft Hindutva and all that is usual monologue by BD. If Barkha was there, the other Macaulay twin had to follow. Here’s Sagarika Ghose (5.41 mins):

It is amazing that even folks in far-off Varanasi are talking of and desiring the Gujarat model; the model that some blind analysts and media folks like to trash as nonsense. It’s the very model that AK has been screaming about as rubbish. A lady makes a good point about a nearby town having an airstrip for private use but no railway station. That is something the Centre can solve even if not all the local problems. As for development and roads that both Barkha and Sagarika talk about, it is dependent more on the state and local govt. This is worth special attention because most of the Hindu pilgrim towns in India, especially in the north are in total disrepair. In contrast the southern Hindu pilgrim towns are far better maintained and managed. Whether it’s Varanasi or Rishikesh or Puri the Hindu pilgrim centres deliver a lot of money which can easily be ploughed back but the state govts seem to have different priorities when they should be making it as comfortable as possible for visitors and pilgrims.

The folks at Varanasi explain how their society is made up of small entrepreneurs and just need the support to perform well. That’s what they expect from Modi having heard the Gujarat story. When Sagarika tries to repeatedly rake up the “communal” agenda the people dismiss it as media propaganda. One hopes the blind people in the media learn from these voices. People are simply not buying the media propaganda. NDTV, CNN-IBN, TimesNow and the others have been trying very hard to paint the Varanasi choice of Modi as a “safe seat”. Except these morons everyone else seems to understand the political impact and implication of Modi’s choice. It wasn’t as if Modi would have lost from Lucknow or Kanpur or Patna but the choice makes the political statement he wants to make. And Modi is a politician first and not a stupid media anchor or panellist.

Read the last para from the first pic in this post. It recalls: “Arnab Goswami, acting like the regular circus clown, had a stupid question at his 6pm show on December 8: “Is AAP now a threat to Modi”? Well moron, get used to it! All of you are a threat to Modi including Congress, SP, JDU, RJD, RLD, DMK, CPM, AAP, Third Front, Fourth Umpire, CBI, Salma and Sabrina, IM, LeT, JuD and the Indian MSM collectively. He’s still standing. You’re the ones who have fallen to the pits”.  Oh yes, the “sickulars” are trying very hard to present a single candidate to represent their Army which is what the media folks have also been egging them to do. The Congress has even tried to put up Sachin Tendulkar to battle Modi. It’s good the cricket hero wisely declined. Elsewhere, more misdeeds of AK are leaking. He is now alleged to have indulged in electoral fraud. His nautanki and fall was foreseeable for everyone except his cronies in the media and his own party.

Barkha and Sagarika aren’t the only ones who dashed to Varanasi though. There are others from the print media too who rushed there to test the waters. There is “No Modi Wave” they all claim. Fine! One can’t help those who don’t breathe and those who are blind. The rude awakening at Varanasi has Modi’s opponents hunting for their candidate but like I wrote on December 9 the media folks are the ones who are the losers. Modi is still standing

  1. Excellent post as usual. You have become a quite an influential SM Journo (as evident by people who RT your tweets). Your tweets are more interesting to read than the so called "news" by paid media. Time for you to start a youtube channel? ( of course the reservoir dogs will call you an Ambani agent if you start one)

  2. Both the video clips show that Aam Admi of India is both clear and respectful. He is clear about the issues and respectful even to the 'Roman Agents'. But how long this can go? Aam Admi is going to lose patience. MSM be careful!

  3. Given the political discourse - of lion taming a tiger (sulking) - both lion and tiger must understand the ground echoes and synchronize the political reality of seismic wave - or maybe a political naivette like me does not understand a bit Varanasi - Vadodra vs Gandhinagar - Bhopal???

  6. How many have noticed the mock satisfaction of Sagarika while getting the responses from people. He voice and face clearly showed her leanings. She was really disappointed. She for sure was unable to digest the responses. She tried asking and exploring all types of questions to elicit some so "favorable answer", but the truth prevailed. Kudos to the guy who stated his opinion about AK. He says clearly AK will not be getting more than 5000 votes. An important observation he made, was the media orgasm on AK. He categorically stated that media should stop this trash. Awesome Piece.....

    1. If the Macaulay sisters are not happy with the responses they get from the public, why on earth should they air it, unedited.? The answer to ur findings lie in this.I am sure nobody is above board when it hurts ones self interest. There were ardent Modi fans who chided him for his Toilets before temple remark.Goes to show that parochialism is all pervading.

  7. Great Post ! MSM has always created/questioned communal issues when people are actually at peace and literally DONT GIVE A SH*T about such things. We all want progress and development n thats the dream of ALL. Maintaining harmony is up to people too not just Gov.

  8. Oh dear...oh dear....I won't keep saying time & again that your posts are
'super excellent", matchless, par excellence, etc., etc.....That is given...Once advise...why don't you sart a News Channel on your own. I have seen many people requesting you to do the same. Well...money and resources are an issue...no doubt...but I have also seen people offering you whatever help you might need to do so...even without your asking for the same!!! Believe me all you need to do is to just express your willingness...you will see everything will fall in place...People asking you to do so can do "anything" to help you if you start a Channel........you have to just believe in yourself that you can do this.....you will get massive support from all the right thinking people....My modest opinion is that at lest ...I repeat AT LEAST..... 100000 people will donate you AT LEAST Rs.1000 per month...this comes out to be Rs.10 Crore per month...It is sufficent to run a channel....and once it is on air...additional income will follow....most importantly other so-called news channels will loose their TRPs....that is sure...Just think about it....

  13. Congrats, Excellent Article. I strongly feel that the non stop MODI bashing by some of these Media houses has alienated people against them (Media), on the contrary people feel strongly about him as a strong leader. All this has helped Modi than hurt. People are completely switched off with 2002 riot topic, Secularism. Modi's development model has resonated across the country, and Congress misrule has helped the message of development reaching to people loud and clear.

  15. Barkha and Sagarika (BS) rest on melodramatic discourse about victimization and vulnerability, seduction and manipulation, "propaganda machines" and "weapons of mass deception". Barkha's Buck stops and Sagarika's Chaupal chatters, here and there, are a hog wash.

"We live in what is called a democracy, rule by the majority of the people. A fine ideal if it could be made to work. The people elect, but the party machines nominate, and the party machines to be effective must spend a great deal of money. Somebody has to give it to them, and that somebody, whether it be an individual, a financial group, a trade union or what have you, expects some consideration in return. What I and people of my kind expect is to be allowed to live our lives in decent privacy. I own newspapers, but I don’t like them. I regard them as a constant menace to whatever privacy we have left. Their constant yelping about a free press means, with a few honorable exceptions, freedom to peddle scandal, crime, sex, sensationalism, hate, innuendo, and the political and financial uses of propaganda. A newspaper is a business out to make money through advertising revenue. That is predicated on its circulation and you know what the circulation depends on."

I am happy to see that the people of Varanasi are very worldly wise. They are so clear about the MSM functioning! Wonder if they read your blogs there, MediaCrooks LOL

May be, after elections... Else, it will create more confusion to the NDA supporters who doesn't have the time to get into the details. The words 'tolerance' & 'mutual respect' (thanks to Rajiv Malhotra) can be easily explained with LKA and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

  23. Through this article, you have totally stripped the MSM naked by methodically listing their attempts to prop up duds like Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal (even has beens like Keshubhai Patel LK Advani, in intervals) to take on Modi.

The Macaulay Sisters (MS) from their respective channels of "Colonial Cousins" on a vacuous boat exhibited to the whole world that their journalist pursuits of hounidng Modi for last 12 years has yielded absolutely no results. In short, their influecne or impact as journalists on viewers has been a big fat zero. Ordinary people from UP and Bihar, in spite of being derided as 'Bhaiyyas' display more intelligence, pragmatism than these dodos who sport degress from Columbia university or fulbirght scholarships.

By reading your blog which primarily tackles media, I have also stumbled into a personal realization. That ordinary people who have access to very ordinary or no education at all are more intelligent and wise than these English Laloos (to borrow your term) in media.

  26. hi ravinar & all

the problem has never been 'The Evil'. the problem has always been - who will fight with 'The Evil'. Evils - congress, communists, aap, news media, ngo's and many-many more like them - had been there - has been there - will be there. therefore, 'The Target', 'The Goal', 'The Lakshya' should be to have a 'Real Fighters' there - all the time - everywhere and most importantly, those 'Real Fighters' should be equipped with 'Far more better weapons' than those 'Evils'. Then only will we have our 'Glorious India' - our 'Powerful India' - our 'United India'.

'Narendra Damodardas Modi' is truly one of those fighters in present india - who is fighting all alone for us all and still standing tall among all. now, his only requirement is those weapons - unfortunetly - which he is really short on - and for that if possible - we all have to become those 'weapons' - in whichever form or figure - in every form or figure that too fast very fast.

so, get ready - get ready you all - because this time - it is either do or die for us all.

    regards

p.s : word - weapon here means 'skills'.

Read the article in nitiCentral, many more BJP workers are getting killed. No surprise not many news channels are covering this.

  29. Besides all this, I think it was a master stroke from BJP to field Modi from Vadodara as well. As some Media Morons claim, I don't see it as Modi is worried about his victory from Varanasi and that's why he is contesting from Vadodara too. It's a open challenge thrown by BJP at AK. Now, will AK contest from Vadodara also to defeat Modi? If he doesn't accept the challenge, all his tall claims will fall flat on his face and if he accepts, he is sure to loose both the seats. That will be the end of AK's political future.

  32. I can now understand what the phrase "dying a thousand deaths" means. Barkha and Sagarika would've died a thousand deaths in Varanasi. For a city also known for its Ghats, that is indeed symbolic. Fortunately for the country, the place is also going to witness the rebirth of India - and no thanks to MSM for that!

  33. I am really disgusted to the levels of Modi - trashing done by B-S sisters . Its nice that the people of Varanasi gave a slap on the face by brushing aside communal tension issue as a media creation . Just loved to see their face then :)) What is this concept of "safe seat" if Modi contests from Varanasi ? Why dont they question RG's and SG's Amethi and Rae Bareilly seat selection . If they are "tallest" leaders in Congress , why shouldn they contest from Seemandhra or Tamilnadu ? I wonder why the BJP spokespersons also dont raise this point and instead they keep defending Varanasi as a safe seat . Sometimes I feel the BJP spokespersons just play on defensive and they dont go jugular for the Congress weak points

  35. Well Modi is still standing and Tall , but then I am keeping my fingers crossed . The mainstream media and its old crooks are very much there and around . And so how long will he remain standing and strong ???
Now they ( media ) is bringing in new issues to hijack the agenda and focus vis power of 49 ( read together with Rahul gandhis women empowerment ), divisions within BJP , caste and religious agenda ( inclusive growth ) and off course AAP and AK.

I am most worried about the jaichands and Mir jaffars within bjp. These internal criminals can be very damning for bjp and narendra Modi.

narendra Modi and bjp are vastly underestimating the power of damage that the l k advani and his coterie can cause to bjp and narendra modi's march to Delhi.
the coterie of l k advani and his supporters can hurt from within in states like Madhya Pradesh, chattisgarh and Rajasthan . Bjp would be naive to assume that it will get the same results in lok sabha as it got in state elections in November 2013. The chhatisgarh win was touch and go . And advani and co in pursuit of their ambition can make them stoop to any extent including half hearted campaign , dividing votes thru rebel candidates wherever they could . The recent antics of jaswant Singh , shatrughan sinha are just tip of the ice berg.
advani could become pm if bjp and NDA gets only 180 and 220 seats respectively . Bjd, tmc and probably even sp/bsp would support bjp sans Modi. Something murky is happenning in the background and modi/bjp do not seem to be noticing that. Congress has made inroads into bjp and congress has history of breaking parties . Bjp should not assume that congress is a spent force . Congress is devious and perhaps is willingly project a weak front to make bjp complascent . Congress would do well in telangana , Maharashtra , chattisgarh , Karnataka , north east , Kerala , Andhra ( thru jagan reddy ) and possibly Madhya Pradesh/rajasthan as well( due to divided BJP)
I hope bjp gets its act right in time . And leave no stone unturned in keeping the momentum going and consolidate its voter base . For modi to become pm - bjp will have to get 240 seats at the very least . There is a modi wave and bjp needs to capitalize on that and not take things for granted .

I hope Mr Narendra Modi is reading this .

After it is known illegitimacy of AAP baby, if they don't put anybody of the worth than it would be officially known who has fathered(or mothered) AAP ,that has become headache for congress (na khate banata hai na gale se utarane se banta) and if they put than their baby's future will be doomed, because they need him for some time.
