Saint Streep Street

Donald Trump is wrong in saying Meryl Streep is an over-rated actor. She will rank among the great female actors list anytime. Trump himself said she’s a fine actress sometime in 2015. But how she got there is an interesting story. It’s just trivia but all the same let’s run through it.

Great performers seek other talents. Streep was doing average roles in movies and plays. She had also worked as a waitress to pay for her acting course. It was Hollywood legend Robert De Niro who, at his peak, spotted Streep and had her cast in the much acclaimed movie “The Deer Hunter” (1978). That movie got Streep her first Oscar nomination. She went on to win 3 Oscars in her career and was nominated more than a dozen times. For Deer Hunter, her boyfriend John Cazale (Fredo of The Godfather fame) was rejected by the studio because he was dying of bone cancer and the studio refused to foot the insurance bill. De Niro reportedly bore the insurance cost so that Streep and Cazale could live together during the making of the film. Deer Hunter won 5 Oscars overall. Her rise to super-stardom is what makes Meryl Streep a powerful voice. A power she used at the recent Golden Globes awards to rant against Donald Trump.

Now, what goes on with Hollywood doesn’t bother me as much because American politics has its own way. Hollywood is largely made up of Lefties, Communists and Fiberals as the whole of California largely is. Traditionally California has voted the Democrats. A rare act for the Republicans was the recall of the Democrat Governor in favour of Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican. In the 1950s Commies in Hollywood were hounded by Senator McCarthy and I have briefly touched upon it in my post Bollywood Sleepers.

What happens in the US in such events is usually irrelevant to us other than entertainment and our interest in Hollywood movies and stars. But Fiberal losers across the world unite, like Islamic Brotherhood. They are simply unable to tolerate the fact that Hillary Clinton lost miserably to Donald Trump despite all predictions of doomsday for Trump. All opinion polls predicted a melt-down and death of the Trump campaign. Here’s a sample:

That was the pattern of all the criminal media outlets in the US who rigged opinion polls in favour of Hillary, indecently campaigned for her and trashed Trump almost every minute. Frankly, the contest was which one would the bigger sore loser. Unfortunately, for Hollywood Commies and our own Indian Commie media the win of Trump shocked the living daylights out of them. Look at our own Propagandhini, the master of outright crawling, slavery and arrogance:

Barkha Dutt received the biggest slap of her foolish journalism as did many of her stock. The morons of Indian media wailed as if it was a big loss for them. Must tell you though, that these Commie Pigs who call others “intolerant” couldn’t even swallow the fact the sore losers of the Hillary campaign broke out in violence against the Trump win. That’s the only thing Commie Pigs know – VIOLENCE! Meryl Streep forgets all that and tries to make Trump a huge villain for having won the election and that most Americans are idiots for having voted him. This is true of Commies everywhere. If their candidate doesn’t win – YOU are the idiot. And is as true of all Fiberals Streep did indulge in some stupid lies. The highpoint of her speech was that Trump insulted a disabled journalist. That is far from the truth. Trump, comic as he is, has mimicked many people in his campaign without any references to any individual as this Youtube video shows. This is almost the same as Indian media morons misusing the “Puppy” comment of Modi as being anti-Muslim and insulting their dead. The Commie liars lost to Modi too. Among other things, here’s more of what Streep said in her Globes speech:

I do not disagree with any statement of Streep that is quoted in the pic. Yes – disrespect invites disrespect. And even better, she says “When the powerful use their position to bully others – we all lose”. And all of this sends our Indian media morons into a Grand Canyon-like collective-orgasm of thrill that someone expressed their hurt in Hollywood. Here are some samples of the Indian losers who felt relieved that their deprivation has been soothed by Streep:

Naturally, these idiots are oblivious to Streep’s hypocrisy and cowardice. She blabbers all this in an audience that is largely in awe of her. That was an audience from her same fraternity largely made of Fiberals like her. And she too was using the same power to bully others to her opinion knowing well not one in the audience will question her. This is what the Commie Pigs in our media and politics too want – No one should question or challenge them. If there were a meeting of the White-Supremacist Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and their Chief was to speak, do you think anyone is going to question him? I see Streep’s speech being in the same environment of people of the same club and not in an audience of diverse individuals or groups. Indian media too is no different from the White-Supremacist KKK. They are a bunch of goons with supremacist attitudes that scoff and spit at ordinary Indians, especially of any opposing ideology and particularly those who are Modi/BJP supporters. Streep has something more in common with Indian media goons:

Yes indeed! Just like many in our media and arty-farty scotch-circuit support Tejpal and his acts, Streep too lauded Roman Polanski who is wanted for child-rape in the US and escaped from there and refused to return. Our media is also relatively subdued on sexual-harasser RK Pachauri of TERI. So you see, these crimes by Fiberals can pass but public verdict in elections for a candidate of a different political persuasion is simply UNACCEPTABLE to them. Narendra Modi is unacceptable to them as PM. His massive win in 2014 is still unacceptable to them. That is the deprivation that drives their anger and they found Saint Streep to drown their sorrows. Streep herself is drowning her own sorrows at the loss of Hillary through her saintly speech. And like our own Fiberals, Streep too has grand illusions of Hollywood movies, much of them being crap and some people did put her stupidity in place with facts:

In India too, Cricket is watched by more people than those who watch Bollywood crap or any movie from any region. Such arrogance of being important comes naturally to Fiberals. Robert De Niro who gave Streep her big break considers Streep an extraordinary actress. I agree with that. I too admire Streep for her acting skills. But unlike De Niro (Taxi Driver or Raging Bull) there is not one everlasting performance Streep has left that I can recall. How many know that scientists analysed De Niro’s character in “Taxi Driver” before understanding PTSD (Post Trauma Stress Disorder) among army veterans? And that view finds resonance in the US too:

Paul Watson is a popular freelancer and is popular on Twitter too. Being a superstar gives you the same power that Trump possesses. He may have used it badly on many occasions but Streep too misused her power at the Globes. Last word for a “Wheeler-Dealer” like Shekhar Gupta. You and your ilk can rot in your self-pity and loss but when ordinary people speak, learn to respect them. After all, even his Bible does say “The meek shall inherit the earth”:

My admiration for Streep as an actor does not diminish one bit whatsoever because of a speech I do not approve of. Free speech is fair game for both sides. What does confirm to me is that our Indian media goons will cling to any nonsense to hate ordinary people. What the US media did during the last elections is nothing short of criminal. Same goes for Indian media. “Crooks and liars of the Indian media are the greatest danger to our democracy” was the original tagline for my blog. It is still true today. Both Trump and Modi have successfully demolished these crooks in their own different ways. No Saint Streep is going to save them

  1. I seldom disagree with Mediacrooks, but today I beg to differ. What Meryl Streep criticized Mr. Trump for was his heartless gesture of mocking handicapped person. Everybody has seen the video of Mr. Trump mocking that handicapped person. There is absolutely no comparison of American left with Indian left. There is an evangelical leader who frequently calls Islam founder Muhammad a terrorist and a pedophile and Islam as terrorist religion. American left just ignores him. Would that happen in India if there was somebody saying things like that? Would we RW stay silent if Mr. Modi shows heartless gesture mocking a handicapped person? Hope not.

Watch Meryl Streep's performance in "Kramer Vs Kramer".

    1. Same here. I totally disagree with this article of mediacrooks. Mr. Trump can't be expected to be above criticism. He should just have kept shut and devoted his energies to more meaningful things like Modi does. It seems that from now on ,the white house will be spending considerable time and energy just fighting comments from here , there , everywhere.

    3. He didn't mock the disabled reporter. It is his natural way of mocking anyone as is evident from his other videos

Your interpretation is silly. Where does MC say or imply Trump is above criticism? On the contrary he says Trump is wrong. The post is about the hypocrisy of Streep & Commie media like barking from her platform at a wrong forum. In India we say "Apni gali me kutta bhi sher hota hai" and the general intolerance of libtards to accept peoples verdict of the Trump win. You should read better.

    5. @Sonnet - The whole debate is whether she should have criticized or not. Well what if she did and what if she didn't.She didn't even name him. Shouldn't the president-elect show some dignity instead of replying to every comment someone makes and that too in a disrespectful language. From the way MC is trying to gag MS , it seems that trump is above criticism. At least the president-elect himself and his supporters seem to think so. He is already surrounding himself with yes-men and son-in-laws. He may be rich , he may be successful, he may be the president but he is still a disgusting creep. If truman brought the end of WWII , this guy is going to bring an end to the human race. Hurrah

Nobody is debating whether she is criticising or has the right to. US Constitution guarantees her that absolute freedom. You sound like frustrated Streep herself. Barking for no reason or rhyme after having lost the battle at the ballot. Obviously, you are a Hillary rooter and seems you are peeved she lost as much libtards do.

    8. Meryl Streep is just a performer...

When Performers pretend to be intellectuals, Economists, Activists...

and start opening one side of their food pipe about everything under the sun...

that is when people should set aside their awe over the performance bit and use the stuff between their ears and sift the grain from the chaff...

The problem here is we are talking about a huge population of human beings who possibly due to being a little less endowed between the ears are unable to rise above their awe about some on screen performance which in any ways is not real and just a performance...

As somebody has said...THE IGNORANCE OF THE IGNORANT IS MORE POWERFUL TODAY IN DEMOCRACY THAN THE WISDOM OF THE WISE...

    9. seeing a selective portion of leaked video do not reach conclusions. Trump is too smart to mock at the handicapped person, & no one does it unless provoked in some form or the other. One's senses can be deceived. Get the facts right before supporting Streep.

    10. Streep is an actress and actors & actresses are supposed to be dump characters & are used to recite & repeat a script that is written and given to them. They are not saints nor philosophers. If you really know anything about media, read Noam Chomsky how untruth manufactures kaliyuga truth.

    1. I hope you have more respect for our soldiers than Om Puri. Humbug and scumbag Om Puri may have been a good actor but not even worth the dust on the feet of our soldiers. He insulted our soldiers and rooted for Pakistan.

    2. Om Puri genuinely regretted his comment on our soldiers. He apologized for it and also had gone to a Martyred Jawan's family and personally beg for forgiveness from the family.

    3. If a terrorist 'genuinely' asks for forgiveness after murdering a jawan or policeman, does he deserve forgiveness?Insulting and abusing a martyred jawan is equivalent to insulting Mother India. Unforgivable, unacceptable and unforgettable. Many Bollywood creatures are just guttersnipes. We know about Sanjay Dutt, darling of the presstitutes and sickulars.

  4. Aptly put.Actors worldwide are leftists majorly. They aren't role models for anyone. They get scripts to act, they get money for it.Else they speak trash.Streep is just another celebrity loud mouth. The people voted for Trump. Actors voted for Hillary.Trump is shrewd and has clearly mentioned the biased media like CNN was working for Hillary over time. This is a rewind of 2014 elections here.Hope Trump screws Pakistan.

  5. Many movie stars hypocritically believe that they can shape society and social behaviour. They themselves lead lavish life often based on black money and drugs, but comically bat for liberty and equality. They forget that they are mere professionals like a doctor or architect. Streep is no exception to this syndrome just like, in India, we have the Khans who suffer from it.

  6. Last movie I saw of Hollywood in the cinema hall was The Jungle Book. Quoting your post "Streep too has grand illusions of Hollywood movies, much of them being crap.."
Can't agree with you more! Will never pay to watch the crap being thrown on the screen in the name of movies.

  7. I agree. Meryl Streep maybe a good Actor. She can speak on that for hours. But to use an Event like this to hit below the belt is not ok. Trump may do it. Hilary may do it. its their job. If one didnt know her better, he would say she misused the podium to win herself some publicity and hopefully a few more roles by sucking upto a largely left leaning Hollywood. Kapil Sharma tried a similar stunt few months back. Ditto Om Puri. He had earlier made a hate speech against Muslims for which i think an FIR was also filed against him. So compensating now.

  8. Every one on this planet has an opinion. That's OK. But as MC puts it just because you are in a ( position of !? Power) platform to rant against a winner is just pure hypocrisy. Streep to Amir Khan. Good actors or bad, have sense of grandeur which is actually on a very shaky platform. Indian media is a crawling heap of worms festering on tidbits thrown to them by equally dirt heaps of sycophantic brigade. A well written articulate hard hitting article.

  9. What was her business in criticizing Trump? It was not a political forum. These liberals are just looking at ways to humiliate democratically elected governments; whether it's Trump or Modi.

    ReplyDelete
  10. MC just mentioned Hollywood and worst in 1000 years slaves came out even in this forum. Imagine mentioning Bollywood and poorest of poor will sacrifice their wealth, property, wife, mother, sister to stand in the line and fattening garbage of Bollywood. Even MC seems to be conscious of these scums in our system, so he is repeatedly apologic by mentioning how otherwise great actor Streep is. All the people in their respective professions like teaching, health, defence etc. directly or indirectly serving the society but their opinions are weighted in reference to their inherent sacrifice hidden in their profession, unless manipulated. What a cheap nautanki can justify to influence sane citizens of a country by their ability to tickle base senses? That support gullible create crooks in media and it's evil cousin entertainment.

  12. Ravi

Talking of arrogant commies ending up with dinosaur eggs on their face, one very excellent example which readily comes to my mind is our very own Congi Chiddu, taling in some Congress meeting in December 2009 (not sure of the year). He said that only Congress qualifies to ask people for votes repeatedly . Then he makes the famous statement at BJP " you guys will have to wait another 10 years or more. your number will never come". and he got a huge dinosaur's egg soaked in cow dung splaaaaat on his face in May 2014..What a sweet moment that was for us ....

  13. @harsh kohli for a man in his position Trump should not be mocking anyone at all. Ravi, I am a huge fan of your work and I recommend your blog to all my friends and family. In this instance, though, I don't think Trump represents a great example for the Right.

  14. Read all of your posts and generally in agreement with your position on state of media, politicians etc. You are very wrong on this one. Trump is bad business from any angle. He is neither left nor right. He is just plain wrong.

  15. What happened to Modi post 2014 win is happening exactly the same way to Trump..

This just shows that human beings across the planet are the same in many ways...

There is a Trump/Modi/Putin axis in the making...

It is going to shake the crap out of some human beings the next few years....

It is time there was some disruption on this planet...for the better....

Change is always good for human society....

  16. It is too early to comment on Trump. Streep using a public platform to vent her views is unwarranted. It is similar to all those Bollywood stars taking potshots at Modi in India. Streep is part of Hollywood Award Wapsi & she set the tone for it. Criticize the actions not a person. There is no doubt that Hillary Clinton is corrupt & more corrupt than one could thing. She is a political schemer.

  17. She has every right to say what she said, only she could have chosen an all inclusive forum to air her political views. Its like, it is her court, the jury is on her side, the audience is her fraternity, she is the judge and here goes the verdict...Typical to prestitutes worldover. I think MC is tying to make a related point here and I agree with them.

  18. Sorry for posting in advance in an unrelated topic (at for the present) on Khangress lamenting on RBI's loss of reputation.

India as a nation & its reputation was at stake between 2011-2014 in wake of endless scams & indecision. MMS was remote controlled by Italian bar maid. How the Telgi stamp paper scam came out, no investigative report, all safe burial done with help of paid judiciary (truth never came out - all involved people died a mysterious death-read killed). With all this in background then it did not strike to Khangress to think about nation or its citizens.

It is still a mystery as how a offical seal / stamp templates were smuggled out of the Nasik printing press without cognizance of corrupt RBI personnel, which means lack of controls over its own processes. Media is also silent on it nor there is any investigation.

  19. Why the working license of Chartered Accountants or Lawyers involved in money laundering be revoked for entire life ? Why does not Prashant Bhushan take up to enact a law or Supreme Court judgment on these matters to permanently ban them practicing such professions for rest of their life, which can act as a strong deterrence.

    3. In an era of instant media the only way to draw the attention is through outrageous comparisons. ;) We have been hearing for a long time from AK in Delhi that everyone is corrupt but for him. He gives honesty certificates to everyone and whiffs every time people question his honesty. I hope Ravinar or his platform is not so small or restricted to delete comments.

  21. A little bit of introspection is necessary before calling someone overrated or underrated. You can be underrated blogger who could not be a part of the main stream media and is now ranting that the 'world is unfair'. Sounds so much like 'Yograj Singh' giving these ridiculous comments on Dhoni. People can have beliefs and opinions howsoever ridiculous they may be, you can give them your point of view with facts rather than a constructed story. IF A FROG DOES NOT HAVE LEGS AND CANNOT JUMP DUE TO IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT IS 'DEAF'.
