G-37

At a recent event in Mumbai (on August 22) I had talked about how our MSM peddles perceptions to suit their agenda. A majority of their bogus debates has nothing to do with reality or truth. As Howard Beale strongly suggests, they are in the “boredom-killing” business. The corrupt media uses labels like “controversial”, “racist”, “fascist”, “communal”, “secular” etc. to suit the agenda of their political bosses. These fake debates borrow from American formats and are mostly peddled on NDTV, CNN-IBN, TimesNow and HeadlinesToday. The Hindi channels and regional channels borrow the same format. In the last few years TimesNow, in particular, has turned these bogus debates into a major circus with Arnab Goswami as the Chief Clown. Perpetrators of lies and criminal propaganda like Barkha Dutt, Nidhi Razdan on NDTV continue this practice. CNN-IBN had to get rid of Rajdeep Sardesai and Sagarika Ghose when they campaigned for AAP who trashed their bosses. I shared the following process of how the propaganda or perception is delivered:

Naturally, there has been a lot of curiosity about this “G-37” since then on the SM and in messages to me. G-37 is a name coined by Chitra Subramaniam for the regular group of panellists used by TV channels to peddle their propaganda or perceptions one way or another. Some people have been asking for the names of this G-37 group so I thought a compilation of the usual suspects would be helpful. Here it is, the G-37:

A word of caution: It is inevitable that there will be agreements and disagreements on the names. Some may want additions and some may want deletions. That is perfectly fine. What you can do is do that yourself and create your own G-37 and check how much it matches with this or deviates. I believe a majority of the names would be common on any G-37 list. The list here is from a period of the last five years. Post-elections 2014 a lot of changes have and will likely continue to happen.

  6. We recommend that you put out the names on the right side of your blog. Let people vote / rank to arrive at a 'majority' consensus of who G-37 will be.

  7. if g 37 were denied a presence on tv channels for a week most of them would have gone stark raving mad due to withdrawal symptoms... a delicious thought. by the way , hathway scrambled the telecast of aap ki adalat featuring adityanath this morning and joined the ranks of mediacrooks.after confirmation of this , i disconnected hathway immediately. feel good now..

    1. Since the BJP govt came to power,Gaurav Bhatia has been parroting the same text over and over again. They can as well record his voice and play back everyday instead of wasting his time. Party spokesmen like him and Sanjay jha could have been kept out of the list.

  10. One of the greatness of leftist fiberals is that they are very predictable. On any topic, even before they open their mouth we know what their view is going to be.One can call it consistency or loyality to an ideology. This makes their presence almost redundant on any show.In the list, one cannot say the same with the likes of Mr. Parthasarathy , Gen. Bakshi or even Rahul Easwar. These gentlemen talk on the basis of logic. While the fiberals are spewing their prejudiced solidified mindset on all events.
Y'day on the NDTV talk show, a big bindi marxist made a remark that may win an oscar for comedy for the next 10 yrs. When reminded about the highly offensive remark made by the former Marxist CM of kerala about Love Jihad, the big bindi outright denied that he spoke what was attributed to him. When asked what the CM actually spoke she said she does not know what he spoke but he did not speak what is being reported.

  12. Dear Ravi,
I've not seen anything about debates on Rajya &/ Lok Sabha TV in your articles. Its same ther too while descussing about socio-political issues, one relief there is; "all CHEEKHO content is deleted/edited there"
All 'Self imaged/Thought (suggest better word/phrase) God's gift to Indian Secular Democracy' cronies can be spotted there too.
My choice of word for these type are
    1. SACIDS [Self Annointed (Crony) Intectuals of Delhi's Studios]
    2. GAIRI [Goad's Abhishaap on india's real intelects]
    3. SAGIS [Self Appointed Guardians of Indian Souls]
    4. or simple CIIs[Crony Inelectuals of India]

  13. Good collation, Though we should leave out representatives/ spokies of political parties such as Mani Aiyar. Yogi Yadav is now thankfully introduced as an AAP member rather than an independent liberal intellectual whatever!a few changes are suggested. Haven't seen much of Ranjona Bannerjee. Shoma Chaudhary is out of action post-Tejpal arrest (even her Twitter account is dormant). I would include Rana Ayyub instead (same thing actually, just a more friskier and melodramatic version of Shoma). Vinod Sharma has disappeared from TV. Rather we can have Sankarshan Thakur of JDU, er the Telegraph, Ashish Nandy and Rajagopalan. Hey, this is actually fun....!!!
