The Political End Of The Gandhis

There’s something common about all corrupt leaders at the top. They manipulate systems, try and destroy democratic institutions and make every effort to destroy political opponents. They keep it at it till the end is inevitable. The most prominent one is the case of Richard Nixon. He and his loyal foot-soldiers manipulated every institution and destroyed many political opponents to ensure electoral success for his second term. Unfortunately for Nixon he kept tapes of the conversations at his office which eventually caused his downfall. Whenever in trouble, Nixon and his little coterie always managed to “get around” the hurdles. They somehow “managed” it; until the US Supreme Court ordered the tapes be surrendered as evidence. Here’s a little exchange between Alexander Haig (then White House Chief of Staff) and Nixon (from his bio-pic) during the last days of office:

That date being referred to, June 23, 1972, is the date of reports a few days after the Watergate burglary (June 17). The burglary itself didn’t cost Nixon all that much but it led to the discovery of a whole web of corrupt operations. Nixon wasn’t after any personal monetary gain or wealth. Alexander Haig tells him “It’s the SC, you don’t get around it”. In what Robert Vadra calls a “Banana republic” Nixon would have happily continued. In “Banana republics” even SC judges can be bought. You just have to hear Prabhu Chawla in the Radia tapes to understand that. The Congress and Sonia Gandhi have also manipulated and destroyed many democratic institutions. You just have to know the modus operandi. The National Herald scam involving the Gandhis is one such operation. It has even attracted an IT notice for a political party lending money to a commercial business house. There doesn’t seem to be a way to “get around it” as many of the Congress and alliance ministers have “got around it” in the last decade. The question is: why were these people so brazen?

Although they aren’t showing it, it must be the biggest heartache for Congress and their clones to find that the man they wanted to burn in hell is now the PM. It must hurt them that he has outsmarted all of them to secure a clear majority in the elections. Nothing explains how the Congress hoped to come back to power or support a “khichdi govt” formed with its support than Dileep Padgaonkar’s belated confession (Read here). Padgaonkar wrote: “The dread possibility of ‘communal’ forces coming to power, we believed, would override all other concerns of the electorate”. In other words, fear-mongering, fake secularism, Muslim-appeasement and tainting opponents would help the Congress somehow control power at the centre. Media crooks like Padgaonkar, Barkha Dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai, Arnab Goswami and Intellectual Morons like Amartya Sen, Ram Guha and others hoped and expected BJP would fail to get a clear majority. Here’s part of the coterie that Sonia Gandhi, Congress and media crooks hoped would see them through:

We all know how Mulayam and Maya were continuously hounded and manipulated through CBI. DMK was a partner in crime. The murderous CPM is an “ideological” spouse of the Congress. The JDU driven by one man’s lust for power that broke up with BJP. The step-child of Congress called the AAP. The NCP that has equal number of scams to its credit. And key media crooks cleverly campaigning for Congress-UPA to return. One can recall Arnab’s non-stop slavery of Priyanka Vadra as if she was the next queen of India. SoniaG and Congress had hoped that somehow these clones would garner enough seats to either support the Congress to form a govt or they would form a govt that also includes AIADMK, TMC, BJD etc which the Congress can prop up from outside to keep the evil “communal forces” out of power. In particular, they hoped that would stop the man they wanted dead from becoming PM.

The Congress knew the tide was against it but it was this hope that they can somehow cobble up a non-BJP govt that fuelled the belief that they can “get around it”. That even if court cases came up against the Gandhis, they would “get around it”. It is this brazenness that led to many scams, including the National Herald one. The magistrate who has summoned the Gandhis and others on August 7 has observed: “It appears that Young India was in fact created as a sham or a cloak to convert public money to personal use or as a special purpose vehicle for acquiring control over Associated Journals Ltd assets worth over Rs 2,000 crore”. The DNA article linked here adds “K Vikram Rao of Indian Federation of Working Journalists states that the alleged misappropriation of Rs 2,000 crore is ' the tip of the iceberg. We are planning to implead ourselves in the petition in the court. It is a huge scandal and needs to be probed by the premier investigators of the country. This scam is bigger than Sahara," said Rao, whose father was the founder editor of Associated Journals in 1938”.

The case is not going to be concluded anytime soon and will drag on for some years as most Indian cases do. The unfortunate part about that, in this one, is that it may keep the Gandhis embroiled in a legal tangle. Years ago such a case would not have dented the Gandhis too much because of equity the Gandhi name had with people. After all, there are millions who believed these fake Gandhis are somehow related to MKGandhi. But the thrashing they got in the recent elections which resulted in a miserable 44 seats to the Congress is proof that Indians have finally woken up to the fake Gandhis. Time and technology dismantles many myths and lies. Leadership is often tested more in adverse situations than in good ones. Both Sonia and Rahul aren’t really great leaders in the first place. The latter is more a useless burden on the party. SoniaG could claim some credit for restoring the Congress party’s standing after the previous NDA govt but much of her political capital has eroded since then with the corruption taint. The third left-over Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, has shown immaturity in her political campaigns and other than emotional and childish gibberish had nothing to offer. I therefore believe that this is the end of the Gandhis politically.

Historically, the only thing Congress knew when they were in opposition was how to manipulate, horse-trade, bribe, induce and bring down govts. Every non-Congress govt in our history has been brought down by the Congress except the last term of AB Vajpayee and it is not because Congress did not try. This time, the Congress is in no position to bring down the BJP govt which has a single-party majority. This is something no politician, no pundit and no media crook ever imagined would happen. That is one of SoniaG’s biggest hurdles for a return. In case of Indira Gandhi, the serious cases against her for the Emergency crimes got wiped out because she could bring down what she called the “Khichdi” govt and return to power. The NH case is not going to be wiped out. On the contrary, one can expect more cases to follow and there is every reason why even Robert and Priyanka Vadra may also face court cases for land deals. Also, Subramaniam Swamy who is following the Sunanda Pushkar murder case has alleged that the Kochi IPL scam money belongs to Robert Vadra. Things get even murkier.

They say it’s a serious mistake to write off politicians. Well, I have done that before and I am starting to enjoy it. I predicted in “Reincarnation of Arvind Kejriwal” that he is finished and AK helped himself to doom. AK even insisted on realising his last dream of ending up in jail as that post hoped he wouldn’t. His recent utterances do not indicate he has learned any lessons. AK, of course, has age on his side and can re-invent himself if he so chooses. But SoniaG doesn’t have that advantage. By 2019 SoniaG will be 72 and given Congress claims of her health it is unlikely she will be able to cope with anymore gruelling campaigns. Even in the 2014 LS campaign she had a much restricted campaign and the gaps were made by RahulG and Priyanka Vadra. Rahul and Mrs Vadra filled the gaps quite badly to leave no future expectations from them. A senior Congress leader in Kerala called Rahul a “joker”. Even the family poodle Digvijaya Singh now says RahulG lacks temperament and avoided leadership by not becoming head of the Congress LS group.

The worst truth was to come in the form of a belated confession by AK Antony who said “People have lost faith in the secular credentials of the party. They have a feeling that the Congress bats for a few communities, especially minorities”. The confession is half-hearted. He should have clearly said Congress bats for Muslims and Christians. Sonia’s inner coterie would reflect that kind of batting. The UP results have shown even Muslims aren’t buying the Congress “fake secularism” anymore. All the elderly Congis are suddenly finding the nerve to speak which they couldn’t when they were in power. There is good reason to believe this country has moved on from the dynasty. I see no way that the Gandhis will command the influence they did in the past. They will not disappear but the last elections and current events certainly signal the end of the Gandhis.

  1. Gandhi's- The End! Wow! If only your prediction comes true as in AKs case.
I request you to write a second part to this, on how the Gandhi's can bounce back if people in BJP don't go for the kill. If they start preaching Mahatma, which they should not, can the Gandhi's bounce back. Will someone give them a life, like ABV and co gave to Pappu in 2000. Will the BJP, in fear of backlash coz of "political vindictiveness", remain silent.
Only time will tell. But one thing has to be remembered. This is a govt with single majority. They will RULE, no matter what, for the next 5 years. There are some ministers who are spineless in this govt, some with colonial mindset. If only Modiji can influx double dose of national adrenaline into their blood, it will not only be the end of Gandhi's, but also of other dynastic-politicians.
People, have given you mandate, BJP walo, go for the jugular. History will remember you for a long long time..

    1. @Prashanth - the planets are aligned for the burial of the fake Gandhi legacy.

I don't remember seeing the auspicious symptoms during ABV's regime.
      1) National Herald
      2) Vadra's deals in Rajasthan & Haryana
      3) Pushkar's murder
      4) Antony & Diggi's muted revolts.

The rotten foundation has started to shake the Cong building. It is a matter of time before it comes crashing down.

Going by Modi's record of handling power streams in his party, he would NEVER EVER let go of an opportunity to bury the fakeGandhis. I strongly believe that he is pushing hard to quickly build on his reputation at the national level (development agenda) before moving in big time for the 'kill'.

As in cricket - timing is everything.

    2. You are right. The BJP must not be soft like ABV, who turned out to be a Congi Mark 2. The BJP must give the Congress a permanent burial, nothing less. This must be a fight to the finish.

There is a restive young population who have the freedom of information via internet and social media and who will not support anyone just because they belong to a family. Everyone will have to earn their stripes or be vanquished. Its just not the end of Gandhis, its a death knell for every dynast. Next in line Akhilesh Yadav, Omar Abdulla...

  6. somewhat off the topic but analysing Modi, he made a masterstroke by keeping Sub Swamy out of ministry. He is focused on bringing the Gandhis and Raja's to their logical conclusion. This way, the govt is focussed on its development agenda, and Swamy is anyways a master of law. If Swamy was within the govt, it would have "looked" vindictive to the illiterates #paidmedia and #fiberals.

Has anyone in this country heard a Gandhi ( Indira included) make a statement or express opinions about the nation's economy, foreign affairs or national security. At best they make some sentimental appeals of empowerment, rights etc for poor or underprivileged( read Muslims) so much like any foriegn funded NGO.Till date I have not heard any Gandhi make a public statement about an annual budget for eg.I am longing to see this from decades.Yet there are morons in this country who bank on them for a future.

  9. Dear Ravi, I fervently pray that your prediction comes true; BUT I've been disappointed 3 times in the past: in 1977 Janta Party wasted their mandate in pursuing Indira Gandhi; In 1996 PVN Rao lost and the Gandhis reclaimed Congress; In 2004 AB Vajpayee lost inexplicably, leading to 10 years of darkness, under these evil rapacious Commies.
I just hope that the blessings of the Lord above remain with NaMo, so that he can once & for all lead us to a "Congress Mukt Bharat."

    1. Before doing anything to Gandhis, Two thing has to happen.

      1. Modi have to exterminate the congress eco system. The liberals, leftists, pseudo-intellectuals, and the morons in media. They act as oxygen suppliers to congress. They never let congress sins to reach public, instead they subside those sins. Once this ecosystem is curbed, Gandhis are no name in the country.

      2. Changing the cynical & corrupt mindsets of AAM junta. It is their attitude acting as a catalyst for the above ecosystem to breed on and provide the necessary nutrition for congress to survive.

once these two things are done, there is no looking back for my country.

  13. Dear Sir

A very interesting article to read. My views are however not about destroying one political party or a family of politicians etc. Its to do with the wider rot in the system - political corruption which has been vouchsafed by financial/political muscle. Apologies, if off-topic.

Whilst the actual loss to the exchequer due to political scandals/scams is yet to be determined - numbers from various sources will offer several guesstimates - I can only assume that the number ranges in tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of crores. This number differs from the actual pecuniary gain to corrupt politicians and intermediaries who enabled this. Even assuming a modest 7-10% facilitation charge to them, their pecuniary gain is still a mind boggling number!

Several years ago (c2007), I read an email that was doing the rounds with an oblique reference to a study conducted by Transparency International. It basically said that Indians had the largest NUMBER of Swiss bank accounts among countries surveyed. Further, the amount estimated lying in those accounts re: India was of the order of $500+ billion. The amount was also bigger than the remaining nine countries in the top 10 list put together! I went to the TI website but found no such report and hence I had then dismissed the claim outright.

When I revisit a time frame since our Independence and beginning with the first "bribe" – the Rs. 80 lakh “jeep purchase” by Krishna Menon – all the way through to the coal auctions scandals, I realize this is not really an unsurmountable amount, especially given the “financial value” of political scandals we have witnessed in the last decade alone.

The office of the Comptroller and Auditor General in India has highlighted several such instances and attempted to place a financial value on them. However, none of these have been pursued to their logical conclusion with the “crooks” being brought to justice and made to disgorge their gains.

It is a failure on three fronts:
    1. Political will, which is absent,
    2. Weak government oversight, since such CAG reports remain shelved until it is time to settle political scores, and
    3. Judicial enforcement, which has been compromised due to efflux of time and inability to establish “(burden of) proof”

So, what are my thoughts on next steps:

If Mr. Modi’s government is serious about tackling this issue of black money, they should bring out in the open all “corridor whispers”. Publish a list of high value cases that will be pursued by a special office with periodic progress updates. Make these a formal discussion point on the government agenda in parliament. Show no favour to anyone, regardless of their political colour or affiliation. It takes tremendous political courage but I will watch for this carefully. Especially after having read Mr. Modi’s promise to root out corruption in parliament.

Next, proceed against all known cases of political corruption and make an example of a few high profile cases – freeze bank accounts, restrict movement within and from India, Interpol driven financial red collar notices with extradition, jail sentences, etc. It is crucial that India sets up special courts staffed by people / judges who understand financial crime including money laundering.

Further, introduce an amnesty scheme with a higher tax burden, say at twice the maximum marginal rate to be extended to bring back illegal money. If the period for amnesty expires and a person is caught, then full disgorgement and a jail sentence as well.

It will take a good 4-5 years possibly more to do this. I will be delighted if we start as soon as we can!

    Kind regards
    Sumanth

the money may have already fled switzerland and even transitioned in movable and immovable assets overseas. Therefore all the more need for a very diligent SIT with smart people with broad perspective.
one would need to look at a lot many aspects than just bank accounts.
probably declare all overseas assets of indian citizens as national asset and then exclude the ones that have already been declared by individuals in their assessments.

there are no dearth of criminals in Congress – If not sonia – then rahul – if not rahul – then priyanka – hey – don’t underestimate the power of wounded ‘Naagins’ – rather pay respects to their nature – and that is even if they sheds their skin at some time period – then don’t make the mistake of considering them weak – tired or powerless – because even after that – they remain as fit as ever – they remain as attacking as ever and mind it – they do not change their taste – bite and venom even a bit that also remains as hazardous as ever – so – so – so – don’t wipe them out from the scene by the simple eraser and expect them to instill fear – spread poison & create terror even now in the nation as per their natural production and we must have trust in the satanic abilities of Congress as well – they have many scoundrels to carry the baton and take it forward as per the wishes of their Maalkin & her children and do not expect the slaves of congress to ditch her & babies even in the future whatever be their condition – good or bad – doesn’t matter – as slaves don’t enjoy that will – luxury or freedom.

and as she is the main source of drain so she has to be there as a ‘life force’ to keep the drain alive with all Its garbage – chemical waste & foul odour – so she will continue to lead either from the front or from the backroom channels depending upon the circumstances but it doesn’t make any difference to her as she is habitual of injecting ‘deadly diseases’ in the veins of our system in this manner by ruling from the shadows and she & her little ones will continue to rule as ever – come what may – without any problem and now let me remind everyone that ‘future Gandhis’ are also getting prepared far away from this clutter as Congress destiny – special thanks to Mr. & Mrs.Vadra – in short – business as usual for her even behind the bars if at all it happens and last but not the least how can we forget the most dangerous – destructive & murderous foreign powers – who won’t let their servants ‘the Chinese Gandhis’ to get vanished from the picture – who can go to any extent to reclaim their lost power and who have all the abilities – prowess & stratagems to change the situations – well – all the countries are at the mercy of them – aren’t we witnessing it in different-different major crisis occurring all over the world.

and we must remember that except ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi’ who undoubtedly is a true patriot – hard taskmaster – a proven administrator & politically the ‘Baap’ of everyone – extremely sorry to say – with all due respects to one & all – the rest of the cupboard is absolutely bare – so we shouldn’t write off the ‘Devils’ – they still have enough shoulders for the weapons to fire at their real opponents and the arms & ammunition will be provided by the World Masters and firing job will be done by their paid – slave & anti national Indian news brokers along with the moral – vocal & local + global physical support of extremists – ie. – secular muslim – christian & communist Individuals – NGOs & Organisations.

we need to wait for six months . Infact most people of this country have patience and believe in Modi ( and there is indeed no better alternative). They will give him time. He can fall on some fronts but never can he fail on the front of rooting out corruption or prosecuting the wrong doers . If he fails to do big ticket moves on getting back black money and improving economy, in the next one year, he will loose his respect amongst many of us. He may still win the next elections and elections after that - but he would just be another PM comparable to the likes of indira gandhi, pv narsimha rao, nehru, mms , abv - but not the phenomenon he marketed himself as .

to give credit to him , there have been some achievements too but which are blacked out or downplayed in main media - the recent crisis in iraq was well managed . The action against hoarders was a good signal to send out . His insistence on discipline and focus would do a lot of good to governance. There are massive investments being lined up on multiple fronts. But yes , getting back black money is the primary standard against which his performance will be judged . Many may not even forgive him ( like baba ramdev and his followers ) if there are no convincing moves on this front and quickly enough.

Do you think when Vadra was scamming this nation he left loopholes to easily get into legal net? Make no mistake they would have done these sordid deals with most carefully crafted legal protection. Nailing him will prolonged investigations and investment of resources.
Modi understands the timing better than anyone else. I am sure he will build a solid foundation of goodwill based on good governance and development before fishing for crooks and corrupts.
While his government has handled the hoarders and Iraq crisis so well these crooks, forget appreciating his government, are hell bent on projecting these good things as failure.
What makes me sad is to see even well read people behave immaturely.

    6. @Nitin S
Then BJP/NDA-2 is turning out to be AAP V2.0 even AAP V1.0 claimed 100's of pages as evidence against Shiela Dixit but when they came to power same Kejriwal asked Harshvardan to produce evidence against Shiela DIxit.

Legal actions can be started once probe finds some substantiate evidence but before that let Rajasthan and Central Govt initiate a probe and let see what is the outcome of it...

Just to oversee fast construction of Highway in the name of development why we will vote for BJP under Modi? Even Highways where constructed during Congress period also..Vote for Modi was not just for development mandate given to him was peoples expectation which is our anger against Congress and other so called Secular Parties that corrupt to be punished for looting nation exchequer and Tax payers money.

    7. @ nitin s,
stop being a blind supporter of Narendra modi on the vadra issue. On the 27th april,2014 , the bumbling jokers party and their lead joker ravishankar prasad came out with a book 'damaadshri' listing out prosecutable issues against robert vadra . Why more time is required?? Why bjp is not acting on its own chargesheet ??
so either the chargesheet was bogus and compiled for, electioneering or bjp does not have the balls to act against the gandhis ??? Why would any indian sympathise with fake gandhis/vadra (and against bjp) if the case is watertight ??? And if the case is jot watertight, why the hell did they make it an election issue.
the said joker ( RP) is now even the Law minister.
time is running out for both bjp and narendra modi. Are they waiting for some auspicious date /time to move against vadra ??? These are low hanging fruits ( like the national herald scam) , and the govt should atleast do its objective job correctly. Otherwise it would not take much for indians to discard the same people ( read modi and bjp) whom it had looked upon with faith and optimism. On corruption , Modi cannot even appear to be faltering. Not acting upon Vadra so far despite its attack on vadra during elections is unacceptable.

    10. @Devika: Is there a concrete proof/ RTI information which says that central/ Raj govt has stopped all investigations against Vadra? BTW an expose is different than a charge sheet. That Sheila D has 31 ACs installed at expense of public money is an expose about her principles and ethics. But is that a prosecutable crime? In all probability as a CM she was entitled to that discretion and expenses. Anyways the point is not this but the following.
You want govt. to 'go after dynasty' but I want govt. to first focus on development, inflation, building economy and fix the broken windows AND then go after the likes of Vadra. So for every 'YOU' there are many like 'ME' who have other expectations. Investing resources on nailing Crooks is down my list of expectations. Also in my opinion that would give a chance to media slaves of dynasty to confuse our vulnerable Junta and redirect their anger of low employment and high prices towards govt. Govt has to decide what the majority wants and work on those expectations first, and if they misread the mind of majority; they have next elections.
@Shankar: Stop passing judgement on other members.

  29. Right.Reason why we had so many number games starting from 160 + 220+.Also why there was so much of publicity about large number of darbaris not wanting Modi.Any one else would do.For any one else [ like LKA or SS] can be manipulated to return to power in 2019.With advent of Modi, it could be repeat of Gujarat for 15- 20 years for congress to remain in wilderness. This is what they did not want. Now there is no escape. All are doomed. For the benefits of the nation though, a new leadership should emerge in Congress post 2019 to co opt off shoots like NCP,TMC,JDS,TRS,Jagan Reddy etc and form a centrist coalition to challenge BJP.

  32. The Rajas and Maharajas who abound the Congress party have to be told in so many words that the blood in their veins is not one of Monarchyat all. They are mere slaves. They were earlier slaves of British Monarchy before. They are now slaves of a cheap bargirl waitress. called Antonia Maino (nee) SoniaGandhi. Common factor in both their previous masters were that they are White -- Protestant Christians and Roman Catholic Christian respectively. At least the former had class. Their current mistress is a cheap bargirl waitress. All the scientists, academics, industrialists, technocrats, bureaucrats of IAS, IFS, IPS -- the elite of the elite, crème de la crème, they are all slaves of a bargirl waitress who cannot even talk a sentence extempore. The bargirl reads from a print out. Shame on them. They have no right to talk about nationality or national interests, because if they do, it sounds very artificial, theatrical. God Willing Sri NaMo will fix them all!

  33. Congress under Nehru was a mafia gang of Communists hating Hindus, Intellectual Slaves brainwashed by British and freinds of Pakistan. Congress under Sonia Gandhi adds one more qualification: a mafia of Italian scamster gang and Communists hating Hindus, Intellectual Slaves brainwashed by British and freinds of Pakistan
