Biryanis Over Dead Soldiers

Executive Mansion,
Washington, Nov. 21, 1864.

Dear Madam,

I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln

That letter by Abraham Lincoln to Mrs. Bixbey was used as the prologue to the movie ‘Saving Private Ryan’. General George C. Marshall, on learning that 3 of 4 siblings of a family were killed in the war with Germany, quotes Lincoln and seeks that Private James Ryan be located, saved and returned home. The order to save one soldier for his family is given to a group after they survive a fierce battle during the Normandy landing. Most members of the search party are killed in saving Ryan, including their leader Captain Miller. Here’s how it ended:

It may seem an irony that so many had to be killed to return one soldier home. But Army heads and political leaders who care for mothers who lose many sons to battle understand not only their pain but the responsibility of finding comfort for them. Back home, our Govt seems to frequently rejoice in the death of soldiers. That may be harsh. No, they don’t actually jump for joy or throw a party but their conduct doesn’t reflect the slightest grief for soldiers lost or for their parents and families. Some of these soldiers have very young children who will grow up without a father.

On January 8, 2013 Pak army-men crossed the LOC and beheaded two Indian soldiers, Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh, and injured a couple more. What did some stupid Indians do two days later? Some Indian media crooks, celebrities and their Paki counterparts held an “Aman Ki Asha” debate in Delhi. Who was the moderator? Congress Minister Shashi Tharoor! How’s that for sensitivity? This, while the govt claimed it will not be ‘business as usual’ with Pak after the incident. Shameless people never learn. Voices condemn such actions but when your actions tend to pooh-pooh these incidents, more will follow.

Early August 6, 2013 five Indian soldiers were killed by intruders who crossed the LOC. Defence Minister AK Antony was quick to claim in parliament that these were terrorists and some “persons dressed in Pak military uniform”. This statement was made with prior knowledge that the Pakistani Border Action Team members, regular Pak army men, were involved in the killing. To cut it short, the GOI through the Defence Minister sought to exonerate Pak Army of any involvement in the killings. They were “innocent” so to say. Which country mocks the death of its soldiers in this fashion? It will be hard to find one.

Although I have quoted from the American Civil war and WWII our own history is rich in great battles and great warriors. From the Ramayana and Mahabharata to heroes like Maharana Pratap, Shivaji and many more, we are blessed with those who laid their lives so we could reach this point in time. Maroof Raza, a former army man and commentator on strategic affairs, made some important points on Times Now on August 7. He mentioned that we aspire to be an economic super-power but we don’t learn any lessons. The US and China have become economic super-powers because their political leadership works with and is aligned closely with their military powers. He cited Japan slowing down as an economic power because post-WWII it reduced the emphasis on a strong military power. No matter what the Chinese do, including incursions into Indian territory, their political leadership backs them strongly. In contrast, stated Raza, the current Congress govt has completely demoralised our armed forces.

The Congress govt at the Centre is neither sensitive about the army or the concerns of the citizens and families of army men. It seems pursuit of a pointless dialogue with Pakistan is far more important than the continuous export of terrorism by Pak and frequent killing of our soldiers. Last night President Obama cancelled his meeting with President Putin merely because Russia provided asylum to Earl Snowden, wanted in the US for leaking classified information. Govts that put the nation first act, Govts that put the nation last lie in parliament and then everyone in the govt distances himself from the lie like cowards. The PMO claimed it wasn’t involved in doctoring Antony’s misleading statement in the Parliament. Imagine, a PM who is supposed to himself make a statement has been silent all this while and even distances himself from his Defence Minister. How much of a limp biscuit can one be?

Maroof Raza spoke for ten minutes on Times Now on August 7 and it was like one of the finest speeches I have heard on Pakistan, terror and the Indian govt’s effete behaviour. He asked why Antony or the PM had to wait for the Army Chief to go to Poonch and await a clarifying statement when there are reliable Commanders on the ground who are more aware of facts. Worse, he accused the minister and the govt of being or playing ignorant of Pak army’s permanent partnership with the Jihadis. I tweeted what I heard of his statements.

Raza then went to note how Indian PM’s have mindlessly pursued a policy of dialogue with Pakistan without ever getting anything in return. He noted US political leaders often visit their troops during battles or during peacetime to stay connected with them. Ever seen Indian political leaders ever bothering? No minister or govt official was even around to receive the coffins of the 5 martyred soldiers. When their bodies were received in a J&K base there was none from the State govt to receive them or salute them. It is natural that former army-men on TV are seething with anger as are ordinary citizens. There is hardly any doubt  that our soldiers are boiling over too.

And I have to agree again with Raza when he says the govt is treating the army like a ‘fire-brigade’. It seems the army is only meant for internal peace or rescue operations in a tragedy. While their minister faked statements in parliament the Congress members weren’t tired of screaming “don’t politicise, don’t politicise” the killing of soldiers. Who exactly is politicising the incident with doctored statements? And even when it comes to using the army as a fire-brigade in a natural calamity who politicises tragedies? These pics should tell you enough when the Uttarakhand tragedy was taking its toll:

Everything is brought to you by the Congress and the Gandhis. As if the party paid for the food. Having failed in every other area of governance maybe MMS just seeks to somehow make a peace-deal with Pak and create history. Maybe he even hopes to get a Nobel Prize. Who knows! Even AB Vajpayee was guilty of the same mishandling of Pakistan, often inviting Kargil criminal Musharraf for summits. This Musharraf is a great hero for some anti-national media outlets. The only mistake Raza made is in claiming Nehru could have managed such a peace treaty. Wrong! Nehru had the opportunity to permanently settle the Kashmir issue. He did not. The nation’s citizens and its soldiers have been paying a price for it since then.

And while all this continues MMS hopes to have dialogue with his counterpart at the upcoming UN meeting sidelines. It’s now not only tragic, it even looks comic. No matter how much terrorism or killings Pakistan exports our govt keeps hosting them for cricket and unofficial visits. All this for vote-bank appeasement or may be some secret reason. There’s no shortage of Biryanis for officials of a country which has promised a 1000-year holy jihad against India. I hope next time they eat the Biryanis they see the face of dead soldiers in the food.

I just circulated this blog to a few friends with a question. Would Ali Baba suffer acute indigestion when he next has biryani with Sharif?

Shame on coward govt and politicians....they deserve to be lynched in public...even army leadership is politicized by congress and this moron sonia-Manmohan....our current general is a politician and nothing more.. he is physically unfit, spends time playing golf and eating biryanis with Antony....a general who cares for his troop will revolt against such pathetic politicians and would at least make a public statement against such leadership...this is what sonia gandhi has done to this nation, she has destroyed every single institution and have appointed pawns to server her interest...only a revolution can save India.

His emphasis was that in last few years there has been less incidents in Kashmir. there was not an iota of sorrow on his part.

  12. This may sound off topic. But the attitude of our media and Congress people compels me to write.

I do not understand this scream by our media morons to opposition "do not politicize" on every matter of political importance. I see that whenever oppostion is able to convey a politically compelling argument, the media morons scream "do not politicize" If every matter is not be discussed without political context and ignoring oppositions view point, what is left in these prime time discussions. Only praises for ruling party who throw crumbs at these media morons.

People who can not succeed in politics in right way, blame politics. In politics you are required to do the decisions which will make impact on millions, will be questioned every day and minute. You have to take the decisions right or wrong perceived by your opponents, and should be ready to face the consequences. It is not for the bimbos with weak hart and certainly not for present UPA government which is known for policy paralysis.

The shameless government who took the decision to offer a safe escape to Pakistan army without understanding the consequences deserves to be condemned politically. Even on this decision they can not stand firmly. PMO and MEA safely say that they have not influenced this decision. What a joke. Our PM's and UPAs only desire is to remain in office and keep the chair warm for Gandhi dynasty.

This government of UPA1 and UPA2 came in to existence to sabotage India story. They first thoroughly screwed the economy and weakened India from within and now they are even compromising national security with such false statements in parliament.

  13. I think PM himself is planning such attacks. Because I remember when rape happen in Delhi on 16th December. At this incidence there were lot of protests in India against govt. And suddenly new incidence happened. Head of our soldiers being chopped by Pak army men. It was to divert public attention from rape to national issue. Similarly now. Right now there is big internal issue of state bifurcation is going on. Telangana, Vidarbh, 4 states from UP etc issues are still pending. As usual, Pakistan is again denying of this attack same as when they denied at the time in January.

Every word that u have written is true, what u havent noticed is the Dhimmi Atitude of the Indian People who after thousands of years Slavery have become so numb that nothing disturbs them niether those grieving wives in their 20's nor their new born who could never see their father ever again . In return we have people governing us who are either traitors ( like MS Iyer who was collecting funds for the Chinese during their Chinese Invasion ) or the Mauni Baba who doesnt speak.

  16. Just wondering at root of rot in army / civil authority is the fact that jawans are from lower castes and officers from thr upper caste. Between them there seems to be no social, off field discourse. Is it because of that the deaths of jawans do not stir the emotions of army brass, political leaders and civic society. Lower the caste, lower the human value? We need army brass from lower castes. I am not suggesting reservation but encouragement to meritorious jawan and JCOs.

Army is probably the only institution in our beloved land that is above petty caste and religious concerns. Blaming the top brass of the army in this situation is not right. The whole army is probably seething with anger at this moment after listening to our Defense Minister and the Government response.

  19. i agree with your view about Congress or Indian politicians and some intellectuals(!!!), activists(!!!) but one little point that i want to raise here is...

i can remember how president of a country(Obama) lied to the whole world when he said that Raymon Davis is not a CIA agent but a US diplomat( though these two identity are same now). after that Panetta(then CIA chief) confirmed the identity of Raymon Davis and i hope rest of the story is well published now. my point is that the cancellation of Obama's meeting may not be the reason you described or what US expressed. because after some recent revelations by Snowden and everyone now understands that both China and Russia possess full content of what Snowden has, US and Obama's position is not appropriate to meet a man like Putin when US is accused of spying on Russian Embassy too. Russia will not forget the case of Victor Bout too. So, I just want to say US or Obama(a professional liar) may not be the proper example in this context.

  20. This is all you can expect from a government that was inherited from a person, our First Prime Minister, who wanted to disband the Indian Army, on the grounds that we have no enemy in the world, and we don't consider anyone as our enemy. This contempt for the Army has been handed over and amplified through generations to manifest itself in Parliament this week. I still recall how no one was around at the funeral of the great Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. How have we honoured him? Are there any roads or colonies named after him in any of the cities of India?

As usual you have brilliantly exposed the shallowness of our political class (i don't say the congress govt.because for me BJP and the congress are 2 sides of the same coin). After each such incident the media starts accusing the opposition of war mongering and often question"do they want us go to war with pakistan? dialogue is always the best way forward...people to people contact should be mentained and blah blah blah....and some more blahs"..Has any news channel devoted its time and energy(actually that would be asking too much...its much easier to just gather a crowd in the studio and let them slug it out) to discussing the kind of foriegn policy that our government has. There is an entire external affairs ministry (or is there?!!!)that is suppose to be doing its job(i think i need to spell it out for them for them...'cause till now they look clueless to me as to what exactly their job is).All of our neigbours(Sri Lanka,Burma,Nepal,Bangladesh, and of course pakistan etc.)despite being economically weaker than India tend to ignore india's supremacy(practically bullies us) despite being heavily dependent on it....because they know that our political class is too bent over to stand erect or take a firm stand on anything.
There is no need to go to war nor is anyone asking the government to do that all one is asking for it is to show some spine.

  24. "All this for vote-bank appeasement or may be some secret reason"This is a question raised by MC at the end. There is a deeper reason why pseudo secular parties mollycodle pakis. It is no secret, that not withstanding whatever public postures they may take, the Muslim populace of this country have a soft corner for Pakis. The KhanChris ,the communists and the other pseudos know the pulse of their consituencies and there is a tacit understanding between them on how to tap the vote bank. It is not for nothing that Moulana Mulayam had once suggested that we provide financial aid to Pakistan. In 2011 just before the assembly elections in Kerala, the ruling LDF govt sent a 5 crore rupee flood relief aid to Pakistan. The same flood had ruined Ladakh, which did not catch their attention.Even in the TV debate y'day one might have observed the spokespersons of NC and SP while playing safe on this issue never forgot to spew some venom on BJP even in the face of such a grave incident. The malice is there to see. VOte bank politics went international long ago while Neros like us were fiddling.

Unfortunately Vajpayee for some silly reasons tried to copy this Congress policy of appeasing Indian Muslims by visiting Pakistan & got busted in 2004 because the voters didn't expect BJP to be a B team of Congress party. Similarly Vajpayee handled the MSM in similar fashion as the Congress party & got egg on his face by the same MSM. I want to congratulate Ravinar for putting Vajpayee in his place. 35. Another great article.

I want to mention something which is out of context but I think it is very important.

Due to UPA's misrule and to some extent NDA's lack of vision - each one of our immediate neighbours (other than Pak and China)are emerging stronger and going to be a threat for India in long term.

Lanka eliminated LTTE with help from UPA and now will be aggressive towards India (already it is a routine for Indian fishermen to be killed/attacked by Lanka and no response from India). Bangladesh is emerging stronger. Nepal no longer is a supporting country and myanmar was never a friend.

We need a government led by a strong leader who cares for the nation and for the people.

No one in MSM is writing about this and all they want to do is somehow stop Modi from becoming PM.

The day may not be far when India becomes balkanised and we may need a multiple entry visa to go to Gurgaon from Delhi..

    God save this great country..

  36. The friendship with neighbours will depend on our foreign policy. If we adopt vote bank politics(no national interests) even in foreign policy, then we ask for trouble. To impress a tamil alli like DMK if we vote in favour of a resolution against Sri Lanka what can we expect. Remember that we too are a country grappling with terrorism and separatism and Sri Lanka was only fighting against terror and separatism.Unlike us they have eradicated terrorism from their land due to a patriotic leader. Regarding Nepal we did not support the Monarchy due to pressure from our liberal leftists. China supported the Maoist rebels there and now nepal is ruined. The bottom line is vote bank. There is no sector that is not affected by vote bank politics.

Pathetic Mother & Wife of Indian Army Soldier,

We have been shown in the files of Indian Army, a statement of the Army General that you are the Mother / Wife of this PiTA (Pain in The Ass) who is haunting us even after the death. Did we ask you to send your Son / Husband to guard the Indian Border? In fact as our elected representative (which you only voted for) Bhim Singh of Bihar Assembly says, the Soldiers join the Army to Die. We feel how strong and absolutely no loss whatsoever by the departure of ONLY 5 soldiers, which is hardly any loss of overwhelming nature. But, we cannot refrain from tendering a consolation of Rs. 10 Lakhs, and hopefully you will get 10 Rs. by the time it reaches you. We want you to deposit in a Bank and wait till our Prince Charming becomes PM of India and ensure that people of India can eat Potato Chips for 3 Rs. per packet, thanks to his Game Changing thinking of allowing 100% FDI in Retail.

We further assure you that we have also opened 25% FDI in Defence Deals, which will help us to buy cheap bullets, so that it will not be able to give a bite of even an ant to our peace loving neighbors.

  43. Dear Ravinar,

I am sure you would listened Punya Prasoon Vajpayee's "10 Tak" on Aaaj Tak yesterday, in which he detailed how Anthony was forced to read out the Statement finalised by PMO and MEA of English Laloo. He also 'educated' that generally Defence Minister's statement is not 'Finalised' by PMO or MEA. So there was and is a clear rift in Govt.Kangres President's letter of tough stance on this issue seems just a fake letter, which the servile channels are running day-in day-out.

Another very rubbish 'logic' goes on, and on in the TV media debates, is whenever in situations like this when countrymen ask for tough stance againt Pak, they would say "People are war mongering". Yesterday Numero Uno of CNN-IBN in one of his tweets said, few channels are running SMS poles for War mongering. Will some one ask them there's quiet some difference between a "Tough Stance" and a "War". As done by Atalji in one of his SARC Submit when he not even went to shake hands with Musharraf. Atalji might have done some mistakes, which Kangress keeps ranting, I fail to understand why the people in opposition fail to highlight the mistakes of Nehruji who did all the blunders. In TV media debates messages needs to go sharp and crisp and no blabbering around.

  46. All this stuff shouldn't be surprising at all. India has the ignominious honour of being ruled by its number one enemy, the Congress Party. More and more Indians seem to be realising this, which is heartening.

However, the first priority for all Indians absolutely must be not just the political defeat of that party at the next election, but its absolute destruction, along with all their insidious, divisive and anti-National policies and tactics. Hopefully more and more Indians are also realising this necessity and that future political endeavours will be geared towards realising that goal.

    1. Pls dont be so impressed with the belief that there is realisation in India. Most people in India are just happy with the applause that they get for political correctness. KhanChris thrives on political correctness. Just view one of the channel debate shows and listen to what our celebrity crowd opines. For the celebrities it is only a question of having the widest market of audiences. So they are taught to be sikular. Nation does not matter to them, bcz if this nation is damned ,they already have homes abroad. It will be the same with their fans.If SRK has a viewpoint, all this sheep like followers believe in the same view. That is India.

  48. I don't Understand why every time the Media brings in BJP's those 6 Years Rule. Its Fine if they have done Mistakes BJP was Thrown out of Power in 2004. How Long MSM is going to Blow that Trumpet of Fake Propaganda Yes there were issues but those were dealt with Kargil war. MSM very discreetly shows / Give News of Economic Growth o the NDA but Very Loudly Blow The Trumpet of their failure. If MSM / Congress thinks that its the UPA' Policies which are Reaping the Fruits for Kashmir Valley's returned of Tourism again its Our Army. Why Our Netas need SPG + Z PLUS SECURITY the are the elected representative and they need best of the best facilities to Enjoy themselves and mock at the People that they made us Fool. Its Pathetic states of mind of our Defence MInister one should understand after all he belongs to a party whose President / Vice President state of mind is also "VERY POOR AND BUSY DEFINING POVERTY AND CONFIDENCE". Somebody rightly quoted Kalyan Singh statement up that we all Hindus to get UNIted and throw this insensitive Congress Out MSM main MOTTO is to Equate BJP and Congress and shows the People that Congress is Better. Even one Channel showing that PMO finalised his statement oh come on he is not a kid what silly excuse these Media Channels come out with to cover their Masters. Ofcourse BJP spokepersons should also come heavely on All The Channels to HIGHLIGHT THE FAILURE / BLUNDERS OF NEHRU COULDN'T HANDLE ONE STATE TO MERGE WITH BHARAT PROPERLY WHEREAS SARDAR PATEL INTEGRATED 562 STATES AND PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO NIZAM OF HYDERABAD AND JUNAGARH NAWAB.

  49. Just to add one more thing All these MSM Fake Journos come out that BJP should politicise this or that to Educate them its not Politicizing its the DUTY OF THE OPPOSITION TO CHECK THE GOVERNMENT AND REMIND THE PEOPLE THAT IT IS RASHTRA NITI. ALL THESE CHANNELS SHOULD KNOW WHERE TO DRAW THE LINE AND HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE. THEY HAVE LOST EVERYTHING OR FOR FEW CRUMBS THEY ARE DOING DISSERVICE TO THIS NATION. STOP CALLING THEMSELVES THE 4TH PILLAR OF DEMOCRACY AND NATIONAL CHANNELS. FOR US THE BIGGEST HERO OF THE COUNTRY ARE SOLDIERS ALL THE BLOODY NUMB POLITICIAN AND MEDIA IS ALSO WORKING AND ENJOYING BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS WHO ARE GUARDING OUR BORDERS. IF OUR RULING CLASS THINKS THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BAT FOR PAKISTAN THAN THEY ARE MOST WELCOME TO LEAVE THIS COUNTRY AND LIVE IN PAKISTAN AND ENJOY THE PAKISTANI BIRYANIS AND CHICKEN TAK-A-TIN WITH A BOTTLE OF CHATEAU PETRUS.

  50. Every word of this article is cent percent correct... Our foolish politicians are shameless.. They don't know anything about our armed forces and least concerned about their lives... Why India so desperately want to keep relationship with Pakistan at any cost? ABV made a mistake n we lost our 527 brave soldiers..Why can't we learn from our mistakes? I know war is not the alternative but sometimes it is... U need to show ur enemy their bloody "aukaat" if u want peace...

  51. Just one question for everyone, what will you do if someone comes to your house and beats your brother, father or any family member?

The problem is not with the politicians or with the government. We the citizens of India are responsible for the situation right now. Whatever bad things we see in this world is not because of activities of the criminals but because the silence of the good people.

  53. The place where Bhagat Singh was cremated, at Hussainiwala on the banks of the Sutlej river, became Pakistani territory during the partition. On 17 January 1961, it was transferred to India in exchange for 12 villages near the Sulemanki Headworks.Batukeshwar Dutt was cremated there on 19 July 1965 in accordance with his last wishes, as was Bhagat Singh's mother, Vidyawati. The National Martyrs Memorial was built on the cremation spot in 1968 and has memorials of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. During the 1971 India–Pakistan war, the memorial was damaged and the statues of the martyrs were removed and taken away by the Pakistani army. They have not been returned since but the memorial was rebuilt in 1973.

  58. India must declare Pakistan Army as Dreaded Terrorists Organization.

At least those who are Patriotic must call Pakistan Army as Terrorists because our countries political class don't have that guts to do so.

  59. All those bimbos who come to media debates promoting "Aman ki Asha" ka tamasha, must be asked, if they were with their husband, brother etc and some goon tried to molest them, how should the man react.

In the same manner the country has to react. Hit them and hit them hard.

The hindu which should be called Anti-hindu published it. That was a surprise. The secular media acts as blind, deaf and dumb when it comes to such news which is not a surprise.

  62. I feel very sick to read the entire post. As an INDIAN I hung my head in shame for having these kind of CONGRESS people who have ruled the nation for most part of post freedom. It high time the people of India take up the issues in their own hand and teach a lesson to these anti-nationals in the next general elections by NOT VOYING FOR SINGLE CONGRESS AND THEIR ALLIES. This would be the great service by the people of India to the soldiers and defense officers of India. Pray GOD WE GET ROD OF THESE SWINDLERS AND ENUCHS!!!!!
