CNN-IBN, IBN7 - Criminally Communal Channels

There is something about our media celebs that makes them hate anything remotely connected with Hinduism or the Hindu religion. Any symbol related to Hinduism or their spiritual leaders or Gurus is an insult to the intelligence of these elites. Of the many media outlets that frequently ridicule Hinduism, CNN-IBN and its sidekick IBN7 are channels that are undisputed leaders. Not so long ago CNN-IBN’s Sagarika Ghose ran a fraudulent live show about SriSri Ravi Shankar and his campaign against corruption. It was a case enough to ‘Sack Sagarika. But just as in politics, nepotism prevails in the media too and she continues merrily on the channel, frequently spouting venom against Hindus, subtly on TV or more brazenly on Twitter. When the damage is done and she faces a backlash her typical response is to play victim. Here are some recent transactions by CNN-IBN’s Managing Director, Rajdeep Sardesai:

The tweet on the left was in response to many demanding coverage of the anniversary of Emergency on June 25, 2012. Now, what exactly does Emergency have to do with Babri? But unless a historic event of significance is not equated with some supposed ant-Hindu news Rajdeep’s equation is not complete. In reality, Emergency is a shame on the nation, destruction of democracy and is comparable with the tin-pot dictators of Pakistan, perhaps with Saddam Hussain, Pinochet or Idi Amin. Emergency was not an offence against any particular community. All communities paid a price. In contrast the Babri incident is one of many communal incidents in the country. If history is perspective, then Babri should be compared to Somnath and not to the Emergency. But such is the communal agenda of CNN-IBN.

On June 25 #Emergency75 trended all day on Twitter. So Rajdeep wants to know if tweeters will trend #Babri92 on December 6.  While he actually doesn’t suggest it, it’s almost as if Babri happened as revenge for Emergency. It’s alarming that those who pass off as editors in media outlets cannot distinguish between a national tragedy and a communal incident. The number of people killed or permanently disabled during Emergency will neither be known nor be ever revealed because our current media would prefer another Emergency. They would like a censorship of all voices in the social media and would delight in peddling only the voice of the Congress and their ruling allies. The Justice Shah Commission report on the Emergency was buried and lost till recently a writer (Era Sezhiyan) put the pieces together in a book.

Here’s another tweet from the same evening. Once again Rajdeep drags Babri and Gujarat 2002 to balance Emergency and the 1984 “Riots”. Mind you, he and others in the media continue to refer to 1984 as “riots” and Gujarat 2002 as “pogrom”. Most will disagree with 1984 being termed “riots”. That was a systematic killing of ONLY Sikhs in retaliation. It wasn’t a conflict in which both Sikhs and others were killing each other. Only Sikhs were being killed by Congress cadres. Still, what’s the connection? Unless the BJP’s so-called sins are called into the debate it is unfair to talk about Emergency. All the events Rajdeep talks about happened much after Emergency and aren’t connected in anyway. This is the media’s idea of “balanced” crap!

In another tweet Rajdeep laments being called a “pseudo-secular”. Why? Because he did a programme on 1984 on its 25th Anniversary and about Gujarat/Godhra on its 10th Anniversary. This is where Rajdeep comes across and establishes himself as an outright LIAR. And I do call him a LIAR. For long the media had buried 1984. It is only when the media was churning out lies about Gujarat 2002 that people wondered why a similar campaign wasn’t there for 1984. What the liar Rajdeep forgets is that from the day Gujarat riots started he, in whichever channel he was, has carried out a relentless campaign almost every day against the perpetrators and particularly Narendra Modi. The anti-Gujarat shows weren't on anniversaries - those were every week, every month, every year and still continue. Such were the extent of lies that media even reported as if February 2002 had 30 days and not 28. The stories are all in the open now and probably there is as much guilt that Rajdeep feels as other media crooks for stories about Gujarat.

If Narendra Modi were a Muslim I seriously doubt any of these channels would have mentioned Gujarat beyond 2002 or 2003. If Narendra Modi were a Congressman then Gujarat2002 would have been buried by the media as they did 1984. If Narendra Modi were a Congressman he would have been awarded a Bharat Ratna, streets would be named after him, airports named after him, govt schemes would be named after him. And would you see the media protesting? Make a wild guess! This is the communal nature of Rajdeep, Sagarika and all other bimbos in our mainstream media. Hate Hindus, magnify any Hindu crime and suppress the crimes of their paymasters, particularly Congress. Of course, when challenged about being anti-Hindu Rajdeep will claim he is a proud Hindu! Why? Because he eats beef! That’s his measure.

Now, while there have been frequent accusations of CNN-IBN and IBN7 being anti-Hindu and communal here is proof if you ever needed it. The latest catch in the 26/11 is someone called Abu Jindal. Umm…  no one seems sure about his real name! He is also called Abu Jundal, Abu Hamza and new names might crop up soon. On every channel and newspaper there is only one picture of his – the one with the same expression and the same check-shirt. Wait, all except IBN7. An observant tweeter (@AwakeIndian) sent me this TV grab from the channel.

Out of nowhere you have Abu Whatever seen wearing a Saffron Kurta. IBN7 dressed him up him in ‘Saffron’ and that colour is symbolic with Hindus. The mischief behind altering a commonly circulated image is not lost on people. Of course, the journalistic-bimbo would disagree and suggest that isn’t Saffron but ‘Orange’. AwakeIndian also points to the saffron shirt the anchor is wearing but I wouldn’t read much into that. What exactly is the motive behind photo-shopping the image of a suspected terrorist?

This can be a good case for a criminal act under section 153A of the IPC – Creating communal disharmony, insulting the religious sentiments of a community and so on. The managing editor of IBN7, Ashutosh, is also often accused of his anti-Hindu stance. Such acts only confirm the agenda of the CNN-IBN group as a whole. So Rajdeep, Sagarika and Ashutosh and their team can flush their ‘secular’ credentials down the drain and stop any pretensions. Their tweets, their images, their misguided sense of ‘balance’ have been frequently exposed. In the case of SriSri, Sagarika claimed it was a “bug” and a genuine “mistake”. Nobody buys that anymore. As with that episode I have to repeat: It’s neither an error nor a mistake, it’s just wilful deception. The sly, subtle and deceptive anti-Hindu campaign will continue on their channels.

  1. A number of people change their name to get work or for business purposes. May be Ashutosh is Abdul, Rajdeep's real name could be Rahman and Sagarika's Suzanne. Wolves in Garb of sheep, beware poor Hindus of these people.

  3. Great read...this post is the bestest of all other posts [all are equally good]. The Photoshopping of chequed shirt with a saffron dress is a dead give away that IBN7 has got dedicated units/persons to do this kind of graft/hit jobs and it can never be a bug/desk error as was claimed by Saggy. This shows that these Channels have their own self motivation to do these hit jobs on Hindu values and icons and it is highly unlikely that a CONgress person asked them to do this morphing/photoshopping job on the terrorist's picture. This is criminal on the part of the IBN7 as rightly pointed so in the post. I for one had believed in the myth that the Media is under pressure from CONgress govt to do such kind of hit jobs and these hit jobs are being extracted from the Media under duress, and Media merely buckling under pressure. But this post has shattered the opinion/myth, as it is now confirmed that Media is doing these unforced hit jobs on it's own and under it's own self motivation. Great post and thanks to Ravi for breaking the myth. In everyone there is something deep inside called conscience, wonder if these Media Guys were ever born with it?

  4. Ravinar, there is a large widget on your blog that is irritating to say the least, one has to read above and below a floating box for sharing on Facebook etc with no close button.

  5. Like "Spy v/s Spy" in Mad Magazine, maybe someone has watchers watching the watchers.
    What makes them tick?
    What are their antecedents?
    What made them this way?
    Who are they connected with?
How do they get their cues?
Before long, the public will get to see/hear of filth beyond belief.

  6. Outstanding piece. Scathing & devastating indictment of criminal Ibn7/cnn-ib7. By editing colour of the shirt to saffron, they have played fraud on Hindus in specific & Bharat Ma in general. Inciting communal hatred, disturbing national harmoney, threatening national security are the likely fall out of these insensitive & dangerous tricks of thus channel. In what way these are different from the agenda of terrorists like Abu jindal? Rajdeep & his channel are it appears becoming willful tools in the strategy of terrorists, & hence are no different from terrorists.

  7. This tweet beats my previous best rated one on your site. Amazingly accurate (why am I even stating this?) After all this, I am just left wondering, what does it take to become a Managing Editor of a Channel like CNN-IBN... Nothing much, isnt it? Only Credentials: Anti Hindu, Anti Narendra Modi, Pro-CONgi - Dishing out lies like that doesn't call for too much of competency, does it? Just a small attempt to become stupid, unlearn and then Go to Midnight Mass on Dec 25th and Holy Communion on Sundays. Easy no? Amen

    1. Answer: In all cases, irrespective of whats happening in India, should we not ask a question that why should religions be made to be like competing each other??, and being a believer of religion A, why should I/you/We expect to see religion B depleting?? For that matter, Sanatana Dharma is at least 5000 yrs old and has survived 800 years of oppression and persecution, while some others did not last 15 yrs of foreign rule. So trust that Sanatana Dharma will last another many 5000 yrs.

    2. Very naive thinking. There is a single big difference between Hindus and Christians/Muslims. Hindus don't prosletyze. Christians do only that. So no wonder they get their following from Hindus by talking all kinds of lies which are part of the brainwashing to get converts - devious indeed. I have actually seen this when one of my christian friends invited me to one such program in Hyderabad.

So to answer why should one religion deplete? if i were a christian, I want to see Hindus deplete and move to my subscription business. After all that's what my theology says - save the heathen and the idolater. of course there is the monetary angle too. The more they convert, the more funds they can expect from southern Baptist and Lutheran churches. Read Rajiv Malhotra's Breaking India.

Incidentally Southern Baptist is supposed to be have a share in CNN-IBN. I cannot confirm this (maybe Ravinar could?) as company holding structures are designed to obfuscate the real owners.

Though its a good feeling to think that Sanathan Dharma survived years of oppression and feel optimistic it will survive, you have to look at it from another angle. Would you like to live healthy or with 50 stab wounds and just barely breathing? Yes, you are alive and that's good, but is that enough? Territory wise we are not even half of what we were. Most Hindus are just namesake hindus with no awareness of their legacy.

If you were running a company which has decreased its revenue by half and its employees are unengaged to the company's ideals, rivals poaching your staff, your PR is a nightmare with organized bashing (as done by CNN IBN ilk), would you say 'we are old company that earned great revenue 100 years ago, so we will survive?'

In your previous blog on Rajdeep Sardesai, I commented you were a wee bit kind to him and he doesn't deserve it. I now thank you for calling his bluff in strongest possible terms. These CNN-IBN, NDTV types are closet Christians. Somebody should do a digging job on their conversions.

  10. Ravi - As usual great, nice observation sent by (@AwakeIndian) on the saffron colour of Abu's shirt.

A few suggestions for IBN7 - how about putting a tilak, showing a trishul in his hand (sword can be islamic too, trishul is safe), shaving his head and a prominent chuttiya for good measure to showcase him being Brahmin (the favourite punchbag for all and sundry). IBN 7 lacked imagination

Someone had asked Advani about role of media during emergency. He had said "when asked to bend they crawled"

The crawling before Congressi's mentality is very much there and these bunch of Stephanians and from so called great institutions pay their respect to their masters by being blatantly anti-Hindu.

Deep down must be bothered about Modi coming to centre and hence so many anti Namo and divided BJP stories.

The culture of eating beef started after the Miyas analysed the reasoning for Iyyas' intelligence and found the root cause as cow ghee, milk and buttermilk. In that case they decided if the gulp the entire cow, they will become super intelligent thus started the culture. However, the former being cream settled in brain but the latter being sediments settled on knee caps hence they are pregnant with dichotomy and hence outlet all such brays

  17. My concern is this is being read by a very small minority (pun intended). I know of a lot of people who still believe in the shameless lies of the main stream media. It is not IBN, the Hindu paper is the worst example of Hindu-baiting. most of india's English media, with exception to Indian Express are this type. They blindly follow western media that have an agenda. There are many frauds today. I name the few. But very sad we Hindus are so bound to secularism that if we raise our voice little bit, then we will be branded suddenly as communal and other communities start crying Victim hood. Shame on Congress which suppressed Hindu voices systematically.

  26. Dear Ravi,

First time in disagreement with you. Babri demolition was not at all another 'communal incident'. It was probably the first act of mass demonstration of nationalist sentiment by Indians. A symbolic against years of oppression by successive invaders, rulers and governments in name of minority appeasement or whatever.

Also "Inferiority Complex"?? Any injustice done at whatever point of time must be corrected and correction of some of them has already been done(Somnath temple by Congress govt.) and I can assure you that the rest including Ram Mandir will be be corrected soon too, this time by the BJP govt.

  27. fraudulent interviews are bound for prosecution...
its regarding d fight carried out by Anant Kr Singh, IAS against journalists who published his concocted interview.

    PRESS NOTE

Court dismisses appeals of journalists for publishing concocted interview of Anant Kumar Singh

Conviction for publishing concoted interview of Anant Kumar Singh upheld

Journalists to serve jail term for publishing concoted interview of Anant Kumar Singh

Shri P.N. Srivastav, Additional District Judge, TECP-V, Lucknow has dismissed on 22.11.2012 the appeal of Raman Kirpal (reporter), A.K. Bhattacharya (editor), Deepak Mukherjee and Sanjiv Kanwar (printers and publishers) against the conviction order passed by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (Customs) in the year 2007 for publishing a concocted interview of the then District Magistrate Anant Kumar Singh by the sensational title “Any man will rape a woman in a lonely spot: DM, Muzaffarnagar” along with his photographs. Cancelling the bail of the convicts, the Court has also asked them to surrender before the Magistrate for serving the jail term awarded by the trial court. The appellate Court has also directed the trial court that in case the appellants do not surrender immediately then warrant may be issued to secure their presence for executing the order of the court.

It may be recalled that Raman Kirpal, then a reporter of the Pioneer, New Delhi had written an interview titling “Any man will rape a woman in a lonely spot: DM, Muzaffarnagar” which was published in the New Delhi and Lucknow editions of the English daily newspaper ‘The Pioneer’ and Lucknow edition of Hindi daily ‘Swatantra Bharat’ in October, 1994 in which the District Magistrate was shown to have said that it is human tendency that when a woman is seen at a lonely place in the jungle, any man will be inclined to rape her. Immediately after the publication, the same day Shri Anant Kumar Singh sent his denial about giving any such interview to Raman Kirpal to the editor of Pioneer A.K. Bhattacharya and chief editor of Swatantra Bharat Ghanshyam Pankaj. Being dissatisfied with the continued criminal act due to non-disclosure of corrects facts by the newspaper, Shri Singh filed 3 defamation cases in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Lucknow.

After 13 years of long drawn criminal trial, in the year 2007, the Magistrate held Raman Kirpal, A.K. Bhattacharya, Ghanshyam Pankaj, Deepak Mukherjee and Sanjiv Kanwar guilty of defaming Anant Kumar Singh, the then District Magistrate Muzaffarnagar by publishing a false and fabricated interview. The court awarded the reporter Raman Kirpal one year imprisonment with Rs. 5000 fine and 6 months imprisonment with fine of Rs. 2000 each to other 4 convicts. All the 5 convicts filed separate appeals against the order of the Magistrate. During the pendency of the appeal, one of the appellant Ghanshyam Pankaj died.

After hearing both the parties of the appeal, Judge Shri P.N. Srivastav held that Shri Anant Kumar Singh has proved beyond reasonable doubt that the interview written and published by the appellants have lowered his reputation in the eyes of common man while the appellants have failed to produce any evidence which may even suggest that the reporter has taken the interview of Shri Singh. Taking into account the gravity of the offence, the appellate court refused to give the appellants the benefit of probation under the Probation of First Offenders Act.

It may be further recalled that on a separate complaint filed before the Press Council of India in this case by Shri Singh, the Press Council had, in February, 1996, also censured these 3 newspapers for their misconduct.

The media has much bigger role than highlighting one govt official being corrupt; this is one person being corrupt but if the media becomes corrupt then it would be a big chunk of less intelligent people getting influenced. The so called media should just declare themselves as what they are. Rajdeep al-sar-desh-hai is a traitor. He should be first stoned, then caned, then stripped naked and hung.
