Political Marketing: Part - 1

A wise man rightly said “Marketing is too important to be left to the marketing department”.

Whether you’re a doctor, scientist, marketing student or in any other profession, I would recommend you read “The 22 immutable laws of marketing” by Al Ries and Jack Trout. It’s a quick, short read. As always there will be some rare exceptions to the rule but these 22 laws laid down by the two advertising gurus have generally stood the test of time. These laws apply not merely to business but also to individual endeavours if one wants to adapt them. You can run through a summary here. The reason for bringing up this old book to is to educate some of our media morons, like Bhupendra Chaube and Rajdeep Sardesai, who think marketing is some kind of evil practice. The reasons for their heartburn and escalated stupidity are these images of a mega road-show by Narendra Modi on April 24 on the way to filing his nomination papers at Varanasi.

Well, such massive crowds for Modi can upset and annoy any political opponent of Modi. Naturally, Chaubeji and Congress pimp Rajdeep were deeply upset. Chaubeji started blabbering the crowds were sourced from other towns which the Congress picked up and started screaming. It doesn’t occur to them that it’s even worse if some of those in the crowds were from other towns. It only means people are travelling to see Modi while even the locals are unwilling to turn up in big numbers for RahulG or SoniaG. It also means that if the BJP can source people from outside then they can very well source people from the town itself. Such nonsense is passed off for news debate by CNN-IBN.

After Chaubeji’s heartburn-theory of outsiders in the crowds, Rajdeep came up with a dumb question only he can come up with. He asked “Is it necessary for Modi to do this (road-show)?” The other even more stupid question was “Should Modi be doing such a road-show on voting-day?” Is it necessary for Rajdeep to peddle filth on his channel? Is that what keeps his “Choola” burning? Obviously, these standards apply only to Modi because it seems to be fine for Rajdeep when RahulG or someone else does it. His hatred for Modi makes him lose all balance and even forget events of the recent past. As my tweet points out to corrupt Rajdeep, even RahulG held a road-show for his nomination on April 12, a voting-day. Rajdeep kept abusing Modi throughout the morning of April 24 while the road-show was on. He also went on to say he would love to have Modi as his marketing head for CNN-IBN. At least that’s an admission that his channel has miserably failed under him. His panellist (some Manini) lamented Modi’s case was one of great image and persona building. Well, it doesn’t occur to them that if that is possible for Modi then it is possible for RahulG too. After all, there are reports of RahulG having spent 500 crores with a foreign agency called Dentsu for his lipstick.

What’s bugging these hate-mongers? It’s the awful truth that there is nothing more they have to throw at Modi. They are exhausted. So they hold pathetic debates on his jackets, the colour of his Kurta and who he is waving at and so on. When an organised mafia like our media, along with Congress and its clones, keep hurling abuses at a man, the public starts to wonder about their motives. At some point they conclude if so many lies are peddled about a man, there must actually be something good about him. That’s the problem Rajdeep and Congress face. Now they claim it is all “marketing” as if marketing is some evil. I guarantee, most media morons cannot define marketing in a single sentence if they were asked to.

Marketing is a good thing; especially if your product is a good one. Smita Prakash who interviewed Modi asked him this question and he answered with a fact on products. Modi said water flows in Gujarat, people get power supply in Gujarat and these aren’t “fake” products that can be sold by mere marketing. That people see it, experience it and reap the benefits of these products. Modi wears simple Indian clothes but he wears them well. We should applaud this and expect all politicians be dressed well. And what are elections about if not marketing? The fools in the media would have you believe it’s not. Elections are about marketing your past performance, your services, your ideas, your promises and, most of all, yourself. This is what every party and candidate does or is supposed to do. Modi does it well, so the media mafia screams about marketing as if it is some evil. During the late 1990s a TV commercial show called Asian Sky Shop had huge sales advertising electric “Roti-makers”. They sold crores worth of the product but in a few weeks customers started returning the product to them and their franchisees because it didn’t make Rotis the way Indians traditionally want it. Do you see much of these Roti-maker ads or sales now? You cannot sell a non-performing or bad product by mere marketing over a longer period. Modi has been at his job over 12 years, people know what they are buying.

In marketing, people may not observe the phenomenon but they know what a “fad” is and what a “trend” is. Men have worn their hair long, short, crew-cuts and now even fully-shaven heads but these are fads that keep coming and going. But hair-styling or hair-care is a permanent “trend”. Fashion changes! Men wore pants as drain-pipe slim, bell-bottoms and many other styles but the trouser itself has not disappeared. Unless trousers disappear and men adopt skirts as their normal and formal wear, trousers will remain a long-term “trend”. This election season, people have finally realised that the Congress “Roti-maker” does not make the Rotis they want. As simple as that! Worse, they are realising they paid an “exorbitant” price (massive loot and corruption) for the Congress Roti-maker and don’t trust their product anymore. They want to try a different product; a product that has proof of performance. Therefore, a majority are willing to buy Modi’s product. Modi’s political competitors abuse the product like Rajdeep and Chaubeji do along with their Congress partners. But people choose the product they want. They don’t see Modi as a fad. They see it as a trend and therefore the Modi-wave. Marketing cannot create sustained waves with a bogus product. One CII speech and one interview of RahulG was enough to expose him as a fleshy mass of ignorance.

The media packaged Arvind Kejriwal as a messiah sent by Jesus Christ or Allah to save the world. Rajdeep even claims credit for inspiring AK. What happened? When people bought that product they found it didn’t perform. In fact the product turned to be doing the opposite of everything it claimed it would do. They called it “Kejri-turn”. They want a refund. Who will give them a refund for their vote? Nobody! Will they invest their vote again in that failed product? They won’t, unless AK offers a “New Improved Surf Excel” type Kejriwal. Ask yourself a question. Modi has travelled since his early years, sold tea and lived as a nomad. Do you think Modi can make Rotis for himself and his room-mates if he had to? You know the answer. In the same breath, ask yourself the same question about others. Do you think RahulG or Mrs Vadra can make Rotis for themselves or for anyone else? I believe your heart will tell you the answer. So who is into marketing a fake product? What is it that the Gandhis are trying to market that the media and many cronies want you to buy?

Political marketing is as important as it is in any other domain. For most of 67 years poor Indians have been buying a fake product from the Congress in the hopes of a better life. Unless a majority of them try out a new product, they won’t know the difference. In the next part we will see the fake products the Gandhis and Congress have been selling all these years.

  1. After first round of polling MSM has become very desperate and now conducts debates in a very partial manner with anchors also joining with the a discussion panel already loaded with anti-namo experts to isolate pin down BJP representative..The comedian shouting anchor leads the pack as if he is under a brief to destroy NAMO mission. BJP should retrospect whether it is in their interest to join the debates till elections are over!!Meanwhile black beard white beard channel has managed an interview with black beard and aptly got a lesson from the interviewee on what questions one should ask in an interview!!

    2. Exactly. In a "panel" of say 6 persons, 5 of them, including the supposedly unbiased, "journalist" anchor, are anti-Modi/BJP. I think the BJP spokespersons on these shows should first ask the anchor if they are going to be neutral or are they going to be anti-Modi. Let the anchors make their stance clear at the very beginning-put them on the spot, and not give them any excuse to play sinister games.

  4. Marketing reminds me of a particular product called disposable shaving razor. It started with one blade. Then as the fad subsided, added one more blade to ensure closer shave. Then the competator added one more to get more closer shave. I think it as now reached four blades.I had predicted 10 blades in as many years. But then the public did not want to be fooled all the time and called it enough is enough. Does it strike a cord with the emergence of a third Gandhi in the fray, as the existing Gandhis have exhaused their utility.

  5. Ravinar, brilliant piece of writing! We all understand the congress problem...they don't have a single good product to market....! This is probably the first election where a ruling party goes to election describing the negative sides of opposition and trying to get votes out of the fear factor...! such a shame for a party which ruled for 2 consecutive terms (10yrs)...As you said people want to try a different product and that product deserves a chance to be given. I can see this change in attitude to whoever I am speaking whether its from village or town...
NaMo is excellent in marketing, but he does that after 10years of hardwork and results are there to see in Gujarat...
No wonder why he can connect to the people so well...he comes from a very grassroot worker level, gradually rose within the party and understands the issues of people across different social and economic strata...I believe he is the best to build a Brand India...

One thing is clear. Most of them I believe feel the miserable failure of congress inside their heart. Having stood for a wrong party for so long their ego hurts in admitting. It is still not late for them.

  15. Aptly written. Congies have reportedly introduced a new product in the market just yesterday. 4.5 PERCENT SUB-QUOTA FOR MINORITIES IN ALREADY PRESENT OBC QUOTA.
Well, we had that coming given the history of Congress of selling Quota and Subsidy products.
Actually this quota politics has worked for them well since independence, and they have succeeded in fooling minorities with such gimmicks. But this time a man has changed the type and quality of the political products that are sold in this country during elections, and that's what has bothered the Congress from the very root. In the process of attempting the marketing of a non-performing product like RG, the Congress has seriously dented its popularity. And when its evident now that their development-based unpolished products like NREGA and RTI have not been selling, they have resorted to their favourite vote-bank based product of Quota-in-a-Quota. Hopefully, people will not buy those kind of products anymore when they have a all new range of products from a man who has a fine record of fine products delivered on time.

  18. You know that bit about whether Modi can make rotis for himself and his room-mates gave me goosebumps.
Therein lies his appeal. The ability to conquer all the hardships with grace. We can see that when he speaks. People are not foolish...they can "sense" beyond what is written and what is said. Modi speaks to people with his life, his actions, his demeanour. People can sense his "mission".
It really hurts me when useless buffoons like Sardesai, Chaubhey, Kejriwal, Pappu, Pappi and assorted Congi ass-lickers trash Modi out of sheer hatred. None of these ragtag bunch of thugs has any achievements to their credit that can match Modi's work...none of these are even fair critics of his work. Mediacrooks trash the man who is willing to work and lick the boots of people who treat them like dogs and loot and destroy the country.

  19. Good article Ravinar.

Recently there was an episode of AAP KI ADALAT starring Narendra Modi.

The host Rajat Sharma asked a quersion to Modi on the lines of using Amitabh Bachchan for Gujarat Tourism ads, while Amitabh Bachcchan has been known to having ties with parties in UP in the past.

To that question, Modi replied brilliantly saying he knows how to best utilise the talents of Amitabh Bachchan for marketing tourism in Gujarat, while parties in UP have used him only for photo op opputunities.

This was a brilliant answer by MODI and it shows the good thinking abilities of the CM, and the way he strategically used the best available resource to get the point across and the least possible cost.

Modi also claimed that Amitabh Bachcchan did the Gujarat Toursim ads without charging a penny.

    Now, thats called MARKETING !

Here also he will discharge all his responsibilities without any attachment to the position, raag or dwesh following the teachings of that great granth 'Bhagavad Gita'. I have a feeling that he will renounce the post if he completes two terms in office and mentor a new leader..in all probability Sh.Chouhan present CM of MP.. Like Bill Clinton canvassing for Obama, he may even canvass for Chouhan. The chain of proven and able chief ministers graduating to shoulder the responsibilities as country's Prime Minister will be the most desirable development to assurance good governance

  21. Though, you gave an advance tip that it is going to be fun, it still surpassed my expectation of fun. Such a beautiful and fun way to explain the link between Politics and Marketing. And you have used simple daily life examples like roti-maker, trousers etc. to explain one of the most complex marketing theory of ‘difference between successful marketing of good products vs. unsuccessful marketing of bad products’. And the sheer brilliance of relating these marketing theories to explain the success of Narendra Modi and failure of Rahul Gandhi is just mind blowing.

When Narendra Modi explains about tourism as a potential that will help a poor man to earn more by selling corn to tourists, people immediately relate to it because it is a practical example. Whereas when Rahul Gandhi invokes Jupiter Velocity to escape poverty, the poor can only stares at him in blank contempt. Only media for monetary or ideological reasons does gaga marketing over dud products like RahulG, Arvind Kejriwal and Mrs.Priyanka Vadra, and fail miserably.

Apart from media and politics, the way you have explained about some of the marketing concepts in this article stand out for their clarity. Take your commentary on the “The 22 immutable laws of marketing”, it is simple but clarity personified. As a reader when I experience that clarity it also brings out your depth of knowledge. That is a huge inspiration for me (could be many other readers as well) to seek knowledge to acquire similar clarity.

In fact, being a regular reader of your blog, I realized to my surprise that many topics which I used to find boring were due to my insufficient knowledge on that subject (Marketing, movies etc). It requires somebody like you who demonstrates knowledge with passion and fun to inspire interest to seek that knowledge. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge on such varied topics and making it fun along the way too. I wish you would be on the most influential supervisory board of syllabus for schools and colleges. So that more students not only just get knowledge but are motivated to seek knowledge on their own.

  22. Though not very relevant, I have something related to Roti-making.

In RSS camps, women in the summer heat of Nagpur do a thankless job of making 5000+ Roti's everyday. No roti-makers used, no marketing done :). What I mean to say is that (like you mentioned) there can be no substitute for quality no matter how good the marketing is. Similarly, this time Modi's hard quality work would put to shade all bad products whatever be the marketing by the crooks in media.

Power concentrated with one person, dodgy land deals, no democracy in the party, fake development, telling lies... For instance when asked about his dream of becoming PM of India...Modiji replied "Kuch banne ke sapne mat dekho. Kuch karne ke sapne dekho". This is the essence of Gita. If Modiji lusted for PM post then he too would have started vote bank / appeasement politics like all others. He is truly following Raj Dharma in letter and spirit. When asked if muslims will be safe under his rule, he replies.."Every Indian will be safe under him". Modiji should be made PM for 20yrs.

  36. MSM is going bonkers these days. Anything Modi does its has to be criticized , debated and eventually denounced. So when he announces candidature from 2 LS seats, there's a debate - "Should netas be allowed to get away with this", notwithstanding that since elections started netas have been doing this. that was one.
Second, when he held a road show on 24th. One guy obviously miffed at the swelling crowds started saying -"Isn't there a better way to file nomination. Shouldn't they have online nomination, to save resources etc". It was so biased, it was funny. I mean, why do they started debating only when r. Modi does something. Its started irritating me considerably.

Another point I wanted to note - Zee News was the only channel to discuss the dastardly act of SP workers of washing MMM statue after Modi had paid homage. This act smacks of untouchability which is a crime in India. It was strange that other channels did not have anything to say about that. These elitists are covertly encouraging untouchability and social ostracization. This should be highlighted.

  37. Ravinar, Perhaps this is one of your best articles. And you did write eloquently without strong words or abuses (which our secular media seems especially liable to) and that I consider a real asset for you.

    1. One important thing for Modi is, when for the first time he was anointed as CM of Gujarat, people had very few expectations of him as he was a new comer. He was able to work effectively improving Gujarat and marketed his achievements creatively and always had managed people's expectations.

    2. Some of the BJP sympathizers also say 2007 was closer fight between BJP and Congress more than what many people believed, it was the time Sonia gave the oppurtunity through "maut ka saudagar" to Modi. It was also the time when the reforms were unleashed but were still not fruitful (since economic reforms deliver with a lag).
so he utilized the weak congress to his best and marketed effectively, as the fruits of reforms have slowly come to people, he never looked back.

    3. For a PM Modi, it will be hugely different proposition. Assuming he has to depend on allies and will have little time to realize the huge expectations that have dawned on the public suffering from high inflation, corruption, security and misgoveranance. Modi's real test will be now and he has little time for the English media to frame opinion about him. When some reporter asked what BJP would do in 100 days if it were to come to power. Modi simply answered why should we? we have 5 years to showcase us to people, Simply he understands that media after few weeks of "shock" and "going into the shell" will come out after 100 days and will claim nothing has changed. Modi knows it and his response was likewise.

    4. Modi clearly knows unlike Congress BJP will not get credit anything good that they do it India.
    a) You see scams have already disappeared from our News channels and even if BJP ensures no scams are unleashed, BJP will not get the support for not being corrupt.
    b) Improved economic development will be pointed as marketing cycles of upswing and downswing with little relevance to politics of the day.
    c) Improved goveranance will not touch media since "there is always that one dirty street of colony to show".
    d) Lack of law-and-order will be blamed on central govt and anything pointed by bjp is countered as "running away".
    e) Any slight to the media will be painted as hunting media.
f)Any disaffected BJP individual (like jaswant) will be given huge importance.
g)If he is tough with pakistan he is blamed for being fascist and if he returns to diplomacy, it is painted as wimpy charecter of modi.
h)Any reform, especially with respect to privatization is termed as selling the country and any attempt to improvise public spending is painted as cutting down essential expenditure.
i)Any revision of highly one sided leftish gargle is blamed for implementing Hindutva agenda.
    j) Opening defence sector to private is painted as closing domestic creativity while any militarization will be compared to hitler's militarization.
k)Any development is seen through disenfranchising of the farmers as we need land to setup industries and the allegations of crony capitalism.
    l) NDA is more pro-active in oil exploration which will be painted as wasting precious ta payers money.
    k) pressing for more indigenization (see contrary to point j) ) will be seen as forcing low quality defence equipment on the Army.
    And more...
One thing I am sure though. Mod will be unfazed.

Now its latest slogan is...support Third Front to stop Modi.

  42. such a wonderful analysis. This suggests that our media folks either have no common sense or paid to act like bimbos of under-performers. Even normal people are better connected with the reality of marketing than these 'stupid intellectuals' papads, which r never good for consumption. One more thing, if at all MARKETING ALONE works, then Chandra Babu Naidu should have remained CM of AP even now. He is d king of marketing even NOW. The reality is, he failed in certain indices during his governance which resulted in his defeat. But he also believed in marketing alone that time. First of all, papads should be tastier then only TV ads make the sales to sustain further as pointed by our be loved Ravinar ji.

    1. Chandrababu Naidu failed to consolidate in AP pretty much for the same reasons why NDA did not win in 2004 .
Rigged electoral rolls and rigged EVMs ( congress - navin chawla combination )
Over reaction on 2002 by TDP and others in criticising bjp rule in Gujarat.
      Mass conversions in AP
NGOs and Maoists working against him.

Narendra Modi could manage this better than TDP thru ban in conversions in Gujarat, consistently sticking to only one view thru out his tenure , commitment to hindutwa, not succumbing to media pressures and off course , thru better governance and development agenda.

  45. Bizarre that countless hours everyday is recorded and broadcast over Modi's every move, his past, family members, and the views of all his critics, with a few supporters thrown in for balance. But not one hour in total, between all channels has been put together about Mrs. Sonia Gandhi's family and / or an analysis of her decisions / policies and their consequences. Its the most pathetic double standards that even the world media seems to have overlooked. Truely, we're on our own.

  49. Ramdev Baba is a hindu saint, so the TV channels can batter him left, right, and centre. Headlines after headlines to run him down when he actually did not say it (the word honeymoon) in the context that everybody is taking it. The channels will have a TV debate on it. And the channel will run the news again and again and again though Baba Ramdev apologised for the use of the word if at all it was taken in a different context. So where is the need to run the news again? This practice has become pretty normal in our TV studios.
But when a Catholic priest commits a rape in Kerala, (happened a day or two ago) there is a conspiratorial silence on the whole issue. I did not see such a headline in TOI nor did I see any of the TV channels reporting it or debating on it with the Human rights activists like the Grovers etc. The 44-year-old father, Raju Kokkan, of Catholic archdiocese of Thrissur, is in hiding after having committed his deadly sin on a girl child.
So the question is whose game is the media playing? Its (media) double standards are so clear that one begins to wonder why is the Indian media so sick. BTW honeymoon has two meanings: (i) a holiday by a couple who just got married (ii) the period of time at the start of a new activity when nobody is criticised and everybody is enthusiastic. E.g Rahul’s honeymoon is over. What could that mean? It means the period when he was not under the critical loop is over.
The meaning of words change with time. Honeymoon can mean enjoyment that is not related to sex. Here is another one: If you are not aware, the word “fucking” is not only very much common in the west to express deep anger, but it’s also in the Oxford dictionary and English textbooks. Ex: People are fucking sick of the double standards of the media. Sad, all the TV channels are taking on Ramdev, if that’s not bashing then what is. Isn’t it time to stop the bashing for TRPs…26th April 2014

    2. I also had the same feeling. Baba Ramdev has made a great contribution to India in many ways. He deserves our salute for his services to the nation. His only fault is that he represents greatness of our culture. Only crime he has committed is he criticized Chinese Gandhi's which even some BJP sleeping beauties does not dare to do. His every action is painted by paid media as sheer foolishness.
On the other hand we have Pappi Wadera. What is her contribution to India. 24*7 non stop coverage has totally exposed the gobar which is in huge abundance in her European mind. When I compare media coverage of these two I feel very sad. Sure, Indian people deserve better media which is committed to truth and fairness.

      Agree .
Whilst I do have a lot of respect for baba ramdev and what he has done for India - but off late he seems to have gone bonkers . he has to be careful with his words . i think that somewhere he is getting a feeling that he has not got his due ( from media, government in terms of respect ,accolades ) and so some desperation perhaps. His brand /image is a huge marketing success of the indigenous kind, but he craves for something more . I may be wrong , but he need not have an opinion on everything under the sun.

    4. I feel that people like Baba Ramdev are a bit raw when compared to the sophistication of people from other religions. In a recent program with Barkha he was asked by Bukhari's brother to invent an Asana to improve love and compassion in Modi and BJP and Ramdev accepted it. The Patanjali yoga sutra explains how various chakras affect life's emotions and how yoga in general and breathing in particular can help human beings attain Godly status. The irony is that call for compassion comes from religious leaders of faiths which have an history chequered with violence against natives and other religions.

Just read your Comments and there are lots of meaning of one word and these News Traders will Twist it ti suit their advantage. why to blame a Person who is doing a great job for the Humanity all the News Traders have one thing in common Bash anything Hindu. What is the Point discussing about Mrs. Vadra Looks like her grandmother. Her Grandmother gave that Slogan "Garibi Hatao" and after 30 Years Congress was unable to remove poverty from Bharat. Why News Traders never asked her a Question. Modi is Right when they have so much against him why the Government of India is not Filling Cases against him and his Party. When Priyanka Vadra is Campaigning for Congress she must answer all the Question raised by the BJP / Modi about the Inflation / Scams / MisGovernance / Internal Security / Women Security / Soldiers Beheading / Outside Security. It Looks Like that All the Channels and NewsPapers want to divert the attention of the People from all the Misdeed of UPA Government. If all the Channels are to take single words in to debate than these people will also not be able to Make the News / CookUp the Stories. That shows How Bankrupt these People have gone for a Crumb thrown to them. So far in Bharat there were hardly any Editors and NewsPaper who goes against the Congress Government where as Ground Realities are Totally Different. This is the Election where all the Corrupt People been Exposed. So if you people still want to discuss the Double Standard of these News Traders. Again want to make a Point Priyanka is Behaving like Her Mother and Brother without any Accountability Just Hoot Scoot and Go.

  62. It’s just looks like happening as per the script; change of guard at the centre and Modi becoming the PM, though. At least Modi cannot regret that he hasn’t put in enough efforts to get his tally go past 272+. I mean his managerial and marketing skills have been exemplary to try and beat all the odds atrociously stacked against him.

But there’s something creepy about the whole affair, if you look at the phenomenal increase in the numbers of voters who participated in this election, Nandan Nilekani’s loose criteria for getting Adhaar card and of late the MSM’s extra penchant for the ‘Priyanka’ thing in Congress. To cap it all, the ‘imperfect’ EVMs. Wild bad hunch!!! of course, given the track record of this Congress, they could have easily been trying out everything from the outside the book to get back to power by hook or crook.

Though, I want to keep myself awake to new hopes and genuinely wish that it happens that Modi becomes PM for the good of this nation, the prejudice and negativity around the politicians (even amongst some of BJP seniors!), intellects and the media in 2014 gives a different perspective altogether. Hope Ravinar, your guess isn’t as bad as mine!!!!

  64. respected sir, this post is very close to my heart because it touches the aspects of marketing. sir, i have often wondered why do people feel offended if it is said modi markets himself well. i am a hardcore salesman and sales and marketing is something i've done throughout my life. i'll make a small point, marketing and politics share a 1 very small yet very important feature. both have to touch the pulse of the people and i strongly believe, someone who cannot market himself properly will find it very difficult to be a good politician. thanks for this article, like always it was a joy to read. regards

  65. If the product is not good enough sales people will not be able to do anything. You can manufacture the best product but it is the sales dept without which your product is useless. Many such debates continue within any company especially during time of yearly increment.

People from media think that they are the maker of both king and kingdom. They always try to undermine efforts of common people. They cannot think anything beyond brand, marketing, etc., useless ideas like brand Gandhi, brand Buddha, Rajanomics, sonia unhappy, emotional rahul,etc.. Now, coined, ‘political marketing’.

Cong, left and other allies are not scared of BJP but RSS. That’s why they always bring RSS before BJP. Why? More than 65% people of India still live in villages. And, RSS reaches into the kitchens of common people of rural India. RSS listens and understands their problem and try to solve, more than any political party. Modi is a Sayamsevak and now in India he understands mass and class more than any political leader. In every meeting he first thanks karyakartas. With these karyakartas, Modi has successfully addressed grievances and angers of people and able to assure them of good governance and justice. His leadership quality is not only beyond question but also rare. present situation has made people frustrated, angry and they are equally scared about their future. It’s Narendra Modi’s leadership which has given a ray of hope to 120cr. population, devastated by corruption and loot of congress for over 60 years. Most of these people don’t have any idea about Gujarat or its development as they depend on regional or national channels and news(!)papers. And you know what kind of news(!) these agents telecast or publish.

So far in most of the part of India, Sayamsevaks have not received any kind of support from so called, tall & short leaders. Many brutally murdered(even today), forced to leave their homes but still fighting to give people their rights. So to you it is a result of ‘political marketing’ when you see lakhs of people in modiji’s rally but I see it as a result of selfless sacrifice of thousands of ‘Karyakartas’ and ‘Sayamsevaks’.
