Karnataka & After

Of all the states that the Congress party has lost to the BJP in recent history, two have bothered them the most. One is Gujarat and the other is Karnataka. States like MP, Chattisgarh or Rajasthan haven’t upset them that much. All the last three named were often included in the BIMARU states and are not major cash cows for Congress hence lesser worries. This is not true of Gujarat and Karnataka, both big cash cows.

Over 15 years the Congress has tried every trick in the book to dislodge the BJP from Gujarat, especially since Narendra Modi became CM. They filed bogus cases through proxy NGOs, used media houses like NDTV, CNN-IBN, Headlines Today and their group outlets to throw muck against Modi but couldn’t manage to dislodge him. When the BJP returned to power in Karnataka in 2008 there was a danger that it could go the Gujarat way and Congress may never be able to recover that state. Therefore, Congress, their parrots in the media and a few handpicked officials set out in earnest to undo BS Yedurappa. Even the Governor Bharadwaj was playing his part. Santosh Hegde managed for the Congis what no one could manage against Modi. He linked him to some corruption cases and Yedurappa resigned in August 2011 and was even arrested under the Lok Ayukta police. That the Congress cause was helped by the BJP top leadership is also noted by people. LK Advani and Ananth Kumar have increasingly become unpopular for the mess in Karnataka. The churning in the party in Karnataka finally cost them the recent elections.

The vote in Karnataka against BJP is being peddled by the media as a vote against corruption. This is a BIG LIE being deliberately perpetrated by channels like NDTV, CNN-IBN and their sisters. Their attempt is to somehow balance the BJP as a party that is as corrupt as the Congress, like the sheep in the pic (via @Surnell). It is simply impossible for any party on earth in any democracy to be as corrupt as Congress. Sonia Gandhi has now surpassed the likes of Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Albert Fujimori, the late Marcos couple of Philippines or the late Saddam Hussein in corruption by her party. It is not just corruption, Sonia Gandhi & Co have destroyed many institutions in the country. The Supreme Court has called the CBI a “caged parrot” of the Congress govt. The only one that can match Congress in terms of corruption in India is our MSM. Naturally, the Barkhas, Sagarikas, Nidhis, Rajdeeps, Chaubeys & Co. were more thrilled than the Congress that the BJP was defeated in Karnataka. Maya Sharma of NDTV Bangalore was glowing and resplendent with smiles since the morning of May 8.  I’m not joking, she looked happier than she has in months.

I have written earlier in Breaking Rules that people have a gut feeling of whether there is progress and whether there is development. It’s not corruption but the fact that the internal wrangling in the BJP led to a break down in governance that appears to have cost them the elections. One must also note that for all the screaming from people like Rajdeep, Sagarika Sreenivasan Jain and Barkha about corruption in Karnataka they have never even remotely covered the corruption by YSR in Andhra Pradesh. YSR was easily the most corrupt CM running the most corrupt state govt ever in the history of India. His corruption story could easily run over 1Lakh crores. The proof of YSR’s outrageous loot remains his son Jagan Reddy, who reportedly acquired assets over 40000 crores from nothing, and is being prosecuted after YSR’s death. In Karnataka, from what I gather, people were simply fed up with the frequent theatre in the BJP govt and changing CMs. This was too much political capital spent on achieving too little for the state. NDTV even has a tie-up with Jagan’s media house for consultancy which pays them a handsome return. It says a lot when a media house has ties with a man being prosecuted for corruption, doesn’t it?

The pic from a programme on CNN-IBN says it all when the bimbo anchor asks the question if corruption is the main concern for voter. Sure, corruption is indeed a concern but I doubt that was the case in Karnataka. At least, for a change it is nice to see the usually dour Manish Tiwari smile. He is smiling not because of the Karnataka win but the Congress has brazened it out over Ashwani Kumar and Pawan Bansal. Corruption becomes a bigger concern in the national elections as has been seen in 1977 and 1989. In the states there are multiple local issues that dictate the outcomes of an election along with corruption.

History has it that when the Congress has been pushed out of a state it has rarely managed a comeback. It has been wiped out in Tamil Nadu, in Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, in Orissa and even MP and Chattisgarh are having second terms of a Non-Congress govt. In Bengal, although they claim to be part of the ruling coalition the Congress is really not in the reckoning at all for 35 years and TMC doesn’t need them. Even Punjab broke with history by giving the BJP-Akali a second term. Congress has been wiped out in Gujarat too. It is this fear of the same happening in Karnataka that has seen the huge media campaign against the BJP in Karnataka. The bigger danger for the media is the Congress losing out at the Centre in the next general elections. The lives that the media celebs now live through generous doles may come to an end if Congress loses the centre. Is that really so hard to fathom? Does it take an Einstein?

Thus, the media has to paint the only challenger to the Congress as an equally corrupt party which is a big lie. None of the regional parties like SP, AIADMK, DMK, BJD, JDU, TMC and others pose a serious threat to the Congress. Not like the BJP does. Therefore, the task assigned to the media is to destroy the BJP by hook or crook. Paint them as corrupt, communal, and fascist and use all kinds of tags. For the Congress, parties like the TMC or the SP are “manageable”, especially by using CBI so far. In fact, most of the regional parties in the Congress alliance have had a fair share in the corruption and loot. 2G, CWG, Coalgate are all part of shared loot. And then if the BJP has to be destroyed, it is natural that the media targets the strongest BJP leader that threatens the Congress and the Gandhis; Narendra Modi. Therefore, every media channel has proclaimed Modi magic has failed in Karnataka. They are desperate to imply that Narendra Modi does not have a national appeal and thus dissipate the threat he poses to the Congress. Fact is BJP did better in areas where Modi campaigned in Karnataka in a short burst but that is hardly important. BJP was bound to lose even if Jesus and Moses had come down to campaign for the party. And which channel screams most about it? Of course, the Congress bureau called NDTV. Take a look at this headline:

Desperate to show some win for Rahul Gandhi after all his failed campaigns in major states, NDTV (which is a specialist in “evolving” the Gandhi through Barkha Dutt) puts up his pic and that of Narendra Modi as if they were the main contenders in the Karnataka race. Hilariously, NDTV even puts up a “Purple Lotus” for the BJP. Looks like the anchors beat up the flower so much that it turned purple. It would have been nice if they had shown Modi with a black eye too… No? Well, you might see that in the next round of elections in Delhi in October or in MP, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan at the year end. People who have permanently thrown out the Congress from their state have realised that the party does precious little in terms of governance or development. Their only election winning tactic is plenty of doles for the poor under schemes named after the Nehru-Gandhi family and creating more monuments in their names as a “brand” reminder for people. I jokingly tweeted that ‘Namma Metro’ in Bangalore may now be renamed ‘Rajiv Gandhi Amma Metro’.

It is not so much that the Congress defeated the BJP in Karnataka but the BJP defeated itself. Most fair observers agree with that. Consequently, the party needs to sack those responsible from top positions. Their top leaders have to prove they are not the “Saffron Gandhis” and non-performers have to pay a price. As for the media, the ghost of a corrupt Congress is not going anywhere because of Karnataka. Where ever RahulG or SoniaG campaigned in Karnataka attendance was sparse. That national mood against the Congress doesn’t look reversible and that is bad news for NDTV, CNN-IBN and their unholy trinity.

  1. very nice and apt observations :-
If the BJP and RNS are listening they would be much better placed if they fired non-performers at central BJP who were responsible for elections not only in Karnataka but in Uttarakhand too.
I dont understand why have these performers not stepped down on their own. Really a shame if such people continue to reduce the morale of the cadre

    1. Yes, I fully agree with your view. In case, Rajnath Singh cannot fire any NPA (non performing asset), then at least he should lower their positions to honorary members and not give significant responsibilities to them. But they must be compensated for their failures. LK Advani should be made an honorary senior member and be consulted only when needed with no main responsibilities. RNS also should think about Sushma and limit her to Parliament and no significant position in the party.

At the same time, RNS must induct new energies into central BJP that should include youth leaders, eminent professionals, selfless party workers and most importantly BJP's CMs. This article in NewsInsight.net ( http://www.newsinsight.net/Timetotransform.aspx#page=page-1 ) clearly outlines the role of BJP's popular CMs.

The author N.V. Subramanian has excellent suggestion for RNS and BJP - "On account of states becoming so powerful, chief ministers also ought to be brought into central decision-making committees of the party. In this way, everyone becomes accountable, leadership is transparent and democratic, and the party becomes positioned on a higher plane than individuals."

Simply put, RNS should spend all his energies, intellect and all his wide experience and emulate like Advani who built the BJP party as a great organization and disciplined one. Advani had built the party from scratch after serious debacle in elections after Indira Gandhi's assassination and enabled Vajpayee to become first BJP (or NDA) PM.

  3. There is huge difference in LKA and ABB in BJP, one is always ride on Emotional sentiments (Ram mandir) and other one is leader of masses where opposition also likes him as his own party. After both (LKA is almost retire) who will mobiles BJP (difficult for cadre party as compare to dynasty) , IF Modi is next then what will happen to AJ, SS, YS, Anyway Congress will rule the way did since 1947, time to learn is only applicable to BJP. Its time to declare leader in Delhi fight election. (MP and CG is cake walk for BJP)

  5. Hats off !!! take a bow, once again a great piece by Ravinar. Ouster of BJP in Karnataka is part of large conspiracy hatched by the CON's with the help of Santosh Hegde & the slave media , in particular, the NDTV. They tried even more viciously with Gujarat but because of the exemplary corrupt free governance and also to some extent the suave political skills of Modi., they had egg, more eggs & more eggs in their faces... in any case, their smiles will soon evaporate as the year comes to a close when they will bite the dust in the coming assembly elections at Delhi & Rajasthan etc.,

I have serious doubt about the manipulation of EVMs as they did in 'Sivaganga' to hand over the constituency to whom? guess! Congis have infiltrated, indoctrinated their whims and fancies and corrupted the institutions of the country. I seriously doubt any honest elections as the erstwhile EC Mr. Naveen Chawla had provided many inroads for congis to win and win in those constituencies where they were sure to lose, only God can save the nation.

Really, Hegde should be investigated! Ask any Taxi Diver in Bangalore about Hegde and find out what people think of his honesty!

Look how the congis are supporting Mr. Ashwani Kumar and Mr. Pawan Bansal in these recent scams. BJP had neither learnt the art nor had developed media infrastructure to counter the 'pseudo secular cong bureau main stream media'. Also look the way India Today/Headlines Today group had gone! 19. I think BJP must take lessons from KhanCHris on how to make best use of the tiniest of scandals.See below the cunning counters given by KhanChris stagemanagers to counter the BJP charges.

1.BJP: There have been riots since 1947, Meerut,Bhagalpur,Nelli,Delhi 1984,Mumbai riots and what not
    KhanCHris: But what about Godhra?

2.BJP: what about the endless scams CWG, 2G,COalgate, Railgate, Helicopter,Bofors and so on
    KhanChris: BUt you have Bellary

3.BJP: What abt action on Sheila dikshit,Chidambaram,Khurshid,Vadra,Ashwini Kumar,Bansal?
KhanChris: But you have Nitin Gadkari

4.BJP: why did Rahul fail miserably in UP, Bihar,Bengal
Khangress: But Modi failed in Karnataka

5.BJP: what about bomb blasts in Delhi,Mumbai,Gujarat,Bangalore,Varanasi,Hyderabad?
    KhanCHris: But you have Malegaon

Such arguments are countless in the debates on Media. But yet KhanCHris gets away lightly. Only a NaMo or Smriti Irani is able to make them pay for what ever cunning tricks they try. I think a better media strategy is needed to begin with. WHy wait for Khanchris to accuse BJP of communalism? WHy not BJP start calling KhanCHris communal by its silence on islamic terrorism and acts of pseudo secular budgeting and policies. I think somewhere BJP is also trying to play to the muslim gallery without knowing that they can never get minority votes. I only wish they get out of this KhanChris B team mind set as soon as they can.Else it will be curtains very soon.

The invisible hand in Karnataka is the powerful Catholic lobby, which on the one hand has several retired Catholic IPS and IAS officers and on the other, a sweeping number of Catholic educational institutions. The Hindu products from these institutions are tuned to look at Rahul Gandhi as their youth icon and are ashamed to identify themselves with the Hindu icon Narendra Modi. With a steep increase in the number of new voters, most of them frpm Catholic institutions,Congress has reaped a rich harvest.Endless harassment by Sonia's man Bhardwaj and a biased Lokayukta, who selectively picked Yadyurappa while ignoring denotification scams during the periods of S.M.Krishna and Dharam Singh brought in total instability in the BJP government.

Modi's Victories are not because of Modi, but because of Gujaratis, Organizations, people and state government employees etc. But Modi's failures are his own.

Essentially Modi can never have success even if he achieves 100s of wins. But he will get even other's failures are attached to him. Take the example of Karnataka, if any central BJP leaders are responsible for Karnataka defeat, they are Sushma Swaraj(for close association and giving powers to Bellary Gali Reddy Brothers) and LK Advani (for his inaction to act on Yeddiyurappa for two long years).

  26. Thank you for a very good analysis for BJP's loss in Karnataka.
BJP gov did not get breathing space from MSM, Governor from day one. Small issues were blown up and kept in public conciousness while anything related to congis was kept under wraps.

Yediyurappa had a difficult start with Reddys's being supported by Swaraj, LKA & Ananth Kumar. He levied more tax on the mining barons resulting in first attempt to bring the BJP gov down.
He then ordered probe to check the illegal mining covering from 2000-2009. However Santhosh Hegade did not publish details of massive curruption under SM Krishna, Dharam Singh and HD Kumarswamy but targeted Yediyurappa. He was agian helped by LKA, SS and Ananth Kumar. Yediyurappa was sent to jail with no proper evidence of wrongdoing and was later cleared by high court. But MSM and congress along with section of BJP continued to blame Yediyurappa.
Yediyurappa not being a deft politician could not handle the situation and comitted harakiri bringing down BJP along with him.

  28. Ravinar,

    Great article once again

Regarding Modi's magic, I wanted to give a piece of fact that most of the National MSM didnt bother to report. The fact is I was following the karnataka elections closely and all the regional news channels in their opinion and exit polls gave BJP 6-8 seats in the Bangalore Urban area. And it is clear from the ground reports that BJP managed to retain 12 seats can clearly be attributed to galvanizing voters towards BJP. Anecdotal evidence suggest most people voted for BJP even all the things that has happened because they felt BJP is much better than Congress and Modi and BJP is far better than congress nationally.

Of course BJP magic failed in mangalore, which I clearly admit, but in Belgaum, again BJP and INC both managed to get 7 seats each.

Therefore contrary to National MSM portrayal of failure of Modi magic is complete nonsense

  31. MSM yesterday played a story about Vande Mataram and that MP walking out of Loksabha. But clever anchors of these MSM forgot to ask anything to BSP supremo Mayawati about her MP's attitude. Neither anybody asked Congress about their reaction to this incidence. Nobody asked Javed Akhatar, Sahabana Azmi and now a days, Farhan Akhatar (who tweeted many times on politics) or the secularist brigade about this. All the discussion was with with political analysts and observers and minority commission chairman or journalists, (even the chairman took a strident position in the begininng, but softened it afterwards) . They asked questions to Kamal Farooqui of SP. But nobody from BSP or Congress. MSM is portraying this a misbehavior of one errant MP. But it is not like that. There is a perfect design to this incidence. First that MP Barq claimed that he was not feeling good and hence he walked out. Then he became bold after the support from the TOP BSP leadership.

The moment loksabha was adjourned sine die, the plan of grabbing Muslim votes has come in to action. In UP BSP, SP and Congress are competing with each other for Muslim votes. BSP fielded it's MP with concrete action on the floor, SP is siding with Muslims via Kamal Farooqui claiming that Muslims will not sing Vande Mataram. Why nobody from media asked congress about their reaction? As far as BJP is concerned, it has made it's view clear on the issue via Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Shenawaz Hussain.

Just imagine if any mischief like this would have happened by anybody form the majority community, just imagine to whom they would have first gone to.

  32. You have rightly analysed. And very well written.Whilst you still seem to have hope , I do not share that optimism. Yes the MSM are very happy in years. These are all very selfish petty beings and it is going to open up more sources of income till the next general elections . The Karnataka results are a cause of deep anguish for all nationalists and right thinking indians. I give below some of my inferences from this setback for Bharat.
We Indians still are very amnesic , narrowminded and foolish. We cannot look beyond our caste, religion, gender. We cannot even think right about our own interest.
In one of the articles a year back ravinar had shown the difference( with some sample evidence) between congress misrule in Delhi and modi's good track record in Gujarat . Now the people of Karnataka have brought this congress misrule upon themselves . The media houses will add their mite in peddling lies and deluding those that still follow mainstream media.
And if Karnataka Is any indication of the future turn of events , then more bad days for India ahead . It Is plain simple karma for Indians for their foolishness and wrong choices

  35. Hello Ravinar,

I have been following Mediacrooks since more than 3 months, but I have read many of your articles going back to 2011 as well. No doubt you are worthy of all the praise you get daily. I never comment on your blog as I have nothing important to add.

I have a question for you, which might not be related to this article.

You always mention the "Holy Trinity". You rarely mention the 4th MSM member - TimesNow. I am not complaining, but I am just curious. I follow and trust TimesNow for most of my news. NewsHour is a program I prefer, because even if Arnab shouts, he does not use heavy words / tricky sentences which I cannot understand. He believes in plain speak, uses simple English (not OxBridge), and always conveys his opinions.

Since I follow your blog, I trust your capabilities as an Assessor of media. As I follow TimesNow, I am curious to know what the Assessor thinks of it, or where it stands compared to other channels, as per the Assessor I trust. As I said, this is nothing related to your current article. But if possible, I would like to know your frank opinion about TimesNow and Arnab. Can he be a ray of hope compared to others? Please consider my question.

    3. Well where Arnab scores over the others, is in giving air time to victims among aam aadmi who suffer at the hands of the establishment. He relentlessly follows up on those issues. Also in investigative journalism against corruption he makes a lot of investment. I am not sure about his political bias unless I see him in a BJP led regime.

    4. mediacrooks also comes hard and heavily on arnab and timesnow. my own submission: arnab being a normal human being is sure to have his own political inclinations and affiliations but unlike others he does not make them look evident. to say that he is a "doodh ka dhula hua" is a dangerous statement to make. it is good that corruption is always on the radars of times now whether it was nitin g or bansal or 2g or cwg, but as sir rightly pointed out, it is difficult to understand why nobody talks about ysr.

    5. I agree with you all... But regarding some of his newshours being stupid, I do enjoy the freedom of completely ignoring the show, if I feel it is being stupid on that day. I don't want to divert discussions any more, as this comment was really off topic, and I thank Ravinar for letting it stay. I guess, what I will be looking forward to, is another "Best and Worst" post.

  36. The 2008 Karnataka elections victory was not a very comfortable one for the BJP.

    http://eci.nic.in/eci_main/StatisticalReports/AE2008/stats_report_KT2008.pdf

In this statistical report by the election commission, we can see that the Congress had recieved greater number of votes (9091364(34.76% of total votes)) than the BJP (8857754(33.86% of total votes)). The Congress knew that a little muck thrown at the BJP would be very beneficial for them. So, they threw a catalyst in the form of Justice Hegde, and the BJP self-destructed itself. The congress percentage of votes(around 37%) hasn't changed much, whereas the BJP ended up losing around 10 % of vote percentage to the KJP.

  38. "Santosh Hegde managed for the Congis what no one could manage against Modi."

Ok, so if Santosh Hegde does his job by booking the CM for his corrupt practices he is a Congress agent is it? Going by the same logic is SC also a BJP bed partner for giving a clean chit to NaMo?

"The vote in Karnataka against BJP is being peddled by the media as a vote against corruption. This is a BIG LIE being deliberately perpetrated by channels like NDTV, CNN-IBN and their sisters."

So, you agree that BJP is corrupt, just not as corrupt as the Congress at the centre huh? Wonderful logic! What makes you think that the election verdict of Karnataka has nothing to do with corruption by the BJP? Of course people want a stable government but when the ministers and the CM himself openly indulge in corrruption and also openly stall the working of his own government, do you think the people will repose faith in him? To top it all the same CM acts like a nautanki by shedding crocodile tears on live TV. Beat that! And you seem to have sympathies for such a person. Great going! Keep it up!

Also, you had no issues when the same MSM branded UP election debacle for Congress as a failure for Rahul Gandhi, but when the same media say that Modi magic failed in Karnataka you come out with all guns blazing.

When I started reading your blogs I had respect for you since you showed the double standards of the media, but going by your blogs over the last one year, you have shown that you too are no different. You are doing for the BJP what you accuse the MSM of doing for the congress. They are Congress slaves, you are a BJP ass-licker.

    1. Absolutely,

Santosh Hegde let off many of the previous incumbents who were much deeper in mining scams. The point being made is all other inquiry panels and SITs used for Modi couldnt do what Santosh Hegde accomplished in Karnataka. Thats a simple point, nothing as complicated as you make it out to be. And calling me names is fine, but anyone equating Congress and BJP in terms of corruptions does need help.

Justice Hegde had only one mission 'that is to destroy Yeddy and BJP' and he had achieved that. Has any congi CM had gone through what NaMo or Yeddy had undergone?! You name one, then I would think twice about your comments that was not from congi supporter. I am neither BJP nor from any other party, but a person with some commonsense, logic and reasoning. 39. After a long time, you've come up with a blog that, to put it mildly, is mostly based on flawed analysis. Firstly, unlike in many other instances, MSM does acknowledge your central theme that its not a victory for the Congress as much its a defeat for the BJP. Even if they are 'peddling' it as vote against BJP's corruption. And they did so ever since counting started. Secondly, a BJP supporter demands a higher level of integrity (along with nationalism) from its leaders than a Congress supporter. And this is what MSM exploit. For every act of corruption by Congress, they point out a misdemeanor by someone in BJP. That is the main reason why Congress can get away looting a bank, but BJP can't even escape petty pickpocketing. I'm in Bangalore and I personally know may BJP supporters (including myself) who did not vote for BJP this time. To illustrate it further, MSM did not fail to mention VBS corruption before HP elections, but he still won. BJP on the other hand had to bring in Khanduri at the last moment in Uttarakhand and still lost, even though I didn't see MSM running a blitz on Nishank's corruption.

Your other point that Congress rarely stages a comeback in a state that it has lost is also flawed. Rajasthan, Maharastra, Andhra, Assam are the major ones that you should look at. As for Karnataka, Congress has been losing it and making comebacks for more than three decades now.

You do get in right in the last para when you move away from media's role. The main problem with the BJP is from within, MSM is just a small irritant.

You are wrong. You are referring a few states as examples but conveniently overlooking the number of states where Cong has been wiped out.. TN, UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Orissa, Bengal.. some of them big states. The post also mentions MP, Chattisgarh getting 2nd terms and Punjab getting a historic 2nd term. Considering the Cong is the oldest party which was in power in all these states the fact that they have been wiped out of some of these states is reality and you cant quote a few states where there has been ups and downs as examples. I am quoting states where they havent been in power for anywhere between 25 to 40 years. You cant deny that.

      Delete
    3. I'm not overlooking anything. Examples you've given are correct, but they don't prove anything because there are counterexamples that I gave. I do agree that Congress haven't made a comeback, and don't seem to be doing so in near future, in states where they've out of power for 25-40 years. But come on, thats a general fact applicable to all and not a revelation.

  42. well Written,But the fact is Modi magic dint failed, but Modi himself failed to do the magic, since the people of Karnataka absolutely failed gud leader in BJP,But as per my point of view, any political analysis would fail to justify why people of Karnataka have voted for congress, i can say, people Frustration with BJP would have done much favor to congress, Modi would have campaigned across the state, since as a true nationlizers u cannot find alternative or any hope except Modi it may be in karnataka or anywhere in this country. But BJP is continuously failing to project him in appropriate manner. Wish it tries to build party from grass root level with nil corruption, Nationalism has to be the one and only motto. If someone exposed corruption, let them do their job,I hate the idea of blaming hegde for exposing yaddi but keep silent on congi, that just shows the extent up to which he is with justice(No further comments). And moreover we cannot have BJP as a choice just because of 1 Modi,Intellectual level of Karnataka BJP is much more lower than anybody would have imagined. Never let BJP as another Congi, journey of congi in karnataka ahead is not simple,Unfit corrupt uneducated stupid leader are lined up in congi from top level to bottom. 47. Good Article Ravinar,
    why BJP lost?
1)Since you write about MSM, let me start with this first, BJP must never base its campaign on the perceptions it can build with the MSM. See for example both SP and BJP, while SP is touted as the biggest Goonda party in UP,BSP is treated as corrupt), both SP and BSP never waits for patronizing from the corrupt MSM and builds its party from ground-up (whatever its ideolgy is), once any of these parties win, the MSM of course, fawns over these parties. BSP is patronized as dalit beti becoming CM while SP's real face is hidden with the cloak of secularism and youthful exuberance (whatever it is) of Akhilesh yadav. I remotely remember how a section of media fawned over Vajpayee when he was in power. Point is power matters, not ethics which can conviniently can be reset.

2)As for Karnataka, if was an election to lose for the BJP. Not because of corruption, but because of the infighting, which showed BJP's government was drifting from one crisis to another. Yeedi and Sriramulu split votes for BJP without which BJP would have performed better but would not have come back to power. Congress just added 1.8% while BJP lost 12% (of KJP and BSR). The fact is small shifts matter in elections who vote on perceptions and this is where our corrupt MSM comes. Thye try to build perceptions of the Govt, but they only work for close elections not in Gujarat like states.

3)Karnataka was a bonus to Congress at wrong time for right wing because BJP was not only defeated but also self-destructed. The destruction obviously came due to Yeddy who worked for 40 years to bring BJP in karnataka (not Ananth Kumar, somehow Brahmins seems to be are a curse to BJP,Sushma and Vajpayee(in the long term for UP),Sad ) but was given unceremonious exit due to BJP's contradictions. BJP was becoming like Congress where central leadership decides what to do. When Yeddy is the guy who brought BJP to power and had implemented schemes to people (especially to north karnataka) it was obviously that his exit will seat the fate of BJP. With his exit, there was no other to propagate about their success and schemes. what was worse was that they could not have even refereed Yeddy's schemes. BJP instated Sadananda Gowda but bent over the pressure of Yeddy to instate Shettar. Gowda would atleast have claimed non-corruptibility but BJP was perceived neither clean nor supporting a strong leader.

4)Does that mean Yeddy is the most corrupt crook? To the contrary, yeddy was least corrupt when compared to Dharam Singh or SM.Kirshna, but he had to put up with Reddy brothers whom the central command supported. Sushma lost to Sonia in 1999 (or 1998?) where it was thought that bellary was a fort of Congress. Sushma never forgot this and tried to pull any power which can rival congress and so were Reddy's brought in. Yeddy was never comfortable with Reddy's and their blackmailing ways. Operation lotus was instated with the supported of central leadership inspite of Yeddy's misgivings. Yeddy of course is not completely clean and was to remain silent for Reddy brother's exploits, but few people knew that he was jailed by frivilous report by Lokayukta which alleged the minor de-notification scams to Yeddy but left out others.
5)Again contrary to the belief, this does not weaken modi but the central leadership headed by Advani (and the D4 gang), if he were to avoid the campaign, he would have been called as coward and now he campaigned and as BJP lost Karnataka (never mind Modi brought in votes in 2 of the 3 regions he campaigned) he was called as failure. The people who were the main reason for the mess (Advani and Sushma) never campaigned more than a meeting in bangalore, that is their hypocrisy while Modi has to face the people's ire along with BJP unit.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 6)After all the bravado by Advani and Team about kicking Corrupt elements (read Yeddi) from BJP and gloating to the Media. Media even didn't care about it and their journalists (maya sharma) were seen smiling with broad and relieved faces that ultimately their conspiracy hatched to defeat BJP was eventually a success. Now BJP lost one more important funding state for elections for the BJP and Now its only Modi who has to fund elections for the BJP. Why shouldn't he then take charge of the party then?
By the way, I think media fawning over the corruptions hat broke out in AP where 12 ministers were charged with corruption and 3 were chargesheeted by SC and 1 already in jail in addition to Jagan shows that this in actually is the biggest sin media is committing.
Yesterday, I saw vishnu som from NDTV was letting Bharathi to shout her mouth off and calling CBI a pet baby of Congress and even alleging indirectly that High court of AP too had a role to play!!

  49. Lesson Learnt From Goa and Karnataka's Election Results: -
"Loot of Nations Resource is not allowed"

In Goa M.B Shah report indicted Congress Govt including CM of the State for illegal Mining and In Karnataka Lokayuka Report and CBI Report both indicted BJP Govt colluding with Bellary Gangs and looting resources not only that, they deforested large part of forest reserve area...

Very Good Friend Of Mine From Bellary, who has seen very closely the rise of Bellary Brothers himself Told me yesterday..Why Santhosh Hegde was soft on 3 Former CM's...

Lokayuka of Karnataka didn't had wider scope of investigating wrong doing of Krishna, Dharam Singh, Kumarasamy, so by default they got let off the hook by Lokayukta without naming them as accused in illegal minning...But what stopped extending scope of investigation by BJP GOVT...????

Lesson So far not learnt by BJP: -
    "Retaliation"

People of Goa gave chance to BJP not only to Govern but to punish the culprit those named in illegal mining report even BJP campaigned in Goa promising action against those name in M.B Shah report. So far "No Work No Action"......Interested in debating whether to allow PLAY BOY Night Clubs or Not, BEEF Storage? What a RUBBISH kind of work they are carrying out in GOA..

Really FUN of having IITian as a helm of affair is going to cost them...

Same if congress would have been in such position to take action, they would have put BJP leaders in Jail in retaliation of losing election , see CM of the State served Night in Jail what else would be more humiliating, and embarrassing moment for BJP....BJP must speak out openly against Yeddy with such language the way he is speaking nowadays on News Channel...Not speaking openly against Keshbhai in Gujarat Election-2012 cost BJP more than 20 seats where they lost by very thin margin.....

Hope someone pass this information to Goa BJP to start action against corrupt congress leaders or else get routed out in next election.....Even I doubt will people of Goa vote for BJP in General Election....In spite of doing good works Gujarat-BJP could garner only 15 Loksabha Seats in 2009...

Ruling DMK could only managed to get 23 seats.. After A raja 2G scam (even when he was minister at center)..AIDMK had no chance at all before the 2G scam surfaced. In that case.. BJP has been fairly treated for corruption.. I completely agree that BJP is not as much big sucker as Congress.. But the fact remain BJP was corrupt in Karnataka and not a saint. So Folks relax.. Congress will come down crumbling in next general elections.. Question is whether BJP can get majority ( I guess 200, as BJP has no presence in as much as 165 Constituency like TN, Kerala..etc..)? I guess yes only if decide to field NaMo for PM post.

  52. There is certainly something wrong at the top in BJP. They've sidelined good performers like Yashwant Sinha, who is probably the unsung hero of the remarkable rise of India's economy in the Vajpayee govt. Others, who are real assets like Navjot Sidhu are feeling used and want to leave. Jaswant Singh was a doer but at one time he was all but booted out of the party. That despite taking all the undeserved s*** of Kandahar without complaining. In Himachal, Maheshwar Singh was CM material and had been serving the party for decades but had never been given any good post. He formed his own party just before the recent elections and played Yeddy in HP; his party sank but took BJP along with it. It is quite evident BJP is being run whimsically from the top. Had the guys at the top been in touch with the grassroots party workers things would have been different. And that even in the 2009 elections, when nobody was enthused about Advani as PM, except maybe Advani and a few others.

As for relying on the faithful "ideological" cadre from RSS, forget about it. RSS is as much riddled with time servers and over-ambitious types as any other organisation. Many join the RSS simply to gain a backdoor entry into BJP. I know a couple of such guys and they are not exactly saints. Moreover, they use the ideology stick to beat down any others in the party who never belonged to RSS (Yashwant Sinha is a prominent example). Modi was no doubt an RSS man but as CM of Gujarat he charted his own course. He consistently ignored the lists of candidates for tickets sent by RSS, using his own judgement instead. As a result in the last elections RSS actively worked to defeat him. BJP may have lost a couple of seats because of this.

Indians are seething for change. Real change. Not just a change in flags of the ruling party, doing nothing except tinkering with the system. The whole country needs Gujarat type change and more, which at the moment it seems only Modi can deliver. He should quietly start putting together a good team even now so that if the party has to split, than so be it.

    1. Dear Unknown,

I completely dis-agree with your comments suggesting NAMO to split the party. Only a true Congressman could wish that you sucker congress SOB.

For past some years, many corrupt Congi bastards have been trying to enter BJP through RSS backdoor to get easy acceptability amongst the BJP cadres. As far as RSS working against NAMO in Gujarat, such action did not have support from RSS top brass. It was more of a growing up process for Gujarat RSS too to accept NAMO's ever growing popularity on basis of governance. Importantly, I feel some Delhi based leaders are trying to counter NAMO using Advaniji & the Media is having a field day due to it. It's almost as if Advaniji has become Media's darling against NAMO.

I feel that keeping Yashwant Sinha behind the door is a well thought decision and right decision taken at right time..

    Will tell WHY?

Yashwant's SON will be another STORY same as ASHWINI Family affairs..This guy has got lot of stake in major companies involved in manufacturing Renewable Energy Sources (Even is Board Of Member is one such company which is from India), Now he has floated his OWN IPP (Independent Power Producer)Company selling powers to state govt one I remember is Gujarat purchasing power(My colleague too has joined this organization). So using his fathers influence he is expanding his business (I will put it as BJP's Vadra), so later could be embarrassing for BJP if Yashwant is kept visible to MSM and rivals...

When Yashwant was openly supporting Modi for PM candidature, why Modi didn't reinstalled Yashwant to Parliament Board? Sounds starnge. Modi might have smelled Rat in such open support, so I personally feel Modi might have taken call on this.
