Modi's Facts Sting UPA, Rattle Media

The first one was shot dead, the second was beaten to death and the third was stabbed to death…. Relax, that’s not from some silly movie, just our real life CPM (Communist Party – Marxist). Says Firstpost: "His speech was surprisingly vivid in details of the murders that he said the party had planned and executed. He said, the party had made a list of 13 people and killed four of them – all Congress functionaries. “One, two, three, four…” he said narrating the sequence of murders. The star of the foolish street-corner spectacle that plunged the CPM into a fresh crisis is MM Mani, secretary of the party in Idukki in Kerala". Funny part is, why is the CPM killing Congressmen? The CPM is a natural ally of the Congress in ideology. They have been friends and even allies at the centre. What has been revealed is that the butchering of opponents by Communists in Bengal and other places has been a long historical process. Well, shoot, beat or stab to death even criminal parties are friends as long as they keep certain forces out. Um... You can usually tell such forces by the colour: Saffron. In this quest all crimes, murders, corruption, looting of the state or nation, everything can be forgiven.

And when those claiming to be ideological descendants of secular figures like Aurangzeb or Stalin have to fight such forces they won’t fight on “performance’. They will tag them with names: Communal, fascists, extremists and for their biggest performer; they like Hitler or Joseph Goebbels even better. Even members of the rattled, secular media join the chorus. People like Sanjiv Srivastav of Headlines Today or Kumar Ketkar of nowhere. And yes, it gets harder each time to figure which one to name from NDTV and CNN-IBN. Once their leader, Guttermouth Manish Tiwari of Congress, sets the tone, the paid mice in the media happily follow. All this because Narendra Modi not only attended the BJP national meet in Mumbai but also delivered a stinging speech against the UPA. Unable to respond to anything that Modi said, Guttermouth came up with this: "Gujarat CM is a frustrated man. It seems the soul of Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda minister during the Nazi regime of Hitler in Germany, has gone inside him. He has crossed all limits”. Oh! Haven’t we heard this before? Modi frustrated because Gujarat is failing, farmers are dying in Gujarat, corruption is at an all-time high and he is going to lose the next elections. I can understand that part. The good part for Manish Tiwari is that he’s only caught with his mouth open so far unlike his former media colleague, Abhishek Singhvi, who was caught with a lot more open. So let’s summarise what Modi said on May 24 in Mumbai: (These are excerpts of the essence and not a full translation)

On droughts: If the River-linking dream of NDA as conceived by Atal Behari Vajpayee was pursued there would be no drought in Maharashtra. Farmers wouldn’t be killing themselves in Maharashtra. But since UPA came to power in 2004 that dream was killed.

There’s no Neta, Neeti aur Saaf Neeyat (No Leader, Principle/Policy or good Intention). In the absence of these one can see the current state of the nation. Nirmal Baba is in the news these days. The Delhi’s central govt is no different from a Nirmal Baba durbar. UPA promised inflation will be controlled in 100 days if they came to power. They make promises like Nirmal Baba and get their own agenda accomplished.

PM has stated many times over that Naxalism is the biggest threat to the country. Yet, in the report card for 3 years of UPA2, there is not one single mention of naxalism or what actions or measures are being taken to tackle it.  PM has stated Malnutrition is a “National Shame”. That it’s a shame for all Indians. However, in the 3-year report there is no mention of reason or remedial action.

PM often talks of coalition compulsions. Our Foreign Minister (S.M. Krishna) who represents the pride of the country all over the world stands up in UN and reads the speech of Portugal. What coalition compulsions cause such a goof-up? PM is from Congress, Defence Minister is from Congress. Yet, never in our history since independence has the Centre been in consistent conflict and dispute with the Army. What coalition compulsions have created such conflicts?

Madam Soniaji says: “Promises will not do, performance must happen”. This only means all these years they (UPA) were making empty promises and she accepts there has been no performance. From Indiraji’s promise of “Garibi Hatao” there have been only promises and no performances. They merely made promises while practiced vote-bank politics.

There’s a 20-point programme since 1975 for the poor and every govt since then has followed this programme. A govt cell monitors this programme. If one sees the reports of the last 10 years the top 5 performers under this programme are BJP or non-Congress states. I raised this issue with the PM. But instead of asking Congress states to perform, the PM has stopped the ranking of states itself under the programme so the world won’t come to know.

In his 3-year report card the PM mentions national agriculture growth rose from around 2.0-2.25% to 3.0-3.25% - 1%? Is that change? In Gujarat, where 7 out 10 years there are droughts, agricultural growth is 11%. And the PM is claiming a national growth of 1% as a great achievement in his report card. If this 1% national growth continues the nation will sink and people will die. Whatever growth he claims is achieved from the performance of a very few states.

For the first time PM has accepted something in his report card. He has admitted that centre-state relations should improve, which clearly implies he has failed in maintaining these relations. Instead of treating states with respect and honour, the centre treats states like they were the centre’s municipal corporations. The UPA has caused more damage to our federal structure than any other govt. in the last 50 years. To misuse the constitution to constantly destroy states is the handiwork of this govt.

The centre proposed the NCTC which seeks to disarm the state from its law enforcing duties and encroach upon it. But in so many years the centre has not been able to extradite one single terrorist back to India. They are in charge of borders but they haven’t been able to stop the flow of arms to naxals. All money through hawala channels to terrorists are under Centre’s jurisdiction, including RBI. They have not been able to control this. State has no interference in that. Our borders are being infiltrated by terrorists and illegals but BSF is under the Centre but they are not able to stop this. Instead of stopping such infiltration they are playing politics with the states with NCTC.

In our population of 120 crores 50% are women. Yet, in his report card, the PM does not make a single mention of what the UPA has done for them. In a country of youth the PM’s report card has no mention of any skills programme for the youth. When asked, PM had once mentioned they are creating 500 skills programmes. I told him China is doing 50000 skills programmes. There is absolutely no mention of any such programme in his report.

Highly unfair of Narendra Modi! First he dares to read that UPA-3 year report and then he has the audacity to quote from the report and pin-point UPA failures. Even all Congress members, UPA members and God’s messengers in the media wouldn’t have read the whole report. I didn’t see one single program on any news channel discussing the report threadbare. Well, it’s not their job. But NDTV which reported the “Goebbels” tag gleefully has a summary of the report.  Read: Highlights:UPA II releases report card. Some opening lines from the achievement list: We need to…, Despite adverse…, Have to quicken…, Need to improve…, Public frustration and anger…, Difficult decisions…, Urge all parties…! Of course, these achievements are enough for media not to analyse if there are facts and what exactly was promised that is missing. I haven’t seen any thorough analysis.

Now, apart from highlighting Tiwari’s comments through the night and the next day and reporting on supposed infighting in BJP or Ram Jethmalani’s letter to Nitin Gadkari not one in the Congress or their alliance partners, Mainstream media, are yet to challenge the content of what Modi has said. Not one point made by him has been challenged, except an emotional “Crossing the Laxmanrekha on Army” by Tiwari. Ouch! That awful truth about the conflicts with the army must have hurt. Most TV channels blacked out Modi’s speech. Some like Zee TV carried it partly. To my knowledge only Aaj Tak carried the full speech. Rajdeep Sardesai simply couldn’t suffer more than 10 minutes of Modi so CNN-IBN quickly shifted to other stories. All the news channels and even print media were headlining “LKA, Sushma skip rally” as if that were some major calamity. And any discussion, if at all, was about what political moves Modi was plotting. He’s a politician, get used to it!

That Narendra Modi rattles the Congress party is understandable. Why is our hyper ventilating media so rattled? I guess someone speaking facts is at odds with their stated mission of propaganda and spreading lies. After all, didn’t Karan Thapar’s promo on CNN-IBN state: “I don’t want to go into the facts, the facts are disputable”. Yeah.. when it comes to Narendra Modi, facts and truth are unhealthy for the media as they learnt from the SIT report, especially when the ‘honest’ PM and Sonia Gandhi are targets.

  1. If our media absents to dub the communists as red then their true color is crystal clear. When they address the BJP saffron [in Telugu it means (sannasi) useless] what degree or post graduation they are going to attribute for the blood thirst party, the communist? The secret of the way of their three decade ruling in west Bengal has come to light now and for execution they borrowed the services of migrated Bangladeshis; on whose favour now the blood thirst rekindles the citizenry

  3. Manish Tewari was ever unbearable, and he proves it everytime. The arrogance and sanctimonious views that he projects is just a manifestation of the Congress's President's attitude. Long gone are days when Leaders were loved for their warm speeches, now we have gutter mouths like MT who have only goal to please the Maino.

  5. As usual right on dot Ravi. I really love your posts. Your dissection of Indian media can be termed as "work of genius..". The current Indian media is actually the biggest obstacle in India when it comes to enlighten people about the Govt's mistakes. Actually in Pakistan the media is absolutely unforgiving of any mis-deeds of their Govt (which is hardly present there anyway...). But over Govt is competing real hard with Pakistan to get the mantle of worst elected Govt of the world. The hindi media channels are also equally guilty of licking the Govt's feet. Just hear this -http://aajtak.intoday.in/videoplay.php/videos/view/698661/2/206/Jawaharlal-Nehru-laid-the-foundation-for-growth!.html
Amazing way to portray Congress agenda.

But the sad part about Indian democracy is the role of BJP. Nobody hears their Sushma's and Jaitley's in public (Outside Parl) about the loot that is happening. Amazing opposition. Seems like they too are competing with the opposition parties in Pakistan to prove who is worse. At least Pakistan have Imran Khan but our Media wont allow us to test Modi as PM.

NDTV covered it partially in between discussion group.
Probably visual only. I could not bear it when one of the team started speaking.

  7. Hello Ravi, Thanks for a timely commentary, as usual with clear views and analysis. What can one say about the ongoing sham of marketing Untruths as Truths? It seems to be almost our National tradition. For a moment, just for a moment - I am ready accept all charges against Narendra Modi happily. But what about those who are pelting stones merrily? Are they pious and clean? Far from it. The only difference being: UPA II is a much murkier and larger sham. And anyway, who really cares about what popular political pundits and commentators have to say? We all know that TV panel discussions are even bigger show off, yet another tool of 'paid' publicity stunt. Because, it is good to say " Truth will prvail." But cold fact is: The powers that be are absolutely scared of Truths, and the camouflage. Thanks and regards - KRV

Some time back I had mentioned in my comment that" As & when NAMO starts making moves towards Delhi, the Media would then start spreading the Propaganda about the Internal Politics of BJP to divert attention from Congress misrule". They have really started that with a bang. As if Internal Power struggle of BJP is a national calamity more important that Drought, Price rise, Corruption & Governance. Advani verses Modi, Sushma verses Modi, Sanjay Joshi Verses Modi, Yediurappa praising Modi etc etc etc. Half of the time these Mediacrooks would discuss about the sham IPL & the other half would be wasted in planting Anti Modi stories.

  10. Excellent written as always, more than Congress the media is the biggest enemy of the nation. They always blackout Modi's speech which the country deserves to know. I was changing the channels repeatedly just to chk the live speech. Aajtak just showed for 7-8 minutes. Zee news mostly covered it but with breaks. all the other channels barred it. HT showed full recorded after the meet was over. but saw it full on Tv9 gujarati.

Your comment is not worth responding since you only believe in what you think is right and dont bother to check facts. SIT, Courts dont have any meaning for you and the only meaningful ones are likes of Teesta & party. Please live in your "zombieland"

BJP should be clever to use this opportunity. Let Modi win the Gujrat elections and then make him member of Parliamentary Board Committee. Let congress repeatedly say about Modi and potray that they (first family) are shit scared of him.

  13. Dear Unknown,

Were the Gujrat riots first ones in India. Hope you share the same logic of not becoming PMs when applied to other riots in India. I am sure your logic would differ with respect to Congress-Sikh riots of Delhi.

Akhilesh Yadav on that seat by virtue of being someone's son. Mayawati as PM - by what logic. Their own state people dont trust them fit to govern for more than one term and had BJP maintained its mental equilibrium and had not supported Mayawati thrice as they did, she could well have been part of history books.

Before giving you detailed reply, if you have the knowledge about what you think was Modi's role in Gujarat please enlighten us by providing details rather than writing one line "i know all" statements which is more in line with Teesta Khan / Bandookwala / Javed Anand and the likes logic.

Also if you can also mention how the role of other politicians as CM during riots was different from that of Modi as CM.

  14. Mayawati has the stamina, determination and also dare to rule the country with an iron hand. And she represents depressed classes is another advantage. We need such strong willed person to rule the country. As for her personal wealth, it will be used for strenghthening her party as she is unmarried. Under her, I am sure, naxalism will be wiped out and all regional politicians will be reduced to zero. And dalits will walk with their heads held high.

There is hardly any issue with wanting Mayawati, Akhilesh or Lalu Prasad as Prime Minister. No problem there.

What you should wonder, though, is that you have dragged in an issue of some PMship which is not even remotely an issue of the article nor mentioned even once in the post. This shows how MSM is successful in filling some people's head that the only angle to Modi's speeches is that he has PM ambitions. You are just one of the victims.

  19. The kind of analogy Manish Tewari has used against Narendra Modi;
    He is piranha fish
Nero was fiddling when Rome was burning
He is like Joseph Goebbels , propaganda minister. BTW just let others know that Joseph Goebbels is seen as the doyen by world renowned various intelligence agencies.
Having said that, I don't understand to what constituency the congress spokesperson is appealing or addressing.
Even if we believe Mr Yogendra Yadav's (another congress stooge) survey, there will be minuscule number of people who will know Joseph, Nero and piranha fish and they will switch their loyalty after listening Manish Tewari's blabbering against Modi.
Therefore, it is obvious that Manish Tewari is not responding to Modi but to his own people to consolidate his own position in the party and get appreciation from the armchair analysts who never go for vote.
Contrary to this, Modi's appeal strikes the right cord of the people, like Nirmal Baba's simile with Manmohan Singh's Govt. and his promises to control the price hike.
Helpless and nervous Congress is finding it difficult to rein the public anger against misgovernance and its apathy for common man.

With all due respects, the proof is your posts in 2010 wherein you had taken a neutral position vis-a-vis Modi. Where is lie here? I mentioned P.sreekumar who is a respected IPS officer wrote about the meetings held by Modi. where is lie here perpetrated by me? Sreekumar is held in high esteem for his honesty and integrity and if you are implying he is a liar then you should back it up. I am simply mentioning that he has written about the meetings held during the riots. I also had written that congress is inept and inefficient. Is that a lie? I said it is a lesser evil. You will say it is not so its a lie. But that is a subjective issue and we can talk on it. Why tag me as a liar? Is it necessary that anyone who visits this blog has to be a supporter of BJP?

    1. First off, there are many critical comments on this blog.. some of them even in bad taste. Bad taste is not a crime. However, since you quote my own post of 2010 you should have provided the link.

That apart, all the Sreekumar, Sanjiv Bhatt stuff has been comprehensively dealt with by the SIT. If you are hell-bent on not accepting any legal process and wish to perpetrate the same lies and deception as the MSM does then I WILL put you in that category. You are still free to comment on the contents of this post but wanton comments inspite of legal process do not constitute fair comment. If Modi is guilty of anything it is now for some court to decide. Not you. Not the MSM. Thats my final word.

    2. R B Sreekumar is not a relaible witness and whatever he has quoted is mere a heresy, that precisely what SIT thinks and feels about him. I don't know who is the certifying agency of giving the certificate of integrity to R B Sreekumar.
      Excerpts from SIT report;
"Shri R.B. Sreekumar has claimed that Shri K. Chakravarthi had spoken to him on 28-02- 2002, about the said meeting and had claimed that CM uttered these words. However, Shri K Chakravadhi, the then DGP has categorically denied any such conversation with Shri R.B. Sreekumar and as such, it becomes hearsay evidence, which can not be considered as evidence for any action."

Shri R.S. Sreekumar, in his representation dated 03.08.2009, had mentioned the names of a different officer, who according to him, had attended this meeting. Significantly, name of Shri Sanjiv Bhatt had not been indicated by him. This goes to support that Shri Sanjiv Shalt was not present in the meeting. As regards the deposition of Late Haren Pandya; formerly MoS Revenue before the Concerned Citizens tribunal, in which he had claimed to have attended the meeting called by Chief Minister on the night of 27- 02-2002, all the participants have denied the presence of any of the Cabinet Ministers/MoS at the said meeting.
I don't know what is the certifying agency who talks about integrity of Mr Sreekumar but Hon'ble Supreme Court appointed SIT thinks otherwise.

    3. @ Menka Please see how @Bharat Srivastava has mentioned facts in a very respectable manner. That commands some respect. 23. BJP should nominate NAMO as their PM candidate without thinking twice. They would either get absolute majority or they would be wiped out. Either way this is how a political party should live by... to be accepted or rejected by the voters. After all they had only 2 seats in the past and it can't get worse than that... Also, I am seeing the two favorite Congress media Army, The IndianExpress and NDTV working on Team Anna rift. They are busy discussing who in Team Anna is with them and who's against.

For them issue team Anna is raising is not at all important.. only the rift is. Despite being a solid supporter of Team Anna, I am sometimes baffled by the gross mishandling of MSM by the team Anna. Except Sazia and Kiran Bedi no one else is smart enough to deal with MSM and yet they routinely interact with them. The biggest problem of Team Anna is to show the nation that they all are like maryada purushottam Sri Ram and they have not done even a single mistake in their life ever. Incidentally, nobody is expecting them to be that way but these people always try and take a moral high ground when there is none needed. The biggest culprit is Mr Hegde. He is the most easy target for showing rift in Team Anna and this guy would talk like a child and give ammunition to the MSM. Though Mr Hegde is very honest but he's an idiot when it comes to talking and reacting to Media. I remember all it took a crap allegation from the MSM to make this guy almost resign from the lokpal drafting committee. So when you can’t handle the media stay out or else you get statements like "Hegde dissociates from Team Anna's anti-PM 'word'". No one can fight the congress with rules from Mahabharata, You need to tackle congress using Chanakya neeti and one great thing that Chanakya told is- You can't be completely honest at all times because straight trees are cut first. Take a clue Mr hegde..

It seems Team Anna has lost its way & getting distracted by Governments attempts to divide it on Individual egos & agendas. Again, lets hope for the Best.
