Backdoor Sharia

Come election season and the skillfully engineered controversies surface; particularly where it concerns the minority community. It has come to such a pass that people largely do not think of Parsis, Jews, Sikhs or even Christians as minorities. Minority is now consistently understood to mean ‘muslims’. All fake arguments by politicians and media in defining minorities any other way can now be safely flushed down the drain. It practically means muslims! Period! This syndrome is not unique to India but a universal phenomenon wherever the muslim population has steadily increased over the years. Naturally, after the initial announcement of 4.5% quota to muslims in Central jobs, Salman Khurshid was emboldened to announce a 9% quota if Congress was voted to power in UP. Although not stated, it would be naïve to believe Khurshid’s statement doesn’t have the support of his party. Suddenly, in this climate of muslim appeasement comes a fatwa from Deoband. The mullahs want Salman Rushdie banned from entering India to attend a literary festival at Jaipur. A well-timed, well-engineered shot if you like.

So no political party wants to comment on this outrageous fatwa but instead Salman Khurshid and the Rajasthan CM, Ashok Gehlot, advise Salman Rushdie to stay from the event. Gehlot, whose cabinet included murder accused, went on to even state that Rushdie’s visit could create a law and order situation. And the media? Oh well, instead of condemning the fatwa and the govt’s inaction goes into another orgy of debates. Yes, sick and mindless debates on an issue that they should have been strongly protesting. This is neither about Satanic Verses nor about hurting religious sentiments. First and last this is an issue of a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who was born in Bombay and has the legal right to visit India. This is an individual’s right guaranteed by our laws which our govt is obliged to protect. The govt is failing in that obligation and the media is party to the crime.

Typically, A. Owaisi, the MP from AP had to be on the TV debates. He who recommends all Indians convert to Islam stated: “we are not against criticism but will not tolerate blasphemy”. It would need Einstein to discover how criticism of the Quran will not be treated as blasphemy by a mullah in any country. Such is the nonsense peddled in the media in the garb of debate. And cleverly the queen of Telly trolls Barkha Dutt states in a tweet: “If this nonsense controversy keeps @SalmanRushdie away from Jaipur we should all be ashamed as Indians. The culture of intolerance abhorrent”. Oh really sweetheart?  Instead of directing any protest or anger at the mullahs of Deoband or other intolerant cowards in the Congress she wants ‘Indians’ to be ashamed. Think about it every time these ‘sickulars’ find their friends committing horrors they want ‘Indians’ to be ashamed. That is pretty much like Rahul Gandhi’s silly statement: “I am ashamed to be an Indian” (At Bhatta Parsaul). Of course, any issue concerning freedom of speech for the telly trolls would not be complete without raking up M.F.Hussain. The painter’s works were neither banned, nor was he forced into exile as the media constantly propagates. He was a fugitive of his own choice.

Contrast this with the United Kingdom where Rushdie lived when the fatwa on his life was issued after Satanic Verses was released. His adopted country went all out to protect him and provided him complete security from would be killers willing to act on the fatwa on his life. That was in the late 80’s. Things have changed since then in the UK too. Since then the UK has also fallen into the trap of appeasement through failed multiculturalism. Since then there are now over 85 Sharia courts in the UK. Since then, over 50 churches have been converted to mosques in the UK by real-estate purchases. Living conditions and habits of the other residents were forced to be changed due to such pandering to muslims. There are muslim ghettos where other residents do not venture often. As for home-grown Islamic terror in UK, that is another topic altogether.

Three years ago the UK denied entry to Dutch MP Geert Wilders to screen his movie FITNA in the UK. Fitna is a short documentary on the Quran made by Wilders quoting verses he claims spread hatred and violence and for which the Quran should be banned in the Netherlands. He advocated that if Mein Kampf by Hitler is banned then the Quran should be banned as well. Now, Wilders wasn’t invited to UK for a private literary festival. He was invited by members of the House of Lords to screen his documentary in the upper house of the British parliament. Yet he was denied entry and later allowed only after a court allowed him to proceed. All signs of an increasingly Sharia-compliant democratic Britain. Imagine, this is the UK with a much more liberal freedom of speech and expression which has plumbed to such depths in appeasement of muslims. That’s a far cry from the days when Rushdie’s freedom was so strongly protected by the UK.  Geert Wilders was also prosecuted in his home-country of Netherlands for hate-speech and spreading hatred against muslims but later acquitted. Ring a bell? Well, closer home there is an attempt to prosecute Dr. Subramanian Swamy for a strong article against Islamic terrorism. Swamy’s courses that he taught at Harvard were also cancelled owing to petitions by vested interests. Oh, should I say Sharia-compliant lobbies? Once again, instead of strongly standing behind Swamy’s freedom of speech the Indian media was thoroughly delighted and announced “Harvard snubs Swamy”. It is increasingly clear that the Indian media doesn’t stand for freedom of speech or expression but for the ideologies they pursue. Does Indian news media really stand for freedom of speech? Bluntly, most of them qualify to be in the harem of some Arab prince with his Persian gloves on.

Okay! Suddenly we have Vinay Rai, a new crusader for protecting religious sentiments and other mental cavities. He is a journalist with some remote Urdu publication called ‘Akbari’and covers politics. He has filed a petition in a Delhi court against Google and Facebook. Let me quote him from WSJ: “The content I have submitted to the court deeply offends several religions including Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. It involves pages and groups where users have mocked Hindu gods and goddesses, Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ. Such content can create communal riots across the country. These are just a few examples…My intention is to ensure that the sentiments of any religion or community are not hurt”. Well, religions of the world must be so frail and fallible that it takes the Vinay Rais of the world to protect them and people’s sensitivities. In response to his petition the Delhi court even told the ISPs: “…if immediate steps were not taken, the websites would be blocked the way it happened in China”. We're used to a lot of Chinese goods, now our courts will deliver China-style bans too. Of course, our freedom loving UPA has approved the prosecution of Google and Facebook. And yes, it calls for another round of TV debates.

This time around you have Vinod Sharma of Hindustan Times referring to some video of Pakistan PM Gilani and Sherry Rehman on Youtube which according to him is tasteless and abusive. Well, maybe tasteless to him but it’s a silly incident, maybe unintentional, but the video has been viewed by over 2.5 million people. I guess all of those people must be idiots according to our media. People, out of curiosity, watch content and move on and not crib like politicians or journalists. And the panelists recommend a concept called “Self-censorship”. Laugh if you will, but that’s true. Why self-censorship for putting up stuff on the internet? People are smart enough to know what to access on the net and that freedom to choose is also self-regulation. I have serious doubts if Vinay Rai gives a damn about Hindu or Christian sentiments and the nature of his journal suggests he might have received mostly complaints from muslims, if any at all. And in cases like these there are usually far bigger powers that seek to score a larger political goal as censorship. Why wouldn't Sibal be willing?

Slowly but surely the govt seems bent on making everything sharia compliant. The sheer size of abuse our media hurls on Hindus and Hinduism is testimony to the fact that Hindus don’t get offended too easily. The only ones that do are muslims and appeasing them by being sharia compliant is the best way for the Congress and much of our news media. Sharia is already practiced in Kashmir but there is backdoor sharia through the Congress and media in the rest of India as well.

  1. Thank you Ravi, for calling a spade a f...... spade. It shows money can buy anything. Most of our media and so called top media honchos are in pockets of either ISI, some Arab Sheik or Congress. The only choice Indians have is to fight it out or behave like Jayachands and submit to false moon god, rapists and pedophiles.

  2. One single Vinod Rai is enough to get the court's final judgement on 'censorship' while it takes years for Dr.Swamy to fight out in the same courts to get a mere nod to investigate Chidu, this is so unfortunate and strange. Question can also be raised about the quality of defense lawyers fighting the case on behalf of google/facebook, who are these lawyers and why did they not put up a good fight??

  4. Many 'scholars' in Bangalore talk about Brahmin 'supremacy', how the dalits are affected. But not one 'scholar' talks about fatwas or sharia. They call themselves secular. It is frustrating.

  5. Terrorists or terrorism have no religion they say. But when it comes to execution or punishment this thing called religion and sentiments suddenly become important. If people protesting peacefully are beaten up saying it is a threat to democracy. What happens to threat to democracy when it comes to executing terrorists.

  6. NDTV is one nonsensical channel. But today Ravish said a very funny line to a muslim guest (with all the beard etc) that "aajkal sarkaar bhi aap logon ki kuchh zyaada hi sunti hai"

    That was very funny.

    Not expected on NDTV

    But this Vinay Rai seems to be nuisance. The new "True Pseudo Secularist"

    Rest Congress and those like it will do everything to humiliate Hindus. Our greatest strength has become our greatest weakness.

  7. Ravinar, great post!! Thanks, you are an eye opener to many like me.

    BTW, the new reply feature is great, it is easy for a reader to directly respond to any message posted here. Maybe you should also allow an option to post pics in case someone wants to attach one.

  8. We talk about secularism. Everyone of us should be secular. Is Islam secular? Can a muslim say that all religions other than Islam too are true, and he respects each of them equally? Can he say a non-believer will not go to hell? No way. If his personal belief is so biased and crooked, where goes the principal of secularism? A secular society is safe till these eggheads are in minority. In line with the article of Dr Swamy, these people should be made to declare that "I treat non-believers with equal respect, and dont think he will go to hell". Until this happens, world peace will remain an elusive dream. Christianity is no better in its intrinsic beliefs, but at least they know how to behave as sugar daddies.

  9. Ravinar, If, this SOPA and PIPA acts whenever passed in parliament can ban sites like mediacrooks also ? I'm asking this because mediacrooks is delivering thoughts which hitherto our print or television media haven't found enough guts in their tummy to express. Just a curious thought.

    And of course, Vinay Rais are always planted to speak on behalf of nation and decision making process to when convienient also speed up its reach to destination that fast.

  10. Dear Ravinar,

    Well written scathing attack on the Indian Media Muslim Bias. This Media bias has lot to do with the UP Elections & frustrated Congress party bent on shutting anybody who has an independent view while shamelessly pushing its Muslim agenda. Guys we must spread out message to all well educated people to vote this anti-Hindu party out of power in 2014. That's the only language these bastards understand.

    1. Lol, won't be easy. Congress can only be defeated by a village level organization against them. It's rural India that votes a party into power.

      So, this message needs to be spread out to the uneducated people in the Indian villages. Till that happens, all of this remain exclusively within the purview of esoteric urban/internet India, which of course is hopelessly inadequate when it comes to changing anything.

  11. Hi Ravinar,
    great posts. I tried to send a mail to you but your contact id is not available. Contact me link leads to the blog again.
    Can you also focus on the recent row about Gen Singh's age. One school of thought is govt wants to get Singh out because he is not toeing their line earlier in Adarsh case and now in important Defence deals which are going to people who are linked to congress leadership. May be true else Govt would not take a hard stand and media is trying to portray this as a simple "sort out between you both guys" issues. No one is bringing to front uncomfortable questions on why is govt taking a hard stand if Singh is indeed correct and how does defence purchase decision gets impacted by this.

  12. The so called secularism, equal to all dalit, upliftment are all farce, a convenient tool for the III rated who had invented a highfi living cheating the people namely politician. If at all Dr. Swamy was to be prosecuted for division on line with caste, religion and so on then first and foremost should be our modern day politicians who are pioneer to do so, bequeathed by British and remain peerless for their selfish end. If the upliftment of selves of our politicians are enumerated, the real picture will open lot of skeleton on the cupboard. The Income Tax Department whose contribution to our national wealth is just 3% of our GDP before the liability worked out for their internal expenditure and the common can do well without it but remains as stooge for the ruling party at the center to contain the opponents to the so called rulers.

    Moreover, if certain verses are taken out from the verses of so called quran then they are fit case to be banned in our nation as it contains unbecoming of human being in the first place.

    Regarding Christianity, there are myriads of missions living untouchable to each other in Kerala. I avoid naming them leaving to the introspection of the readers.

    I do not treat our medias and more to the point "The Hindu" takes exception that they had become opportunism for which I am a reader for more than four decades but take strong exception of it plagiarising from a vernacular yellow journal to tarnish the image of the present CM of TN (personal vilification) which chilled our spine as to how it had stooped down to this extent. Old habit die hard; the editor in chief's old relationship stirred sensual pleasure could hardly die and thus attempted to appease the DMK?

    The corrupt Cong buffoons welcome red carpet welcome for an alien with mediocre qualities but proscribe an Indian born?

  16. Hi Ravinar,

    One news item in today's Times of India :

    ==========

    3 Christian priests told to leave J&K

    M Saleem Pandit TNN

    Srinagar: A self-styled Sharia court in Srinagar on Thursday issued a fatwa asking three Christian priests to leave Jammu & Kashmir for “luring the Valley’s Muslims to Christianity”. The fatwa also directed the state government to take over the management of Christian schools in J&K, besides monitoring church activities.
    The outrageous edict follows last November’s arrest of pastor M C Khanna of All Saints Church in Srinagar.
    According to Nasir-ul-Islam, deputy to grand Mufti Bashiruddin, four Christian priests are involved in luring Kashmiri Muslim youth to convert to Christianity. “Punjabi MC Khanna, Dutch national, Jim Borst, and Gayoor Messah were told to leave the Valley for their involvement in conversions. Case against the principal of Tyndale Biscoe School, Parvez Samuel Koul, is under investigation. A judgment will announced in due course,” said Naib Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam. Besides the decree, Sharia court asked the government to involve itself with the management of missionary schools.
    ========

    If this had happened in any of BJP ruled states or even in other states with some Hindu organisation talking about conversion, you would have had Talk Shows discussing right wing hindus and all standard crap. With Muslim bodies involved, there would not even be a whisper.

    Hindus will have to be united and counter the nonsensical arguements of Aryan Theory, Pseudo-Secularism, Peaceful religions such as Islam and Christanity, undermining of hindu culture, etc. We have to counter it everytime and always and at every forum be it office, school, college, general discussion & others. We need to do our homework and then hit back with double the force.

    @Anonymous :
    The point was that the Backdoor Sharia has become so blatant that a News Anchor, Ravish, even in NDTV managed a wry smile on this and passed a comment on Muslim prem.

  17. The problem is Hindus are not united devided over cast and quotas, and congress trying to get muslim quota becasue you cannot change you caste but can change your religion, so if the quoto is there then to get a good job and to get in good colleges there is a big chance of Youngesters converting to Muslim........

  18. All said and done, the biggest fact of last 7-8 years reign of UPA-1 & 2 is that India's de facto ruler is Ahmed Patel. He is the most powerful person in India. Reason is we have a mendicant PM. Sonia is as ignorant about Indian ground realities as she is proficient in Hindi. Less said the better about the tribe called Congressmen.

  20. We need to convert mediacrooks into a TV channel with a innovative business model independent from corporate and political influence. Suggestions please.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dear Anonymous,

    A brilliant Idea to convert Mediacrook into a TV Channel.
    Although I don't want to be pessimistic, I want to put a few thoughts into this. Hope ravinar also has some plans for the future of his Blog too.
    Its really easy to say we need a TV channel but some of the major road blocks are as always related to money & political weight. Hence I had suggested earlier that after the NDA's victory in 2014, a few Business Houses could be lured to invest into the Hindu centric Media Houses. The reason is that the NDA would have proved itself as a consistent political counter weight to UPA. Such TV channels cannot be apolitical & have to group with either one of the two main political parties. Considering the Leftist chatteratti has no longer any significant political clout in the Main stream media & the Congress already owns much of the Main stream Media, the real growth is only expected in the Right wing. We have a significant number of RSS workers working in the MSM, small local newpapers & also through Internet blogs. What we really need to do is bring all these like minded people together & create a strong reader & viewer base in English Media to take on the NDTV's, IBN's, Network 18 & Times of India etc. But this has to be have firm political & corporate support. It won't work without it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ya, true. Money power and also support from atleast one strong political party without which it may be difficult to survive if we go on calling things a spade a spade, for no one in politics likes that kind of a thing. One Vinodh Dua or what ever the name that was/is, started off well and went to the extent of denuding the politicians in his shows. But poor fellow lived only for few months that way before he could be tamed and dumped into something irrelevant. That guy is kicking about somewhere non-nonchalantly now.

    We should have selfless, right thinking and individuals strong on character should form a team to work in such a new channel. We may have people but we may lack in finance. We need strong political clout from a person like that of PAWAR.
