The Fool's Secularism

The word ‘routine’ is not a very adored term. It has often been substituted for anything that is ordinary or mundane. Routines are regular procedures and practices that are almost performed as second nature. If you look up the net there are even sites with help to get out of routines and make life more exciting. Take a look here or here for samples. If you’re bored with routines I hope they help. There’s even a ‘Brainy quotes’ page which is a collection of famous people ridiculing routines.

Reality is a bit different though. In reality routines form the backbone of our lives. Traffic rules are routine but imagine one fine day we said, dump those rules. You can imagine the chaos. Which shoe do you wear first? The left or the right? Check next time, you’ve probably been doing it all your life (wearing the left or right first) without the slightest thought to it. Most of us marvel at Army marches. We are amazed how their legs and arms move in such synchronised manner. To them, that’s routine. For us, it’s a wonder. They have been trained for it and they practice it every day. It is in that sense that Secularism is a routine. Being a backbone of our lives, secularism needs to be maintained and practiced. Soldiers don’t fight big battles with their marching skills. Do they? At best that routine organises them for the battle. In much similar fashion secularism by itself does not win any battles. But many of our fraudulent politicians have been selling this product (in a fake form). Take a look at some of the chief perpetrators of pseudo-secularism:

Remember, these are only some samples. The top row consists of the prime permanent criers of “Secularism is in danger” a la “Islam khatre me hai”. The bottom row consists of the Macaulay Family members who are the prime movers of this fakery in the media. A long time ago I wrote the post “Excessive secularism is as dangerous as religious fundamentalism”. In that I quoted the renowned Mark Tully: “Excessive secularism, which feeds the fire of people who like to present India as a country that does not respect its majority, is just as dangerous as religious fundamentalism”. This is the outcome of fake secularism practiced by all the parties that are now up in arms against Narendra Modi. One Congress member has gone as far as threatening to kill Modi and there has already been an attempt once in Patna.

Sharad Pawar who had met Modi recently in Ahmedabad was probably rebuffed and now he calls Modi “deranged”. This Pawar is the same guy who said “wipe ink, vote twice”. Mulayam Yadav says “We will not let BJP succeed in making Modi PM”. The churlish Nitish Kumar in an interview asked Arnab Goswami “how is Modi going to handle relations with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka”? You know, as if the current govt is on a bed of roses with these countries and this is a prime concern for voters. But the Pak and BD reference is more to suck up to his Muslim voters and not out of any serious concern. Pawar in a rally added “country cannot be handed over to Modi”. What is that supposed to mean? Is the country some farmland to be scammed and given to Modi? The people and their votes will decide who will get what. But let’s look at the latest moron who wants to challenge Modi. Here’s a Johny-cum-lately called Rashid Alvi who wrote to his Bossini Sonia Gandhi:

If the pic is not legible you can read it here. Now, go through the letter very carefully. All that Alvi claims is that he wants to protect pluralism and secularism and STOP MODI. There is nothing on one single issue of Varanasi that he wants to represent. That’s the poison that these guys want people to drink: Fake Secularism. They call Modi all kinds of names which are then repeated like a box of parrots by Rajdeep, Sagarika, Arnab, Barkha and all the channels 24X7. The names they call don’t even have any relevance to anything Modi may have said or done which would have made some sense at least. The only objective of these so-called secularists is to somehow stop Modi by hook or crook. And the more they scream the more they endear Modi to the public. Is the media far behind. Here’s the Category5Moron who is permanently on a Muslim trip whenever there is an election involving Modi:

From the December 2012 elections of Gujarat to now, all that Sagarika has been doing is whipping up Muslim hatred for Modi. And these aren’t reflex responses by the Muslims she meets; she provokes them with questions spiteful of Modi. Secularism demands that people be seen as one nation under one roof. Politicians may act divisively but why should media morons act divisively? And when rapped for such illegitimate behaviour all that these fools can do is cry abuse. In the context of such fake secularism what Modi says resonates with people. He says whenever the Congress and its clones are asked any question they wear a “Burqa of secularism”. The Congress scams are unbelievable in terms of money and the sheer nonchalance with which the party protects its corrupt ones. A summary of its Himalayan corruption looks like this:

Perhaps the fear of Modi is that he will seriously set up SITs and fast-track courts to prosecute the corrupt filth. And this must be done if this country has to send a clear message of intolerance of corruption and the corrupt. Sonia Gandhi, who the media treats as if she is the new Mother Teresa, behaves like she has no taint on her from all these scams. Both Sonia and her “Balloon” son Rahul go around the country talking about corruption. With what face does the media let these two pass without a single question on their corruption and their giving tickets to corrupt members? Whenever the question comes up, like the Congress the media also points to only ONE member of BJP: BS Yedurappa. Whether Yedurappa is corrupt or not courts are yet to decide and in some cases he has been exonerated too. How the media finds equivalence has to be the biggest scam in India.

Secularism is a routine practice and not an issue on which any election should have ever been contested but the Sickulars and the corrupt media have brought it down to this level. I consider myself a secular person but except for the media discussions or election season it doesn’t cross my mind even once. People brush their teeth and have a bath every day. It makes them feel good, clean and freshened up. But that doesn’t guarantee them luck, job or food. Routine hygiene is a “maintenance” job for the body. Secularism is a maintenance job for a society. It need not get any premium. No one deserves to be rewarded for being secular; certainly not with a vote.

As an Amdavadi I know of the history of water problems in the city and state. Till 2005 or 2006 almost everyone in the city faced a water problem (especially those living outside the municipal limits). The bores would dry up and frequent drilling deeper would be done and so on. There were days when there was no water at all and people borrowed a couple of buckets from neighbouring societies which had some supply to get through the day. As it got worse, the only option was regular purchase from water-tankers. All that ended around 2005-06 when the Narmada waters flowed through the Sabarmati. There has never been a problem since then and most households have 24X7 water. Now nobody talks about water anymore. Nobody talks about good roads anymore; it has become part of routine life. No one ever knew when the autos had turned CNG. No one talks about it. No one talks of bus services. It has become routine. When basic facilities become routine then residents think of higher planes. Not having to struggle with these basic issues gives them the time to rise to other accomplishments. What the hell does all this have to do with secularism?   

It is in the absence of the very basic performance as a govt that many of the sickular political parties resort to the chest-beating of “secular, secular, secular”. Secularism is a prostituted word as Arun Shourie said and many people have been fooled with this nonsense for over four decades. In one of his books Bill Gates narrates an anecdote about MS Word software. I am quoting from memory and it is not the exact verbatim quote: “When we gave WORD, people said we want colours. We gave them colours. Then they said they wanted word-count. We gave them word-count. They said they wanted multiple languages; we gave them Chinese, Japanese and so on. They said they wanted spell-check. We gave them spell check. We can give people all the tools in Word they want but we simply can’t tell them how or what to write”.  

That’s right, one can be given all the tools in MSWord but the software can’t tell you what or how to write something. That is true for secularism too. Secularism is a tolerant way of living but it’s not a cure to disease, it’s not a cure to hunger. Secularism doesn’t eliminate backwardness or poverty. It cannot give anyone employment. The Congress and its clones have fooled the country long enough with their fake secularism as a solution to people’s problems. This is the fool’s secularism. Change is inevitable and no matter how much these parties and the media try to make the debate secularism vs communalism it is increasingly dawning upon people that this is a fake debate. Development and progress can be felt and seen. A country’s progress and power is driven by people’s aspirations not by the fool’s secularism. This election season people should listen to the real debates that will seek to meet their aspirations. I am not a big fan of the Shiv Sena but for once I have to agree with their hoarding.

The Fiberal Lie-sense

Today, February 12, marks the 3rd Anniversary of MediaCrooks. From about the 8 or 9 lines I first wrote under “Time to rein in the Indian media” in 2010, I’m happy to be still here and writing. This is as good a time as any to take another look at our Fiberals.

I came across this unusual article by one TCA Srinivasaraghavan in the Hindu Businessline titled “Narendra Modi — India’s Nixon”? This appearing in a commie newspaper like The Hindu must have been an accident. TCA’s article is a well-directed missile against the so called liberals but he gets it a bit wrong when he equates Modi with Nixon and about India’s so called liberals. Let’s read a bit before we go further (edited excerpts in blue).

Few Indians today remember Richard Milhous Nixon, the 37th President of the US. He broke US law by obstructing justice and was forced to resign in 1974, halfway through his second term. Probably true but I have studied the Nixon story very closely and both Watergate and Nixon have frequently found mention on this blog, so I can claim not to have forgotten. Richard Nixon spent his last days in office 'covering-up'. Modi has been voted four times to office and is not busy with any cover-up.

Indeed, the utter illiberality of the liberals is one of the greatest paradoxes of our time. Academics have pondered long and deep over it and failed to come up with a solution. They seem as helpless as when trying to explain the depravities of the deeply devout… What happened to Nixon is very similar to what has been happening to Narendra Modi since 2002. In a nutshell, the American liberals had decided that Nixon was unfit to govern the US and went after him… In exactly the same way, the urban Indian liberals have decided that Modi is unfit to govern India. And they have been going after him, prepared like the Americans in the 1970s, to accept incompetents instead… This illiberal face of the liberals is seldom commented upon in India because if you do, the pack labels you as illiberal. That is their power… So who is a liberal, then? A liberal, by my reckoning, is a person designated as a liberal by other liberals, usually on a single communal sub-criterion. As a result, the most liberal person can be labelled illiberal by liberals and the most illiberal as liberal.

When Richard Nixon, a Republican, lost to John F. Kennedy in 1960 there were suspicions of ballot bungling in Chicago but he chose not to make an issue of it. (Oh incidentally, who do we relate ballot or EVM bungling with in India?) Then, remember, despite the liberals hounding Nixon (as TCA suggests) he won two elections and came to office in 1969 and 1973. It’s what he did towards the end of his first term that is known as the Watergate scandal. The Watergate burglary itself was just a cover. Even the reason for the burglary has many theories. While commonly accepted theory is that the burglars wanted to bug the Democratic HQ at the Watergate building, no bugs were found. So the other theory is that the burglars may have wanted to recover a damning tape, of a sex racket, that involved a top official of the Nixon administration who was also sentenced in the scandal. Nixon himself wasn't known to have anything to do with the Watergate burglary.

What the Watergate scandal did expose was the massive operation to re-elect Nixon through misuse of campaign funds and defaming opponents. The well-organised campaign to plant fake stories about opponents, tarnish their reputations, manufacture lies and scandals was internally referred to as ‘Rat-F*****g’ (RF). Now, it’s members connected to the ‘CREEP’ (Committee to re-elect the president) who were involved in these covert operations and not liberals. Our commies are carrying out exactly the same RF operation for over a decade against Modi, aren’t they? They’re not really the liberals as TCA suggests.

The covert operations included marginalising various govt bodies including FBI and various other institutions of the govt. In India, with whom do you associate the marginalisation and misuse of CBI, IT Dept, ED, Judiciary and other govt institutions? That wasn’t the liberals in America doing that operation, was it? In contrast who is doing the RF operation against Narendra Modi and other opponents of Congress in India? Not too hard to guess eh? In the end Nixon was damned by his own tapes that he secretly maintained at the White House. The other erroneous mistake that TCA (and many others) make is that they equate “liberals” everywhere. The liberals or liberalism in the US has nothing in common with those calling themselves liberals in India. The first and biggest difference is freedom of speech. The US First Amendment provides for complete freedom of speech, the Indian liberals will never subscribe to such a freedom for anyone but themselves. When Obama won the recent elections our commie idiots celebrated as if the “liberal” win in the US is equivalent of a Congress win in India. In reality, neither the Congress party nor our so called liberals have anything in common with American liberalism.

What passes off as the liberal view in India is essentially the Communist view. Whether it’s text books, history books or the mainstream media it’s the communists and not liberals who have populated these areas. The commies suffer from a severe disease of intolerance of any view that does not match with their ideology. The Congress is pretty much a communist party which is why it gets on better with the CPM/CPI than with any truly democratic, liberal party. Given years of oppression and suffering of masses, most Indian political parties have a communist and socialist ideology. Consequently, the word “Socialist” was inserted into to our constitution.

One of the fundamental principles of a liberal is that s/he is strongly in opposition to monarchy and dynasty. Are our liberals anything like that? Those who call themselves liberals are mostly slaves of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty and other political dynasties. So TCA is wrong to even tag them as liberals. I call them Fiberals, which is far more appropriate. They pretend to be liberal and fib all their lives because they possess the lie-sense. So it’s not true liberals but commie Fiberals who are hounding Modi. Just look at the campaign by the likes of Aakar Patel and Ram Guha. Theirs would qualify to be categorised under the ‘RF’ operation during Nixon’s re-election campaign.

I had mentioned to Newslaundry that if I were to criticise Modi and Gujarat I would have been a panellist on many channels. It will surprise many that this blog doesn’t criticise any CM or any state. Isn’t that how Aakar built his career? From ranting against Modi in some ordinary rag he is now a regular TV panellist and to add to his Modi-hating resume he now runs a dedicated series on Modi in DNA newspaper. If that is not RF, what is? Look at the headline from NDTV. A separatist is a “moderate”? By what liberal measure is any separatist a moderate? It’s pretty much a communist idea that Arundhati Roy, friend of Yaseen Malik and Maoists, will agree to. In the US you may not be prosecuted with speeches that Yaseen gives but if he were to act and invoke people to secede he would be prosecuted for treason and sentenced to death. But for NDTV this guy who hangs out with Hafeez Saeed, a terrorist and enemy of India, is a moderate. And why is Malik with Saeed? To protest the hanging of another terrorist, Afzal Guru!

Who’s the likely beneficiary of the hate campaign against Modi? It is obviously a party that runs more like a monarchy which should have been the natural enemy of liberals. In India, the liberals are in love with this monarchy which is why the term “liberals” is a fake tag. Fiberals is the right tag. Let’s have some fun. Let’s see the definition of liberals by the Fiberals. There’s Rajdeep’s tweet about Salman Taseer, the Pak politician who was killed. Isn’t that a perfect definition of Rajdeep’s liberals? Sure I’m picking funny tweets but Rajdeep isn’t really joking. Umm… that’s the general definition of a liberal by our media standards. Wine, women and…RF?

Next, the other thing that a liberal believes in is absolute freedom of speech. S/he either responds to such speech or ignores or switches off speakers that don’t suit the liking. But no, our liberals want others to simply shut up so that they can have their monopoly on crap everywhere – On TV, in print, on Facebook, on Twitter; everywhere. And when they don’t like it they go to the extent of calling them trolls, uncouth, violent (on Twitter?). They want these trolls to shut up when they can very well use the block button as suggested. And, of course, these TV morons will complain about anonymous accounts on Twitter or FB but will gladly follow many anonymous accounts themselves. They wallow in this nonsense. Hardly liberal!

The biggest sign and identification of these liberals in India is their badge of hatred for anything Hindu or connected to Hindu culture. Hindus, Hindu icons, Hindu rituals and practices are all fair game for hatred for these Fiberals. But hey, mention the Religion of Peace or Christianity and they will all crawl under some stone. Their mouths and pens get zipped. The sword scares their pens! So TCA in The Hindu got it a bit wrong although his article was well-intentioned and technically correct. Those hounding Modi are NOT liberals. They are commie slaves to a monarchy. That’s what they are flanking and protecting. And they do so using the RF technique which involves heavy-duty lying. That’s the reason I call them Fiberals with a lie-sense. Some of them are paid, and showered honours too, for their services. 

 

Narendra Modi 'Hangs' In Style

There is a reason why history always remembers the ‘Firsts’. Ask anybody who the second man to set foot on the moon was and you’re likely to draw a blank. But everybody knows Neil Armstrong. Ask anyone which the second team on Mt. Everest was, not easy. But most would know Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Second Prime Minister of India? Chances are most would not remember Gulzarilal Nanda but would know the first was Jawaharlal Nehru. It is in that context that Narendra Modi achieved history in Indian politics with a first. He became the first top rung political leader to interact LIVE on social media directly with citizens and answered questions on a variety of issues. It is a historic first because it signals the crucial role Internet and social media (SM) are likely to play in politics, electioneering, propaganda and a platform for citizens to reach their leaders directly. The middlemen in the mainstream media (MSM), the spin doctors, the brokers, the opinion-swinging editorialists will increasingly become irrelevant. It is the equivalent of a P&G getting rid of wholesalers and distributors and directly reaching the customer through retail shelves and online shopping. (Watch the event on Youtube)

According to reports over 4 million from across India and abroad watched the show. Narendra Modi’s audience had a good time. Even the Modi-haters from the media and politics who may have watched will agree that social media is here as a powerful medium and despising it can only be at a severe cost. #ModiHangout trended all day on August 31 on Twitter, even well into September 1 long after the show was over. What Modi said or did not say will be in print and online media although TV channels may skip the news. And why is it news? This is the first time ever in India that a top political leader has harnessed social media to directly interact with citizens. This was not one of those private durbars that we know our netas to hold. This wasn’t one of those off-camera meetings that Rahul Gandhi holds with college students.The unsaid message from Modi to MSM was like some property ads: "Brokers Excuse".

Everything Narendra Modi said in the Google+ Hangout, hosted by actor Ajay Devgn, was positive and contained a good number of encouraging messages. The MSM will now get busy poking holes into the show over what he did not say. I had joked in a tweet about the likely headlines on TV and in newspapers:"Modi reaches out but fails to apologise". Some didn’t wait, Headlines Today held a discussion even before the Youtubecast and of all possible morons in the world we had Vinod ‘Smirk’ Sharma, Congress batter and editor of Hindustan Trolls, complaining that Modi didn’t take “Live” questions. Talk about 'Pre-Judging'! If Modi were to land on the moon this same Smirk would probably say “But Oh, it wasn’t a full-moon day, he could have chosen a better date”. The crime of ‘pre-judging’ an event or adversaries is a crime that is bound to invite a price. It is all the more ironic that the Smirk criticises Modi when his own Gods like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi neither have the skill nor the courage to even speak to their own cronies in the MSM, let alone directly with citizens other than choreographed rallies and written speeches.There can hardly be any doubt that the Modi Hangout must have dented prime time TV viewership.

On Twitter Rajdeep Sardesai was expectedly leading the band of MSM cronies of Congress in snide remarks about the Hangout. Firstpost has summarised Modi’s answers and statements during the Hangout with timelines and garnished it with some fair cheeky comments. To me the most notable comments were about Secularism and American visas. If the trend of SM Live-interaction continues then it’s not long before the fake secularism practiced by the Congress and minority-appeasing parties and propagated by MSM will be thoroughly exposed in the farthest corners of India. Such a criminal comment representing fake secularism and condoning intended terrorism by ‘The Hindu’ newspaper, was indeed exposed by the Twitterati.
    

The MSM has been receiving warnings frequently to embrace social media and learn to interact and deal with it more sensibly and productively. So far they have they have treated it as a passing fad. SM is not a fad; it’s a trend with an undeniable permanence and growth potential. Take a look at the text in the box. It’s a ‘clarification’ from the predominantly anti-Hindu newspaper called ‘The Hindu’. It first suggested that a terrorist threat to writers was justified because of  their “anti-minority” views (Read Here). By the evening of the same day, August 31, it’s rabid editor, S.Varadarajan known for his communist leanings, withdrew the foolish note in the article. Why? Simply because he was pointed out the truth by those on Twitter of his justifying terrorism. Such an apology would not have come without an active social media.  

Whatever else may happen in future elections or in politics Narendra Modi has certainly set a new road map for social communication and direct interaction and political campaigning with citizens. That Modi has stayed the course, developed his state and is now being projected a future PM is remarkable because of the number of political and media adversaries he has. Adversaries even from his own party! If the MSM blacked him out (and demonised him when they did not) he found the one truthful place for communication: Social Media. The Barkhas, Rajdeeps, Smirks, Shekhars, Prannoys would be wise to read the writing on the SM wall. Brokers in media will definitely lose more ground to social media. Their loss will not be mourned by anyone.
