Dixcy Chick Salman

In a previous post “Media loves crimes, makes crime attractive” I had written about how media glorifies star criminals. Sanjay Dutt ads still appear in the media while he is now in jail. Salman Khan, the other convict under appeal, has a series of ads. The advertising industry has always loved bad boys and star criminals. Salman is also charged with culpable homicide in a 2002 case where he ran over people sleeping on the pavement and killed one while drunk-driving. He has been convicted and sentenced to 5 years in a black-buck hunting case which he has appealed.  “Dar ke aage jeet hai” says his ad for a soft drink but it looks like in real life he’s a scared chicken.

Once the star criminals are exposed they suddenly become do-gooders and people with extraordinary compassion; even for dogs as this Outlook report tells us: “Salman Khan loves dogs. He has two French mastiffs whom he calls My Son and My Jaan. To pamper their palate, he has special food from abroad flown down for them. To keep these thick-coated animals comfortable in Bombay's steamy heat, the ACs in his house run constantly at carefully controlled temperatures. Even when a stray dog in his neighbourhood died, Salman is said to have gone into deep depression”. So you see, a man whose heart bleeds so much for even dogs can hardly be a criminal. Right?

Dogs are not all, Salman even discovered his deep love for humans after he ran into trouble with the law. He started becoming more human and discovered the meaning of “Being Human” as his website will tell you. Such guys fall in love with children all over again like those Miss World winners who want to educate all the children in the world, eliminate poverty, hunger and, of course, eliminate Aids too. Children as leverage! You know, wearing Dixcy ‘Banian’ and ‘Underwear’ turns Salman into quite a Superman. He knocks of goon-monks with his Kung Fu and arm-wrestles to find compassion for a kid.

But Salman Khan showed up for what he really is and what he really has been all along. Nothing but a mindless bully! He had his Barkha Dutt moment and his ‘Streisand’ moment in one go recently. People will remember how Barkha tried to suppress a blogger (Chaitanya Kunte) but ended up making his blog famous. Bollywood juice blogger Soumyadipta Banerjee wrote about the plight of Salman’s police bodyguard who was not only inside the car when the drunken-driving episode killed a person but was also a key witness in the case. Ravindra Patil died a miserable, lonely death after being a witness in the case. Oh yes, SK did make a movie called “Bodyguard” so he should know all about what happened to his own bodyguard. Banerjee’s blog severely slammed both Salman and the Mumbai police for the fate of Ravindra Patil. Readthe whole piece HERE.

After being bullied by Salman, Banerjee pulled his post and expressed his frustration thus:

The last two days have been really excruciating for me. I have received a communication from Mr Salman Khan. There I have been instructed to remove two blog posts that I have written about him. Those articles have been removed from this blog. Here’s a public apology to Mr Salman Khan for writing two blog posts that he didn’t consider appropriate. I am taking a break from writing on this blog till I am in a proper frame of mind to write again.

I am really sorry.

You make your judgement on what was not so “appropriate” about Banerjee’s blog about the fate of Ravindra Patil. What Salman Khan was foolish enough not to know is that bullying someone to pull down an article on the net doesn’t wipe out the footprint but also gets it even more attention than it normally would have. This is what Barkha learnt a long time back after her 26/11 reporting. Her threatening a blogger and getting his post pulled off caused her permanent damage. Salman did the same foolish thing. He probably bullied the blogger and got the post removed but it’s now all over the place. Firstpost ran a longer story on the episode than even Banerjee’s blog did. Banerjee’s blog has a very appropriate image that describes Bollywood and media; the big fish eat the small fish.

But on the internet it’s prudent not to mess with the small fish, especially if it’s speaking the truth. Salman can wear all the Banians and Underwears he wants and pretend and act as Superman but as this episode shows, he still remains a Dixcy Chick.

  

Separate Laws For Celebs Please

Billy Hayes is an American writer and actor. But there is more to him than that. Hayes was arrested in 1970 at Istanbul airport for smuggling 2kgs of Hashish. This was a time when many countries in the world didn’t even have ‘Anti-Drug’ laws. Hayes was sentenced to four years in prison for cooperating with the authorities in nabbing the original supplier. But the law doesn’t work honestly in some places. Before he knew what was happening Hayes was told he was sentenced to life, which is 30 years in prison. He was tortured frequently in prison. Hayes finally escaped from the prison in 1975 to Greece and returned home to his family in the US a few months later. This extraordinary story is captured in the movie Midnight Express. His story and the movie got Turkey bad publicity throughout the world for their poor justice and prison systems.

Closer home, Sanjay Dutt was a known drug addict. He must have surely been in possession of drugs to be consuming drugs. Yet, to my knowledge, there hasn’t ever been a single case ever filed against him for drugs. His father packed him off to the US for rehabilitation programme which seemed to have worked and set Sanjay back on the road to his career and family. There are other drug offenders who have been let off too. So when the Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Sanjay Dutt in the shadow of the 1993 Mumbai blasts case for illegal possession of arms it wasn’t surprising that most of his clan sympathised with him. Let me correct that. They went beyond sympathy, most of them were declaring him “innocent”. From Jaya Prada to Mahesh Bhatt to many others, they were all narrating how Dutt has suffered for 20 years. This included his own lawyers and others like Majid Memon who claimed he had just made a “foolish mistake” and the SC should have been lenient.

Bollywood members describe SD as a “clean boy, kind soul, a good Samaritan”. Nice! And that he had acquired an illegal weapon just for self-defence. This is where the lies start. Acquiring assault weapons, hand grenades, a large amount of cartridges, helping store the arms, then destroying some of the weapons aren’t exactly deeds of a kind soul. Are they? And what were Sanjay’s own reasons for all of this? In his own words: “Because I have Muslim blood in my veins.I could not bear what was happening in the city”. That does seem like he was acting in preparation of self-defence, wasn’t he? And once again the foolish logic by the Bollywood mafia is that a lot of money is riding on his movies, these movies generate a lot of employment, hundreds of lives at stake and so on. All emotionally appealing but sheer nonsense! The undeniable fact is SD not only stored a cache of weapons enough for a small battle but was frequently hobnobbing with terrorists and the underworld. There have been taped conversations of his with the criminals available in public domain.

What should really worry us is that Sanjay Dutt may just be the tip of an iceberg in Bollywood. It is no secret that the underworld finances Bollywood heavily. Sometime back when CNN-IBN carried out a sting operation exposing black money in Bollywood people actually laughed. They laughed because it didn’t need a sting operation to know underworld money and black-money is the lifeline of Bollywood. Nobody needed a sting to be convinced. Here’s a small report about events in 2003 on Preity Zinta from ZeeNews that should stun any normal person:

Hmm! Thirteen other celebrities including Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan retracted their statements in the case. Sanjay Dutt is not a child who was playing with a toy. He was playing with a lot more than just a gun. He is just unfortunate to have been caught. The sympathy from Bollywood is so overwhelming because everyone who sympathised with SD was sometime or the other probably connected with criminals or their funds in some way. Maybe they too have misdeeds that haven’t come out in the open. One has to be a nutcase to believe Mahesh Bhatt’s son Rahul Bhatt met David Headley at some informal meeting. If the ways of terrorists are any guide, they are smart enough to pick their “Bakras” very carefully. David Headley too would have picked Rahul Bhatt with some thoughtfulness.

The media morons are upset too. Naturally! One of their “sales-boys” may be packed off for a few years. When he returns he may not be saleable anymore. Wise-up crooks! There’s another one in line who may end up with a similar fate. Salman Khan, who is now being called a great-hearted, kind, friendly, children-caring man may head the same way. I believe Salman Khan is all of that except when he shoots black bucks or runs over people on the footpath after a few drinks. If Salman is smart he would learn a lesson and speed up hearing of his cases and not dodge summons. Sanjay Dutt is returning to prison at 53. He would have been smarter in finishing a major part of his sentence while he was younger instead of frequently seeking bails and hoping he will escape. He might have even been granted parole. Salman Khan has been dodging the law with bail, disappearing when summons are served and evading the prosecution of his case. It may be painful for him too if he is finally unable to escape when he is 55. That would be most certain to end his career.

It’s not just Bollywood but quite a good section of the MSM that may be thriving on mafia money. Oh by the way, nobody is seeking any action or investigation against those media celebs and activists who splurged on anti-India campaigner Ghulam Nabi Fai. In January I wrote why “Media Loves Criminals, Makes Crime Attractive”. The media encourages convicted criminals like Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan and gets a whole generation to believe the law is a frivolous thing that can be broken and escape is possible. The stunts of actors who get away could even be inspiration for major crimes like armed robbery and even rape and murder. What Bollywood and our MSM are telling us simply is that they need a separate law for themselves. They want that their crimes should be overlooked because of the huge money implications of their business or stardom. Sanjay Dutt is only unfortunate that thousands of people like him in Bollywood, Media and Politics have gotten away and he paid a price.

Billy Hayes suffered enormously in an alien land with poor justice systems. What started as a four year sentence turned into 30. His escape from that prison is justified and admirable. Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, is lucky. The SC knocked off a year from his original sentence of 6 years. Maybe the govt will now consider a separate law for celebrities to avoid “victimhood” and “criminals turned kind-souls”. 

Media Loves Criminals, Makes Crime Attractive

It was called the ‘trial of the century’. In 1995 O.J. Simpson, the American football and movie star was being tried for the murder of his wife Nicole and her friend. Most people were convinced he was the killer.

In a very dramatic court-scene OJ was also asked to try out a glove from the murder scene. His lawyer famously said "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit”.  The glove didn’t fit. OJ was acquitted for various reasons and it was considered a trial that was badly screwed up by the prosecution. So where is OJ now? Well, he was arrested in 2007 on other charges and in 2008 was sentenced to 33 years in prison. OJ was a celebrity who fell from dizzying heights to a cold prison cell. Some people aren’t that lucky, are they? The law catches up with them one way or another. One can call it divine retribution. But hey, cheer up! It’s not so bad in India. Our OJ’s are above and beyond the law. Not just that, the media loves celebrities who break laws, who are convicted. They are honoured by the media and even by the govt. For two weeks, during the anti-rape protests, our MSM raged against criminals, politicians, criminal behaviour and our laws but they aren’t willing to stand up to or lose one single rupee when it comes to promoting criminals. 

Following the Gangrape in Delhi on December 16, 2012 people were out on the streets protesting. Not just in Delhi but across India. Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit gave some ‘tear-jerking’ interviews on NDTV and CNN-IBN on December 21. Hmm… but what was she doing a day earlier? She was busy renaming a road in Vasant Vihar after MAK Pataudi. Vasant Vihar in Delhi is just around 3Kms from Munirka where the woman was raped and assaulted. Who is MAK? He is Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, former Cricket captain and a great player. Just one thing; MAK was arrested for poaching animals and was locked up for 2 days in 2005. He was granted bail but the case never concluded because he died in September 2011. So even if there’s a blot against your name you will be honoured. If you’re a celeb. BCCI also wanted to name the India-England Test series after him. He’s a celebrity, offences can be ignored. Right? Now that the protests have died down most protesters will find time to watch ‘Dabbang2’. Why not! After all for 2 weeks the media couldn’t promote the movie properly. Gotta make up! We have a history of worshipping criminals and then lament the law. And the media doesn’t care; they just love celebrity convicts who are out on bail.

Dabbang? Oh yeah, some pathetic lowlife at The Hindu, the paper that generally rants against Hindu icons finds Swami Vivekananda’s ‘pose’ too masculine (Taking the aggression out ofmasculinity). But who’s the guy who revels in being topless, bare-chested in movies and likes to strike masculine poses in undergarment ads? That’s Salman Khan (SK) for you; a convict, under-trial and out on bail. Now SK is reputed for many “masculine” escapades, including assaulting co-stars or journalists. In a drunk-driving case he killed one and injured a few more. He has been convicted for killing Black Bucks revered by the Bishnoi community in Rajasthan. But would The Hindu complain about underwear ads of SK? I suppose money is “masculine”, isn’t it?

All news channels are guilty of promoting the likes of SK as a great social-service guy. It seems he even weeps for stray dogs that die. Nice! And then the media outrages over who inspires criminals and rapists, that there should be more stringent laws. They want Bollywood to reconsider “item numbers” but all this, while they promote “bad boys” every single day. Coca Cola pulled SK out of their ads after the drunk-driving incident but seems he’s back doing ads for them. CNN-IBN had him as the chief guest (as most other news channels do on many occasions) handing out awards to “Super Idols”. To distract from the rape case and other crimes they then blame lyrics of Honey Singh. Who sponsors Salman Khan and why ads featuring him are carried by media? The media itself is guilty of the same crime they accuse Honey Singh of. He writes lyrics or sings but the media rewards criminals. Mind you, it’s not as if these guys have served their sentences and paid their dues to society.

SK is not the only one. There is the other guy, Sanjay Dutt. He too is a convict, a political party’s member and he floats on media channels like he’s the great “Gandhi” after his Munna-movies. Surprisingly, his case seems to take eons to come up for hearing in the Supreme Court. The offence was in 1993. Do the media scream over a 20 year long justice period for him? Oh no! You see, like SK, Dutt sells stuff for them too. Why would you want your salesmen in trouble, huh? One of the reasons film-producers offered to justify bail for these Bollywood criminals is that a lot of money was invested in their movies. Heard anything more absurd?  

The funniest part is that these celebs are hard to find when they have to be served with summons or when there’s an arrest warrant against them. Midday reports SK was exempted from court appearances 83 times in 10 years in the drunk-driving case. And when the latest summon was to be served he couldn’t be found. The crystal ball showed he was partying with the Special IG of Police. They could have even asked Rajdeep Sardesai (yes, Rajdeep who once thought Dawood Ibrahim was a patriot) or anyone at NDTV, ABPNews, Timesnow or any channel. Arnab Goswami even did a ‘Frankly Speaking’ interview with him. If SK shows the way can others be far behind? Ha! Bitty Mohanty, son of a top cop (Relax, it’s not in Caps, I am not referring to THAT Top Cop) is absconding for 7 years after jumping parole in a rape case. Gopal Kanda, former Minister of Haryana, was absconding for almost a month when there was an arrest warrant in the Geetika suicide case. He did have a genuine explanation though: he was preparing his reply to the charges in peace in some corner of the country. Durai Dayanidhi, son of MP Azhagiri, was absconding for months with a non-bailable warrant on him. He surfaced only when bail was finally granted. Oh by the wayward, media feels like a coy “dulhan” when they have to report the land-cases of Shekhar Gupta or N. Ram of The Hindu. Hammam Ahoy! The list is endless.

Someone said “Drunken Lumpens”? Umm… how does the news-media explain all the surrogate liquor ads? BlendersPride fashion! “Make it large” Royal Stag! “Chaar yaar” type Bagpiper! Oh there’s music to drink by from Smirnoff or Bacardi. Keep counting. No moral sermons or outrages for the ridiculous promotion of liquor by circumventing the law. And the media celebs are gonna tell you how to deal with rape? People supposedly in journalism who have made every possible compromise with morals, truth and dignity simply do not qualify to sermonise or outrage over laws or failure of law. If someone has to wake up first, it’s the media. The Hindi news media can’t even get past their “Saas-Bahu” and “BigBoss” specials. Who are these people fooling? These are channels whose websites goof up and change headlines thrice a day like Shivraj Patil changes clothes. People keep screen-shots for their mischief.

Let the media apex bodies like PCI or NBSA pass resolutions that they will not harbour or promote any Bollywood or any other celeb with criminal charges against them. Let them resolve they will not promote movies of convicted criminals. Let them report the court cases against their own media members. In the absence of this, the news-media itself is nothing more than an accomplice, a mafia wife. 

Anti-Indian Of The Year Awards

Our ass-licking news media does not fail to fall over each other in conferring 'Indian of the year' award each year to politicians and businessmen, among others. I consider it extremely unwarranted and inappropriate for any news media outlet to be giving out such awards. I also consider it a conflict of interest. You cannot be handing out awards to the very people you are supposed to question and monitor. That's the job of a 'watchdog'. When watchdogs turn into lapdogs, ordinary citizens must revolt and make their voices heard.

Therefore, in revolt against this repugnant practice Mediacrooks has instituted the annual 'Anti-Indian Of The Year Award'. The nominees may not be too hard to pick and some of them have also been conferred the 'IOTY' award by both CNN-IBN and NDTV. The lack of prudence on the part of these channels cannot be lost on anyone now.
