Modi's PM Nomination & After

Her father dumped her, her mother and siblings. She was consigned to a childhood of poverty and misery. She went to the big city to chase her dreams of wealth and power. She had no formal education to write about. She did odd jobs to survive and dreamt of being an actress. She had relationships with many men while struggling with her jobs. During this period of gold-hunt she reportedly even forged her birth certificate to marry a powerful man. Her marriage led to a life of wealth and comfort as she became a socialist fighter. She also became a powerful politician. She aspired to official govt position but was thwarted in her attempts. She would eventually die of Cervical Cancer. You know who I am taking about, right?

Yes, I’m talking about Marie Eva Duarte De Peron, popularly known as Evita. Her rags to power story became famous across the world with musicals and movies that were made about her life since the 1970s. She lived all of 33 years. And her title? ‘Spiritual leader of Argentina’. Depending on the way you look at it, her story can be inspiring or just fascinating. But it’s a story many aspiring politicians would dream of. There is a man who has risen in India from an ordinary life to become the PM nominee of his party. Narendra Modi had very humble beginnings, has been a tea-vendor as he worked to receive formal education. He has been a disciplined soldier of his party and after 4 victories as CM of Gujarat he is now the BJP’s PM nominee. The only difference is he has none of the scandalous blemishes that Evita had. He also didn’t forge documents to marry into power. His detractors, however, will now be desperate to hang him by crook or crook or crook for crimes of their own imagination.   

First things first. Over the last few months our MSM has a new-found love for LK Advani. This is in line with the fact that our media is the greatest danger to democracy. LKA himself proved he is anti-democracy within his own party. Childish, Schoolish, Petulant, Obstinate, Sulking; these and many more words can describe the absolutely stupid behaviour of LKA. This is a man who has become a caricature of himself. A man who puts himself ahead of party and country. A man who believes his opinion is the final decision and not the choice of his party members. In hindsight, I am glad this man never became the PM of India. His stint as Deputy PM is nothing worth writing about and, of late, his churlish conduct is even worse. In their hatred for Modi our media, instead of universally condemning LKA’s behaviour, have been treating him as the “injured” party. He doesn’t deserve any sympathy and I am glad BJP members rose above his nonsense to enforce the majority’s choice.

John Kerry ran for president. Hillary Clinton fiercely contested Barack Obama for nomination. Yet Kerry and Hillary put aside electoral contests and have chosen to work for Obama. Kerry is the current Secretary of State and Hillary his predecessor. Both are older in age and politically senior to Obama. In contrast, Advani seems to believe he has the “first right” on Prime-Ministership. He failed as the PM candidate in 2009 and under him BJP would have failed again. The media hates Modi being the PM candidate because he is the biggest danger to the corrupt Congress on whose crumbs the media delights. Naturally, the MSM wants nothing but the Congress back in power. So all the criminal editors chose to portray Modi’s nomination as an “unhappy” one in which Modi and the party disregarded their senior “statesman”. The “Liars of India” headline says it all. Advani is neither a statesman nor a great politician. History will record him as a very petty politician. He may have contributed to building the BJP but he is not a “king” who gets to permanently rule his imaginary kingdom. This shameful episode in LKA’s career is gladly consigned to history. I dare say, the same media will write a very unkind obit for him when his call comes. The truth simply is that across the country Modi’s elevation has been celebrated.

As for his detractors in the Congress the one comment by the now “distanced” and out-of-favour Digvijaya Singh says it all. This guy who was barred from entering a presser in his own home-state by the MP Congress is foolish enough to open his mouth again and demonstrate his ignorance and hypocrisy in all its glory. He talks about who will decide on the PM. Foul-mouthed, jealous characters like him forget that in the history of world’s democracies only the Congress party has a PM “appointed” by the party president. MMS is not even directly elected by people. He has not been able to win even one single public election. To call him a back-door PM would not be inaccurate. They let him crawl in through the backdoor from Assam in the Rajya Sabha.

As for the media, their stupidity is only going to go a notch higher after Modi’s nomination. Nothing exemplifies this better than this tweet by the Category5 Moron. No one swims as gladly in a cesspool of ignorance and stupidity as she does. In her programme after Modi’s elevation this bimbo even lies that “thousands of Sangh Parivar activists were convicted” for the 2002 riots (@1.54 in this Youtube video). Such criminal liars are “self-styled” editors. But make no mistake the criminal media will now take the Hunting Season to the next phase in a couple of months. Now that their question of who will be BJP’s PM candidate has been answered they will get busy with collection of more lies, distortions, fake news and slander to target Modi. Everyone knows that by now. Leading the pack will be the editors and side-kicks from NDTV, TOI Group, CNN-IBN, the Salmas and Sabrinas of Tehelka, Indian Express. You name it, that media house will be on board. In their quest to slander Modi, the media has even defended and glorified criminals, terrorists and anti-nationals.

In more than a decade the slanderers in media and politics have not understood something serious; and that is the behaviour of man who nurtures guilt of a crime or wrong doing. Most have seen Pawan Bansal making a goat-sacrifice over the railway scam. Most are aware of Lalu Prasad having attended Tantrik rituals to protect him from the fodder-scam. The media protects darlings like Naveen Jindal who are FIRed in the Coal scam. PM goes into a conspiracy of silence for a long time over the coal-scam. Robert Vadra hides from the public and media over the land scams. Modi hardly hides. Far from hiding, he has gone beyond Gujarat and talked to people all across the country. He has even travelled abroad and met top govt heads. All this with the 24X7 media slander campaign against him. A guilt-ridden man would have been happy to hide in his office and state and not attract any attention at all. A guilt-ridden man wouldn’t dare to aspire for the highest office in the country’s govt. The media is “money-bound” and “slavery-bound” to use some old and new terms to slander him. Their lies and distortions will be generously decorated with terms such as:

Polarizing figure: Every politician and every political party polarises people and votes. That is what elections are about. This is nothing unique to Modi but the media will tell you this lie over and over again. Don’t the SP, Congress, JDU polarise Muslims? Do they not dole out extraordinary appeasement to garner votes? Does Mayawati not polarise Dalits? Whether you like it or not, elections are indeed about polarising votes towards one’s party and candidates. The biggest polariser since the British is the Congress which has divided Indian society by caste, community and religion by various policies and practices.

Divisive figure: This is another lie woven from the dead bodies of Gujarat 2002. In what way has development in Gujarat been divisive? Who are the politicians offering special courts for Muslims? Who’s offering special funding for Islamic and other minority schools and colleges? Who are the ones dividing the country? Removing article 370 for J&K is divisive or is it meant to firmly integrate the state with India? What nation-dividers even said there will be separate police stations or at least one Muslim cop in every police station? And yet criminals in the media (and you know all of them) accuse one person as divisive. So much so that one particular bimbo from NDTV is even ashamed to be Indian because Modi is getting nominated as PM. I believe probably she reflects the feeling of all the anchors at her channel.

Pick up and read any editorial on the recent Muzzafarnagar riots. Many may have missed an important thing. In addition to the deaths and a few arrests what are the editors talking about? You will find that that these articles are mostly discussing it politically. They are discussing which political party will benefit the most from the riots and deaths and which party will lose the most. This is how foolish and stupid our editors have become. And they talk about someone else being divisive? Collectively, the MSM is the most divisive political entity in this country. There is nothing they won’t sell to gain a few more bucks. There is nothing they won’t cover up for the Congress for a few more bucks.  And the guy who ignored UP riots for over a year, stated Assam deaths weren’t enough to report, who made his career politicising over the dead bodies of Gujarat with lies and hate-mongering against Modi sermonises the world to not politicise Muzzafarnagar. These are the shameless morons who pose as editors. In fact, it took the death of one of the “Hammam” to even talk about the UP riots for the media. Modi’s rise is directly proportional to the mountain of lies by these hate channels and newspapers. People aren’t being fooled anymore.

Polarising, divisive! Polarising, divisive! You will hear this chant over and over again but the criminals chanting this also know this won’t make any difference to the voter. Those who want to vote for Modi’s leadership will vote for it anyway. If the media crooks are trying to convert fence-sitters, they will do a bad job with their hate-mongering. It hasn’t worked before in Gujarat, it won’t work anywhere else. Indian economy is in doldrums, inflation, corruption, joblessness. These are all polarising issues but these are not divisive issues. These issues will indeed polarise people to pick a new leader and vote out the most corrupt party ever in any democracy. Modi isn’t corrupt and doesn’t allow corruption. That is the first thing about his elevation that scares our corrupt media and corrupt editors. In the aftermath of Modi’s elevation many corrupt editors are likely to face the music sooner or later.

Delhi Protests - When Chickens Run To The Media

What do the protesters in Delhi over the Gang-rape incident want? Almost everybody wants death penalty for rapists. The only thing that doesn’t seem to fit is why they are protesting at Rashtrapati Bhawan. After all, the president doesn’t make laws, he just signs them. The previous president probably made the current one a victim by pardoning some brutal murderers and rapists. Grievance, whether real or imaginary, affects all of us. The protests were long overdue and it’s quite a surprise that none in the media ever mentioned the amazing “resilience” of Delhizens to so much crime all these years.

In times of crises leaders speak with people. They deliver reassurance and confidence to them. They can feel the pulse of the people. Instead, what were our folks from GOI doing? They were all talking to the media. Well, the one thing we did get to know is how many daughters some of our politicians have. Everyone who spoke in the media made sure they told us “I have 3 daughters, I have 2 daughters” and so on. Home Minister Sushil Shinde even told us the Delhi Police Commissioner has 2 daughters. They are checking with everyone on how many daughters they have before speaking to the media. Why should I be left behind? I checked with everyone I could chat with about how many daughters they had. Next time there’s a murder we may have to check how many murderers some politicians have. Oh don’t laugh, that’s not a joke. If you see this clip from MailOnline you will see why politicians are hesitant to talk to people. Over 200 people with rape cases contested elections it seems. Other reports mention at least 2 MPs and 6 MLAs from various states who have rape cases against them. This doesn’t include “petty” crimes like murder, kidnap or assault.

There is no harm in a statement or two to the media through a presser. But let’s do a roll-call of the sound-biters. We had RPN Singh, Manish Tiwari, Sandeep Diskhit, Ashwini Kumar, Sushma Swaraj, Sushil Shinde, Renuka Chaudhary (She spoke in Telugu too for added emotional effect). Then we had Sheila Dikshit using all TV channels as a weeping pillow. Er… that is all channels, but TimesNow. I’m sure she will face the full fury of Fastcourt Arnab sooner or later. Then, moment of the crises arrived, when Sonia Gandhi finally got down on her knees to speak with some protesters. Only, nobody knows who she spoke with. Naturally, some suspect these so-called protesters were hand-picked NSUI (Congress supported union) members chaperoned by RenukaC and others for a special audience with SoniaG. Take a look:

Who are these people? First, on Saturday night (Dec.22) SoniaG meets a few kids outside 10JP and then the next morning she meets six of them. TOI-Delhi headlined the story as “Delhi gang rape: Unknown six meet Sonia, Rahul for justice”. Unknown six is fine to begin with but even after a day they are still the ‘secret six’. This govt has a funny way of meeting people. I remember last year Manmohan Singh met the “secret five” editors in a closed-door, private meet. The TOI report further comically adds the response of the six:

They (Sonia, Rahul) have assured us that certain sections of law like 201 and 307 will be added to rape cases so that the accused are severely punished. They also told us that the law and order situation in the city will be improved so that women feel safe," said one of them. Renuka Chowdhury said that the same group of protesters was seen outside 10 Janpath on Saturday night when Sonia came out to meet them around 11pm. "Sonia had asked them to come and meet her this morning. None of the protesters knew each other and they all have different backgrounds," said Chowdhury. Another protester said, "Rahul said while it is natural for us to be emotional, we should not be irrational. They have also told us that capital punishment is being considered for this case and it is being slotted under the 'rarest of rare' category. We are now appealing to all protesters to maintain calm and continue protests non-violently.

What exactly is the need for RenukaC’s clarification on the ‘mix’ of protesters? And the clincher, of course, is from our fearless national leader, Rahul Gandhi. He is reported to have said: “capital punishment is being considered for this case”. Really? So the ‘game-changer’ with politics in his pants and shirts is going to have a law for “this particular case” or is he now Justice Gandhi? If RahulG advises protesters not to be “irrational” as the TOI report mentions then he should first start with himself. But well, that is too much to ask. Even so, if this was indeed the thinking of the Congress heads then what was the idea behind excessive police force, water cannons, lathi charges, beating up innocent protesters, injuring journalists? Doesn’t make sense! It doesn’t make sense because like some media “lumpens” the Congis were busy making absurd statements in the media.

Did I say lumpens? Hmm! The protests had started off peacefully but by the third day headlines started changing. All the media channels were now flashing “protests turn violent”. Frankly, none of the protesters, aged 5 to 91, looked like violent types. So the specialists came in to fulfil the prophecy of a known media charlatan. These were the nice guys who came far more prepared with stones, sticks and inflammables. There are many who suspect these sponsored “lumpens” were from the NSUI and word got around on Twitter and Facebook too. The picture of violence does not seem to be from students, men and women who started the protests. There were women of all ages, even some over 70. Many claimed to be house-wives or working mothers with daughters. So who sponsored the violence? There’s only party that can gain from disrupting the protests and that is not hard to guess. So while the sponsored violence happened on the ground the ministers continued to float on the air. Home minister Sushil Shinde was everywhere.

Shinde said he met protesters on a Sunday. On Sabbath? He’s lucky some Jewish Rabbi didn’t hear that.  He asked if 100 Adivasis were killed in Gadichiroli should the govt rush there. No sir, definitely not; the GOI should go to Kudankulam, there’s no Congress govt there. Then he warned that if the govt met students today they’d have to meet Maoists tomorrow. Come on! That’s not true. The govt does meet Maoists whenever they kidnap people and hold hostages. I wonder if Shinde was secretly suggesting students too should start holding hostages. This guy would have made a great VP for George W. Bush. “We failed in Afghanistan. So what? Let’s go bomb Iraq”! In defence of Shinde I must mention that he is not a complicated man but making some genuine points but with some bad analogies. His act followed the wailing Sheila Dikshit who wetted our screens through CNN-IBN and NDTV. It’s unfortunate SheilaD is in politics. She could have been a great replacement for the late Meena Kumari, the tragedy queen. She told everyone how helpless she was and how she had no guts to even go and meet the rape victim. These are the Ministers people elect and then complain.

So when Shinde and Sheila failed to conquer through the media, the Congress pulled out its most powerful WMD; Weapon of Mass Delusion. They sent Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. I doubt anyone, other than media stenographers, even remembers what MMS mumbled in the few minutes that he read from a POP (Piece of paper). But to his credit MMS did leave the whole nation in good cheer and stomach-cramping laughter as he looked up from his POP at the end of his mumbling and asked “Theek Hai?” (Is it okay?). Debates are still on over FB and on Twitter as to who MMS was asking that question to. Some say the cameraman, some say SoniaG, some say Barkha Dutt, who desperately yearned for his speech. I even thought he was asking the national guest for the day, Vladimir Putin.

It amazes me that seasoned politicians don’t learn that media is made up of scavengers who live off bad situations and victims. Manish Tiwari’s I&B Ministry even sent a threatening advisory to curb the media showing ugly pictures and reports (read Google-translated version on Bhadas4Media). They say politics is the last resort for a scoundrel. They forgot to add that for headless chickens who have lost touch with people the first and last resort is a corrupt media. Instead of talking with people they were doing photo-ops and interviews in the media. Imagine how they are going to handle law and order.

When The 'Blue Turban' Is 'Allowed' To Speak

So the unthinkable happened. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh finally decided to speak to the nation. Good! I suppose shop keepers, farmers and word-count specialists in the media have finally understood why the diesel price hike and FDI in retail are good for this country. The men and women in our MSM could hardly hide their delight and rushed to gloat over the PM’s speech and how he defended his spectacular decisions and cut the Opposition to their pygmy size. Mercifully, the media stopped at calling it the “Big Bang” reforms and didn’t venture to call it the “Higgs-Boson” of reforms. But there are a few questions that our ever probing media never asked. We will get to those questions in a while.

The best article on the FDI I have read so far is once again from the online news media and not MSM. R. Jagannathan writes in FirstPost: “If these are reforms, I am Amitabh Bachchan”. He explains well that the latest actions by the UPA are nothing more than desperate measures. Of course, nobody has written with convincing data on whether FDI will benefit the ‘Aam aadmi’ or not very conclusively. But there is no doubt in my mind that the decision is not inspired by the urge to “big bang” but by a lot of unfulfilled commitments to investors and lobbyists abroad.

In the meantime, here’s a small conversation between two ladies from the MSM. This was on September 14. What is striking from P. Malini of The Hindu is that she states: “IF the PM is ALLOWED….” The PM, as head of the govt, is the most powerful man in the country. Does he need to be allowed to follow his light or convictions? But her statement does make sense because it indicates the PM hasn’t been making decisions based on the country’s needs or situations but on what he’s allowed to do by Sonia Gandhi and her private club. Cleverly, Sonia Gandhi’s club is divided in two parts as under:

Club-1: A coterie consisting trusted darbaris who help her manage the difficult and troublesome political aspects of running a govt through MMS. If good comes out, she gets the credit. If the opposite happens, MMS or any minister takes a beating.

Club-2: This is an exclusive group of people assembled under a kiosk called NAC. This kiosk is a vending machine for legislations of populist, welfare schemes. Schemes like NREGA, Right to food, Right to this, Right to that. Right to drain the economy!

The reward for MMS is that he gets to be the PM for all the beating that he takes. If courage, light and convictions were to drive him, as the two media ladies were negotiating, he would have resigned on the 7th day after the first month of his job on getting his pay-check. I read somewhere that the most common reason people quit their jobs is because their ‘boss’ is terrible. A real-life Hari Sadoo! In contrast, there are bosses who are with their people most times. In times of personal grief they comfort them. They help resolve work related issues. They seem to know when to intervene and when to keep off. A nation expects the same from its boss. It’s no big secret that MMS simply lacks leadership skills and people skills. Where a warm hug is required he would typically mostly do an “aerial survey” from a distance. I quoted Marcus Buckingham, a Gallup poll researcher, in one of my earlier posts and repeat that quote:

"What a leader does for followers is turn anxiety into confidence. They’ve always done that throughout time and in every different society and situation. When leaders lead well, it’s because they’re able to rally people to a better future and make people spirited when they were previously anxious." Problem is, MMS, not having won a single public election, doesn’t have any followers. He only has a lot of bosses. Which explains Malini’s “if allowed” tweet. And people, as they become more and desperately thirsty, see the mirage and ‘drink the sand’ hoping it would quench their thirst. Nothing does this better than this scene from the movie ‘The American President’(0.36 secs):

Presidential aide Lewis Rothschild (Michael J. Fox): …People want leadership, Mr. President, and in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand.

The President (Michael Douglas): Lewis, we've had presidents who were beloved, who couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference.

That would seem right. A huge population in India isn’t drinking the sand because it quenches their thirst; they seem to do so because they can’t tell the difference. And when they want water what our boss offers is FDI in retail. Drink that! And then he comes out of his slumber to speak to them on TV. No, not because he owes them care and understanding but because the Opposition is supposedly misleading them. If at all he wanted to attack the Opposition he was neither forceful nor convincing. If he wanted to separate people’s concerns from the political ones of his detractors he failed again. In ‘The American President’ the opponent, Bob Rumsen, is constantly attacking the President’s personal life and the bills his girl-friend is championing. After a long silence, like MMS, Michael Douglas chooses to address the issue (3.07 mins):

It’s just a movie. Yes it is. And the bills that the President mentions in his speech mostly didn’t make it. But we have known leaders from time to time to stand up and talk to people and assure them that their leadership is in good hands. They stand up and talk to people and not offer defence for some policy decisions. Did MMS manage to do that? Clearly not! From once being considered an emerging super-power comparable to the league of US and China, a pathetic PM has reduced India to being compared to Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. Sure, that is going to bring a lot of comfort to people. What next, will we be comparing ourselves with Somalia in the next speech? Ever heard the US compare itself with Brazil or Sudan? So Indians can drink the sand in the comfort that they’re better off than Pakistan and Bangladesh.

As for the political aspect of it, the media simply didn’t ask the right questions. Hillary Clinton met Mamata Banerjee in May 2012 to persuade her on FDI. That’s not me but a CNN-IBN report that stated it. Oh yeah, the same CNN-IBN whose Chairman recently wrote a book “Superpower”. Mamata’s reaction to FDI last time was no different from now when the UPA brought it up during a parliament session in November 2011. Did they expect her to revolt and even walk out of UPA? Soaked in the dirtiest waters of politics the Congress would have damn well expected it and planned for it. Isn’t that why the cabinet approved the policy last week even when the TMC minister and some Kerala ministers were absent?  Did the media ask them if they had spoken to SP and BSP prior to this latest cabinet decision? They did not. And CNN-IBN did have the greatest economist we have as a panellist to discuss the reforms and PM’s speech. Haha! If he sees the Bimboesque tweet from the Social Genius he will be pleased, everything’s fine.

It would be foolish to even assume remotely that Congress would have not taken the SP and BSP into confidence prior to introduction of the policy. All the charade of Mulayam Singh “keeping out communal parties” is just more sound-bites he feeds the stray dogs of the media whose editors then present it as gospel to their audience. MMS did tell the cabinet "The time has come for big bang reforms. If we have to go down, we have to go down fighting". After his speech, let’s just be thankful. I don’t think anyone would really want to see the spectacle of MMS fighting.
