Political Marketing: Part - 2

All the Gandhis and Vadras have come out. One after the other they hurl lies and get more theatrical as they feel the heat of losing power. On April 26, at various rallies, Sonia Gandhi was screaming and wailing “Desh ko bachao, Desh ko bachao”. And if that wasn’t effective she added “Hey Bhagwan; is model se desh ko bachao” (referring to the Gujarat model). When marketing fails, who you’re gonna call? God? Take a look at this ad:

What do you think? Would you buy the i20 because of the ad? What would you say about Hyundai if they put out an ad like this? Would you think highly of their marketing folks? In all probability Toyota would sue them. But given that politics is, naturally, full of immeasurable lies, court cases don’t happen that easily. But surely, you’re not going to think very highly of Hyundai’s marketing tactics if they advertised in this fashion. It doesn’t say much about itself but asks you to buy the i20 because the Toyota models are killers. Just replace Hyundai with Congress and Toyota with Gujarat model; the story is simple.

MTV (MusicTV) launched their channel in 1981 with a video that expressed their arrogant intent. That popular song by Buggles is titled “Video killed the radio star” which was the first ever aired by MTV. They believed video music will kill radio. Over the next 20 years video music was king. India even had Channel V. Even lousy music put forth with sassy videos became big hits. They just forgot one principle: Music is meant for the ears and not for the eyes. The Gandhis were good for the eyes but not for performance. People peddling trash as music with sexy videos survived for a while but it had to end. You cannot sell lousy music with good videos forever. You cannot sell bad governance and corruption with “rights”. MTV is not MusicTV now. It’s just an entertainment channel where the “M” doesn’t stand for Music anymore. Radio still survived and flourishes. To add to their woes there was the internet revolution, mobile and other devices which have made listening to music a different game. MTV at least learned to rejuvenate and reposition themselves. The Gandhis still think they are the “Mai Baap” of this country.

The most powerful software company in the world led by the world’s richest man missed the internet bus. Bill Gates’ vision of a computer on every desk drove him and his business to great heights. But Gates ignored the power of internet. Microsoft has never been able to catch up. Their Internet Explorer is scoffed at even today and had to be bundled with Windows to sell. That’s the consequence of failure to read the signs in time. The Congress, under Sonia Gandhi, was too arrogant to read the signs. They thought they will never be challenged this way; not by a Desi Chaiwallah. This arrogance is part of the Congress DNA. Jawaharlal Nehru did not estimate the Chinese would attack India. Nehru had inflicted the greatest disease India ever suffered from: Communism. You see, Nehru never trusted Indians possessing any skill, creativity or enterprise. He believed in the “Mai Baap” culture where govt did everything and the wretched citizens were lucky to get some share of the bread for which they should be grateful. So no matter how bad their performance, no matter how many the scams, no matter how much they disrespect people’s intelligence, the Gandhis and Mrs Vadra believe they have a divine right to power. In SoniaG’s opinion power is POISON not for her but for others.

Some folks will fondly remember they had limited choices for vehicles. You register for a Bajaj scooter you had to wait in queue for 3 years for delivery. You apply for a phone you had to wait 2-3 years. People distributed sweets in the neighbourhood when they got a phone. People had limited options in everything. Same was true for politics. For long the Nehru-Gandhi clan monopolised the politics of this country. They replaced the British and treated people the way the British did.

The “Gareeb” fellows in the villages and rural areas had never heard any other name other than Gandhi. That trickery of “Gandhi” was the biggest fraud on the Indians. That’s one of the Congress models; the “Nehru-Gandhi model”. IndiraG continued that model in different forms, including nationalisation of many banks and companies. At least till her and then RajivG there was some ideology, however faulty, that drove the Congress policies. And since IndiraG the classic Congress model has been “Gareeb”. Gareeb in different formats while the entire Gandhi clan institutionalised corruption. At least the positive thing I can say for IndiraG and RajivG is that they were Indians. The latest brand of Gandhis can hardly be called fully Indian.

RahulG failed, so SoniaG steps in with a 3 minute whining appeal on TV. She doesn’t seem to cut much ice so in steps Mrs Priyanka Vadra, wife of India’s biggest land-scammer Robert Vadra. He is the “national Damaad”. Vadra has built his empire of land banks, hospitality and air services business with a mere capital of 1 lakh in a matter of a couple of years. Let’s first look at the collective hypocrisy of this Gandhi-Vadra family. Incidentally, Mrs Vadra grandly told the media once that she wants to be calledMrs Vadra” and not “Gandhi”. But I guess that was before she was required to campaign for her family and extend the “Gandhi” model because many innocent villagers still think these Chinese Gandhis are descendants of Mahatma Gandhi. Here are RahulG and Mrs Vadra who are different persons in different situations. RahulG does photo-ops with villagers and labourers. He eats at Dalit houses for lipstick while his real life is totally different:

Half the time RahulG runs abroad and nobody knows where he goes. When he heard of the Uttarakhand tragedy he ran off to Spain. Narendra Modi rightly points out that come elections, the Gandhis start chanting “Gareeb, gareeb, gareeb, gareeb…” The Gareeb have long held the Gandhis as gods. Sonia Gandhi and her dumb son and daughter have taken this stupid model to a new level. In addition, they have another member, Robert Vadra, who the BJP calls “Ghotale ka badshah” (King of scams). And this king of scams is also exempted from security checks at airports and other places. How can we trust such a person not to smuggle stuff? Here’s another model of hypocrisy; a “Barsati Mendak” model:

Mrs Vadra now campaigns in Rae Bareli and Amethi, considered the exclusive real estate of her family. She whines and claims the BJP and Narendra Modi are abusing her, her family, her husband and they are victims of such abuse. Oh! Pardon them; they DARED to raise questions about the corruption in the Gandhi-Vadra model. Does anyone really think Rahul or Mrs Vadra give a damn about the poor? Who are they fooling? Considering Amethi is their real estate for many years here’s what is circulating on the net on the grand improvements in 50 years in the town:

Someone joked the Amethi toilet model has sunlight throughout the day. Another one sarcastically said they should have at least put a door to these monuments. I think the Gandhi-Vadra folks have taken the term “shitting bricks” a little too seriously. This is their model; crumbs for the unwashed masses. That is not all. If Pappu runs to Dalit homes and eats with them, Mrs Vadra is not very far behind. She wants to show how she is one with the poor villagers and sits down on wild shrubs and eats food in China plates with them. I wonder if their idiotic advisers ever tell them that even farm workers mostly sit under a shade on clean ground to eat food. But hey, this is theatre so a rough spot makes for more drama as kids watch.

Mrs Vadra calls Amethi her “holy land”. This holy land which has been nurtured under the Gandhi-Vadra model doesn’t have proper roads or toilets. On the day RahulG went to file his nomination (April 12) the SP govt allowed 24 hour power in Amethi for the Gandhi-Vadra event. Imagine, even C5M Sagarika Ghose now asks if the “Gandhi brand is in decline”.

That she is a Congress member and campaigns is fine but in all her life Mrs Vadra is not known to have done a single thing for Amethi or India. She just finds some sarees during elections to campaign like an “Indian”. She struts around like a queen in her little Queendom and our slaves in the media at TimesNow, CNN-IBN and NDTV fawn and kiss the ground she walks on. They don’t dare to ask her questions. The video that the BJP produced (“Damaad Shri – Ghotale Ka Badshah”) on Vadra’s scams should have damn well been produced by a news channel and not a political party. But they don’t dare. And filthy cowards like Arnab Goswami talk about “courageous journalism”. How much courage does pimping take for Arnab, Vinod Mehta or Aarti Jerath? Even a regular Modi-hater like Nikhil Wagle cannot help admitting that the fake victimhood and whining by Mrs Vadra won’t sell anymore.

As for the senior queen, Sonia Gandhi, she has played the backseat PM for 10 years and supervised the most monumental scams this country has ever seen. The media doesn’t dare ask one single question to or about her. They keep throwing lies and muck at Modi. Remember, the one person most responsible for injecting poisonous muck in election campaigns is none other than SoniaG when she used the phrase “Maut ka Saudagar”. She again backed it up with “Zeher ki kheti”. Such a spiteful, hate-filled woman cannot be in charge of power. After that, any adjective hurled at the Gandhi-Vadra clan for all the scams and corruption cannot be complained about. For long, the Gandhis have believed they had the sole right to rule India. From Nehru to Sonia Gandhi to RahulG to Mrs Vadra. They seem to believe it is their divine right. Even within the Congress party the most performing PM in recent history has to be PV Narasimha Rao who has been consigned to the Congress dustbin in terms of honour. PVNR pursued a model of “Reforms” in his PMship. What model does SoniaG or Congress now have that they can market? Actually, NOTHING! The model they created and delivered is a “Crash, boom, bang” model of India:

The Gandhis tell you that their “Crash, boom, bang” model which is the shape they have reduced India to is a better model than any other. They keep trashing the “Gujarat model” as evil. They do it with a generous dose of LIES which the media parrots then sing over and over again. Even when Modi has stated clearly that the Gujarat model cannot be fully adapted to the whole country, the Gandhis lie about he making such a claim. It’s the first time in Indian history that governance and development have received priority in elections. Modi’s simple model is “Sabka saath, Sabka vikas”. And the truth is that the Gujarat model is being applauded by most people who recognise it. In absence of any performance that they can market to voters, the Gandhi-Vadra clan peddles endless LIES and now play VICTIMS. They cite fake land issues in Gujarat when the biggest land-scammer of India, Robert Vadra, is within the family. There is no Congress model. The only model they have is the RSVP model, as Modi calls it (a sarcastic use of the French “Respondez Sil Vous Plait” meaning reply, if you please). “Rahul-Sonia-Vadra-Priyanka”! You have your chance to RSVP at the ballot box. Say “No, Thank you”!

PS: The Hyundai-Toyota example is used only to demonstrate a point and is not to be construed as a comment on the products of these companies.

  2. In the marketing rivalry to similar products with different brand name advertise vigorously to market their product. But in this election, the marketing got a new definition. Both the patties BJP and Congress banking on brand Modi aggressively. BJP telling it to the people of India, why everyone should buy brand Modi. Whereas congress doesn’t have a products to sell, decided to de-sell the brand Modi. By the end of the day with this campaign congress can only reduce some % of sales of Brand Modi, but will not gain much because they have nothing to sell. Why just congress even MSM cashing in on brand Modi. Even the international magazine “The economist” to hype their sale in India called names on Modi. http://newsnewton1.blogspot.com/2014/04/never-read-economist.html

Detractors are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves. We have all had them as we set and go after our objective, no matter where we are what our aim may be; there are enough slander, belittler, disparager, and defamer waiting outside to make fun or tell us we can’t do it, it is next to impossible etc.etc. http://7orientation.blogspot.com/

Any idea whats up with arnab? Apart from shouting his other negative was his need to balance arguments to the extreme even at the cost of sounding stupid. But something seems to have changed in the last 2-3 weeks.....his topics are complete trash plus there is a pappini mantra on the channel all the time

I was watching this Modis dil maange more statement of Modi and arnab was cornered by the army people and he was so cornered he did not allow and almost was saying no trade off, they were supporting modi and this arnab got caught off guard and was only trying to point on BJP and Meenakhsi lekhi was so good, arnab had no way to go so he said dont get martyrs into political arena.
When Army ex general was saying aleast he is talking about us he was red faced.
I dont know what would have hapenned he is supporting priyanka and trying to corner, he did not say Modi apologised but Major Bakshi said he already apologised then he slowly says yes ( like in Mahabharatha "Ashwathama hataha kunjaraha") This was arnab.
I had some kind of feeling he was moerate but in the last three weeks he has become another pimp for congress.
To top it all anothe Army man said I just dont want to talk to surjewala, because he was going all tangential nothing concrete and had to cut him off.
Thank you Armymen (i dont think you will ever be ex) showing the crooks in the media their place, you not only sacrificed for us so much but now you were part of taking this pimps like arnab to task

    4. I wanted to add another one when arnab was trying to prop priyanka against Smriti Irani, she was addressing her as mrs vadra and some how arnab felt bad and she said she only wanted her to be addressed as vadra. Smriti was saying we have generator and it may go off and talking from Amethi, so have limited time.
Then comes sabha naqvi, the senior journalist(pimp for congress) says no that is not right our relatives live somewhere near in Raebareli and they have 18 hours power it is bad but atleast better than some other places, pat comes the reply from Smriti, says I am in Amethi and you can see the development, red faced as a real pimp talks in front of a cop if got caught, was laughing like so bad, being a Woman I cannot say but was showing her all intentions.
Thank you Ravinar, for giving us a better platform to put forth our views, and what a great services you are doing please keep it up, I am anxiously waiting for your next one.
We really need good journalism for our atleast next generation, thank you so much for your passion and service.

  5. "The people who explain politics for a living – the politicians themselves, their advisers, the media who cover them – love to reach conclusions like this one. Elections are decided by charismatic personalities, strategic maneuvers, the power of rhetoric, the zeitgeist of the political moment. The explainers cloak themselves in loose-fitting theories because they offer a narrative comfort, unlike the more honest acknowledgment that elections hinge on the motivations of millions of individual human beings and their messy, illogical, and often unknowable psychologies."

The irony is, in an ideal world, the Gandhis would not get employment even as chaiwalas and Modi would be in the top job.

Robert on the other hand try very hard to look and behave western but fails miserably. No matter how much an ambassador car is decorated from outside, it is not meant for racing. When a couple comes in public and if they are happily married it shows. They need not do PDA but still the bond can be felt. Robert is used by the Italian gang. Once his utility is over he will be dumped. Robert had even filed a case against his father. For more mysterious details of R V see the below link.

  30. “Their Internet Explorer is scoffed at even today and had to be bundled with Windows to sell” – Microsoft underestimated power of ‘common people’, never thought that a concept like ‘open source’ will ever be able to challenge their supremacy. And when it happened, instead of improving their product, tried to do business by bribing corrupt governments (obviously India is one of those). But failed.

“The Congress, under Sonia Gandhi, was too arrogant to read the signs. They thought they will never be challenged this way; not by a Desi Chaiwallah” – similar story for congress and MSM. Never thought of SM which is similar to ‘open source’, can challenge MSM or a ‘Desi Chaiwallah’ will challenge ‘her highness’. People of MSM have found themselves totally unprepared. Counter attack of ‘common people’ with truth is destroying MSM and those who have been ‘evolved’ by them. Anything without substance never lasts long. You may call it a ‘usual aberration’ or mere ‘law of average’ but in my opinion this kind of MSM and Cong have already lived their life.

  31. While the Congress has helped immensely with the lack of governance, innumerable scams and current state of the Country, there is also an utter elitist attitude shown by the 'Gandhi' family. Congress came into this election like they did all the others — no plan, just we're the ruling family. This made it even worse when they were caught blind-sighted by how organized Modi and his campaign are in return — an actual brand, connect with the people and political acumen even their ancestors haven't had to deal with. Listen to Ahmed Patel, who is supposed to be a key strategist, who gave an interview to NDTV a couple of days ago (http://www.ndtv.com/elections/video/player/truth-vs-hype/watch-no-special-favours-shown-to-robert-vadra-ahmed-patel-to-ndtv/318930).

Every move and response from the BJP has been measured; meant to rattle opponents when needed. Hell, I even think they occasionally leaked information to the Congress — who were looking for just anything — to divert their attention while they executed a well-crafted game plan to end the dynastic rule of our democracy. Remember that Modi revealed during his Ghoshnapatra interview: 'watch how things will unfold over the next 10 days.'

Modi, and the BJP campaign, understands people and masses way better than any of the opposing parties (who rely on old tactics), but they also understand politicians that much more. He knows most of what they are hiding, and where their buttons are. As we reach the 'batting powerplay', he is pressing them one by one.

The opposition thinks labeling Modi as someone who lies in speeches like they do, they can turn his campaign around on him. But Modi is much more than that, he is about a new thinking, a connect, social media backed by political and marketing acumen, and built on a track record of governance over 10 years, something no one else can bring to the table. He may be killing them with his speeches, but he's killing them much more with what their campaign is doing on the ground every single day. To use a famous quote that I think is relevant, they're skating where the puck is going, not where it used to be.

    1. Exactly! It is sheer hubris on part of Congress. Modi is not new...he has fought and won 3 hotly contested elections. Even during his last two Gujarat Assembly elections, he had put the Congress on a mat. Yet they did not learn from experience. What's more...Modi had announced long ago that he was the PM candidate...so Congress knew exactly who the enemy was.

  32. I thought you already scaled the heights in Part – I but should have known better :D.

The analogy of the imaginary Hyundai advertisement naming Toyato is so apt to describe the stupidity of Congress behaviour. So secure were Congis in their cocoon, they didn’t realise what is happening in the outside world or market. That days of monopoly were over and market is flooded with different brands for the consumers to choose, whether it is cars or political parties. In such a competitive environment, will any company be fool enough to spend precious advertisement money to name their competitor and create an unintended buzz about the competitor’s brand? But stupid Congress (along with media), whose brains got addled in their Modi hatred, couldn’t realize this obvious truth. When confronted by a competitor with a better product i.e. Modi, all they could do was bad mouth Modi while advertising their dud product (RaGa). Naturally, that made the consumers curious to find out the truth about the product being bad mouthed by a competitor. After that, it was downhill all the way for Congress, since more and more prospective consumers (voters) got informed about Merit of Modi from real users (Gujarat), through word of mouth and of course Social Media. Existing customers of Congress also realized the dud that their product was (RahulG) and tarted dumping them. Now even GOD from Italy can’t save these Chinese Gandhis unless there is an extraordinary and preposterous scale of EVM skulduggery happens. Hope we as people create hell to address any such fraud or Modi Wave is big enough to sweep the EVMs away to victory.

    1. The bias of EC and Mainstream Media is now very apparent . There is not one single news channel ( including the slimy double agent India TV ) that does not spew venom against Modi and BJP ; and waste no opportunity to badmouth BJP . I am not as optimistic as many of the commenters here.
EC is deeply compromised . The rigged electoral rolls , deleted voters (targeting gujaratis in large numbers ), discriminatory treatment of political leaders.

      some examples of stark discrimination
Farooq abdulla is condoned, while giriraj Singh is disallowed even bail for a similar comment.
past two days various leaders spewed venom , justified Bangladeshi illegal immigrants , called Modi despicable names - but what has EC done ?? Nothing
shazia ilmi is condoned ( despite alluding that all Hindus communal by saying Muslims are too secular )
azam khan breaches EC dictat , nothing happens .
vadra and adani are being equated .. And so on
Muslims are being deliberately incited to be anti modi by twisting 2002 issues ..

and so I am concerned .. Media with a spineless EC could upset some calculations . And only time will tell ( may 16 ) whether Indians rise to the occasion and overwhelm all such petty evil tendencies and vote BJP to a thumping majority .

    3. I'm not worried about whether people will be swayed anymore - people have rightly become cynical about anything anti-Modi and those who want to vote BJP because they want Modi as PM will vote for them regardless. But as you say, the EVMs are still a concern. And where there's Congress, there's a risk of institutions being compromised so I wouldn't be surprised if the EC has also been subverted.

If the result on May 16th is not as is widely expected, suspicions will just increase exponentially. Let's hope the tsunami is enough to overcome Congress' desperate moves.

Since the last two weeks I find that the NDTV hindi channel morons are on a so called election coverage in various villages of UP.They are haveing one to one discussions with villagers and the coverage as beamed to the viewers appears to be perfectly neutral. But who knows what the teams are telling the villagers off the camera. Is this a sickular KhanChris project to brainwash the illiterates in UP?

  43. After becoming PM, Modi can concentrate on internal and external security threats and next elections in UP, Bengal and tamilnadu; dividing and carving new states from UP , maithili, bundelkhand, harit pradesh... strengthen party base in tamilnadu bengal.. and more importantly telangana and seemandhra. Modi should keep coming as hologram in all districts and should give speeches every now and then. Bangladesh must be radicalised and poor in bangladesh must be reconverted to hinduism or india first religion like moditvaism to wage war on remaining islam there. This can be done by having few spies in every village in Bangladesh. Indians in Malaysia must be supported to overthrow Malaysian government there and install batu presidency in malay peninsula. This will turn entire state of tamilnadu to be saffron stronghold for ever – even a millennia as tamils will support an ideology that supports their people.Dalai lama must be installed in Afghanisthan Bamiyan buddha kingdom - this will provoke all jihadis to attack bamiyan -- thereby to come and perish there if they do (use antiballistic missiles and laser directed energy weapons installed in moon and space). all young children of jihadis and genereal population coming there must be welcomed into a new militant strain of buddhism - to wipe out islam world wide. A stronghold of bamiyan is necessary for this.

  46. Many journalists have asked Modi about action against Robert Wadra. Modi's response has been as if he is evading this question.
If Modi has been raking this issue in his rallies, he should send his message with a punch that he will certainly set-up enquiry commissions for such high profile cases.
He should not look soft on the corruption issues he himself is raising.
That will give the AAptards an opportunity to say, there is a DEAL.

Imagine had Modi said that he will jail Vadra...media would have given different dimension to it ( hate politics blah blah ) and would have derailed his election campaign. I think he knows what he talks...he is close to perfect.

Now what kind of politician is meenakshi lekhi?? .According to her captain batra's parents are using their son's martyrdom for political gains wow!!!

    1. There is no doubt that Batra's Parents are using his martyrdom to further their political ambition.. Where is the doubt in that? What else are the credentials of Batra's Mother.. She had a great son. But elections , she is fighting as mother of Kargil Hero "Batra". And Batra's heroics belong to all of us to take inspiration in feeling proud of our Nation..So think before u speak.. Lekhi may be saying any trash , but the fact is Batra's family Fighting battle in the name of Shahid Batra...

    1. Agree Subbu swamy and Rama dev are big nuisance. Ramdev recent remarks on dalits will definitely cost votes for BJP in next phase elections. People who lack basic common sense on what to speak and what not. Shame on them. Sadly, Modi have to manage all these non-sense alone.

      Delete
    2. I don't think Ramdev's remark would have any impact on BJP's poll prospects... people understand very well that Ramdev is not a BJP member and BJP cannot have control over their supporters remarks.... especially at the time when other party leaders are making non-sensical statements...

  52. EC should ask congress candidates to wrap their 'right palm' in cloth while near a polling booth. Its a poll code violation. Also 'cycles' should not be allowed near polling booths.

    1. As feared , EC is completely compromised. Let us see how BJP deals with this new situation . Media is hyping. But a cursory reading of the said sections of representation of people act . The broadcasting media is at fault . The press meet was neither called for by Mr Modi nor does he control where all it will be telecasted and when.
and what about the many sins of EC ???? Many lacs not on voter rolls and probably deliberate ???

    2. Shouldn't Namo avoid this cockiness for the time being. If he derails the campaign due to some peccadillo of his, I will never forgive him. He should remember that crores( lakhs for AAP/Congi supporters ) of people have literally hinged their future on his becoming PM, yours truly included.

Two articles in Firstpost http://www.firstpost.com/politics/modis-hindu-problem-too-hindutva-for-spiritual-leaders-1506079.html?utm_source=fpstory_alsosee and http://www.firstpost.com/politics/puri-and-dwarka-shankaracharyas-to-campaign-against-modi-in-varanasi-1504819.html?utm_source=fpstory_alsosee

both say that Puri Shankaracharya is Swami Adhokshjanand, when several comments point out that he is not the official shankaracharya. So what is this mis-information. It seems PTI itself has said he is the Shankaracharya.
So it seems that FP is gonna stick to its post about that.

I wish you would write about this nameless formless institution PTI and who is it really controlled by.

Also wanted to highlight the lack of interesting articles in MSM. e.g, I noticed that the lotus had lost its color and even remarked about it to my mom. However only recently, Indian Express article came to light after Modi held it up.

Similarly, there is no analysis of Hindutva links of Congress leaders. I have a gut feeling that Congress's Hindutva roots are deeper and more viscious than BJP. But its only that, my gut. see there is the Dwarla Shankaracharya, then the 1000 ton gold saint etc.

Lastly, I would have liked to know the man behind the success of HCL Tech bagging all the UP govt contracts. There is definitely something there. But unfortunately no "khoji" article.
