Slavery By Any Other Name

Sometime last year I wrote the post “Independence not the same as freedom”. While we are an independent nation some have still willingly chosen slavery over freedom. In the US, where slavery was legal for long, some believed slavery is neither sinful nor immoral, was natural and inevitable. Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in the 19th century. In India there are still many who find slavery a natural and inevitable state of mankind. People are still called Nawabs or Rajas, Begums or Ranis, by a slavish media. The ones who set the worst examples are actually from public life. Here is an extract of the speech from the video I carried in that post last year by former US president John Adams:

This is a recent issue (of the Executive Review, from President’s office), and there's an article in here written by a "keen mind of the South," … who asserts that:

"There has never existed a civilized society in which one segment did not thrive upon the labor of another. As far back as one chooses to look -- to ancient times, to biblical times -- history bears this out. In Eden, where only two were created, even there one was pronounced subordinate to the other. Slavery has always been with us and is neither sinful nor immoral. Rather, as war and antagonism are the natural states of man, so, too, slavery, as natural as it is inevitable."

Now, gentlemen, I must say I differ with the keen minds of the South, and with our president, who apparently shares their views, offering that the natural state of mankind is instead -- and I know this is a controversial idea -- is freedom. Is freedom! And the proof is the length to which a man, woman, or child will go to regain it, once taken. He will break loose his chains, He will decimate his enemies. He will try and try and try against all odds, against all prejudices, to get home.

It doesn’t take a wizard anymore to understand that ‘freedom’ is the natural state of mankind. So what makes some behave in an absolute slavish manner? “Blood” worker Salman Khurshid says Rahul Gandhi’s cameos aren’t enough and they need ideological direction from him. From Rahul Gandhi? Haha! “10 out of 7” times RG is not even in India as his Congress foot soldiers point out anonymously. Permanent sycophant Digvijaya Singh demands RG be given “decisive” responsibility, even PMship. In September 2012, Khurshid again asked people to expect an “exciting greater” role for RG. Then as recently as October 20, Rediff reported a makeover for RG: “Congress leaders are toying with several ideas to lift the morale of the party and the government. They are finding ways to make glamorous RG's much-talked about promotion”. A makeover? From what? To what? You can change his appearance a bit, here and there, but I doubt you can change the way RG thinks (if at all) and all his public utterances so far have been worse than a 3rd grader. No wonder Congressmen are disillusioned with him as various reports suggest. But still, to some of these people RahulG is the great white hope for India.

Even after royal titles and privy purses have been abolished our media can’t stop being slaves to so-called royalty. Be it a Saif-Kareena wedding or to the Dynasty itself. Home Minister Sushil Shinde is willing to “shoot to kill” if ordered by Sonia Gandhi. Salman Khurshid is “willing to die” for her. In the previous post I mentioned a Mungeri who equates SoniaG to Mother Teresa. What is wrong with all these people? I can understand Khurshid though. You see, he is steeped in history of Mughal durbars. He writes novels and plays on the Mughal kings and nawabs. Even so, one can forgive wanting to be a durbari but willing to die? Naturally, Arvind Kejriwal lampoons him and asks if Khurshid is India’s Law minister or Sonia’s Law minister. If they make a Die-Hard 5, there are many options in India to replace Bruce Willis.

Nothing, nothing though beats B. Raman. The man is supposedly a former intelligence bureaucrat from RAW. No, not all of them are the James Bond types, so don’t picture that image please. He has lately discovered that Priyanka Vadra (aka Gandhi) is probably the one saviour that India desperately needs. The pic is a stunning tweet from him (August 30). I can understand the NaMo and darkness part. For long, the Congress, the media, some NGOs and lately Raman, have painted Narendra Modi as ‘Rahu’ who gobbles up the sun during an eclipse. That part was easy. You know, NaMo is dark, from an OBC community, not of royal lineage, was a tea-vendor at one point and it’s disgusting that he can even be a successful CM. To the likes of Raman, no court, no SIT is authorised to declare NaMo innocent of any crime. Trust me, that part I get. But it does baffle me why a reasonably educated man would call PriyankaV brightness at night. I truly hope for Raman’s sake it has nothing to do with her fair skin that would radiate brightness even in power-less dark nights in the constituency she usually campaigns in. Reminder: “Slavery has always been with us and is neither sinful nor immoral..”.

Let’s assume Raman was just being poetic with his “brightness at night” tweet. But it’s not just a tweet, there are whole articles. He recalls the innocent childhood of Priyanka and Rahul on his blog. Ahem! In the book 'To Kill a Mockingbird' Harper Lee does say at the opening even "Lawyers were children once". Everyone was. I guess even Raman was. And this is not the first time he is raging. In an earlier post ‘Raman Rage’ I mentioned how he went berserk in his defence of Sonia Gandhi, Barkha Dutt and Sagarika Ghose. He went to the extent of calling those ridiculing them Jihadis, Extremists and Neo-Nazis. He is also on record calling NaMo supporters ‘Nazi storm-troopers’. Now where does such hatred come from?  He is known to be a great fan-boy of Barkha, which is fine and understandable. He lately dislikes NaMo or his work or policies. Fine too. Does that make others Nazis? The number of times he has called others Nazis is phenomenal. And then he feels offended if he’s called senile? That is quite a light insult compared to his frequent outrage and calling others Nazis. Never mind!

Let’s ask why Raman sees PriyankaV as a possible saviour of the nation. An opinion? Fine! But even if he is peddling a mere personal opinion that surely needs to be backed by some logic. There is nothing that PV has done or demonstrated that makes her the saviour when compared to many other individuals. There may be any number of such individuals within the Congress itself. But why Priyanka? Only one thing explains it; Slavery! Mindless, senseless slavery to a dynasty. He calls himself a ‘strategy analyst’! Surely, one has to be Ravi Shastri to see any strategic analysis behind Priyanka as saviour. That wasn’t the first time though. In June 2012 he came up with some astonishing absurdities. He recommended MMS be made President and Priyanka be made PM (see his letter to Sonia Gandhi). Isn’t this nation lucky? Promote a non-performing PM as President and promote a no-work, no-experience, no-performer as PM. Someone who isn’t even an MP yet. Logic? Slavery! How is it different from Laloo appointing his wife, Rabri, as CM? And we know what happened to Bihar, don’t we?

Now that the Robert Vadra land deals are more in the open Raman must feel a thousand eggs on his face. Of course, the argument might be put forth that Vadra may be involved in irregularities but Priyanka is still the brightness at night. This is the tragedy when slave mentality forces public figures to pick leaders for the nation without reason and without accountability. Raman even suggests Sonia panicked over Vadragate but Priyanka calmed her and the Congress. He must still be in the "intelligence" business or must be getting daily secret briefings from the Congress eaves droppers. We are yet to get past the MMS disaster. There is a big difference between admiration and slavery. Congress minister, Ramesh Bagwe, even carried RahulG's shoes to protect it from bombs. Take that!

People admiring Sonia Gandhi is one thing; they may have valid reasons. She has done and at least demonstrated a few things. But if mindless slavery is to determine the course and leadership of a nation then one need not write long letters and argue or try to pass slavish nonsense as logic. It’s any day more appropriate for such slavish minds to simply put out an ad like that Chennai dealer. All it takes is to say “Madamji at your feet”. This nation has been a slave to many forces in history. One would have expected intellectuals and public figures to ensure “never again”. Instead, evidence grows that these very intellectuals may well be the admirers and causes of slavery and they even love being slaves. Slavery by any other name still remains slavery, it can’t be cloaked with intelligent claptrap.

  1. If so many people love being slaves, our elected representatives and unelected rulers aka bureaucrats consider themselves as petty potentates. I mean the "lal batti" culture. They get to jump the queue, gas cylinders get home-delivered, there's almost a complete absence of the everyday hassles an ordinary citizen faces at the hands of various govt. departments. At the worst they may have to keep giving a little something to the local patrakaar to keep his nose from straying into undesirable territory. These petty potentates or gaulieters pay homage to the regional satrap who cowers before HIS bosses, up up till the Delhi durbar. I wonder if we have a democratic culture at all.

Somewhat off topic, I may mention that in Sikh lexicon "Delhi Durbar" has negative connotations, in fact a synonym for tyranny. Not surprising considering the persecution the Sikhs faced at the hands of the Mughals. Now what is it about Delhi that it always gives us bad governments? Duryodhan comes to mind as an early example.

  2. B.raman was part of RAW that doesn't prove that he is James bond or highly intelligent man. don't forget p.j.thomas,A corrupt IAS from Kerala was made CVC NOT BECAUSE OF HIS ABILITY BUT BECAUSE OF HIS Loyalty and corrupt attitude so he will not take any interest in anti corruption activity.same thing was in 1962 nehru appointed his relative general kaul as commander in arunanchal pradesh during critical time when it was known that he is from supply unit and has no knowledge of war strategy and kaul ran away just two day before war.and don't forget PADAM SINGH A high rank civil servant of U.P who was caught cleaning mayawati's shoes on camera.fact is that only hardcore shoe cleaner get highest post in government.so the slavery of these so called intellectuals is obvious.

  3. No wonder RAW has been a spectacular screwup in the past few decades. Such senile sycophants had infected the organisation.

It could also be that Raman is looking for some cushy post retirement government inquiry job that lasts a decade or two?

Sycophancy in India is a gift that keeps on giving. It has become a perfected art in the Congress and other feudal parties. Get lessons from Digvijaya Singh, Salman Khurshid, and the rest of the herd at 10 Janpath.

  4. I used to be regular reader of his blog. But have stopped it. You cant help few things. Its no wonder RAW is nothing but just a impotent force. anyways, with all wishes for his health, i would say, its time he stops blogging and enjoys final days of his life.

  5. Excellent slap on the face of nonsense people like Raman. He blocks anyone who questions him even slightly without any so called "abuse". All the "strategic analysis" couldnt cover up the fact that he is just another sycophant of the dynasty. And his "logics" to oppose Namo are really "eye-opening" for us. Shame on such boot lickers.

  8. am just waiting for an thought-uproar from this generation and break away the powerful family and it's boot-licking supporters. Come 2014 and let us all vow to vote and oust this hierachy structure. Bring in some change, give them 5 years and decide about their fate.

I bet Congressmen don't have the spine to stand by themselves, by thought and good governance. All that binds together the INC, is someone's 'surname' !!

  9. Ha Ha Ha

    their sycophancy knows no limits.

you would like to remember the photograpph of Maun Mohan Singh greeting PRIYANKA's infant son, published on front page of newspapers across India.
So, while we are still questioning sycophancy over priyanka, PM saheb has since long back taken her son as the new boss.

  10. While the brain shrinks with age, the prostate continues to enlarge. In Raman's case besides physical enlargement the prostate seems to have taken over the functions of the brain too. Explains to me Raman's new found fondness for Priyanka Vadra.

  13. Dear Ravinar,

To say that this sycophant slave mindedness makes me speechless & feel ashamed for being an India would be understatement. But I also think that their could be a silver lining to all this sickness. If when Rome was burning, Niro was playing a fiddle, then Similarly, such dumb headed courageless royalty makes it easier for real heros & performers to replace them permanently for good.

  14. I also have seen some tweets from Pritish Nandy about NaMo,Gandi,Congress n BJP. And always stunned by their views and stance. Now Priyanka Gandhi !! Wow .. she never came out to fight from Amethi. And i wonder how she can shine in night. I would prefer NaMo's darkness than such brightness!!

  15. Majority of Indians are born to be slaves, they were slaves, first of Moguls and then Britishers for hundreds of years and still didn't learnt any lessons...in fact slavery is soo deep rooted that Moguls are characterize as seculars, progressive and peaceful rulers India ever had. No wonder RAW failed to prevent terror attacks as this Moron Raman was director of anti terror wing, what a tragedy for Indians. He might be responsible for thousands of Indians death in terror strike as a result of his efforts to prove his sycophancy towards Gandi family by ignoring terror warnings and by not making arrest of islamic terrorists to keep gandi vote bank intact.India will remain slave of gandi family in 21st century.

  17. I think why Indian people are very willing to act like slaves is because we have a system where almost infinite power (without responsibility) is in the hands of ministers, bureaucrats and even with those people who are remotely connected with them. In fact, I have seen people even in private sectors where they want to be servile towards their bosses - I have seen one my colleague requesting his boss to give his laptop bag to him so that he can carry it!! I guess this is because from childhood we are being told that to be in awe of rich and the powerful people.

  18. Majority of the Indians are slavishly independent. Fake Gandhis would not have ruled India for so many years, had it been otherwise. Muslims & Britishers wouldn't have ruled India for centuries had it not been so. We always have Ramans to champion the cause of these Gandhis, Nawabs, Sheikhs through out the history. But the greater tragedy of our country is that these rank slaves gets into key positions "intelligence gathering and analysis". As usual, a brilliant take, which tries to decipher the conduct of slaves. Thank you for the wonderful post.

  19. Raman is an senile idiot of the first order...by his own admission he handed over a very crucial piece of evidence (a detonator) that was found in the 1993 bombay blast to forensic experts of US to confirm whether Pakistan was behind the blasts. As expected the US govt misplaced this important piece of evidence to protect their ally pakistan. Raman himself has written about this. So you can imagine what a sycophant and an imbecile was under secretary in the RAW. No wonder we have so many terrorist attacks in india by pakis...with RAW in charge of our intelligence indian security is shafted big time...

  20. Excellent Ravi. But let us look from side of Raman. He likes licking white feet morning to night. Won't be better if he got an extra pair? Looking at Priyanka's face one can be sure that her feet will be dazzling white, and worthy of worship by Raman.

Now on a serious note, Indian culture breeds psycophancy and thus corruption. It is matter of great shame that we continue to behave like that. Look at Officer Khemka, the price he is paying for being honest. Washinton Post, today, has published his story. The country need to propagate Khemkas and eliminate Ramans, if it has to ever become a Civilised nation with proper governance.

You have solved the puzzle. Raman has found NAMO's feet darker in the noon..and Priyanka's feet brighter even in the night. Certainly this necessity to like White Feet shows in his tweet.

It is not uncommon for people at his senile age to behave like this.. There are many in the country.. like Vinod Mehta.. who also go gaga over P.Vadra..

Let us ignore these old men.. and move on in life..

  23. This article made me physically sick. Reading how this Raman person, an intelligence officer, is pushing for Priyanka Vadra to be the PM just sounds utter insane. What is this country coming to?!!?! How can someone even make such suggestion about someone who has no experience, never been demoratically elected to any office, married to a corrupt and villainous criminal, etc. The list just goes on.

Utterly disgusting remark from Raman. This guy more than senile, he has lost his marbles for the lust and appreasement of Antonia Edvige Albina Maino aka Sonia. :puke:

  26. Excellent article to the core!!! Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank lord you are not with MSM otherwise a revolutionary nationalist inside you would have died a tragic death. You are so accurate about Modi part, Modi is now essential part and parcel of all socio-political-journalistic venture, starting from cheap sms, tweet to big articles and manifestos of parties. If one doesnt include Modi as reference to their sample (as we call in scientific measurement, mostly done with reference and not in absolute sense), their analysis stands vulnerable to peer reviews of global community.

Just a friendly advise : publish a book yearly (like a journal with volume number, year etc) about your articles on mediacrooks.
