SIT: Nero Never Fiddled

The Mahatma Gandhi memorial at Rajghat, Delhi has the epitaph “Hē Ram, the words he spoke just before he died after being shot. Thousands pay their respects to Gandhi here every day. Every one of them reads the epitaph and the Mahatma’s last words have been taught to us in schools and history books. But did he really say those? No one has compelling evidence that Gandhi did say ‘Hē Ram’ and none has ever been presented. He could well have said anything else or maybe even nothing at all. This is how myths work. It starts with somebody’s imagination or hallucination, somebody influential. Then it creeps into history books and the media dishes out propaganda. Before long the myth becomes the established and accepted truth. But not forever.

Closer to present day, for years some in the Indian media have reported that the Supreme Court had rapped the Gujarat govt over the 2002 riots with: “Neros were looking elsewhere when Gujarat was burning". Did the SC actually say that? Let’s assume they did. But Arjun Modhwadia, Congress leader in Gujarat has promised to prove the SC statement is true in the Gujarat Assembly. He is struggling to establish this though. He is searching for evidence and so am I. Whether Modhwadia presents the evidence in the Gujarat assembly or not, over the last decade many celebrity media anchors have used the supposed statement of the SC to equate Narendra Modi with Nero. Story is that the Roman emperor was famously fiddling while Rome was burning so he could make a palatial complex out of the ruins. So much was invested in painting Modi as a murderer and looking the other way during Gujarat 2002 that the SIT Closure report must have come as a shock to a huge industry of liars. The SIT investigation is neatly summarised by Offstumped and to cut a long story short I am just quoting his summary here:

... the thrust of CM’s speech everywhere was that the incident was heinous, organised and that the culprits would be brought to strictest punishment.. . . .it is not the case that the Chief Minister made any assertion concerning- the obligation of any religious community to do such acts, as are likely to cause disharmony. He did not make any appeal to Hindus or Muslims to take up arms against each other.’it is reasonably concluded that no utterances on part of Shri Narendra Modi could ‘be attributed suggestive to any intended promotion of hatred ill-will etc.. amongst religious groups…

… the Learned Amicus Curiae has agreed with the various recommendations made by the SIT on the different issues inquired into /investigated by the SIT. However, the Ld. Amicus Curiae is of the view that, at this prima facie stage offences u/s 153A(I )(a)& (b), 1536 (I 166 and 505 (2) IPC are made out against Shri Narendra regarding the statement made by him in the meeting. In this connection, as discussed, above SIT is of the view that the offences under the aforesaid, sections of law are not made out against Shri Narendra Modi. In the light of the aforesaid facts, a closure report is being submitted for favour of perusal and orders

Since the SIT closure report did not suit their taste the media typically hung on grimly to the utterances of the Amicus Curae (AC) and kept suggesting Modi could be prosecuted based on the AC’s report. The AC has offered his opinion which does not constitute evidence. His opinion has also been considered and reported upon by the SIT. Let us do a roll-call of the vicious actors in the decade long campaign against Modi – Teesta Setalvad, Shabnam Hashmi, Arundhati Roy, Harsh Mandar, Sanjiv Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Mallika Sarabhai … where do I stop? It’s too long. And then there’s another list from the media. Barkha Dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai, Sagarika Ghose, Arnab Goswami, Vinod Sharma, Vir Sanghvi…. Again too long a list. All of these characters should hang their heads in shame and should actually apologise for the untruths they spread about Modi and Gujarat. In their Hate-Modi campaign they have even scoffed at the development of Gujarat and the progress the state has made under him. Such a campaign cannot be anything but ‘motivated’ and requires huge funding to sustain.

SIT makes the biggest bonfire of media lies

The lies, the half-truths have all come to haunt the biggest personalities in the media. It is even unfortunate that some of them, also involved in other scandals, continue in their jobs. Many members of the Congress party have also wilfully indulged in encouraging the lies about Gujarat. After the SIT report, the next investigation has to be into the funding of NGOs like those of Teesta, Shabnam and the activities of Sanjiv Bhatt and many others. And what do we do with all the fake reports by the media over the decade? I have a modest suggestion! Put them all together and burn them in the biggest bonfire in your neighbourhood. The other lesson people should have learned by now: Never trust one word of what the news media says except for the bare news they report. They have lost all credibility and if they wish to regain it, the 5-star criminals must resign. The SIT has burned their lies and deceit. And let the bonfire of their reports and vanities be as hot as the fires of Rome.

Of the gang of crooks in the news media there are a few who still have people’s respect. One of them, Ravish Kumar of NDTV (Hindi) recently tweeted and I translate his statement: “Government’s lie and the media turns those lies into truth”. That’s the modern media’s daily job. In all of this the activists and media crooks have even forgotten that if ever a case were to be indeed brought against Narendra Modi he has every right to legal defence. Whether Modi will ever need it is a matter of conjecture but no man in Indian history has been so held guilty by suspicion, accusation and propaganda as he has been. Even known and convicted terrorists in our prisons have got better deals. Narendra Modi was and remains an innocent man in the eyes of the law as of now. From CMs to PMs there have been instances of negligence during agitations and communal riots. That may be true for Modi as well but the myth of him being an instigator, conspirator or supporter of the 2002 riot ends here. This particular myth, like the ‘Hē Ram’ of Gandhi, will not go on to become gospel truth.

And yes, what about the liars in the media and NGOs? There has to be a law by which such campaigners should be prosecuted and brought to justice. What about the supposed statement of SC comparing Nero fiddling while Rome burned to Gujarat or Narendra Modi? Although I doubt SC actually made that statement even learned judges can sometimes use myths as an expression. There were many fires in Rome during the period of Nero’s rule. The famous fire in which he fiddled was during the year 64 in the first century. Awful truth is: Violins weren’t invented till over 1000 years after Nero’s death. Oh well! Since that was a myth the historians suggested he must have played a stringed instrument called the ‘Lyre’ but even that turned out a hoax. Rome didn’t have an SIT then. If there had been one, the SIT would have established the Truth: Nero Never Fiddled!

  1. How long this episode will run as the TV channel serial? It is a known fact that some media - under pay roll of the corrupt cong - beating the bush with their weapon to make their cruel school of thought as truth- are keeping the incident alive with the help of some paid agents filing cases in one or other court in the first place.

Moreover, the incidence depiction has obscured the preceding event in all respect is a sorry state of affair. Even purported leading dailies did not spare NM sans arraigning thus adding fuel to the burning issue -courtesy some crooks- inviting opinions.

This will precisely a subject for school syllabus if the corrupt cong is allowed to ruin our nation further. I am confident the common will decimate the cong as they did DMK in TN but alternative! the BJP is unable to pick up the thread since it is populated with internecine quarrelsome leaders for petty affairs due to ega as they had not elevate good for nothing as leaders as the corrupt cong did to be loyal for their unbecoming

  3. True. There ought to be a law against false reporting/commenting. The Social Media should embark on a campaign to prosecute the MSM for all their lies of the last decade. The minimum immediate we demand is an honest apology by all those who indulged in the obnoxious propaganda against NaMo. That propaganda is an insult to all the truth-loving people of the nation. People like Teesta, Bhatt, Hashmi, Roy etc. should be tried in a court of law and punished to prevent such malpractices from repeating in the future.

Ravi - Great Analysis. Was expecting the post after TV drama a couple of days back.

I used to think that Kyonki Saas bhi Kabhi Bahu Thee ran for donkey's years. Don't know what term to use for this never ending TV series on NAMO bashing.

The best part on Judge Arnab's court was Smriti Irani's performance. She ripped NAMO baiters apart by citing facts again and again.

Also infighting within BJP is a very good news item used since 2004 when NDA lost election. You dont have to prove it and just mention it. Strange that people vote for divided BJP rather than united Congress!!!

I must say one thing - BJP has closed its eyes and buried the head in the sand like ostrich. They cannot see there is a constituency to be explored. India has a large young population. A majority of them admire Modi. Get Modi on national stage after Gujrat elections and mobilise the youngsters to vote.

I too admire him for development work in Gujrat and we should give him a chance to prove his worth at the National level. Let him fail and prove himself useless (as Modi baiters want us to believe) after atleast trying.

If Gujarat (state known for entrepreneurial skills and for sensing opportunity to make money) is voting him back to power again and again, the chap must be doing quite a few things right. But our MSM will not see that.

Why not have SIT to investigate funding models of NDTV, Tehelka, NGOs run by the liars etc. and then lets debate.

Though it is on a tangent - but BJP should question on TV why the current growth rate (comparitively high at 7-9%) is not called Hindu Growth Rate but the lower ones of yesteryears was called Hindu Growth Rate to ridicule us. Let the bloody stooges of Congress and Commies squirm in their seats while answering this.

Ravi - Great job again. Please let us know, if we can be of some help

  5. Who used the word " Maut Ke Suadagar"..The well established Italian Mafia ( Sonia G). It has now been proved beyond doubt (by almost all investigating agencies inside and outside India)that Quattrochi was let out of Bofors and other scams due his closeness to Gandhi family i.e. Ms Antonia.

Gandhi must have called Godse, Harami. But what would people think about Gandhi uttering a word like that. So his trusted assistants twisted it to Hey Ram. :-)

  7. Great job!!! MSM doesn't have guts to have a discussion on SIT report, What is there to discuss when the report is in public knowledge, they will get slap from people, so they are not even ready to utter a word about SIT report. A Kasab who was caught red handed is getting a royal treatment was given a lawyer to defend himself, where as Modi who was not even allowed to speak for himself.. shame..

    1. I don't know in what capacity Mr Manoj Mitta, reporter of Times Of India, helping Mr Sanjeev Bhatt in drafting his affidavit.
Everyone knows, the proximity of Mr Bhatt with state Congress leaders and Mr Manoj must be aware that he wasn't doing it in political vacuum. The journalist and reporter Mr Mitta ought to know about the political ramifications of his this act.
I think, press council should take cognizance of his misdeeds and strip him off from all the privileges of him being journalist belonging to fourth pillar of democracy.

  9. SIT report was a revelation. What was astounding to me was that NAMO acted swiftly thoroughly to control the riots as a first rate administrator will do.I hope Dr SS gets into seat of power for 5 years to rid us once for all the scums which are occupying seat of power in the government, in the media,in the EC,in the judiciary,in the bureaucracy.Collect back all the looted wealth of the nation sitting in many off shore banks. Then NAMO should take over the reins. We need a thorough scrubbing, then bleaching the whole spectrum of Indian ruling class structure.

    1. Not really.. I think according to you the riots were created by Modi and Godhra was the revenge... Learn to read posts in the context. The media is being held responsible for their crimes not for the riots.

  11. Ravinar, can someone start a precedent by sueing the MSM /(split)personalities for all the decade long lies so that they will think twice before publishing their version of lies...sorry news.

  12. Wah Wah! Great Analogy - Nero Never Fiddled, neither did NaMo. The Pillar of (Un)Truth - the "Fourth Estate" is totally swayed over by promises of some "Real Estate" and are trying to fiddle with Truth - myth repeated so many times in the fond hope it becomes established and accepted as truth. But they did not bargain for MediaCrooks watching and catching them with their pants down each time, did they? Fantastic Post, Ravinar ji
While at it, I have a earnest request - you should write a text book Ethics in journalism. Having been associated in managing a Journalism School, I felt this is one area where there was no good source of literature. Please consider.
Have a great day and keep the good work coming. Pranaams and thanks for this Patriotic piece on Anniversary of the First War of Indepence.

  13. Hello Ravi! You are spot on as ever. Besides "Hey Ram" - the supposed last words of The Mahatma; there are many a myth about Mahatma[?], his philosophy, him being the sole arbiter of Indian Independence, him being the saintly pious man or what have you. It is time these and many other myths about him be erased once and for all and truth be borught forward. But that's a topic of another critique.
About Narendra Modi being painted a Monster or Fiddling while Gujrat was burning...you are absolutely right that The Hate Modi industry has been made to eat their words by SIT or Amicus Curae. But these luminaries are beyond any shame or remorse. And we need not only stricter laws but the strictest implementation to put these worthies behind bars for rigorous imprisonment because they deserve it.
And the Awful truth that: Violins weren’t invented till over 1000 years after Nero’s death; least said the better. Their lie bitter truths behind Russian and French Revolutions that go on to prove that these 2 incidents were more of Fiction born out of Fertile imagination of belonging to Myth Creating Industry.
I rest my case with the fervent hope hoping against that justice shall be done in this Bapu-Land. KRV

  14. Just like Retd Justice P.B Sawant, CM Modi must also sue the whole lot, Arnab, Barkha, Rajdeep, Mrs. STFU Rajdeep, Sanjiv Bhatt, and Teesta Setalvad. For atleast a 100 crore each. They deserve the harsh punishment and it could also help fund his 2014 campaign.

  15. Dear Ravinar,

Somehow the MSM now is trying to suggest that Amicus Curiae is an evidence which is baseless.Nothing stands more taller than the SIT report.
Off the Topic : Our obnoxious Sagarika the goose was discussing on 1oth May " Are Hindus being persecuted in Pakistan". Really felt like whipping her hard on that. Hindus in Pakistan & Bangladesh are literally on verge of extinction due to the persecution in past 50 years. Shame to her. May she Rot in Hell.

I think Ravinar is doing an excellent job of exposing the biased MSM who wear their colors on their faces.

I remember an NDTV journalist pumping her fist in a celebration of victory when the CBI court struck down Subramanyam Swamy's petition against PC. This is on live TV. She was jubilant. What about that Mr.Satyanarayanan? Why don't you teach some objectivity to NDTV.
