Arrival

I remember that one morning. We were scrambling down the stairs to safety from the second floor. Any moment the building would have collapsed on us. The stairs and the railings were shaking wildly; we didn’t know what hit us. I was the last to leave home on that cold morning. All we knew was how to run by instinct. For the next few days we slept in other houses of our family. I kept a glass of water on the table all the time to watch if the water shook. I stayed up nights watching it. Whenever the water shook a bit we scrambled to the ground. That was Republic Day in January 2001 when an earthquake hit Gujarat at 8.00 am. For a whole week we felt the aftershocks and rushed in and out of our homes. I remember that nightmare. In one particular aftermath over hundred children were killed under a school building that collapsed in Ahmedabad. Nobody remembers! The epicentre of the earthquake was Bachau in Kutch. It destroyed everything in that area. Mention “Mansi towers” in Ahmedabad and people will tell you gruesome stories of deaths. Years of toil, hardwork and life and savings were destroyed in 10 seconds flat. Over 20000 were instantly killed in that earthquake. I remember that one morning.

It is under these circumstances that Narendra Modi was sent to Gujarat to replace the CM to ensure relief work was carried out in great speed. It seems Modi was known as a specialist in relief works and social service. Much of the relief was provided by RSS workers and private NGOs that did a better job for the poor. The media would have you believe that this man was sent to turn the earthquake disaster into a “Hindutva laboratory”. Frankly, I had never heard of Modi even then. We were more bothered about restoring normalcy to our lives than bothering who the CM was. It was months before the govt helped in reparations and it only speeded up after Modi became CM. They would have you believe that the man who turned around Kutch with speedy relief is a mass-murderer. No bigger lie has ever been perpetrated in the history of free India. If you visit Kutch today, you’d be delighted how the houses and homes have been rebuilt and of a better quality. Hospitals have been restored to a better quality. 8.00 am on May 16 will, hopefully, shake up India again, in a positive manner.

We cannot bring back the dead. No matter how much we sympathise and empathise we cannot feel the sorrow of those who lost their close ones. The Godhra incident and riots of 2002 are now known more than any other riot that ever happened in India. There isn’t much left to be said. In politics, surviving is a skill. Modi had that skill despite many wanting him dead. It is only in December 2002 I first heard the first speeches of Modi. Anyone who heard him saw a passionate man with extraordinary oratory skills that connected with people. His burden was not only to prove himself innocent but to perform. The media ensured he would never be given the benefit of doubt and therefore the only option left with Modi was performance.

When Modi was nominated PM the Congress and the media started screaming he had disrespected LK Advani and the seniors in the party. If you are someone who respects truth and performance then one has to admire the fact that the BJP showed the courage to move on and choose a new leader. You cannot think of this happening in Congress where a fake Gandhi is a permanent leader. Change matters. Change is inevitable. That BJP showed the courage to move on from Advani is a fantastic achievement that is under-rated by our media. I started writing this blog to counter the lies and propaganda of media. It is unbelievable that the same media is now claiming they created the media hype around Modi when they actually wanted him dead. I didn’t think when I started writing that Modi would be a PM candidate or ever be PM. That was hardly my concern. That a news media could lie so much about one person must come with a heavy price. The ones who enriched themselves through these lies are now sermonising on the Modi-miracle. Laughable!

I have nothing much to say on this extraordinary phenomenon called Modi but pay a tribute to the dead characters of many of the media crooks:

My words are not meant to imply death of these people. Its the death of their character and conscience. I hope they will realise their lies did not pay. I hope they realise people are not fools. I hope they will concede the arrival of the moment. I hope they have the decency to acknowledge they were wrong. As for me, I just did a job and I can quit in honour. I call it Arrival.

    2. THOU SHALT NOT QUIT! We do not see the media thugs changing, not in this life. They will continue to peddle lies and inflict untold misery on India. It is their nature to be evil, just as it is the nature of a scorpion to bite - even if you do good to it. So, Mediacrooks continues to have an important role to play. Jab tak Media rahega, Mediacrooks rahega!

  8. Once again Hats off sir, reminded me of "Men Of Honor" final scene
Carl Brashear: Forgive me sir, but to me, the Navy isn't a business. It's an organization of people who represent the finest aspects of our nation. We have many traditions. In my career, I have encountered most of them. Some are good, some not so good. I would, however not be here today were it not for our greatest tradition of all.
Captain Hanks: And what would that be, Chief Brashear?"
    Carl Brashear: " Honor, sir"

  14. It takes something extraordinary in a person to get where Modi did, given where he started. During the election campaign we saw grit, hard work and a calm mind work towards the goal. Modi also has the ability to spot and groom talent...as seen from Amit Shah.

Time to rebuild our nation, folks! Acchhe din aa gaye!

Ravinar, one laddoo box in the BJP office is certainly yours...you have told the truth to countless readers. Thanks for that!!!

  18. At some point in 2010, I remember Rahul Gandhi had come to my college in TN. Our class advisor handpicked a few students, made them memorize some questions and ask that to him. At that point, I had literally 0% knowledge in politics of India. I had always known about Modi. My first view of Modi was when he won his second term elections and I was in awe about the wave of people standing in that sun, waiting to see the man they had elected as CM. That was my first shot of politics in television.

But like all uncomfortable Indians, I had been wired to sympathise for 2002 and reject Modi's point of view. Fast forward to 2013, my sister recommended me your blog. She had said these words: "Read this with an open mind. This person is not the usual right-winger. He writes with a lot of facts and logic."

And so, I started to plough through your articles, sometimes spending late nights reading how you had consistently attacked our MSM's hypocrisy. From then on, it changed the way i watched TV. I have to thank you for that. Your blogs have been the source of hope for some days when I had dark news and disappointing days. I don't know who else should take great pride in BJP's victory, but you sir have all the rights for it.

Thank you for this journey that you provided and for having come along with all of us in this victory for the nation.

  19. You have shown what commitment is, what courage of conviction is! You did not do a 'job'. You awakened the basic human in each of your readers - gave them power (with documented data) to question the edifice built for 12 years just to see one person out of Indian politics!!
I, like most of your readers and followers, earnestly request you to continue your blog. It will have very essential function to redeem the pledge Narendrabhai has made to the nation.

Sadaa Sukhi Raho, Dhairyawaan Roho. Vijayee bhava!!

  20. Living in Chennai, I was boiling milk for my baby and I noticed ripples in the boiling milk. This was when the earthquake had struck. We went out gathering only the baby, came back inside after sometime. We turned on the TV to know about the ghastly earthquake that had struck. It is only due to passion, care, and hard work that Modi was able to carry out the reconstruction after such a massive earthquake in record time.

Our media, as you have right said, will never remember the loss of lives due to natural disasters. Is anyone talking about Uttarakhand, where nature showed its full fury?

They have made the Godhra Riots one mega factory which gave jobs to all those who are really good for nothing, The pseudo-intellectuals who have damaged India! It is sad that these guys are able to write trash and pass off all their personal prejudices as an analysis.

You first tweet of the morning has come true, and I wish India all the very best!

  22. Heartiest compliments to you Ravinar for a great job over all these years. The opening para brought to mind the horrifying disaster that was on our TV screens. I recall the many initiatives that Modi did for the rehabilitation of the victims. Though I came across your blog just a few months ago, I managed to go through the archives with interest. I am a die hard supporter of BJP, voting for it through thick and thin and you accurately represented my disgust and anger at the Fake Gandhis and the machinations of the cabal around them.
Finally, I think you should continue because that is the need, a sane voice in the jungle of contradictory and manipulative media. There will be a lot of the hidden stuff to uncover and also to be a corrective influence should the new rulers feel inclined to repeat the mistakes of the past.Absolute power corrupts is the adage, why should BJP be immune from it?
Many congratulations to you for your great work.

  24. Exactly as you've mentioned, a Rajdeep column in today's (16 May 14) Deccan Herald (A paper with its circulation mainly in Bangalore) seeks to claim credit for a Modi Victory becaues as per him, the media played a major role in projecting Mr. Modi. Such a disgusting, congenital liar.

  32. Well, the brains who recognized and sent Modi to handle things in 2001 relief efforts should be applauded. Modi is a politician and there is no arrival/departure business. PM giri is not same as CM giri when he was lording over a microcosm of India aka Gujarat. The character and the true grit will be revealed after he sits in the PM chair. I always believed that the chair picks who should sit in it.
Hope the good and wise guide PM Modi in the days ahead and may he continue to exhibit the strength of his character.

We need you to continue to keep vigil and warn us against such deceitful trickery.

I was introduced to mediacrooks by a friend after delhi election. I supported AAP and was not convinced with their decision to take support of congress and form a government.

After I started reading your articles and following you on twitter, things started getting clear step by step.

When one person was fighting battle on ground, doing rallies, travelling 3-4 cities a day, you were the one giving us a hope that it is possible. Without you being here and writing, I would not have believed that Modi could get 300+ seats.

Though we never met (and would probably never) in personnel, but I felt that we were meeting twice a week 'here' and daily on twitter.

Thanks for taking up courage to start this blog and maintaining it during highs and lows, ups and downs. I request you to continue with the same passion; not about only crooks in the media; but this time of the achievements of the Modi Govt.

We, as citizen of India deserve 'at least' 10 years of Modi govt to clean up the dirt and back on development track. Please be here to convey us the truth, to give us hopes.

    Vande Matram !!!

  92. Hi Ravinar, You writings have really opened my eyes and I am sure of many others to see the real face of MSM. I believe the way you have exposed the MSM will stay with your followers for ever and if the MSM does not change its way, they will continue to see the nefarious design of MSM and will expose them to the rest of the world thru social media. I once again congratulate you for such a wonderful initiative and eagerly await for your next avatar

I also sincerely believe that corrupt media houses...(the so called "news traders" "presstitutes") should be sent to jail.
I'm an ardent Modi fan (used to be an active member from HCU, ABVP unit) and I wish India would be a better country without these news traders (I'm telling this ... not because of my inherent bias... but because I'm an Indian first )
    MODI SHOULD PUNISH THESE GUYS.

  109. Hi Ravi, talking about quitting. No man, continue this, and launch a TV network wherein you should anchor many a programme. I should not miss your writings. So long there is breath and strength to move your limbs, you should not stop.

Advani, MM Joshi and few such other characters are spent forces. They should vacate their place from the BJP on their own.

We look forward to having a clean Govt which should address itself to all issues which are of concern to everyone. India should generate growth in all aspects, spread literacy, remove social inequalities as far as possible and teach Indians as to how to keep their head high with self pride, and etc etc.

I am sure you will be there in one capacity or the other. We need you. You are great.

  110. @mediacrooks: I have read all your blogs but have never commented. Not voting, I don't like shouting online. But since this is your last post, I just want to say thank you for reality checks and your wonderful writing skills. I agree that brand mediacrooks must be given rest. You did the right thing, say what may, the posts were all about bringing out negativity in the media. It must be very difficult for yourself to keep looking for negativity all the time. In that sense, yes mediacrooks must be rested. But I sincerely hope you will start writing articles with positive outlook and inspire generations to come. There is a lot more work to be done on the education (esp Indian history) sector.

    ReplyDelete
  111. You've done millions of Indians a favour, informing them about corruption by news media. I too have been influenced a lot. Although I was no fan of NDTV and IBN group, my suspicions were confirmed, and I found real reason to denounce them. Your blog changed my opinion about Hindustan Times, and eventually, even the much-revered The Hindu. I have been trying hard to convince my family and friends against following mainstream media channels seriously, and although it's still tough, they're waking up to it.

Let's just hope this isn't the last of the Mediacrooks series. Modi winning the elections is just half the battle. These crooks will still keep up with their dirty tricks. We have exposed them. The war will truly be won once and for all when all the vile and vicious elements in the news media are purged completely. The danger is still out there in the media, and needs to be taken out once and for all.

  116. I watch crime patrol earnestly. Its the only TV program I watch on my laptop with my wife here in Sydney. We havent bought a TV purposely and dont watch any other TV shows. Crime Patrol I feel is so natural and so very close to heart of India and the crimes that plague us. It is so earthly and beautifully made. The other thing I love doing on the internet is read Mediacrooks religiously. So if I go by the above comments I am actually subscribing to the brainchild of the Iyer family. Hats off to you guys.
This blog should obviously continue as even after Modi becomes the PM, our job of helping this nation by exposing the media only intensifies further.

  117. Is Ravinar so naive in the manner so to speak that the hearts and minds of media persons is going to change overnight with Modi helming the nation? Bollocks.

Read Sheila Bhatt's article on Modi. She now has a new slant - 'immediate' development results or she will crucify Modi. How good is that?

In any case it's a free country and Ravinar can choose to hang his boots (prematurely). The Media needs a policeman and Ravinar is the anointed one.

    Best regards,

  119. My brother recommend 'Mediacrooks' to me to know the true colours of media channels, especially, engilsh media. Since then I have not missed a single article of yours. While reading your articles, sometime I became emotional thinking what would be the future of Indians/India if these 'mediacrooks' had the last laugh.Fortunately, majority of Indians have chosen the right person at the right time. One more tenure of UPA-III would have definitely destroyed India. You have enlightened us all these days through your dignified and mature articles. Every day I was watching these Crooks without knowing their true intentions. Thanks a lot for exposing the darker sides of these crooks.. At the same time,I request you to continue writing as their is every danger of 'Mediacrooks' trying to tarnish Modi Govt. day in & day out. I believe BJP is the only party which has internal democracy.Modi is a shining example of this. A chaiwalla becoming the PRIME MINISTER of this Great Nation. No other party could dare dream of it.Leave alone CONgress! Thanks once again, please donot call it quits!

  128. Ravinar... Few months ago I didn't even know someone like you existed and didn't have a twitter account. One of my colleagues who was active on twitter told about you whenever we had discussions about politics during our lunch breaks in office. My knowledge about politics was only from Hindu and News channels ..ndtv..CNN inn. That was when my friend bought the book written by you and gave it to me.He just told me to read that with open mind. After that I realised what sort of hypocrites MSM were. The best thing about your book "social media as watchdog" was you had the comments of TV journalists so organized that nobody can have a second thought. Hats off to you. Educated people like me could still have a wrong opinion or rather an opinion influnenced by MSM if it wasn't for people like you. Thanks again for your blog and really awesome articles.

  130. Who is this Owassi from Hyderabad? An SOB? Meaning son of the blessed!!!!
In today‘s evening ‘Times Now’ programme (2228 hrs), this fellow airs out fanatic views. The problems of India emanate from the utterances of such blessed few who have no sense to differentiate between the right and wrong?
In a country cursed with too much of population, we have to be patient with the kind of lunatics like owassis who have the guarantee of the Constitution to air out filth, and it becomes stronger when they belong to the community of Kurshid who has no knowledge of meanings of words that are imported in our day today life and added to the dictionary.
A man who has no source of knowledge (according to me) was the Minister of external Affairs of the country, for he probably knew not the spelling of his Ministry. No doubt, he has to ask for a replacement to the word 'Impotent'. If one were to be potent enough in politics, one would have glorified oneself to the lime light in one way or the other like the Tiwari" or the lals of Moti!!.
If low libido were his problem in his whole personality even in the context of his much taunted rhetoric, Allah the Great should have harnessed his short comings. Libido is different and knowledge is different. I would never go to a TV programme and ask the public to suggest a replacement word. I nauseate listening to such utterences of characters that are imposed on us Indians.
    You may judge Owassis.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Ravinar,

these are not dead characters. In fact they deserve some kind of Memorial.
No! Not for misleading the nation. But for the great disservice they did to their master, i.e. the INC in two ways.
    1. Giving hugeeeeee coverage to Modi (as Modi himself indicated in Ahemadabad speech today, though in different perspective)
    2. They had spent huge energies to obscure truth from general public. Whereas they actually ended up obscuring the ground reality from ruling establishment.

The lesson for Media is ill-intentions will never pay off.

If you are discontinuing the blog, there will be a vacuum felt at 5.05AM of each morning. There is every possibility(actually it has started even before swearing in of NAMO) to denigrate the new government in every possible manner(one print media group from south known for its deep prejudices is exulting that Obama has not yet congratulated NAMO!.www.Mediacrooks.com is still very much relevant.. 157. Like many people, I was also worried that Congress may alter the result by manipulating the EVMs. It is apparent that the Congress was too scared to touch the EVMs in view of the Tsunami-like Modi wave.
In spite of all what has happened, the first thing what the new government has to do is to abolish the EVMs altogether, so that in future no party will have a chance of altering the vote.
Another thing to be said in the EVM context is that the BJP as a party is complacent on many issues and is not aggressive and evil (I am not suggesting evil ways to the BJP) as the Congress party. They had all the time to force the government to do away with EVMs but they have failed. Maybe like many of us Indians, they too have succumbed to the Karmic theory.
Never again another party will be in a position to change the constitution, as is possible for the NDA dispensation now. They have nearly two-thirds majority in the parliament and they can attempt some changes in the constitution, which are badly needed. It goes without saying that they have to be very very cautious and involve as many parties as possible in the deliberations. At least for some time, we will not be burdened with the vote bank politics.

  158. I am being itching as to whether you got a job with the new "era" govt. to work on similar lines ( .. something like Phase-II) but now from inside, as NAMO & team may also have noticed your SM presence. If you are on such a job then we'll get the world media view on India - biases and misreporting etc., then probably the job will be more stringent. Just thinking .... anyway ...All the best...

    1. Dear Ashley1888,

      1) The terrorists could still strike in next 4 days to nullify NAMO as last ditch effort. Hence I will not take a sigh of relief till NAMO takes oath,

      2) RSS is not "You" its "We" so no need to thank ourselves,

      3) If he is indeed quitting, hopefully Ravinar would soon arrive in a new avatar such as a television channel or editor of a new paper. Heera kahi bhi rahe chakata zaroor hai. World rests on hope !!!

  171. You got your logic always in right place and my hearty thanks to your efforts in exposing MSM in India.
You people contributed a lot for this good change in India now.
BTW I disagree with your statement "Its the death of their character and conscience.".
My question - do these people have character and conscience ever?
I am not hopeful about this. :)

BTW thanks again for being a light tower for us.

  176. Ravi, you were our reassuring voice in this period of darkness in which lies were being perpetrated with such high intensity. You alone held the candle of hope for people like us for whom it seemed like nothing is going to work, no matter how right it was. The weight of the evil was so prepondering. Now I see the tones change - Barkha, RS, SG, Rahul Kanwal and the likes. I wish them good sense......Again thanking you from the bottom of heart. May you have a long life continue to write for us

  178. Dear Ravinar, your blog was like a candle in the utter darkness that surrounded us. Its beautiful flame gave many people like me hope when we were being inundated by the lies of our media.

This is time for great celebration. Victory of good over evil! Of truth over lies! Thanks for all the great work that you have done and may God bless you!!

    Warm Regards,
    Raghu

  180. Congrats MC.... May be it is not needed for us to have you here at this point of time. And we are able to read the minds of the journalist. They are finally so happy that Mr. Modi is been elected and which we are not able to digest. Still I hope we will come back to you somewhere somehow.

  183. Dear Blogger,

You must've heard of 'Nindak Niyare Raakhiye'.
Please continue your journey as a constructive critic of the next Govt. and obviously the MSM too.
We won't get many chances like this, lets make the most of it.
Once India gets a hang of governance, it would take less pain in making ourselves choose better leaders.

    Regards,
    Virendra
