NEET & Test Frauds

Teenagers don’t think through all their decisions; most of it is impulsive, spontaneous, group-driven or emotional. So, they compress their feelings and experiences of a few years into very short or limited reactions and it can get more aggressive in a mob. Their frustration at being cheated at exams or love is far higher than a 40-year old man would feel at being passed on for promotion; some teens even commit suicide out of desperation. Thus, youth frustration at govt failures in exams or college fees or canteen fees or Reservations in education and jobs gets a far sharper response from the youth than it would get from a grown up person. The govt underestimated the youth anger over not just NEET but it was boiling over with joblessness, low-paying jobs, low opportunities and so on. The rosy picture that Narendra Modi often paints of India is just another of his grand FRAUDS of doing spectacularly well when India is still practically a 3^rd world country. The only reason developed nations mollycoddle Modi is because India is a huge market to dump their products.

The IRCTC has decent status indicators for tickets. It goes from Available to RAC to WL to Not Available to Regret. If a train has 1000 seats/berths, they might reserve 15% for Tatkal and maybe 5% for VIP/emergencies. At some point after WL they have to STOP booking because the chances of confirmation are zero. The actual journey might see encroachers in every coach but the system is not at fault, the implementation is. And that is the exact problem with NEET and other entrance FRAUDS. The system is not really at fault but crimes happen because of severe shortage and unmerited encroachers wanting to get in through the bathroom window:

Education in India, in general, is in shambles. All this nonsense of NEP2020 being some landmark policy or great leap into the future or great universities is the kind of Lipstick Modi peddles when the reality is far off. There are no “Entrance Tests” in India. They are basically a DECEPTIVE “Process of Elimination”. A process to weed out students that don’t fit into a course even by the WORST minimum standards set. As such, most of these entrance tests are also money-making frauds; NEET in particular. Modi and his corrupt govt spends more on doles, sustaining beggars, Revdis, bribes for women and farmers than it does on education and health:

The entrance tests like NEET, JEE, CUET are FRAUDS by govt rather than actually creating fair admissions for the merited. The cut-off marks in 12^th (40 to 50% based on caste) is not to let in the merited – It is to provide a bathroom window to the unmerited to get in by hook or crook and take chance through Reservations. In all these courses, India is still in the SHORTAGE situation. Whether its higher education courses or jobs, there are more applicants than the openings and seats available. And it is always in a “Shortage Market” that black-marketers, corruption-queens, paper-leaks, thieves and all the thugs of govt flourish. The worst calamity to fall on India is the mass boom of coaching classes that flourish due to the shortage of seats. Criminal enterprises flourish only in such a shortage domain. Even good students have to go to coaching classes because they not only have to win a race but also have to beat the quota junk. Here are some stats that simply look stupid when you look at the seats available: 

# NEET: Applicants – 22 lakhs. Nos that fail – 42%. No. of seats – 1.37 lakhs.

# JEE: Applicants – 13 lakhs. Nos that fail – 94%:  -  No of seats – 67000 

Given the severe shortage scenario, why should cut off  marks in 12^th for all the tests still be 40% to 50% - there is no logic behind it. Even regular colleges have raised their admission bar from about 70% to 80-90%. What will happen if all these FRAUDULENT entrance tests raise the 12^th score eligibility to, say, 70-80%? That will eliminate a large crowd from the entrance tests but, more importantly, it might also drastically reduce Quota Beggars who want to get in with 40-45%. That’s the covert fraud that the govt and the system bombs the merited with. Just go through this entire thread to understand how the NEET fraud is perpetrated by the GOI:

So, why was this NTA created as a “Registered Society” than as a PSU or agency through an Act of Parliament? That’s where the FRAUD of GOI starts that the media pimps ignore and the public remains mostly unaware. The CBSE, NBE (National Board of Exams) are subject to CAG audit. But the NTA is a “Society” so it is not subject to any CAG audit, so whatever scams they perpetrate is generally beyond the direct scrutiny of public and the taxpayer. How much money does the NTA make from NEET and other tests? A lot of its work is done by contracted workers and vendors – probably all the rolly-polly friends of BJP as in all other GOI contracts. Well, here’s a brief idea:

As explained, shortages always lead to various crimes, like black-marketing, bribes, paper-leaks and the menace of coaching classes. India has seen it all in cement, foodgrains, telephones, scooters and even perfumes. It is quite possible that most of the coaching classes are owned by relatives of politicians. There is no other reason to have such a vast population appearing for a test that has less than 5% seat availability. That’s like sellling 2 lakh tickets for a 180-seater aircraft. So, its not an entrance or admission test – It’s a FRAUD and a SCAM. Sure, students who may not do very well in 12^th need a second chance to pursue their life-goals but not to such an extent that they simply do not deserve or not up to the standard to pursue that course. 

Therefore, the entire FAKE ENTRANCE TEST scam is not really run as an “Admission qualification” test but to enable the ACADEMIC-JUNK to make an attempt to qualify. The consequence is more crimes and coaching nonsense. The top educational countries in the world don’t run coaching classes where parents send their kids from Class 4 or 5 to make them run a RAT-RACE. Most Western top educational countries have extra coaching within the school itself if required by some students. They are then measured for admissions by entrance-test scores, written assignments, sports achievements and prospects etc. There is a race but it’s not a rat-race like India. 

And as always, Modi comes up with his usual knee-jerk reactions like a new law to combat paper-leaks as if the current laws are not enough. Then he assembles a Task-force for exams headed by Nandan Nilekani with other prominent members. But they are just tasked with making the DELIVERY of the tests fool-proof and not with any REAL solutions; which is reducing the population of applicants for a very LOW number of seats. Unless you increase the 12^th cut-off marks for eligibility, all this nonsense is just lipstick and a waste of money:

The only other way to allow a large population take these tests is to run them more frequently. SAT runs their test every month for 7 months in a year. The GRE test is run round the year and you can take it any time and even from your home. All these tests are digitally run and supervised at designated test centres or digitally supervised (as in GRE) even at home. The physical need for a large population to go and take a test at the same date and time is invariably diseased with every chance of fraud and scam. Modi’s stupid new law only offers more punishment for paper-thefts but it does not solve the problem of the theft itself. Because these political fools are NOT addressing the source of the problem, they are just pretending to apply makeup and lipstick on the theft to pacify the public:

In case of Reservations, many OBCs are now doing better and that is a justifiable case for reducing quotas but for no reason quotas have gone up to 65-70%. Modi himself is not a very educated man and most of his ministers and BJP members are also not very educated or intelligent. Given all that has happened, it is evident that there is NO REAL REFORM in anything concerning education or entrance tests. So, don’t expect some miracle to happen. Frauds will continue to happen because the govt’s goal is NOT education – it is merely to get a chunk of the junk population into higher courses.

GOI Marriage Reformers

The common understanding of “Marriage” is that it’s a social union between two persons (so far man and woman in India). This is a union recognised by society and law. Marriage entails living a life together, procreation and economic continuity and progress. There are legal aspects that are determined by a marriage such as descendants, inheritance, divorce etc. In his I-Day speech in 2020, PM Narendra Modi talked about marriage age with the statement: "This government is constantly concerned about the health of daughters and sisters. To save the daughters from malnutrition, it is necessary that they're married at the right age."

Consequent to Modi’s declaration a Task Force (TF) was set up headed by Jaya Jaitly to decide the “right age” for marriage. When the PM had already decided the govt planned to raise the marriage for women from 18 to 21 there was no need for a bogus Task Force which was meant to echo his views and carry out his agenda. I have read reports on Jaya Jaitly’s comments on the Task Force’s work and findings but nowhere does it define what the “right age” is. I have also not read why 21 becomes the “right age” instead of 18.

There is some logic in the argument that very young marriages tend to fail as the partners may lack the maturity for a responsible married life. There’s no better example than Modi’s marriage itself. However, Indian marriages have lasted better than Western marriages as marriage is also seen as integration of families rather than just two individuals. Modi’s logic of saving girls from malnutrition is also empty blabber. There is no reason to believe girls will not suffer malnutrition after 21. The only argument for fixing an age for marriage can be biological and mental maturity. That would have to be backed by scientific and psychological evidence but I doubt the TF relied on any such evidence. But the TF claims “Gender Parity” as the main reason for raising the age to 21:

The TF claims to have taken feedback from 16 universities on raising the girl’s age for marriage. Therefore, I don’t think there is any “scientific investment” by the TF for increasing the age. Let me state clearly, I do not have any objection to raising the age. In fact, most modern-day marriages of educated persons happen around age 25-28. So, the mere law doesn’t make much of a difference to anyone EXCEPT those who still practice child-marriage. Most of the child marriages happen among Muslims and in Hindus among the SC/ST and OBC/Dalit groups. The question, therefore, is not a law but education that is most required to change marriage patterns. Child marriages have steadily come down in India over decades and is now around 27% and most of it happens in the Tribal, Dalit and Muslim communities:

The argument of “gender parity” for raising the girl’s age to 21 is nothing but total nonsense. Girls are legally allowed to be employed at age 14 (just like boys), except for certain work of hazardous nature. Women get rebates in Income Tax so gender parity as an argument is foolish. In the Railways, male senior citizens have to be age 60 but women are treated as senior citizens at age 45. So, where the hell does gender parity go in all these situations? Mind you, I am in favour of all these benefits to women but the argument of “Gender Parity” cannot be selectively used for marriage. Why not lower the age of males to marry at 18? That too would bring gender parity for argument’s sake.

Age is not the biggest problem in Indian marriages. It is the interpretation of laws, personal laws, social situations that defeats the purpose of any uniform law. Although there is a Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, courts have frequently ruled that child marriages are not automatically void. That a partner should seek to void the marriage on reaching age 18 and nor is child marriage treated as a serious offence:

The matter becomes even more complex when Muslims refuse to accept Indian laws on marriage but prefer to stick to their Sharia or Personal Laws. Many courts have repeatedly ruled in favour of Muslim marriages at 15 and legitimized such marriages. So, there is no reason to believe that a new law will change anything. Although the law is yet to be made and come into force, one has to wait and see if the law makes it mandatory for all and courts too accept that has the final say on marriage age. Given the objections it is fair to assume there may be some PILs challenging the law and ModiSarkar is on “Withdrawal Symptoms” mode. In cases of Tribal marriages, the courts have refused to administer Hindu Marriage Act but cited Constitutional provisions and have legalized Muslim marriages at age 15:

Last year, Tribal groups in Karnataka demanded that their marriage age be reduced to 16 for girls and 18 for boys. Regardless of any laws, child marriages continue and will continue among many communities. Modi’s idea of saving women from “malnutrition” and hence raising the marriage age is illogical. Equally illogical is the TF argument of “gender parity” because gender disparity is now deep-rooted in politics and laws. Ask political parties to give equal number of tickets to men and women for elections they will turn a deaf ear. In other words, what is good for you to practice is evil for political parties to practice.

Another dumb argument put forth by the TF and the usual coolies of Modi and BJP is that raising the girl’s age to 21 will enable her to continue studies and seek a professional career. How stupid can they get? Most education drop-out happens in schools much before the age of 16 due to multiple reasons – lack of academic interest, exam failure, economic condition of the family needing the youngster to work or no further opportunities in the area. There is absolutely no logic in assuming that all women get married when they get to 18. That child marriage is reducing but continues in some communities is a SPECIFIC problem. Instead of addressing the specific problem the GOI wants to treat marriage age as a “pandemic” affecting all communities. This is the fallacy that embellishes the proposed new law.

To a majority of Indians, the new law will not make any difference as most girls today are not getting married at 18. Some marriages also become inevitable due to pregnancy. If a girl gets pregnant at 16 or 17, it makes sense for the biological father to marry her and accept responsibility. Sex with minors is a crime in India but folks don’t read the law to get into a relationship or have sex. Crimes do happen and, often, out of mutual consent in a young relationship.

The biggest problem with the proposed law is not the age itself. It is that it lacks any scientific or psychological evidence or backup to determine what is a “right age” to get married. The Task Force is not entirely a scientific body nor does it rely on scientific research to establish its findings. All it does to execute Modi’s already made public declaration and back it by some feedback and opinions. No one can really determine what is a “right age” for marriage. Only data of failed and successful marriages can establish a pattern.
