Killing Merit, Killing India

In the movie “Forrest Gump” the village idiot played by Tom Hanks gets into many situations and testing challenges. He consistently comes out on top by luck or by sheer persistence and also gets rich. He was also drafted into the military and sent off to Vietnam in 1967 where too he accidently demonstrates bravery by saving his leader Lt. Dan Taylor. For all his heroics Gump gets many medals and becomes a national hero. Gump is once invited to a TT tournament in China where he excels. He is once invited to a TV interview by the famous host Dick Cavett and appearing alongside Gump is the legendary John Lennon (Video: 1.00 min):

When asked about China, Gump says “In the land of China, people hardly got nothing at all”. Lennon throws in a question “No possessions?”. Every question and statement by Lennon is a line inserted from his famous song “Imagine”. Gump adds “In China, they never go to church”. There are many such scenes in the movie where Gump appears in famous images and videos from the past. The actual interview was with John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono in September 1971. Gump replaces Ono through film-editing techniques. All such scenes in the movie look very real as if they were real events. Such is the level of talent and skill that Hollywood had reached in film editing, modifying and digital enhancements. Audiences naturally feel a sense of “wow” when they see all the special effects from Hollywood.

But keep that aside for a moment. What Gump says about China tells you how poor China was in 1971. China was nearly as poor as India in 1971 or probably worse. In 1980, India had a per capita GDP higher than that of China because of a lower population when the GDPs were almost similar. These numbers remained almost parallel till China took giant leaps of growth after 1991 and left India far behind in its dramatic growth and development:

China grew to 17 Tn in 2023 while India is stuck at 3.55 Tn in 2023. What is the reason? Firstly, in 1972 the US President Richard Nixon visited China and re-opened the gates to them after a long boycott. Diplomatic relations followed and so did US investments. India languished in its CommiePigs and Doles govts as if that would ever bring growth or eliminate poverty. Secondly, as China gathered momentum with some help, they realised the Commie systems don’t work in economics and growth. That everyone may be equal under law but everyone wasn’t born equal in talent. So, since 1991, the Chinese dramatically shifted their focus to what came to be called “MERITOCRACY” rather than promoting everyone as equals in the CommiePigs system. Whether it was education, selection of govt officials or even selection of the Communist Party’s leaders, MERIT became the most important measure. Thus, China’s education, skill-levels, sports and performance grew dramatically and so too their mass-production of various items and exports.

India too had to make a lot of reforms and open up markets since 1991. But this was done under severe compulsions as the country was facing a dire economic crisis with gold and foreign exchange reserves running out. And though the 1991 reforms brought in some dramatic changes, they were never sustained with human-policies that would take the nation followed. The nonsense of Mandal, Reservations, Muslim appeasement all continued in various forms killing India slowly but surely. Merited and talented Indians did not have much of a place in the economic and social systems of India.

We talked about Hollywood’s digital effects and special effects. Much of it started with the innovations of George Lucas from “Star Wars” of 1977. Since then, they have reached staggering heights. Then came PCs, more technology, more software etc. The Americans didn’t hold back all the technology from the world except some critical ones. Everyone had computers, mobile phones, internet. But by this time the culture of merit, performance and respect for talent had seeped deep into the American way of life. It became second-nature to them. In the Manhattan Project that produced the nuclear bomb, 31 different scientists were used from different parts of the “allies world”. In 1962, John F Kennedy hosted a dinner to honour the Nobel winning scientists at the White House:

India kept degenerating as a country where merit mattered the least and the most merited and talented ones suffered from discrimination and Reservations. The situation has been the worst under the merit-hating, casteist-CommiePig govt of PM Narendra Modi. This is a recipe for disaster. Modi himself hates merit and talent and surrounds himself with duffers worse than him. His Cabinet has duffers like NirmalaS, Kirren Rijiju, Amit Shah or Chirag Paswan, Anurag Thakur etc. They are there either because of their caste or because they are dumber than Modi or outright bootlickers and coolies. To run an entire country by sheer caste and religion considerations is the biggest crime Modi has committed.

The contempt for talent and merit will further drive India to a hell-hole of problems. The “Reserved” OBCs/STs/SCs or the Muslim darlings of Modi ARE NOT GOING TO SOLVE any problem for India nor make it futuristic. They are there for survival and earning money for themselves and their families. They don’t have the notion of country going anywhere. They are not equipped for it. Whatever growth India has had, whatever infrastructure that Modi grandly brags about and whatever GDP he brags about are mostly INCREMENTAL in nature. There is nothing spectacular in any of India’s achievements. Modi’s nonsensical bragging about development would put Goebbels to shame.

Modi is a natural born liar and has lied throughout his life and career. Not one sentence the man speaks holds any truth. But because he cannot impress you with brilliance, he has to dazzle you with filmy bullshit like this and he has been doing so for years deceiving Indians, particularly many brainless Hindus who actually think he’s a Hindu when he is not. He runs to temples for elections but runs off to bore Jawans during Diwali with his fancy dresses and moronic behaviour. This year he went to bore the BSF and other groups in the Sir Creek region of Kutch and posed like a true idiot in army fatigues pretending to be Tom Cruise or Amitabh Bachchan in “Agneepath”:

People are not fooled by Modi’s filmy nonsense anymore and mock him. But Modi has no stake in India or her future. He just wants to remain PM till his death because he has no other life to live. If at all he has to retire or quit the PMO, his life will be a miserable hell. He is too used to the luxury and trappings of office of a village idiot to get go of it all. He is only “surviving”. Elsewhere, the ISRO Chief Somnath was all admiration for how a private enterprise of that of Elon Musk was doing such great things in space exploration and even catching a booster returning to earth with technology. Musk is a South African who migrated to the US. Had he remained in South Africa, he wouldn’t have probably achieved all that he has. That is true for the merited in India. America has become a place which provides platforms for the talented, merited and the daring entrepreneurs:

Elon Musk stated that though he has patents, anyone is welcome to copy his enterprise and replicate their achievements. Merited people are never scared of competition or being outshined. They thrive better with competition. Today, Musk’s SpaceX is undertaking more missions than NASA and the US govt and NASA also rely on SpaceX to invent and innovate more in space exploration and satellite business. This year, an Indian-origin kid, Sishir Subhash, won the young scientist award in the US. Last year, in the same contest, six Indian-origin kids were in the finals. Their parents had to migrate. All of them upper-caste Hindu kids. No Reserved ones and no Thookiyas. That’s how India loses talent and merit and will continue to do so:

Although ISRO produces some good outcomes and puts India in an exclusive Space Club, their achievements are because there are no Reservations in ISRO recruitments in its CORE BRANCHES. ISRO and DRDO have Reservations only in Non-Core branches, like civil works, electrical works or some clerical work. The Indian military doesn’t have Reservations either but it was sneaked in through the back door with the Agniveer system.

There are certain races or communities in the world that are naturally gifted in certain pursuits. The Irish dominate the political, science and legal landscape of US. The Afro-Americans have always been gifted in music and sports. The Jews dominate economics, politics and Hollywood. The Hindu UC too is spectacularly gifted in cerebral and scientific pursuits. Modi has extreme contempt for such Hindus. So much that Thookiya Modi celebrates Turkey and its Islamic agenda while the White House celebrates the Hindu festival of Diwali during the same week. This should tell you why Hindu merit is being killed and so is India:

The US has long recognised that talent and merit are the two things that build a country. This is true for the rise of China also. This is also true for smaller countries like Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore that dominate world platforms one way or another. The rise of China is entirely due to its recognition of meritocracy as a national policy and, of course, with a lot of help from the US and other countries because China has become the “Global manufacturer” for everyone. It is not just economy or wealth. Most of these countries do well in multiple domains – Economics, Sports, Arts, Culture. Their citizens have passports recognised for free entry by all major desirable destinations. India’s passport is most unwelcome in such countries except for some 5^th world countries.

GDP is not the only measure of a country because it doesn’t tell the life-story of a country. And India’s GDP has grown incrementally and there is no grand magic to it. These are telling signs why India is such a failed country because of its CommiePigs govt. Modi’s bogus claims of development are now being mocked with such videos along with his LIES of how foreigners come to India and are surprised at the development he has created here in the last 10 years. I have not seen any foreigner expressing such shocking wonder. It is LAUGHABLE to say the least. When foreign dignitaries do come in herds as they did for G-20, Modi covers up the garbage in green-cloth. (Video – 45 secs):

India was always bad for the merited but Modi has made it unlivable for them in the last ten years. They will continue to migrate to other countries that provide them the platform to perform and succeed. Modi is not only killing merit and the merited, he is slowly poisoning India and killing India with his casteist policies and worthless doles and appeasement. And then promises nonsense of Amrit Kaal in 2047 or a 1000-year grand vision. He has all the vision of a senile Bat caught in bright daylight at Kutch wearing sunglasses.

Media Space Oddities

“Space Oddity” is a song by the late David Bowie released on July 11, 1969. A few days later, the Apollo 11 astronauts would land on the moon. Bowie released the song three times from 1969 to 1975 and each time it was a chart-hit. The song was supposedly meant to be a taunt to the British establishment on not coming up with a manned-mission to space with the fictional astronaut “Major Tom” getting stuck in his “Tin Can” (Spacecraft) watching the earth and losing contact with ground-control. There is no human being on earth who hasn’t marveled at the moon and stars in the sky and wondered what’s going on as a child. The intense quest of mankind to seek answers to mysteries of the universe drives space-science, like many other domains in science. In dealing with what is still somewhat unknown, there can be many risks, hiccups and setbacks and also a good deal of success.

The US has had many setbacks to its space program. Way back in 1960 when NASA launched the MR-1 Spacecraft it behaved in a most peculiar way. At liftoff, the rocket lifted 4 inches and then pulled back and flopped on the launchpad. And then suddenly, the MR’s escape rocket jettisoned from the spacecraft, rose about 4000 feet and fell 400 yards away. Perplexed NASA engineers called it the “Four-inch flight”. Years later, the US would have the tragic experience of the Challenger Shuttle in 1986 exploding just 70 seconds after take-off. The world watched it in horror on Live TV. Again in 2003, the Columbia Shuttle exploded on re-entry. This shuttle included India’s Kalpana Chawla. Space exploration, adventure and discoveries are fraught with risks and it takes courageous astronauts who take those risks for the whole mankind. Similarly, our scientists at ISRO undertake missions and the associated risks for the whole country and for mankind.

The abrupt loss of contact with the latest space mission Chandrayaan-2 and the Vikram Lander (VL) renders part of a mission incomplete. It is not a failure by any measure. The Moon-Orbiter, part of the mission, is still in place. Of course, the VL not accomplishing the final landing disappoints all Indians (except the usual hatemongers among Sickulars). Through the disappointment ISRO Chief K. Sivan, his entire team along with PM Narendra Modi showed extraordinary poise, calm and strength of character. Something that the whole of India should be proud of. What we cannot be proud of is the manner in which some sections of our news-media handle such space missions and related issues. To use the word “stupid” wouldn’t be enough to describe them.

At 72, modern-day India is now a mature country. We shouldn’t be getting excessively jingoistic about our space or military adventures. And we shouldn’t be getting virally jubilant in our successes or extremely distressed in our unsuccessful ventures. A super-power takes both in its stride. We understand the men and women who toil hard and often pay a heavy price for the missions they undertake for the country. Mature moderation should be the approach in all such missions. However, the stupid Jingos of the media never seem to learn. The main criminals in excessive Jingoism are Republic TV and Timesnow. The moronic jumping up and down like clowns claiming “India will be the first”, “India first on the dark side of the moon”, “India creates history” – all of these more than 36 hours before the final descent of the VL:

And the worst part is that most of this stupid Jingo-dancing comes from the most uneducated journos when it comes to any kind of “science”. Creating excessive hype over an event doubles the disappointment when it doesn’t go according to plan. I can forgive a fair amount of excitement over the VL event but idiots from Republic, Timesnow and other channels were going around hunting for people, especially school-kids, for soundbites on it. For all its worth, half the population of this country wouldn’t have heard of VL till the final moments when it lost contact with ground-control and thus unsuccessful. And then these stupid channels get their worst journos to report on the event, ask for soundbites from the ISRO Chief. The kind of questions they ask simply insults the intelligence of even a poorly educated man where science is concerned. Here’s one such Jingo-girl from Republic:

 

I wonder what last minute precautions Prasanna was expecting ISRO to undertake. Is this some wedding where if the groom doesn’t turn up you quickly find a replacement? I don’t wish to single her out because I am sure there are many like her that I may not have had the chance to watch accidentally that have asked such stupid questions. The VL is an unmanned mission and if you think Prasanna is silly, then you haven’t seen anything yet. This guy, Pallava Bagla (Of NDTV – from where else?) takes stupidity beyond limits in his chat with Dr. K Sivan (Video: 25 secs):

Bagla wants to know how many astronauts are flying in the Chandrayaan mission. This moron is the “Science reporter” at NDTV. To go to chat with a highly ranked specialist with the ignorance that “Unmanned” missions mean no human is involved would take extraordinary depths of dumbness. Journos are not very bright people but this beats even the dumbest of the lot. After the event, when VL lost contact, ISRO called off the schedule press conference because of the situation. However, one Dr. Karnik made an impromptu announcement for the press in general. Once again, this jerk Bagla behaved badly and was screaming at Karnik on why the ISRO Chief is not addressing the press. Such uncouth morons shouldn’t be at events in the first place because they are disconnected from situations and realities. Bagla later apologised to Karnik in a couple of tweets, so we can probably let the incident pass. However, there are bigger morons from across the seas who want to defend his boorish behaviour. The exceptional moron that Sadanand Dhume is, he claims it’s the right of journos to ask such questions:

Journos, and part-time crap-peddlers like Dhume, should learn that they cannot choose who should address them. Dr. Karnik is quite a senior officer in ISRO. Journos are also entitled to ask questions but are not entitled to indecent behaviour. Journos should also never forget that while they are entitled to ask questions, the person they are asking the question to has all the right to refuse an answer or say “No comment”. Nobody is obligated to answer questions by journos. Their right is limited to asking, they have no right to enforce answers. Even cops in criminal cases have no right to enforce answers from a suspect.

Space missions can bring great successes and can also bring great tragedies like the Challenger or Columbia. India hasn’t faced any such tragedy and is progressing steadily and cautiously. Scientists devote a whole life to great missions like Chandrayaan, journos devote a few minutes for their stupid instant orgasm for a few soundbites or for bad news. In the entire post-VL situation, Dr. K Sivan, his entire team and PM Modi showed extraordinary “Calm under fire”. This is a talent; it cannot be transferred. I explained how this talent saves lives in the post “Miracle at Gandhi Maidan” and how “Character” doesn’t develop in a crisis but merely reveals itself. Journos neither have this talent nor the character in dealing with science and scientists.

In the famous Apollo-13 incident, three astronauts had to abort their mission because of an explosion in an oxygen tank. Their lives were in danger. It was up to Flight Director Gene Kranz to guide them and bring them back home safely. Kranz was also the Flight Director for Apollo-11 which landed the first humans on the moon. The entire NASA team managed the safe return of the astronauts. On his return, the Commander of the aborted Apollo-13 mission, Jim Lovell, was asked about the mission and he remarked: “It was a successful failure”:

VL and Chandrayaan too fall in that category. They are not failures by any measure but just left a mission incomplete to be undertaken again and completed in the future. There are no failures in scientific adventures and quests. Scientists cannot and should not be ridiculed for adverse outcomes. If scientists quit, there would have been no Polio vaccine. After all, Thomas Edison had to try hundreds of times to make the electric bulb and was still unsuccessful. When he did finally manage it, he famously said - "I have not failed 1,000 times, I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb." And this, when Edison’s invention of the light-bulb itself is disputed. Never mind that.

We may not break out in a dance on our space successes but we definitely should stand with our scientists when they confront adverse situations. Those who ridicule or mock them are simply the scum of the earth who survive on the work of the very scientist-community on which their miserable lives exist. One hopes the media space oddities show greater maturity and respect the next time around.
