NaMo's Victory - Media's Amazing Disgrace

No matter how good the map of a place and how good a map-reader one is, it’s not the same as being there. This is worse if you have the wrong map or a subjective map. What would you expect of me if I told you I am travelling to Rajasthan but only had the map of a spot in Ajmer? What would you expect of me if I told you I am travelling to Karnataka but only had the map of Cottonpet in Bangalore? Yeah, you’re right! I would probably describe Rajasthan a place full of Dargahs which Ajmer is famous for and Karnataka a place full of Muslim ghettos which Cottonpet is. So when Barkha Dutt travelled to Gujarat all she had was a map of Juhapura in Ahmedabad. Sagarika Ghose travelled to Gujarat too but all she had in her map of the ‘golden corridor’ from Ahmedabad to Surat were Muslim localities. So their stories had nothing but Muslims and their supposed sufferings. Their stories were not about Gujarat. As Stephen Covey puts it in ‘7 Habits’: “Individuals may look at their own lives in terms of paradigms or maps emerging out of their experience and conditioning, these maps are not the territory. They are a ‘subjective reality’, only an attempt to describe the territory”. This is the reason most media celebs fail to read Gujarat.

Even Rajdeep Sardesai, who claims to be born in Ahmedabad, sees mutual fund hoardings dominating the streets in Ahmedabad. This is a lie. He sees what he wants to see and not reality. To my surprise the only media person to have really travelled across various parts of Gujarat and learned about the state and its people is Shekhar Gupta. Surprise, considering his main interest appears to be real estate in NCR. The fact that Gupta travelled widely comes across quite well in his last few articles about Gujarat and also his statements on TV on December 20 during discussions of the election results. Apart from roads, power and other experiences Gupta narrates the story of a widowed woman farmer, Kamalaben, around the Godhra area who is doing splendidly well on her own. She has managed irrigation, gets power, is an expert on cricket like all of us and catches up with the world on her TV. And she’s a traditional Congress supporter who acknowledges Narendra Modi’s work and may have voted differently this time. This is the ‘experience’ I narrated in ‘Gujarat – Breaking rules’; here’s an excerpt:

These people are reading newspapers… They are reading poll analysis… You know, like the ones by Rajdeep Sardesai, Yogendra Yadav, Prannoy Roy or India Today and many other pundits. They are also analysing the GDP figures of all the states, poverty figures of all states…. They sit around and analyse all the figures, manifestos, claims and other stuff put out by the govt and media before they decide who to vote for. No? Well, all that stuff is good for debates and policy making. Ordinary people know it in their gut. Whether the economy is good or bad, they know it in their gut. The same “experience” that draws them back to a restaurant or airline also draws them to a politician or makes them reject him. People feel good at visible development and experience it but they also vote based on the intangible, non-visible experience. The more connected a politician is the better the experience. Narendra Modi knows to connect.

Kamalaben, unlike Rahul Gandhi’s Kalawati, has a different experience. She feels development in her ‘gut’. Narendra Modi connects with her. So, on December 20 when the Gujarat election results started pouring in our TV panellists and anchors weren’t surprised but were hoping Modi’s run would somehow be dented with a lower-margin victory. Collectively, most channels and panellists put up the most pathetic display of their lives in election analysis. The few exceptions were the saving grace. Be it NDTV, CNN-IBN, Times Now, Headlines Today, ABPNews or any other Delhi channel. They simply disgraced themselves. Leading the disgrace, of course, was Barkha Dutt. As results started pouring in and early signs were slow for BJP she remarked “Modi is down but not out”. That is not analysis; that is hope in disguise. Hope that Modi would sink. And she had nothing but more queries for her guests on Muslims in Gujarat.

All the usual suspects were there. Yogendra Yadav was there too. He is still toying with his ‘idea of India’. Yadav and RahulG are similar. Yadav is inventing the ‘idea’ of India and RahulG has ‘no idea’ of India. And all the morons who pass off as anchors had very common questions. They wondered if Modi had built a ‘personality cult’. Umm… let’s see! Barkha, Arnab, Rajdeep (the lowest BAR in Indian TV journalism) woke up early in the morning.  They did their Agarbattis or Namaz and rushed to the studio. They hogged their TV channels from around 7am till 10pm in the night as if no one else exists in their channel. Rajdeep only let up for moments when his Dubiousity Editor, the Social Genius, filled in. And these morons are worried about personality cult? After having made their own channels a pathetic reflection of their pathetic personality, can they even ask this question about anyone on earth? They should listen to Michael Jackson’s “Man in the mirror” at least once a day and once before going to bed. And they all had the usual spinners, from Shabnam Hashmi, Swaminathan Aiyar right down to the Modi-infatuated Aakar Patel. Lately, with the Delhi Gangrape incident some are talking about ‘Chemical Castration’ of rapists. Maybe Aakar Patel could do with a similar chemical castration of his head for excessive obsession with one man.
 

Did we hear Gang-rape? Then we must be in Delhi. From the Shabbos to the Sonias, there is hardly any opponent of Modi who hasn’t wailed about the condition of women in Gujarat. A UN observer might hear them and imagine Gujarat is the worst place on earth for women. And yet, the most atrocities on women come from right under the noses of the GOI and Delhi govt headed by women. It’s on Barkha’s NDTV show that the Imam Bukhari called Shabana Azmi a “naachne waali, gaane wali” woman. A Congress moron, Sanjay Nirupam, repeated a similar offence by calling Smriti Irani a woman who “wiggled her body on TV for money” (translation from Hindi) on ABPNews on Dec.20. It was NDTV who refused to name and shame the Delhi politician who treated their reporter, Sunetra Chaudhary, to sexual innuendos. Take a look at the pic. It has people protesting the horrible gang-rape and near murder of a woman. How many such scenes have you seen from Gujarat? Then the police water-cannons protesters! How many such scenes have you seen from Gujarat? And there’s a small crowd celebrating Modi’s victory which is so offensive to his political and media opponents. The height of media hypocrisy is accepting a man who was indulging in sex in his office chambers in a court complex. The Congress may condone Abhishek Singhvi’s nonsense but is the media obliged to accept him as their guest? In all this, there hasn’t been one word from the Prime Minister on the Delhi rape incident.

Oh hell! Did we say Prime Minister? Now that’s a permanent obsession with our media, isn’t it? Modi is performing or doing things not because they deserve being done but he has PM ambitions. So, like I said in the post about ‘Breaking rules’, the media celebs go around asking every idiot they can find if Modi is fit to be PM. Barkha even drops her Congress garb and invokes the inclusive nature of ABVajpayee to make a point about Modi not being good enough for PM. Not everyone in India is obsessed with whether Modi becomes PM or not. But seriously, these discussions are being held when the PM of the country is a man who has never won a public election. Manmohan Singh is being called a puppet, a poodle and many names. I suppose in the eyes of our media MMS fits the bill as PM for the sole reason that he has no spine. In the context of MMS being “appointed” a PM it is even shameful for these media celebs to be discussing anyone else’s worthiness as PM candidate. Doesn’t matter!

When Mayawati won an election 5 years ago and later Obama won the presidency in the US, our media fanatics were quick to declare she could be the first Dalit PM in India. Not a bad thought but where is Mayawati now? Counting her elephants? So who fits the bill? Rahul Gandhi? The man who knows nothing about India? P. Chidambaram, the media’s darling? The man whose last election is in dispute in a court? AK Antony who, as Defence Minister, has the army in conflict with govt? Why so much worry and distress over who the opposition party’s PM candidate is when they can live with a poodle for a PM? The question of whether Modi is fit to be PM is not so much a question about Modi. It is the fears that lurk inside the media of having a PM who doesn’t give a damn about the media. Modi did not spend a single soiled rupee on the MSM-TV of Delhi in his election campaign. That’s a first in India. The unholy trinity of media can’t find the courage or honesty to admit that a NaMo is any day better as a PM than the trio of Sonia-Rahul-MMS. A trio who can’t string together one sentence without someone helping with them with a script. Sonia even reads her Hindi speeches from Roman scripts. Oh! Did you say Hindi?
 

There! Now the chronic LIARS like Barkha, Sagarika, Rajdeep and their mafia even have a problem with NaMo speaking in Hindi. Whoa! So when Modi addressed his supporters on December 20 in Hindi these bimbos were up in arms suggesting his choice of Hindi meant PM ambitions and he was “addressing Delhi”.  They joined the rank of Idionaire Renuka Chaudhary who asked the same question. Not only are these Idionaires, the new term for idiotic millionaires, chronic liars they are even pathetic at their deception. Well? What did he speak in? Italian? Modi has a history of often speaking in Hindi when he speaks in Ahmedabad. It is also probably because Modi knows that when he speaks in Ahmedabad there’s more national media focus at all times. Now what’s so new about that? Did our media morons forget the Sadbhavna Mission in September 2011? Here’s Modi’s speech on Youtube at the Sadbhavna gathering. Again, what language did he speak in? The language of deception that Barkha and Sagarika use? So what was special about his victory speech on December 20 in Hindi? Nothing! But as with all the other lies about Modi, our media just invented one more.

The media, like Modi’s political opponents, wanted him to lose. Didn’t happen! Sorry, buy yourself another beer at Congress’ expense. Nobody described the media’s feeling than their darling Chidambaram himself. Like a clown he said “we have restricted Modi to under 117 so it’s a Congress victory”. Well, the media would have liked a result even better but the Gujjus didn’t oblige. Two strong NDTV features, Shekhar Gupta and Dushyant Dave, finally accepted that there is a big difference in the way Gujarat is managed and that Narendra Modi does make a difference to the state’s governance. In the end Barkha, Rajdeep and his Dubiousity Editor (She’s funnily designated as Deputy editor) maybe the only ones living in permanent hatred, prejudice and bigotry. Their hatred runs so deep that they let their hatred for Modi get transferred to Gujarat and Gujjus even.

Christians say grace before every meal or thanksgiving. It’s a good practice to thank the Lord for what he gives. They also use the poem ‘Amazing grace’ containing a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of sins committed for funerals of the dearly departed. That even dead people receive God’s mercy and forgiveness. For some of the criminals in our media whose integrity and conscience is dead I doubt a poem of grace can be written. If they don’t change, someone someday may write the song ‘Amazing Disgrace’ in dishonour of their deeds.  

You Win, You Win... You Lose, You Still Win..

This is a good time for media folks to remember the Romans (Ashutosh of IBN calls them “Romany”). The Romans repeatedly lost their battles to the Gauls but took the defeats in their stride. There are many of our friends in the media who may need psychological counselling tonight; they may be going through the Pakistani syndrome of forever losing battles and wars. Rajdeep Sardesai, Barkha Dutt, Sagarika Ghose, Shekhar Gupta, Dileep Padgaonkar, Aakar Patel, S. Vardarajan, Ashutosh, Nikhil Wagle, Malini P and all their fellow campaigners in the media need to be complimented for their brave campaign against Narendra Modi. Then there are other foot soldiers like Shabnam Hashmi, Mallika Sarabhai, Javed Anand, Sanjiv Bhatt, and it’s time to say Hasta La Teesta to them. Politicians don’t have much of a problem with losing elections and deal with it quite well. They are used to it and always have their reasons ready.

The first rule to remember in a battle is the advice that Joey La Motta gives his brother in the landmark movie “Raging Bull”. Jake La Motta is up for another shot at the world title and is constantly worried about his weight but won’t stop eating. You know, sort of the Barkhas and Sagarikas who can’t stop eating while they campaign. Barkha goes even further, doing most of her campaigning from restaurants like ‘Agashiye’ or ‘Vishalla’ in Ahmedabad. Barkha seems to like Vishalla because it’s close to her only campaign spot ‘Juhapura’, which is a Muslim ghetto in Ahmedabad. See? Mention these two ladies and one can’t help getting distracted. Where were we? Oh yes, here’s Joey’s exemplary to advice to his tough, raging, boxer brother Jake:

“If you win, you win... If you lose, you still win”.

Hear the audio of that brilliant piece of wisdom from Joey La Motta at Hark. That’s the spirit to show. Life goes on! And none of the media folks are losers anyway. They and their channels have made a huge pile of money in their feverish campaigns all these years. Some of them are even known to have become “abnormally affluent” and known to own real estate beyond their known sources of income. But still, an election loss is a loss in public and needs to be dealt with. If it were Robert Vadra, we could have dismissed it as “private loss”. All the Queen’s poodles may definitely go for a ‘make-over’, new hairstyles, new wardrobes but it’s their hearts and minds that need more healing. I had actually thought of 5 ways but there’s Tim Milburn who has come up with 7 in his article “When You Lose An Election”. I will use just 6 of his 7. He has the experience too. So what we’ll do is just rephrase his 7 ways to deal with the loss and help the limousine chauffeurs recover.  

Even though you lost an election, you’re not a loser. Hold your head up; frown but smile. Respond like vindictive pricks. Don’t blame anything or anyone other than communal and polarised Gujjus who don’t understand the concept of secularism at all. Everyone who desires to be in media’s lie-mongering, fake opinion polls and conduct a campaign of calumny will lose out to someone else at some point. Yep! Like Rajdeep and Barkha lost out to Arnab on TRPs. 

Take some time right now to thank those who helped you. Whether they made posters for your campaign or helped spread the word, make sure you thank them. Like those who gave you Blackberrys or Iphones. They’re feeling bad as well (they wanted you to win). Your positive and encouraging words to them will restore their confidence. Do remember all those Hotels that gave you special discounts because you’re a media celeb. Remember all those restaurants who gave you free lunches and dinners just to have their pic taken with you.  

Congratulate the person who won. Huh? NEVER! When it comes to Gujarat, never ever congratulate that man. No matter what people say, no matter how the people vote, that man is not to be congratulated. Find all the excuses and reasons how victory was handed to him and he DID NOT win it. This may be difficult but it is absolutely the right thing to do. 

Reflect on the campaign. The best thing you can do with a failed campaign is to learn from it. Nothing! As with the last decade media folks will keep losing elections and learn nothing. What will you do different next time? Make sure you do all you can to ensure he is not a PM candidate and make a mild concession. Instead of State leader, call him a ‘Regional leader’ at best. Who do you need to bring on board? Think of Shabnam, Teesta, Mallika… Umm.. maybe even Suzy Roy?  

Gather yourself. You will experience a whirlwind of emotion. Take the time to regroup and find your emotional center. You entered the campaign or process with a clear understanding that you are going to lose. You only hoped and prayed it somehow didn’t happen. It did! Talk to princes and princesses. Immerse yourself in something else; like public anger against some cause. Find a sense of imbalance in the way your loss is reported.  

Begin to formulate a new plan. Like I said above, when you lose an election the only thing that really changes is your plans.  You don’t need to change your life, you just need to change your plan.  Start looking at your options. Now it’s time to start thinking about what’s next. Think of your campaign for 2014 and how the prince is your candidate for PM. Think of how to “Evolve” him.  

There! That’s not all that hard to do is it? History has it than when India toured Pakistan after a very long gap for the first time in 1978 under BishenSingh Bedi. After the series, which Pakistan convincingly won, Mushtaq Mohammad the Pak Captain thanked “All his Muslim brothers across the world for their victory”. I must caution Barkha and Sagarika not to thank them for their losses. When asked which two players Bedi would like to pick from Pakistan for his side, he replied “Your two umpires”. Maybe in 2014 our media crooks might like to thank the umpires again. Till then…

To Sir Creek, With Hand-In-Glove

A few days back I wrote about the Roman Agent in Gujarat. Yes, Gujarat is in the news and all over the place. Everyone’s talking about Gujarat elections, predictions, forecasts, exit polls, how Narendra Modi lost badly, how ‘sickular’ forces defeated this monster and so on. Umm… everyone, but NDTV. After elections closed on December 17 all the news channels were up with exit polls and endless discussions. For NDTV, who had campaigned so heavily in Gujarat, the state ceased to exist at 5pm on December 17 when voting closed. Someone was arguing with me about the elections and that the Gujjus were nothing more than “communal traders” and not a “secular” society etc. So, for this lady, I had to narrate to this story about a Gujju in the army and his “secular” trading skills. 

In the middle of the war our Gujju soldier got a telegram from his wife that there was an emergency and he should return home. On telegramming her back and forth he found she had broken her toe-nail and was in deep distress. Our Gujju soldier could feel the pain right through his war-torn body. So he put up an application with the General for leave. A furious General asked him to stop being “effete” and “vamoose”. But the guy was a persistent pest and kept pleading with the General. Frustrated and tired of the constant “trolling”, the General finally told him: “Okay, you can have your leave if you capture a Pakistani tank in 24 hours and bring it in”. The General knew well this was well beyond any soldier at that time let alone a Gujju. The Gujju soldier says “Alright, but stick to your promise and don’t cheat”. The General relaxed having gotten rid of the pest and not having to deal with him and his leave application again. But in less than 8 hours the man was riding to the General’s office in a Pakistani tank to the utter disbelief of all the other soldiers. The shock-and-awe-struck General couldn’t believe his eyes.

The thrilled and gleeful Gujju then put up his application for leave again and asked the General to sign. The stunned General responded: “Oh… your leave is fine but how did you do it? How did you capture a Paki tank in such a short time, what’s the secret?” The Gujju waved his hand and responded: “Oh that’s nothing, you see I have this arrangement, when those Paki soldiers want leave they borrow my tank”. 

But the war is long over and Pakistan wages war a lot more differently now. We also have our Track-2 diplomats who trade differently from the patriotic Gujju who at least fought in a war and risked his life. So when the GOI invited Pak Minister Rehman Malik around the Gujarat elections Narendra Modi raised this issue about ‘Sir Creek’. No, this Sir isn’t a knight of the little kingdom of the Queen but a small creek bordering Kutch in Gujarat and Pakistan. Modi created a storm by claiming the GOI was about to hand over Sir Creek to Pakistan. Such an issue rattled the Congress which was battling elections and was faced with what could snowball into a national scam. Giving off land has been a ritual with some of our politicians. Long back Aksai Chin was given off to China because “not a blade of grass grew there”. 

Recently some land was given off to Bangladesh or is about to be given off. Sir Creek was the last straw. PM Manmohan Singh strongly denied there was any such plan and the country was being misled and this was cheap politics by Modi. Yep, even news editors in print and on TV screamed murder by Modi. But trust people in the Social Media to be watchful as ever and bring out the truth. It seems the GOI did have a plan to hand over Sir Creek as a video would show. The video (at 18.20) has Barkha and other panellists discussing peace on a Pakistani channel and can be seen on Youtube. A short clip of the specific portion of the video is appended at the end of this post.

In the video Barkha Dutt, who knows quite a lot about Pakistan, clearly states that former Pakistan PM Yusuf Gilani indicated to her that the agreement on Sir Creek was ready and it could be signed during a visit of Manmohan Singh to Pakistan. One can be certain that the deal claimed by Barkha is not about Pakistan foregoing its claim on Sir Creek forever. So what Narendra Modi claimed wasn’t a lie and wasn’t fear mongering. Barkha, who was in knowledge of such a deal over Sir Creek and had inside information didn’t utter one word during all the noise over the issue in the last ten days. Manish Tiwari the I&B Minister and frequent spokesman for everything for the Congress daringly claimed “December 15 is here and Sir Creek is still with India”. One has enough evidence from what Barkha stated that it was still with India because Modi made all the noises. He probably ambushed the hand-over of Sir Creek to Pakistan. 

It is increasingly alarming what our supposed news media celebs are dealing in. They are certainly not trading tanks for leave applications. Read more here at BarbarIndian’s post on the media spins. It is not just Manish Tiwari, even our media’s bimbo editors went to town rubbishing Modi’s claims on Sir Creek without any serious investigation or fact-check. The denial by the Congress and the GOI doesn’t seem to be credible. They must come out with facts. Either that or Barkha has been lying on Pakistani TV and claiming balderdash that doesn’t exist. Sometime back a whole truck load of media celebs were listed as being on the menu-card of Ghulam Nabi Fai, the American-Kashmiri, who is lobbying for Azad Kashmir. Fai was being funded by the Pakistani ISI and was hosting many of our news traders and media scumbags to luxury trips and conventions on Kashmir. Fai is now in prison and we have to be surprised that none of the journos or social scientologists who were involved in his campaign are being investigated by the govt. 

Crooks in our media are the greatest danger to our democracy. We keep getting more and more evidence of it all too frequently. There is something truly sinister about this Sir Creek episode. I’ve heard of ‘To Sir, With Love’ but this sounds like ‘To Sir with Hand-in-Glove’. The Sir Creek episode does need more investigation and the title of this post would not make for a great movie.

 

The Roman Agent In Gujarat

He conquered many lands and kingdoms but Julius Caesar was at his wits end on how to deal with the Gauls. The little village of Asterix and others simply refused to surrender to the Roman emperor and were impossible to defeat in battle. One of Caesar’s ‘wiseguys’ suggested that they should sow anarchy and disharmony among the Gauls. Inject the citizens of Gaul with so much poison, internal conflict and hatred that they die fighting among themselves. They found a man who could do the job. Enter Tortuous Convolvulus (TC). Caesar wanted to test him but he needed no proof as the agent immediately had his senators fighting, gossiping and speaking ill of the emperor himself. Now this guy TC was so devious that once, when thrown to lions in a circus, he made the lions fight among themselves and kill each other. So you know what talent we are talking about. Take a look at his pic. TC oozes cunning and deceit from head to toe, doesn’t he?

So Caesar sends TC to Gaul to divide and destroy them. On the way he has all the members on his ship fighting each other too. When pirates are about to attack his ship he even sets the pirates fighting among each other by claiming he paid gold to one of them for not being attacked. TC manages to create havoc in the Gaul village but they eventually realise his scheme and turn the tables on him. They plot and prove to the Romans that TC is a traitor and had fooled their army. TC is sent back to Rome for punishment. It is suspected, though, that with his cunning and deceit TC would have escaped punishment.  

Unfortunately, good old Caesar didn’t have Indian TV media in his time. He wouldn’t have needed a TC then. All he would have had to do was ask a couple of Indian news channels and their celebrities to land in Gaul before a battle and they would have done the job better than TC. You know, like our own Romans have media channels doing the job for them. We have this little state called Gujarat which is troublesome, is headed by a man with some magic potion, who defies the empire at every turn. So every time there’s an election battle around, our own TCs land in Gujarat to divide people. In particular, their chosen target for the divisive agenda is the Muslim community. The topic? Of course, the 2002 riots. Even if Muslims have moved on our media morons will never let them forget and will keep re-opening old wounds.  

A little bit of history is in order. Let’s take Ahmedabad for example. The city is divided into East and West for reference by the Sabarmati River. Till the mid-1980s the western parts of Ahmedabad were undeveloped, had sparse population. Hindus and Muslims lived alongside each other in the eastern part but Hindus slowly started migrating to the western parts in huge numbers. Does Sagarika Ghose or Barkha Dutt ever explain why? It was riot-fatigue that made Hindus move to the western parts and, of course, better housing. Most Hindus in Ahmedabad do feel that they received a raw deal in all the communal riots till then under Congress rule. Groups of Muslims also shifted to the western parts. A few are concentrated in a middle class area called Paldi while low income groups huddled up in one of the largest ghettos called Juhapura. Hindus practically used to refer to Juhapura as Pakistan. There is a historical animosity that wasn’t brought about by Narendra Modi. This historical animosity did come under a series of Congress govts. Will Sagarika and Barkha tell you that? No! The MSM folks seem to have discovered Muslims in Ahmedabad and Gujarat only since 2002. I need not add that in all their shows they conveniently forget that 2002 wouldn’t have happened if the Godhra train burning hadn’t happened.  

Tragedies can be man-made and natural. Have Muslims moved on from the earthquake (which claimed over 20000 lives and much destruction of property) of 2001? Have they moved on from 2002? Has Gujarat moved on from both? The answer is YES! There may be a few families that may still be suffering the pain and that need not be only from Muslims. So what makes people like Barkha Dutt rush to Gujarat and frequently keep injecting a sense of permanent “victimhood” in Muslims? This is not just in Gujarat but they do it across India. If Muslims keep falling for this propaganda they may risk the danger of pushing themselves further into victimhood. Barkha was in Juhapura to talk to rickshaw drivers and others on their conditions but she doesn’t tell you the full story. She sexes up her report with incomplete stories. Take a look at this map below.

On the right you can see Paldi. Most private buses to Saurashtra region (Rajkot, Bhavnagar etc) start from Paldi. Till 2002 the route (in black) through Juhapura to the Sarkhej highway, onward to Rajkot, is the route they use to follow. Post-Godhra 2002 all these buses take the longer route (marked in red) to avoid passing through Juhapura which Barkha so devotedly covers on her trip. Wonder why? My route-marking may not be the exact roads but shows the direction very accurately. Bus operators were willing to go through a longer route as against taking risks. Can Barkha explain why? Now, since the red route has become quite established, it’s not just Hindu bus operators but Muslim operators also follow that route. Truth is, for a long time Hindus have avoided going through the route past Juhapura unless absolutely necessary. Things are different now. There is no fear and most people drive past Juhapura. This was the same fear and fatigue that drove most Hindus from the eastern parts of Ahmedabad to the western parts. Juhapura is just one example that I’m giving. There are many other stories that the Tortuous Convolvuluses in the media aren’t going to tell. The post is not about history but only refers to what Barkha touched upon in her show.

Interestingly, look at the title of both Barkha’s and Sagarika’s shows. Both talk about a “Muslim narrative”. That they are identical shouldn’t be any surprise at all. The headlines could have made a happily married couple out of both channels. Their only agenda was to somehow smear Narendra Modi just around the elections. Try and whip up some anti-Modi sentiments through Muslims and hope Caesar is happy. While harping on no Muslim being given an election ticket by the BJP someone on NDTV asked Nidhi Razdan why Omar Abdullah hasn’t given any tickets to Hindus. No answer! The same agents never talk about the pogrom or systematic ethnic cleansing that happened in Kashmir. In Gujarat, Muslims now live peacefully, many who left have also returned. There is no returning for Hindus who were driven out of Kashmir. No govt or media speaks for them. This is one of the reasons Narendra Modi has become an icon for Hindus. Caesar’s agents don’t seem to get this simple fact or happily choose to live in denial.  

Most things that Barkha discussed on her show are worth the trash can. On December 11 she gently brought up the ‘Muslim’ agenda by asking if development is significant if there is “no justice”. This is as much a lie as any you can get from agents. Gujarat 2002 is probably the only communal riots where many have been convicted and punished. Increasingly, even BJP supporters wonder why people like Nirmala Sitharaman and others even appear on her agenda-driven shows. Any Muslim who mentions Modi favourably or appears with him is permanently tarred by the media, the Congress and by the NGO criminals who have made a killing with the riots story.  

While harping on Irfan Pathan’s appearance on stage with Narendra Modi, Barkha couldn’t conceal her anguish. Even Sunetra Chaudhury of NDTV couldn’t conceal her contempt for this event in her tweets. So what riles up these folks? Even way back in 2007 when India won the T-20 world cup Narendra Modi’s govt had awarded 5 lakhs to the Pathan brothers. Modi applauds achievements of any Gujarati quite frequently. He lauds Sunita Williams, the Pathans and even those not from Gujarat. The media doesn’t seem to have any problems with Bollywood actors campaigning for Modi, so why a problem with Irfan Pathan? Are they suggesting he’s a Muslim first and not Indian first? And a successful cricketer? Muslims must guard against such clever spin. Caesar’s agents may not like it because all they want is that Narendra Modi be hanged sent to prison or at least apologise since they have already stuck the “convict badge” on him. Programs by the Barkhas and their tweets and other communication aren’t those of journalists. They sound more and more like electioneering lobbyists and people are able to see through their messages now. This is what bothers them.  

Then Barkha sits around wondering why her tweets and comments are questioned even by those who are blocked by her. That is laughable and can only come from a moron who doesn’t really know how twitter works or how public figures will always be assessed by people. By her stupid logic she should know that Narendra Modi has practically blocked her long back. He doesn’t give any interviews to her or any of the celebs from NDTV and yet she keeps hovering over 2002 and chasing Narendra Modi. Doesn’t she get his message? Actually, the more Barkha rants against Modi the more he seems to get popular and she doesn’t even get that. Real question is not whether Muslims have moved on from 2002. It is whether Barkha has moved on from 2002, from Radiagate. It’s whether she has moved on from the ‘Shoddy Journalism’ episode. It is whether she has moved on from the Chaitanya Kunte episode.  

As clever as Tortuous Convolvulus was, he failed to destroy the spirit and unity of the Gauls or their fierce defence of their little village against the Romans. The Roman agents from Delhi keep turning up in Gujarat as a regular ritual before every election. And yes, they do go back severely exposed and feeling stupid like TC. Convolvulus was clever and deceitful enough to escape the lions but I wonder if our Roman agents can escape the lions from Gujarat.

Gujarat - RahulG Delivers Final Blow To Modi

He came, He Saw, He Spoke …. And we all laughed. There’s never a dull moment with Rahul Gandhi. He does seem to be the ‘apparent’ in the Congress ‘hair’. I have never been interested in political rallies or speeches. In all my life I have attended only one rally sometime early in the 1990s. It had nothing to with any interest in politics but a group of friends and I wanted to hear someone who was known as a great orator. That was A.B. Vajpayee and it was in a small municipal ground with just around 500 people. His chaste Hindi, his humour, his assertive style didn’t disappoint at all. Narendra Modi is even better as an orator but I have not been tempted to attend any of his rallies or keenly look forward to his speeches. But over the last 2 years the only person I keenly look forward to hear is Rahul Gandhi. He has my complete attention every time he speaks and I get a chance to listen to him. To call it an experience is an understatement. So it was that when he turned up in Gujarat on the last day of campaign (before the first round of polls) on December 11 I had to listen. It’s not just what he says but I also listen to see how the media cronies of Congress reproduce those speeches which add to the fun. Especially when it comes to NDTV and CNN-IBN the report is even better than the speeches. 
  

Firstly, unable to resist the temptation to add her two cents on the Gujarat election Barkha Dutt rushed to Ahmedabad with nothing to do really. By now most public areas are places where she is likely to be booed ‘By The People’. So she turns up at the most comforting zone in Ahmedabad – with Jagruti Pandya and Shweta Bhatt who are contesting the elections; the latter against Narendra Modi in the Maninagar constituency of Ahmedabad. The title of her report might make you want to think, what the Dickens! Well, given she’s a regular Literfest participant “A tale of two wives” quite suits her. The headline is typically from the NDTV/Barkha Dutt spin alley: ‘Modi forced to share limelight with these two wives’. And what does Shweta Bhatt have to offer? A treasure trove of lies like – there’s no water in Maninagar, no development, no this no that. Those who don’t know, she doesn’t live in that area. She lives in an area that has never faced a water problem in many years or any problem that might affect an Amdavadi. The only place where she gets some ‘limelight’ is in Barkha’s head and probably on NDTV. Nowhere else!
  

Here’s a tweet from Barkha’s good friend Swapan Dasgupta. The atmosphere he describes at a Modi rally is quite believable. The man has the ability to create an electric atmosphere with his speeches. Modi can use twists and spins like any other politician but he is not known to use outright lies. What probably does bother Barkha is not what limelight those ladies might be having but that she has fallen from such heights that in an important election in an important state she is millions of miles away from the limelight. Even Rajdeep Sardesai managed to attend a few Modi rallies, get a seat on his bus and an interview. Barkha is just reduced to reporting from the shadows. It’s a warning for every aspiring or practicing journalist. If you claim to be in journalism do not hold excessive hate and contempt for a person no matter what. This is especially when that hate is based on a huge volume of lies. While Modi’s stock has gone up in the last decade, Barkha has been reduced to reporting also-rans like a side-show. Reduced to interviews in hotels or reporting from shops or from complexes like the Gujarat Vidyapith (December 11). 

So what did RahulG say? Well, he improved on his comic stuff from UP. This time he told people how Gandhiji and Motilal Nehru discussed things. You know like that Amitabh Bachchan dialogue in “Namak Halal” where he describes how Vijay Merchant and Vijay Hazare had a discussion before finally taking a run. Oh yes… He also reminded us Rajivji “brought computers, mobile phones”. He forgot to add that Gandhiji brought salt from his Dandi march. Doesn’t matter that mobile phones came in only around 1995! Fact-check, homework? And then he touched upon his favourite topic – Potatoes! Potatoes are sold at 3/- a kilo and chips are sold at 10/- a pack. Oops.. in UP it was 1/- a kilo and chips were 20/- a pack (Read: RahulGThe King of comedy). These price fluctuations don’t seem to add up. But then nothing adds up with RG. Like his mom, he mentioned everyone in his Nehru-Gandhi family from Motilal to Soniaji (Oh.. he forgot Priyanka and Robert Vadra though).  

On December 10 Sonia Gandhi stated Nehruji established ONGC in the town of Mehsana at a meeting in Siddhpur (near Mehsana). Don’t expect our media to check but now the SM does check each and every word uttered. ONGC Mehsana wasn’t established till November 1967 long after Nehru’s death. That’s only half the story. As an observer on Twitter pointed out, they didn’t open ONGC in Mehsana for fun or gave it preference over Muktasar in Punjab. The simple fact is Mehsana has oil and nobody does anybody a favour by exploring and drilling for oil. That Congress can make such stupid statements is now a standard expectation. Overall the tone of both SoniaG and RahulG is one of a family that has been generous to the people of this country and they should be grateful for the crumbs the family doles out. Well, unfortunately people in Gujarat have tasted a great amount of success and aren’t carried away with these emotional stories about Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru or any Gandhi family computer or mobile. 
  

However, like I said earlier, it’s not just what RG says but how the media responds to his speeches. Congress mouthpieces like NDTV in particular and CNN-IBN which can fall over each other to please their favoured party. Immediately after RG spoke at Jamnagar on December 11 NDTV carried a report summarising his speech. See their first headline at 12.27 in the image. I immediately tweeted (12.43) that it was an absolute lie and that RG never mentioned Modi even once in his whole speech. So what happens? Caught on the wrong foot NDTV changes its headline by 13.35 and the second one in the image is what the headline currently is (unless they’ve changed it again). There are many others on Twitter and SM who are now constantly keeping an eye on the spins of the media. There are journalists everywhere, except in the MSM. 
  

In a previous post I sought to explain how, having failed with the 2002 riots game, the media is now trying to portray Modi as a regional leader. Rajdeep Sardesai at 9pm on December 11 therefore asks “Is RahulG V Modi a no contest in Gujarat”. Some might miss the clever trick and spin in that tweet. Would RG Vs Modi at any other place be any contest at all? I doubt it. Modi is a man with facts on his fingers and a great orator. In contrast, RG is a ‘Gandhi’ and nothing more. He neither has any talent nor skills for politics. So, the video headline from RG’s Jamnagar speech on CNN-IBN says it all: “Rahul Campaigns, Finally”. That’s like Rajdeep Sardesai and CNN-IBN heaved a sigh of relief that RG finally showed up and delivered their money’s worth. I guarantee you neither NDTV nor CNN-IBN is going to do any fact-check on any statement made by RahulG or SoniaG. This is what people do; they feel the truth and the lies in their gut. They aren’t gullible fools like Justice Katju would like to think. The only fools are some of the Gandhi followers themselves as in the previous post “Boozing with confidence”.  

The arrogance with which the Gandhis claim they delivered everything to this nation is alarming and equally frivolous at the same time. And our media like faithful dogs allows this to continue without challenging them on facts. As Madhu Kishwar notes somewhere, most of the time RahulG is not even in India and no one even in his party knows which part of the world he is and what he does. If RG had the same attendance in any university that he has in the parliament he would be sacked without a second thought. The same arrogance and stupidity gets transferred to his cronies too. They too start making Bimboesque statements. Shweta Bhatt, the Jenny-come-lately, screams: “If I win, it will be a victory for Gujarat; if I lose, Gujarat will lose” (See Firstpost). Gujarat will lose? And she wants Gujaratis to vote for her? I have to say, if such morons lose it will be a big win not only for Gujarat or India but for humanity.  

Over a year ago I started using the term “Blow to Modi” as a sarcastic comment on everything positive that happens to him when the media was happy to keep delivering blows to him for any silly reason. To my surprise I found I have never used it as a title for any of my posts. It’s now quite a popular term on Twitter to snub the media. With the latest round of comedy all I can say is that Rahul Gandhi came, he saw, he spoke and he delivered the “Final Blow to Modi”.
