Namak Haram is a Hindi phrase which
means "one who is treacherous" or "one who cannot be
trusted" while Deorhi is a word in Hindi which means "gate". So
the total sums up to "the gate to him who cannot be trusted". The
gate in the image is called the “Namak-Haram gate” or the ‘Traitor’s gate”. It’s the place where Mir Jaffar lived in Murshidabad in
Bengal. India’s history is replete with such traitors. It’s not just history
but even now there are many in our politics, NGOs, media and other domains who
may someday earn such an epithet. There are anti-nationals who roam around as
intellectuals. There are Fai Fighters who still remain untouched by any
process of investigation of their activities. This has become a country where,
to some people, calling oneself a ‘Hindu, a nationalist and patriot’ is deeply
offensive. We should continue to offend such people. Someday, there will be a
gate built in their memory too. But let’s move on to a different story.
Shoma
Chaudhury is angry. She tweeted on
July 18 that her “fearless” journo Rana Ayyub who dabbles with the Ishrat
encounter case and “gets” juicy papers from CBI is being slandered. Shoma
doesn’t admit that none of the crap of “Black beard-White beard” forms
part of the CBI charge-sheet which her yellow pages and Sreenivasan Jain of
NDTV so touted. Rana must be like Nadia, the fearless ‘Hunterwali’. Coming from
a Congress poodle who has slandered quite a few as alleged editor that is surprising
anger. She doesn’t name the ‘slanderers’ so you can guess where her fingers are
pointed because the article linked in her tweet pertains to one who she
despises with unbridled hatred. Maybe she should read the media guy’s post: ‘Pissy
Poodles Can’t Be Angry Journalists’. First slander others and then play victim. It comes naturally to some people.
Many are convinced that the CBI has
simply concocted a political-vendetta case under pressure by the Congress and some
of its own officers have been stating the whole case is based on hearsay. A
former Home Ministry official also claims he was pressurised to provide signed
statements. Naturally, I had to ask the poodles at Shoma Chaudhury’s yellow
pages why they don’t get any CBI papers when it comes to Congress members:
The Ishrat case will be blaring till
Elections 2014 and then none of these champions are going to bother about it.
That much is certain. But here is something that is being discussed in certain
groups and circulated on mails. It’s a long mail and I have reproduced it with
minor editing to shorten the article without taking away any of its essence.
You read, you decide (This is from a Pan-IIT group on Yahoo).

-----------------------------
The on-going ‘trial by media’ of the
Gujarat Police Officers, subsequent to the filing of the ‘first’ charge sheet
by the CBI in the ‘Irshat Jehan Encounter Case’ is disturbing. One writer went
to the extent of a vicious calumny that “The police in Gujarat wear
lawlessness as a badge of honour, …” and another branded
the Gujarat Police as “KHAKI DEATH SQUADS” .
The ferocity of the nearly unprecedented
and allegedly unprincipled inquisition of the Gujarat Police, has raised
counter-allegations that the Central Govt’s mechanism for investigation and
litigation is disproportionately focused against the Gujarat police and also
has led to a confrontation between the two central agencies (one for
Investigation and the other for ‘Intelligence’). This allegedly is being
orchestrated and the attendant attrition has led to the crossing of a Rubicon,
wherein the functioning of the apex national Intelligence agency has been
severely compromised.
“The spat between the CBI and the
Intelligence Bureau (IB) has become so openly unseemly that it can only hurt
the Indian state’s long-term interests. The IB argument, and a fair one
at that, is that its officer exercised his judgment in evaluating certain
intelligence inputs; in retrospect one can question or disagree with that
judgment but it is an altogether different matter to insist that the IB
officials were a party to the Gujarat Police’s cold-blooded conspiracy. Now,
out of a sense of organisational loyalty, the IB finds itself having to reveal its
hand; reporters are being allowed to “access” the armoire of intercepts,
reports” - Harish Khare
To place the current goings on in a
historical perspective, it is essential to go back in time to a not dissimilar
crisis which confronted the Punjab Police wherein also, a vicious campaign of
calumny, hostility and the litigation route was adopted as the most convenient
strategy for vendetta against the police. This occurred after the Punjab Police
had contributed in significant measure towards the latter part of the Punjab
crisis of the 1980’s and ‘peace’ was ‘restored’ in that state.
The case of the then SSP Ajit Singh
Sandhu of the Punjab Police (somewhat reminiscent of Mr. Vanzara of the Gujarat
police, now) and the classic statement of the then Punjab Police chief KPS
Gill, unknown to most Indians, require to become a subject of national
debate in the context of the “current trial by media”.
SSP Ajit Singh Sandhu, during the
1980’s, was perhaps the police officer most dreaded by terrorists in Punjab,
after K P S Gill. A. S. Sandhu came into limelight for liquidating some top
terrorists and restoring peace, particularly in the once terrorist hotbed of
Tarn Taran police district in Punjab.
In 1997, nearly a decade after normalcy
was restored in Punjab, Punjab Police personnel and especially A.S Sandhu began
to be probed by the National Human Rights Commission and the courts, for their
alleged excesses during the militancy. What were once touted as ‘achievements’
suddenly became ‘excesses’? Reportedly, SSP A.S. Sandhu faced more than 40
cases of alleged excesses, killings and ‘stage-managed encounters’.
On 23 May 1997, at about 11.05 AM, SSP
A.S. Sandhu (52), threw himself in front the Kalka-bound `Himalayan Queen' and
committed suicide; 20 km from Chandigarh. He left behind two daughters and a
son besides his wife.
The police recovered a suicide note
written by the deceased declaring: "Jalil ho ke jeen to changa hai
mar jana'' (It is better to die than to live a life of humiliation).
By citing the above, no case is being
made out for ‘immunity’ for any member of the Gujrat Police. Nor is it being
suggested that there will take place any ‘suicides’. It is only to iterate that
the investigations and trials be held, according to the laws of the land, and
also considering the special circumstances that prevail in dealing with
“Terrorism”, while applying the statutes and also that trials should not
proceed according to the processes that are seemingly being improvised on a day
to day basis to implicate the Gujarat police personnel.
Two points before going on to KPS Gill’s
statement .
1. In 1997, when KPS Gill gave the u/m
statement, “Low Intensity Wars” were being fought only in Kashmir, Assam, Manipur,
Nagaland and Tripura. Having somehow dealt with the ‘Punjab Crisis’, the
national leadership should have taken note of the existing pattern of the “Low
Intensity Wars” in the country, that could only be expected to grow in the
future. Unfortunately, they did not and continued to dismiss them as
‘non-military threats’ and the ill equipped police of the states and the Home
Ministries (both of the states and the centre) dealt with them. The
result is that at present, the “Low Intensity War” Zone has got extended to an
area stretching right from W Bengal, through Bihar, Odisha, Chattisgarh right
down to Andhra and even Kerala( Maoists) ! But that is another subject all
together.
2. In 1997, when KPS Gill gave the
statement, he spoke of “We are not far from the edge of the abyss”. But,
presently, we are perhaps in a state of free-fall in that abyss. That too is
another matter altogether.
Now on to “Is namard desh mein
paida mujhe kyon kar diya'' [ Why was I born in this country where
there are no men?] which is an excerpt from the classic statement of former
Punjab Police chief KPS Gill on the death of AS Sandhu.
Every word in the statement of KPS Gill,
made way back in 1997 is very relevant and significant even. Those of ‘US’ who
were young Captains’ and Majors’ during the peak of the ‘Punjab Crisis’ and
were involved with it in one way or the other, would be able to better connect
with the words of KPS Gill.
HERE'S THE CLASSIC STATEMENT OF FORMER
PUNJAB POLICE CHIEF KPS GILL. READ IT AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.
I have not called this press conference to express my
grief at AS Sandhu’s death. My feelings on this count are between his family
and myself. What I have to say today is that we have already given up most of
this country to criminals, to corrupt politicians, and to unscrupulous
lobbyists who will work with any cause that serves their personal ends, whether
criminal, political or secessionist.
Nonetheless, in a country dominated by
those who prefer to criticise from the safety of their homes, or the comfort of
air-conditioned debating societies at Delhi and Chandigarh, there are still a
handful of people who are willing to risk everything including their lives and
the lives of their family to protect the unity and integrity of their nation,
and the lives of citizen’s terrorised by an utterly unprincipled and merciless
enemy. I can say without reservation that AS Sandhu was one such man.
Tarn Taran, at the height of terrorism
was sometimes spoken of as the rocket that would propel Punjab out of the
Indian Union. The terrorists influence was absolute; for years, it was
virtually out of the control of the civil administration, and even the police
had no more than a nominal and symbolic presence there.
It was in such a situation that I was
looking for an officer who had the courage to mount an effective campaign
against militancy in this militant heartland. I spoke to several officers, and
each excelled in the invention of ingenious excuses to avoid the responsibility.
When I asked Sandhu if he was willing to go to Tan Taran to put down terrorism,
he accepted without hesitation. Some will say that he went there to exploit and
enjoy the “power of the state”. But the state, when Sandhu went to Tan
Taran, had no power there. I know that he was a hair's breadth away from death
throughout his tenure in the district. I know he never compromised. And
yet, he achieved everything I could hope for.
Few, today, understand the significance
of what happened in Tan Taran. Had we lost control over the district, Punjab's
secession would have become an inevitability. Had we lost Punjab, Kashmir
would certainly have followed. And once this process of fission began,
every linguistic, ethnic and cultural group would have raised the standard of
revolt. Pakistan would have been celebrating this 50th year of
its independence through the realisation of its dream of a balkanised India.
Delhi and its “think tanks” would have no hinterland to analyse and exploit. The
unending supplies of electricity, food, water, and a cornucopia of goods that
keep Delhi’s elite in a state of luxury would have come to an abrupt end.
And the Government and the Apex court of the land would probably have presided
over a jurisdiction from “Delhi to Palam”. Judges may have still continued to
write erudite and exquisitely worded judgements. But they would have no
relevance for this country. This country, as we know it, would no longer have
existed. The fact that this scenario appears incredible today is testimony to
the achievements of men like Sandhu.
All men are heroes in a time of peace.
But those who are heading the self-righteous witch hunt against the officers
and men of Punjab police today should ask themselves where they were hiding for
10 years when terrorists roamed free, unchallenged by any but the Punjab police
and their comrades in uniform from other services - and a handful of
courageous farmers who would not succumb to terror? For 10 years the judiciary
remained in a state of unmitigated paralysis in Punjab. Where was their
commitment to justice then? For 10 years, the press published on the
terrorists’ diktat- with only a single exception that all of you know of. That
is a long vacation for the ‘truth’.
I am not here to defend corrupt or venal
policemen. But the distortion and manipulation of legal process that is being
resorted to by an utterly compromised ‘human rights’ lobby cannot be
supported. This lobby understands the nuts and bolts of the judicial engine,
and knows every method of the orchestration of the media and the new tyranny of
trial by the press. A police officer can effectively fight their designs only
if he has a great deal of money to buy the best legal advice in the country – and
only the corrupt have that kind of money.
A sustained campaign was carried out
by the Human Rights lobby against A.S. Sandhu on the Goebbelsian Doctrine
that an untruth repeated endlessly becomes the truth. He was supposed to have
made a lot of money.
I do not, despite these circumstances,
justify the action of a proud Jat Sikh committing suicide. But I understand the
reasons. This is not the action of a coward unable to face the dangers of
life. Sandhu faced more dangers during his tenure at Tan Taran than many
brave men could in several life-times. It was not fear that drove him to death.
I do not think that the man knew the meaning of the word – it was
ingratitude.
It is not, of course surprising that having
lost the battle for Khalistan through force of arms, the terrorists and
their front men should have exploited the human rights angle to target men
like Sandhu. What is unforgivable is that the nation he fought to defend,
the people who he risked his life to protect, simply turned away in
indifference or joined the crescendo against him, when such a plot was
engineered; without checking the merits of evidence, without even giving him
the opportunity of a fair trial.
The Indian state must start educating
itself on how it is to tackle individuals and groups trying to destroy the
State. And it must learn how to arm
and protect those who put their lives at stake in the defence of India’s unity
and integrity.
We are not far from the edge of the
abyss. Let this nation beware of the hour when no man will risk his life
to protect another or to defend the nation, Josh Malihabadi once wrote, “Buzdilon
ke ishq mein, shaida mujhe kyon kar kiya. Is namard desh mein paida mujhe kyon
kar kiya''. When men of courage begin to say this, all hope will
die. No people who treat their heroes as we have done can expect to survive.

reported in various sites, the full speech reproduced in the mail is not
verified by me. Readers can make their own assessment and conclusions.
Well Said. Shekar Gupta - Editor, Indian Express, Ashok Malik, KPS Gills Letter and scores of thinkers are saying this same thing. The NCR TV studios are living in the ivory tower of their own. Media should stop being a paid media and look after national intrest.
ReplyDeleteKPS Gill's painful letter is a MUST read for every Indian, particularly youth. Reading his speech the way Veer Jawan A.S. Sandhu was targeted by fake Human Rights groups college industry for saving Punjab and thus India is again played out on Narendra Modi for trying to save India.
ReplyDeleteThis time the traitors are increased 10 fold from opposition anti National Congress to Paid Media to Terrorist groups to fake NGOs to self styled Secularists to Christian missionaries to Vested Interests to China backed Communists to Caged Parrot agencies to Dynasty sycophants.
Just a small note:
ReplyDeleteIn the 10th paragraph from where the quote starts at the top... the writer says ..
"...and also that trials should not proceed according to the processes that are seemingly being improvised on a day to day basis to implicate the Gujarat police personnel".
I wish to add that in the case of Gujarat the aim is not just to implicate the police personnel but the larger goal of implicating Narendra Modi, a 4-time elected CM. The Congress, CBI, assorted NGOs and media poodles have been waging a war to somehow implicate Modi in any case they can lay their hands on. In their attempts to destroy Modi they are causing far greater damage to the nation itself. There are now reports that IB is now cautious on sounding any alerts. The well-planned process of breaking of India and balkanisation is not a figment of imagination. It is indeed happening on the ground as mentioned in some previous posts.
Absolutely spot on!
DeleteRavinar would like you to write a article on Mr. Mani the home ministry official who said he heard from Mr.Satish Verma the so called brilliant officer of ishrat jahan case that parliament attack 26/11 was hoax i have tweeted you about this how traitors of our country the MSM is silent on this here some links of pakistani newspapers and how traitors make a fun of our country in the foreign countries for settling political scores

I guess the way out is for IB to seek an advisory from GOI if they have to be more conservative in future in sharing Intelligence. Let the GOI say yes or no.Atleast after future bomb blasts we may not have to hear the oft repeated 'intelligence failure'excuse. Most anti nationals have a few red herrings in their resume to show their impartial professional history.Ask Rana Ayub and she will dish out a few of her past achievements like fighting for Dalits and what not just to prove the secular credentials. The same way as Taliban cultivate wheat along with Poppy just as a decoy and perhaps burndown the wheat later. In a recent family get together called 'we the people'on NDTV one could hear appalling prescriptions to policemen, not to draw their guns until the first shot is fired by the terrorists! That the mere possesion of a weapon in the hands of a terrorist is not enough reason to fire at them. How I wish the honourable Mr.KPS Gill should have been a part of this motley crowd that day.

ReplyDeleteGreat one Ravinar! You write gem after gem of articles and I eagerly look for your articles many times a day.
ReplyDeleteTehelka (and their likes) who live on slandering people, their integrity & character shall not cry foul as 'the one who sow sins have to reap it' would come back to haunt them after a full circle. I wonder what BJP during their power from 1998 to 2004 had done to tackle the likes of 'tehelka', which had rabidly opposed them and brought out many 'stings' that are morally corrupt and questionable? NDA had a golden opportunity but had lost to tackle these media crooks. May God Save this country from backstabbers, traitors, paid media, anti-national NGOs and their likes.
It is all NDA s fault they not only faiiled to fix the manipulating cong by exposing them they also allowed them to come back
Delete@venkat eswaran
DeleteAgree with you, but slightly different. How people vote in subsequent elections, no body knows. So, it was not in NDA's control. But there were many other fixes NDA could do, but NDA did not utilize the best chance.
The least NDA could do was provide full autonomy to central agencies like IB, CBI and judiciary. That way, subsequent government could not have misused and abused these agencies for political gains like Sonia Gandhi Congress government is using now.
Also, NDA should have done country's defenses most deterrent against Terrorists. LK Advani has miserably failed as a home minister with attack on Parliament and Indian Airlines plane hijack events. Defense minister George Fernandez has also failed partially.
@venkat eswaran
DeleteIt is unfair to blame NDA. It had just 6 years with coalition mandate. I remember a short column by Tavleen Singh in India Today. It talks about loyalty of bureaucracy to congress party and whether NDA can change that. I do not think NDA succeeded in that. Please refer to Onion Crisis of 1998.
Vajpayee had too many issues on hand when he inherited the bad legacy from congress. To my understanding he focused more on development than politicking. To be honest, congress governments under Rajiv Gandhi and PVNR too had never tried the type political decimation you are talking.
@Truth Speaks
You forgot to mention Sabarati Train burning in Advani's failures. My apologies if I sound personal but it is armchair criticism.
When priminister says maoists(!!!) Or Naxalites are our gretest threat and his home minister says they(maoists &naxalites) are our own people when around 60 jawans killed by those mercenaries what more one can expect from those organisations, intellectuals(!!!), ngos - made or allowed to do so with only one intention to defend congress. In return they get what they desire....
ReplyDeleteIf anyone carefully notice will find that these above mention mercenaries are mainly active in non-congress state or become active when congress loses power and strength or both.
Example :
Andhra was hot bed of maoist activity when TDP was in power.now for the last ten years they are silent there and active in madhyapradesh, chattisgarh, odisha. A few years back they were active in Bihar too. Suddenly they almost disappeared. Nitish Kumar's recent gesture cleared my doubt. Now they are not so active in jharkhand too. Reason is clear and simple. In Bihar & Jharkhand they are just killing those people who can disturb congress or it's allies!
In Assam when congress in power there is no ULFA or any such thing. ULFA became active when for few years congress lost power and ULFA killed those reponsible for keeping congress out of power or may be responsible to keep congress out of power in future.
I can give many ..... but these two are enough to get an idea about the lot.
Dear Toofan,
DeleteThanks for mentioning this important factor. Really appreciate.
How true..........but does anybody care what is happening?
DeleteThe Maoists in India and all their commanders are fiendish Jesuit Christian fundamentalist genocidists faking the guise of egalitarianism and leftism. Although they do receive support from China which is another super-imperialist India-hater in leftist disguise, the aims of the Maoists are far-deadlier than what was achieved in any of the Marxist revolutions around the globe. Supporting them are "leftist" intellectuals of all hues in India who themselves hail from traditionally imperialist feudal family backgrounds and share a coomon legacy of Dhimmitude-grooming in evangelist Christian convents. Convented Home Minister Chidambaram refused to give the IAF permission to fire back on Maoists who attack their helicopters. Maoists are running a parallel government in vast tracts of Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh and Orissa without the least sympathy from local villagers who are however helpless because they are being tyrranised 1000 times more ferociously than what the terrorists did to villgers in Punjab. All this is happening with the blessings of the KhanChriss vice-regent known for upteen secret visits to Western citadels of corporate imperialism. The Maoists who are not native to Jharkhand or Chhattisgarh (but are descendants of untouchability-monger imperialist colonists from 1100 AD conquests) are massacring innocents by the hundreds in "fake Jan-adalats" to terrorise the patriotic public into servile silence. The convented Leftist super-corporatist money-worshipper media celebrities are defending their genocide with the blatant lie that they are Adivasi natives fighting to uproot the age-old tradition of expropriation of mineral mines by alien north-indian Aryan rulers. In reality, they are literally wreaking an "inquisition" on the Hindu natives in keeping with Jesuit tradition in the Konkan and Africa. They want to establish dictatorship of Western Church-corporate-imperialism and are eliminating commoners who oppose the rapaciousness of Vedanta Co. owned by the Church of England. Courts have now granted "political prisoner" status and previliges to Maoist cadre and leaders, including their rocket-designers. Supreme Court has disbanded the popular public-commoner partnership grass-root movement Salwa Judum which was fighting the Maoist menace; but no action has been taken to disband the hundreds of foreign inspired heavily-armed private agencies in India which tyrranise farmers, rape adolescent peasant girls and illegally enslave laboreres around industrial units in rural India, and about whom the govt has itself admitted in court that there is no guarantee that they might not organise themselves into a rogue private army. Rather, KhanChriss dirty tricks department is planning to allow 100% FDI in pvt security, and accede to Western security thugs' demand for licence to keep sophisticated commando-class automatic weapons. One can imagine how they can undermine internal security of the nation given their record of brutal illegal massacre of unarmed civilians in Iraq(Blackwater-gate) and Libya, and given that their charter stipulates stringent unswerving allegiance to the company's worldwide HQ over and above loyalty to the nation. When Gaddafi's Libya was attacked by the West some years back, it was the heavily-armed Western private security deployed at western oil-fields deep inside the desert that mutinned against Libyan authority, smoked Libyans out of this world and secured crucial airfields and Oil-export terminals for landings by Nato combat warplanes and amphibious units.
DeleteBy 2025 i am pretty sure the India we know today in geographical terms won't exist anymore if this CON party led alliance comes back to power. Already Chinese are coming and going without any resistance and our govt is just not interested in confronting them. What's happening down south on the sea front is not being reported with any seriousness by the media and govt has turned a blind eye to the killings of fishermen by the Lankan navy. The worrisome part is that most of Lankan navy boats has a handful of chinese personal onboard. This has been confirmed by the Indian fishermen who have survived the attack but govt just doesn't want to acknowledge it. Sh*t scarred of Chinese we are rather this govt i should say. From Pakistan to Nepal to Lanka to Maldives Chinese have us surrounded. This is the external threat, Internally they have resurrected the naxals in the last 5 years in a big way to keep the country always in simmer, keep the security forces always engaged. As it says in the article we are in a free fall already inside an abyss and when it stops its going to be with a loud thud and many broken parts.

ReplyDeleteI was working near Tarn Tarn during the peak of punjab militancy and know for sure the odds that plagued against the policemen. Mr. Sandhu's contribution had no parallel. No doubt the police were to be given a free hand in all such cases and shielded from the so called human rights agencies which are shadow agencies of foreign spy agencies to legally operate in India or elsewhere. Khangress never had any patriotism in their blood other than their own dynasty blood. If you draw a lineage of all khangressmen today, most of these people are descendants of those traitors who have ditched the then rulers who waged 1857 war of independence against british rule example : Scindia family. More names can be exposed, should one put the effort.
ReplyDeleteTragic reading about AS Sandhu. Wish that this braveheart had also taken a few vermins ( those that were tormenting him and hurting his pride) down , along with him. But yes, this is definitely an ungrateful nation of cowards and idiots. A nation that celebrates mediocrity.
ReplyDeleteThe story left me very depressed & saddened. May God bless peace to the brave soul of Ajit Singh Sandhu & may he come back to serve Bharat Mata whose new lot is now wokenup. When war is being wedged by terrorists, Police shud be given Free-hand & reasonably protected by law. This Corrupt-power drunk Media, NGOs & HR activists must be effectively stopped with new laws so that repeatation of cases like A.S Sandhu does not happen again.
ReplyDeleteI too am greatly depressed....What is happening in my good country?

As I was reading this post, my mind went back to my days as a reporter covering the Bosnian war from Sarajevo and Geneva where international efforts were mounted to bring about peace in the Balkans. The fault lines of history was an oft-used term by journalists and diplomats to describe the war. During an off the record press briefing, a senior diplomat from the US said today it is the Balkans, tomorrow it could be Kashmir. The term used was "Balkanisation of India." Democracies are about punishing the guilty after a free and fair trial. They are not about punishing the system itself.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is true that Western world chooses its own selfish priorities to upstage any country or principle ... so long it suits its logic & purpose
DeleteMadam, you were a major force in exposing the BOFORS scandal and the system is still grappling with bringing people to justice. You must have really felt Josh Malihabadis words first hand!
DeleteDespite my depression, I still feel this great country will fight back all aggression, both covert and open, with qualified support of patriotic citizens. I feel there are good people who think of their communities first and then think of the country. They are there in all walks of life and communities: Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians and other religions; there are some good politicians, artists, journalists, lawyers, engineers and bureaucrats. I hope the ultimate victory belongs to these good people and this country wins.
ReplyDeleteThis article made me to recall Porbandar, Gujarat. Gunda activities were blooming in Porbandar (I don't remember the time). But then police commissioner gave full authority to police to control such activities. And the result is Porbandar is now safe. If commissioner would not have taken strong step like Gill then situation in Porbandar might have different.
ReplyDeleteIndians' (or you can say judicial system itself) this mentality is very bad. Sometime some law created to protect some objective. Later, this objective will be forgotten and the law itself will become god. This happened here. Objective was safety to citizens and for that administrator liberated something. But the media and other human right activists forgot the "objective" and worried only "human right".
ReplyDeleteDavid Headley had confessed about Ishrat Jahaan's Fidayeeniyat in the dossier given by FBI to Indian government, and this was on record until very recently when the KhanChrissite Supreme Command Council got to scrutinise the entire document and got the reference deleted. That reference was also deceptively deleted from the lengthy but fudged detailed record of the document released to media. Though this is a document of public interest and very pertinent to the court case distorted by allegedly ridiculously fabricated charges framed by CBI against IB and Gujarat police sleuths with the aim of getting to Narendra modis' neck, yet unprincipled home minister Shinde invokes the covenant of secrecy entered into with FBI to conceal the original untampered document from release to the public.
ReplyDeleteAs regards the "judgement" of the IB sleuth who made notings of Ishrat Jahan's alleged "mission assassination", it was not based on hearsay but on definite sound intelligence inputs. It was corroborated by other independent info's such as the Headley confession before CBI, and the fact that the male partners who were accompanying Ishrat had deadly weapons on their person on that fateful day of her death. efforts are now being made to "punish" the whistle-blower IB officer who leaked the info to gujarat police(Charlatan Central Govt home ministry is as untruthful today as perhaps then, in that it fudged the FBI Headley confession document and refuses to release the untampered confession to the public)for his conscientiousness and terrorise him with awe of the hangman's noose. Maybe the KhanChriss Queen Bee had secretly wished that Modi and Togadia got eliminated, after which ishrat could have been herself eliminated by the CBI to destroy evidence and kill many birds with one stone.
ReplyDeleteContrast the IB officers' informed judgement with the lunatic judgement of the police at IGI airport in Delhi under KhanChriss who detained a passenger on a domestic flight for deep interrogation on suspicion of being a saboteur after the pilot made an emergency landing because one air-hostess(maybe with a personality disorder) suspected her co-passaenger of being a terrorist just because he was spotted reading a magazine headline which said "Crash". The poor passenger himself turned out to be a security official posted in the north east. Imagine what torture would have been inflicted on him by the police if he had also written the word:-'crash' instead of merely reading it, as one of my friends had done while making notes with diagrams when another airhostess was briefing passengers on how to brace for a crash-landing.
The corporate imperialist anti-national media with foreign allegiance only harps on encounters that have been condemned by Western imperialist forces inimical to the interests of Indian masses. They do not raise an eyebrow at the horrenduous culture of gruesome torture and killings by the police engendered over four decades by successive corrupt KhanChrissite regimes at the centre and state levels. Remember nagarwala who had said he would give statement before magistrate the next day when interrogated in police custody for revenue violations? As it was felt his confession had the potential for incriminating JN Nehru's autocratic daughter, he was murdered that very night in custody. In late 1990's, a magisterial enquiry found that blood-curdling torture was in vogue in J.jail in Marwar in Rajasthan, with the blessing of a corrupt jail-doctor. Ordinary Prisoners were made to wear iron chains all over the body and thrown on the floor in 48 degrees hot sunshine until and unless their relatives paid "compassion money" to the jailors, they were routinely beaten and bludgeoned with iron rods after being covered with a blanket unless they agreed to perform sodomy with each other to entertain the sexually perverse jailors, a defiant prisoner was almost beaten to death and then thrown down to his death from the terrace after being covered with a blanket, yet the jail doctor (whose son ran a tea shop illegally in the jail premises)falsely absolved the police of guilt. The magistrate had recommended grant of permission by the government to prosecute the beastly policemen but such permission was never given. Why should permission from ministers/bureaus be necessary to prosecute beasts in the interest of justice to the masses? In Chandigarh area, Police chief Mr. Shenvi sent to custody (among others, allegedly a petty family gang from Madhya pradesh) a child as tender-aged as one-and a half year for alleged role in conspiracy to steal "Shagun bags" from marriage venues in banquet halls.
ReplyDeleteK P S Gill's speech is still relevant in today's context also. I feel Manio is one player only in this bigger game.
ReplyDeleteDo u Know About Namak Haram ki Haveli?
ReplyDeleteFrom my school days, i remember reading in (i think in The Statesman) about Namak Haram ki Haveli in Delhi. When Delhi fell to the Britishers in the 1857 War of Independence they announced a bounty for anyone turning in a rebel. A rich man of Delhi who owned a sizable haveli had indeed supported the rebels and his servant betrayed him to the British. The Britishers hanged the man and gave his haveli to the servant as a reward.
DeleteAfter a few days the servant complained to the British military commander that the neighbours were calling him Namak Haram (traitor). The Britisher, bright genius that he was, had teams of drummers announce all over Delhi that henceforth if anyone called this guy a Namak Haram he would be severely dealt with. In that way, before the sun set, the whole city knew about the Namak Haram.
But in today's context, with our traitors more educated and sophisticated, i believe the New Namak Haram ki Haveli is located in Lutyen's New Delhi. Look a bit closely at some posh well known addresses near Raisina Hill.

I Remember these line said by Jack Nicholson in the movie A FEW GOOD MEN
" Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post."

I have seen the movie every time I could manage for this dialogue only.
Very APT piece for SSP Sandhu's case.
I have always had utter contempt for Prashany Bhushan & his fellow "HUMAN RIGHTS WALLAHS"
Excellent recall....... from the picture.... by Jack Nocholson
DeleteThere are old trees in many Indian Jail, which have been used to hang criminals, corrupts and convicts. They will welcome these Namak Harams including Doggy Singh, Poodle Singh, PC Lungi. Langur Arnav, Monkey Khanwal, traitors Burqa and Devout Hindu, and Beefeater. No money or monkeying will save them. Their time will be up soon, Namak Harams should remember.
ReplyDeleteI never knew about this letter by KPS Gill.....in fact I think we as Indian citizens have been carefully cocooned into a state where we know more about ancient mythical history, than the very recent, much more required to be known history of the Indian state.....and so long as we are without knowledge of our own history, we do not have any precedence to view in proper light, the current turn of events.
ReplyDeleteRavinar, could you also write a blog on how media anchors try to float the failures of the UPA as merely a perception or a PR problem? I have seen that again and again. And its across the border all the time. Today I just heard Nidhi Gupta trying to convince Gurcaharan Das is that "is it just a PR problem?" That means the Govt is doing GREAT and that it is simply a matter of communication or perception or marketing that the Govt is lacking in. They float this false line again and again until they find some idiot to agree with them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the excerpts. Definitely very relevant today. I hope the the abyss we are sloping down towards sees a saturation and then bounces us back in the next election. It will be long before anycourse correction starts to take effect but I do hope that we start the course correction now.

ReplyDeleteThe Indian citizenship enjoins, rather orders, us to follow the constitution. Of course, our desire is to kill the man who killed my relative. But, the constitution doesn't permit me to do so. Anyone seeking those rights, the whole concept of a state funded police force is challenged. KPS was a paid employee of the govt of India, which has only one purpose - to uphold the constitution of India.
Either I accept the constitution or I get out.
Outside the constitution, lot of people use force to settle what they perceive as injustice. They are called dacoits.
Last night, I saw the movie entitled 'Mission Impossible - The ghost protocol'. Lovely flick. In that, a team of American agents were on a clandestine mission in USSR. Some cover was blown and the US president invokes the 'Ghost protocol', i.e. they decide that they disavow the actions of this team. If caught, the US will not accept that they are American agents. So, now the decision to go ahead with the plan or not is left to the team leader. He gets his guys together, explains the situation and says, 'You can opt out, now'. If they decided to still go ahead, it was on their own free will, not as a compliance to orders.
If you decide to kill not because you have officially been given the mandate to do so but because you get grandiose ideas like - ' Had we lost control over the district, Punjab's secession would have become an inevitability. Had we lost Punjab, Kashmir would certainly have followed. And once this process of fission began, every linguistic, ethnic and cultural group would have raised the standard of revolt. Pakistan would have been celebrating this 50th year of its independence through the realisation of its dream of a balkanised India - ' , you have to do so on your own.
So,why crib?
Oppressive Anglophile stooges of KhanChrissite corporate Western imperialism having superlative contempt for India's masses and their age-old inborn mindset of sublime virtuousity, though in a miniscule minority, grab military commander jobs as of KhanChris largesse and then shamelessly gobble up funds and perks meant for jawans via a most dastardly kind of corruption; they make jawans polish boots and buy lipstick for their wives under a most demeaning type of slavery tradition inherited as a legacy from British colonialism. They ban Hindu jawans from wearing Rudraksh on their person under the excuse of preventing inter-religious strife among armymen. They haul-up and court-martial jawans on charges of breaking army rules by convassing in their neighbourhood for NaMo if they try to enlighten their relatives and family members about KhanChrissite crimes against the masses. But these same officers bend the rules and make it legitimate for these oppressive armymen to take up HR jobs in corporates notorious for brutalisation of workers and commoner customers alike, not only post-retirement but during service tenure on the plea of generating PRODUCTIVE part-time employment for the army. These corporates are the embodiment of a very perverse value system as well as instruments of Western imperialism and by themselves pose greater danger to the unique Indian character and politico-economic freedom of the masses than any opposition political party. It is the corporate hunchos who write the script for Western military ravages across the globe. The sins these greedy and spoilt military commander hypocrites pro-actively commit against the Indian masses after undergoing moral brainwashing in these corporate set-ups can only be detailed in an encyclopedic tome. Aleks Asthana, who do you fool and what've you been smoking ?
DeleteToo big words. Who framed constitution and what were founding principles? How much reality was there in ideals preached in constitution? I for one neither enjoined nor ordered to follow constitution. I was rather forced to do so just because I am born. The only other option left was becoming rebel as you rightly mentioned. Do not preach me to fight it democratically. I will take few centuries.
DeleteI can counter with hazaar misuses of constitution by very same people preaching constitution. But it is useless.
You think witch-hunt of police for their actions during insurgencies is correct? Some of those actions could be wrong owing to over enthusiasm, wrong assessment etc. It may sound horrible but many of these police were trained to kill. Above all they operate under complete hostile conditions. We sitting in cooled rooms want police to be both humane and killers at the same time. For what? What do police get in comparison with any ordinary job in market? Still they have to risk their life and do not make mistakes. We start witch-hunt in the name of human rights. We do not even wait for judicial process to complete. We take it to media and brand them "murderers". Is this what constitution says? Humiliate someone even before guilt was proven?
Yep! Let us continue the same nonsense of human rights by vested interests. Soon we will see police also choosing to sit in A/c rooms than going field.
In case you are not informed, there is huge exodus from CRPF in last few years owing to maoist killings. Why should they give life for some idiots who preach constitution but protect none?
Dear Ravinar,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for bringing out such a forthright, eye opening and straight from the heart letter written by Sh. Gill, which otherwise ,we would never have read. The content of the letter, though disheartening but so correct that I could not resist my self from expressing my feeling. Your title itself summarize the whole issue. We(including me first) as a citizen of India are ungrateful to not only Sh Ajit Singh Sandhu Ji but also lot of others, who have sacrificed their lives, so others can leave peacefully. The couplet in the end of the letter rightly describe the frustration of not only Sh Sandhu and Sh Gill but also of many others who are still dying daily, though not physically, because of rampant unjust and ungratefulness prevailing in all sphere of our society. It is high time that rightful thinking persons, which I still assume are in majority dislodge the handful of corrupt and the correction mode should start from the money and power corridor first.
Stunned and speechless after reading the post! And ashamed..due to the realization that KPS's statement is not without truth.
ReplyDeleteHeart wrenching to read the story of A.S.Sandhu. When anybody says these elites from so called human right bodies must be shot, I would have no problem saying YES.
ReplyDeleteReaders might want to read the following writings by KPS Gill wrt the A S Sandhu:
ReplyDelete1) An article Mr Gill wrote in The Pioneer:
http://satp.org/satporgtp/kpsgill/governance/97june14Pio.htm
2) A letter that Mr Gill wrote to the then P.M , I.K. Gujral:
http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/kpsgill/terrorism/97PM.htm#
Probably the day is not far away when these NGOs,corrupt media and the congress will go for an 'inquiry' on the army who killed Pakistan soldiers in Kargil war.The CBI will then leak the "damning information" to Tehelka and NDTV.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I believe that at times democracy is having its own ill effects and at those times we need a little bit of dictatorship to make people come on a single agenda so as to stop these anti National Congress to Paid Media to Terrorist groups to fake NGOs to self styled Secularists to Christian missionaries to Vested Interests to China backed Communists to Caged Parrot agencies to Dynasty sycophants.
ReplyDeleteyou copied my thoughts and wrote them. yes sir, i believe we live in over-democracy. never good for a nation. i almost choked while reading what KPS Gill sir had said. no one bothers about state of the nation now a days. everybody in lutyens delhi is single mindedly in pursuit of his/her personal goals and vendetta. God save my India. and ya i am writing this from the confines of my ac room. but what can i do except working hard daily like a common man?
DeleteAnti-national elements ruling and ruining the country already have sold India to Arabs, Chinese, Europeans and Americans. Now the main parties leading UPA are waiting for the highest bidder to bid and take over the Sultanate of Delhi. After that there will be no Pawar, Gandhi, Yadav, Karuna dynasty left in India. They would go and live in USA, Europe or Me. The poor bugger Indians will be slave again.

ReplyDeleteRavi, Here is what I picked up from Facebook. #toogood #foodforthought
ReplyDelete"1. Hindustan Times – Shobhna Bhartia, owner and editor-in-chief of Hindustan Times is a Congress MP from Rajya Sabha.
2. Vinod Sharma, HT Political Affairs editor, is essentially a Congress spokesman on all TV panel discussions, because once his boss’ term gets over, he will be looking out for her RS seat next
3. Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi, famous Congress stooges (and intermediaries for UPA allies) who were exposed in the Radiagate scandal, and are virtual Congress spokespersons in their capacities as electronic media personalities, are the ones who write opinion and op-ed columns most frequently (once every week) on the editorial pages of HT. In return, Barkha and Sanghvi are rewarded with Padma Shris and other monetary compensation by the Nehru dynasty or Congress party.
4. NDTV’s promoters are Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy. Radhika’s sister Brinda Karat is a famous CPM leader (well known for anti-Baba Ramdev views) and Brinda’s husband Prakash Karat is the CPM Politburo General Secretary (well known for preferring Congress over BJP). And Prannoy Roy’s first cousin is the famous far-leftist pro-Maoist-Naxalite pro-Kashmiri-terrorists “intellectual” Arundhati Suzanna Roy.
5. NDTV’s Barkha Dutt’s reality has already been exposed by me in above section.
6. NDTV’s Sonia Singh is the wife of Uttar Pradesh Congress MP, Union minister and ex-princely state ruler, Mr. R. P. N. Singh, who is one of the fastest rising stars in the Congress party. If you remember, Sonia Singh is a very high-profile anchor on NDTV whose pro-Congress anti-BJP bias is legendary.
7. NDTV’s Nidhi Razdan (high-profile anchor of Left Right Centre) is the current girlfriend of J&K CM Omar Abdullah (after Omar recently divorced his wife of several years and mother of his two children, Payal). Nidhi Razdan is also famous for her legendary pro-Congress and anti-BJP bias.
8. CNN-IBN : Rajdeep Sardesai’s wife and co-promoter of CNN-IBN, Sagarika Ghose, who anchors Face the Nation and is famous journalist of CNN-IBN (well, her hubby is the owner-editor-in-chief after all) are famous Congress stooges.
9. Sagarika’s father Bhaskar Ghose was a famous sarkari babu and was made the chief of Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan) during Indira and Rajiv regimes. Bhaskar Ghose was well-known for personal loyalty to the Nehru dynasty, and now his daughter and son-in-law are rewarded with their own channel to do Congress propaganda.
10. In fact Sagarika’s extended family even consists of her aunts Ruma Pal (former Supreme Court justice and a close friend of the Nehru family) and Arundhati Ghose (former diplomat and Indian ambassador to various countries, predictably, under Congress regimes).
11. Let’s now come to another famous CNN-IBN media personality who also writes columns frequently for Hindustan Times — Karan Thapar. What you may not know is that the Nehru family itself is related, through blood and marriages, to the high-profile Thapar family. India’s Army chief during the 1962 debacle against China, Gen. P. N. Thapar, is brother-in-law of Nayantara Sehgal, the daughter of Vijaylakshmi Pandit and niece of Jawaharlal Nehru. Gen. Thapar’s son is pro-Congress journalist Karan Thapar. Gen. Thapar’s sister is Romila Thapar, a famous “top” typical JNU Nehruvian communist ideologue historian, who gets to write our textbooks and pollute them with pro-Congress Marxist propaganda.
12. The HIndu – The Worst – N. Ram, owner and editor-in-chief (till February 2012) of The Hindu, was once a vice president of the Students Federation of India. SFI is the students’ wing of the CPM.
13. P. Sainath of the The Hindu (acclaimed journalist well known for his, again, unsurprisingly, typical left-wing Nehruvian communism ideology), is the nephew of Congress politician V. Shankar Giri and the grandson of V. V. Giri, ex-President of India and famous Congress politician. Giri was especially known to be one of the first few staunch loyalists of Indira, and whom Indira fielded for President elections against her own party’s Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, and who ultimately became the cause of the first high-profile split in the Indian National Congress into Congress (O) and Congress (I) — almost all the pre-independence regional stalwarts split away to join Congress (O) or form their own state parties, and the rest including Giri (all the loyalists of the Nehru family staying on with Indira).
ReplyDelete14. Or even what about little known News24 Hindi media channel? Owned by ex-journalist and editor Rajiv Shukla, famous Congress MP in Rajya Sabha, Union minister, industrialist, BCCI vice president and IPL chairman.
15. Or even what about little known Lokmat (and IBN Lokmat) that is Marathi newspaper (and channel) in Maharashtra? Owner and editors-in-chief are the brothers Vijay Darda (Congress MP) and Rajendra Darda (Congress MLA in Maharashtra, and minister in state govt).
16. Or even the other bigger and smaller media houses, such as The Times of India and Indian Express, where the Nehru dynasty has managed to infiltrate its loyalists such as Dileep Padgaonkar and Shekhar Gupta, who are essentially paid stooges of the Congress party.
17 Vinod Mehta - Outlook editor has been well known to take anti BJP stand
The Congress (in fact just the one single family — the Nehru dynasty) has been in power for 56 of the last 65 years of independence. This matters a LOT. Personal relationships have been built, blackmail-worthy secrets have been spied, monumental wealth has been accumulated … all by the one single Nehru dynasty (and its family-business-cum-political-party aka Congress) that helps it maintain its tight irongrip over not just the entire Indian mainstream media, but also deep into our bureaucracy, our governmental institutions, and even our journalism and mass media colleges and grad schools.
We have probably not even scratched the surface of the network of family and personal relationships through which the Nehru dynasty has completely dominated and controlled the entire intellectual, historian and journalist landscape of India. And we haven’t even talked about the monumental wealth or the blackmailing secrets. All because the one single dynasty got to rule over India for 60 years uninterrupted. It matters a LOT.
The typical JNU Nehruvian communist left-libbers ideologues have really perpetrated some kind of stranglehold on India’s journalism, media and intellectual space.
Almost all opposition (or even centre-right ideologues) journalists have been slowly thrown out of their jobs due to pressure from the Congress and the Nehru family.
Even the great venerable Ramnath Goenka, frustrated and broken by repeated I-T raids and ED investigations ultimately had to fire Arun Shourie twice from the Indian Express, which was once the best Indian newspaper in the 1970s and 80s. That was the team — Goenka the owner, Shourie the editor, and S. Gurumurthy the fearless journalist, that brought political heavyweights like Indira Gandhi down on her knees and even took on corporate honchos like Dhirubhai Ambani. (Ramnath Goenka inspired the Mithun Chakraborty character and S. Gurumurthy inspired the R. Madhavan character in the Ambani biopic “Guru”.)
ReplyDeleteBut very few centre-right ideologues are left in India’s media space today, that too in minor publications like The Pioneer. Almost all the mainstream media houses have been thoroughly infiltrated and coerced into towing the Congress’ line, sometimes just through ideology and relationships, and not even money power.
The Congress party essentially owns and controls every single mainstream media house in India, including Hindustan Times, The Times of India, NDTV, CNN-IBN, The Hindu, Tehelka, Outlook, etc"
My request to all the nation-loving readers.. Time has come to make people realize calling urself HINDU is not a taboo as media and congress have potrayed us ..we need to understand the fact hindus ( sikhs + jains + buddishts + and so called sc/st brothers ) got just one home india bcoz muslims forcefully and with bloodshed converted half of the world islamic and rest is painted with christianity and we hindus hv to suffer burden of being secular in our only home ..why ? why ? india cant be a hindu country ? secularism was forced upon us ..to all so called seculars here read quran and u will find islam spews bloodshed and evil..see what is happening in syria , taliban , iraq etc do u want our country to become like that ..and i bet u these so called polite and moderate muslim leaders here will turn into real tyrants and reveal their true colour of evil when they get their numbers and presence increased.. we suffered from years of being ruled by foreigners bcoz we hindus were sleeping .. wake up before its too late ..dont get fooled by these congress and jdu , shameful ppl who call terrorists as bihar ki beti...
