A Motherlode Of Lies - Part 1

Politicians across the world lie and lie regularly. Perhaps it’s a professional skill required of them. But once you are in high offices like the President, Prime Minister or even a Chief Minister one expects some decency and honesty and to rise above the level of ordinary politicians to be truthful about your life, issues facing the country and policies being made. Narendra Modi is perhaps the only govt Head in the world whose lies just keep on growing right from his personal life to his political life. His entire life seems to be built on a foundation of half-truths, twisted concoctions and often extreme lies.

George Washington, one of the founding-fathers of the US, the first President of the US who also was a General that led the US in its fight for independence against the British made this statement on September 17, 1796 (September 17 also happens to be Modi’s birthday):

That extraordinary comment by Washington is filled with foresight and wisdom. Modi’s rise to power is largely due to the Congress corruption and a large number of Hindus voting for him wholeheartedly taken in by his promises and falsehoods. After becoming PM, Modi systematically worked against Hindus and exceeded Congress in all forms of appeasements, doles and abuse of govt institutions like ED or CBI and also a reckless abuse of Hindu temples for votes and reinstating the draconian SC/ST Act through which innocent Hindus are summarily arrested in fake cases. That makes Modi a very dangerous character who has not only betrayed his core voters but also turned BJP into a den of the corrupt and the worst scumbags from every other party. All this without making one single policy or scheme specifically for the betterment of Hindus in general while he doled out all kinds of Revdis for Muslims and others.

LK Advani called Modi a brilliant “event manager”. That is true. Modi is a great event manager and all his events and road shows have great choreography, actions directed by a script and ramp-walk style movements, hand animations but that is understandable if your life is full of lipstick. Modi has gone far beyond event management for votes or publicity. He has actually created “fictitious events” around his life that are logically false and also happen to be unverifiable from any real source. In this series, we will take a good look at all the lies that Modi has concocted and peddled over the years and why this “Snow-flake” person is perhaps the most dishonest man and a spectacular LIAR in politics across the world.

#1 I sold chai:

This is perhaps the biggest lie peddled by Modi. It’s a fantastic concoction of a fake rags to riches story that would put mafia wiseguy Henry Hill in “Goodfellas” to shame. Many RTI queries reveal there is no record of Modi selling chai but I don’t expect such records from the 1940-50s to be available for chai-stalls at every station. The govt does give out written contracts to all vendors at railway stations but maybe in the 1940s-50s there was no such practice. His own brother claimed that while their father had a tea-stall, Modi didn’t sell any tea. Modi claims he had sold chai from the age of 6. Throughout his tenure in Gujarat as CM, there was no such chai-story. This suddenly came up only during the LS2014 campaign only after that foulmouthed Manishankar Aiyar remarked Modi is fit only to sell tea outside Congress HQ. There is no circumstantial evidence or anecdotes from peers of Modi from Vadnagar who ever claimed he sold chai during his Gujarat days. This fake chai-story further morphed into “I was gareeb” by Modi, which is again a falsehood and lie as we shall see.

The reasoning for this is, Vadnagar was not even a tiny station in the 1950s and hardly had any train traffic to be selling anything at the station. It could not have been a livelihood for anyone. It is possible, though, that Modi’s father may have had a tea-stall somewhere outside the station but that doesn’t still prove that Modi sold chai. The audacity of Modi’s lies is, he even went to on to claim he sold chai on trains, sometimes got slapped for giving cold-tea to passengers. Any customer can feel the glass and know whether the tea is cold or hot to pay for it. And NO! People don’t go around slapping kids because the tea was cold. Another great LIE! This is then further escalated by a bombastic claim that a chaiwallah selling tea on trains knows more about railways than the railway minister:

#2 I was gareeb:

This is another big LIE. There is nothing in history as evidence to prove Modi lived in any kind of poverty or suffering during his childhood or thereafter. In fact, compared to most people in India during the 1950s and 1960s, Modi lived quite a comparatively comfortable life. While a vast population of India, even after independence, would have never had a photo taken and many may have not even seen a camera, this liar was constantly in western suits, bow-ties and acted in dramas. Most children in India at that time wouldn’t have seen a camera and wouldn’t even know how to wear a tie with a proper knot but Modi was skilled in such pursuits:

It is not just these lipstick pursuits of dressing up as a Westerner that poverty-stricken Modi appears in. He also claimed his family accommodated a guy called Abbas in their house and paid for his school education. Really? That is because Abbas’s father had died and he had no resources so Modi’s family became his family. What kind of poor family adopts someone, shelters him, gives him food and pays for his education? Modi’s own lies are not well-rehearsed. When you tell lies, you have to rehearse your stories properly and not be contradictory in your lies.

#3 I slept at railway station:

Modi adorns his lies about selling chai to a higher level of abject poverty by claiming he slept at a railway station. He claimed this in a speech in the Parliament of all places:

As already stated earlier in this post, Vadnagar was not a station with any great traffic. Even today, Vadnagar has just about 3 or 4 trains passing through. These are mostly passenger shuttle trains operating between Mehsana and nearby towns. It is after Modi became PM that a few more trains have been added to this route. Modi did not sell chai, was not poor and there is hardly any cause for him to be sleeping at a railway station that didn’t have any kind of traffic to speak about. All his fantastic lies are concocted to paint himself as “I was gareeb, didn’t have food, sold chai for a living from age 6, slept here and there like a homeless beggar”. Each time he speaks, Modi elevates his previous lies to a higher level. There is nothing and no reason why Modi would have been compelled to sleep at a railway station as you will see in the next LIE!

#4 I didn’t have a proper house:

With that kind of statement, you would naturally assume the person either lived in a shanty or some “jhopdi” in a slum. This is exactly what Modi claimed when giving out the AWAS Yojana houses to some at Solapur. This is another fantastic LIE. But if you look at the old house of Modi in Vadnagar, it was a PROPER HOUSE and not some shanty. Yes, it is indeed very old now and looks fully depreciated. This is natural for a village house like this after some 70-80 years or so. But this would have been a proper house, perhaps even better than what most villagers had in the 1950s and 1960s for anyone to claim he didn’t have a proper house:

I don’t know if the AWAS Yojana houses are some 5-star luxury houses that Modi seems to claim he wanted when he was a child. But all evidence points to the fact that his house during his childhood was certainly better than the matchbox-AWAS houses that the govt is building. However, I appreciate the fact that the GOI under Modi is working towards housing for all but to turn it into another “victimhood” story is what this crass, dishonest LIAR does. He lived in a proper house, had a proper family, they sheltered and fed Abbas and even celebrated with grand food on Eid with neighbouring kids (according to Modi). So NO, he neither slept at railway stations nor lived in some slum. Modi lived in a proper house that most Indians did not have during the 1950s and 1960s.

Since the LS2014 campaign, Modi’s lies have grown exponentially. Smaller lies have grown into a mountain or new lies concocted to promote an image of eternal “Victim” of gareeb or hungry or homeless. This series of dishonesty will continue.
