The Fool's Secularism

The word ‘routine’ is not a very adored term. It has often been substituted for anything that is ordinary or mundane. Routines are regular procedures and practices that are almost performed as second nature. If you look up the net there are even sites with help to get out of routines and make life more exciting. Take a look here or here for samples. If you’re bored with routines I hope they help. There’s even a ‘Brainy quotes’ page which is a collection of famous people ridiculing routines.

Reality is a bit different though. In reality routines form the backbone of our lives. Traffic rules are routine but imagine one fine day we said, dump those rules. You can imagine the chaos. Which shoe do you wear first? The left or the right? Check next time, you’ve probably been doing it all your life (wearing the left or right first) without the slightest thought to it. Most of us marvel at Army marches. We are amazed how their legs and arms move in such synchronised manner. To them, that’s routine. For us, it’s a wonder. They have been trained for it and they practice it every day. It is in that sense that Secularism is a routine. Being a backbone of our lives, secularism needs to be maintained and practiced. Soldiers don’t fight big battles with their marching skills. Do they? At best that routine organises them for the battle. In much similar fashion secularism by itself does not win any battles. But many of our fraudulent politicians have been selling this product (in a fake form). Take a look at some of the chief perpetrators of pseudo-secularism:

Remember, these are only some samples. The top row consists of the prime permanent criers of “Secularism is in danger” a la “Islam khatre me hai”. The bottom row consists of the Macaulay Family members who are the prime movers of this fakery in the media. A long time ago I wrote the post “Excessive secularism is as dangerous as religious fundamentalism”. In that I quoted the renowned Mark Tully: “Excessive secularism, which feeds the fire of people who like to present India as a country that does not respect its majority, is just as dangerous as religious fundamentalism”. This is the outcome of fake secularism practiced by all the parties that are now up in arms against Narendra Modi. One Congress member has gone as far as threatening to kill Modi and there has already been an attempt once in Patna.

Sharad Pawar who had met Modi recently in Ahmedabad was probably rebuffed and now he calls Modi “deranged”. This Pawar is the same guy who said “wipe ink, vote twice”. Mulayam Yadav says “We will not let BJP succeed in making Modi PM”. The churlish Nitish Kumar in an interview asked Arnab Goswami “how is Modi going to handle relations with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka”? You know, as if the current govt is on a bed of roses with these countries and this is a prime concern for voters. But the Pak and BD reference is more to suck up to his Muslim voters and not out of any serious concern. Pawar in a rally added “country cannot be handed over to Modi”. What is that supposed to mean? Is the country some farmland to be scammed and given to Modi? The people and their votes will decide who will get what. But let’s look at the latest moron who wants to challenge Modi. Here’s a Johny-cum-lately called Rashid Alvi who wrote to his Bossini Sonia Gandhi:

If the pic is not legible you can read it here. Now, go through the letter very carefully. All that Alvi claims is that he wants to protect pluralism and secularism and STOP MODI. There is nothing on one single issue of Varanasi that he wants to represent. That’s the poison that these guys want people to drink: Fake Secularism. They call Modi all kinds of names which are then repeated like a box of parrots by Rajdeep, Sagarika, Arnab, Barkha and all the channels 24X7. The names they call don’t even have any relevance to anything Modi may have said or done which would have made some sense at least. The only objective of these so-called secularists is to somehow stop Modi by hook or crook. And the more they scream the more they endear Modi to the public. Is the media far behind. Here’s the Category5Moron who is permanently on a Muslim trip whenever there is an election involving Modi:

From the December 2012 elections of Gujarat to now, all that Sagarika has been doing is whipping up Muslim hatred for Modi. And these aren’t reflex responses by the Muslims she meets; she provokes them with questions spiteful of Modi. Secularism demands that people be seen as one nation under one roof. Politicians may act divisively but why should media morons act divisively? And when rapped for such illegitimate behaviour all that these fools can do is cry abuse. In the context of such fake secularism what Modi says resonates with people. He says whenever the Congress and its clones are asked any question they wear a “Burqa of secularism”. The Congress scams are unbelievable in terms of money and the sheer nonchalance with which the party protects its corrupt ones. A summary of its Himalayan corruption looks like this:

Perhaps the fear of Modi is that he will seriously set up SITs and fast-track courts to prosecute the corrupt filth. And this must be done if this country has to send a clear message of intolerance of corruption and the corrupt. Sonia Gandhi, who the media treats as if she is the new Mother Teresa, behaves like she has no taint on her from all these scams. Both Sonia and her “Balloon” son Rahul go around the country talking about corruption. With what face does the media let these two pass without a single question on their corruption and their giving tickets to corrupt members? Whenever the question comes up, like the Congress the media also points to only ONE member of BJP: BS Yedurappa. Whether Yedurappa is corrupt or not courts are yet to decide and in some cases he has been exonerated too. How the media finds equivalence has to be the biggest scam in India.

Secularism is a routine practice and not an issue on which any election should have ever been contested but the Sickulars and the corrupt media have brought it down to this level. I consider myself a secular person but except for the media discussions or election season it doesn’t cross my mind even once. People brush their teeth and have a bath every day. It makes them feel good, clean and freshened up. But that doesn’t guarantee them luck, job or food. Routine hygiene is a “maintenance” job for the body. Secularism is a maintenance job for a society. It need not get any premium. No one deserves to be rewarded for being secular; certainly not with a vote.

As an Amdavadi I know of the history of water problems in the city and state. Till 2005 or 2006 almost everyone in the city faced a water problem (especially those living outside the municipal limits). The bores would dry up and frequent drilling deeper would be done and so on. There were days when there was no water at all and people borrowed a couple of buckets from neighbouring societies which had some supply to get through the day. As it got worse, the only option was regular purchase from water-tankers. All that ended around 2005-06 when the Narmada waters flowed through the Sabarmati. There has never been a problem since then and most households have 24X7 water. Now nobody talks about water anymore. Nobody talks about good roads anymore; it has become part of routine life. No one ever knew when the autos had turned CNG. No one talks about it. No one talks of bus services. It has become routine. When basic facilities become routine then residents think of higher planes. Not having to struggle with these basic issues gives them the time to rise to other accomplishments. What the hell does all this have to do with secularism?

It is in the absence of the very basic performance as a govt that many of the sickular political parties resort to the chest-beating of “secular, secular, secular”. Secularism is a prostituted word as Arun Shourie said and many people have been fooled with this nonsense for over four decades. In one of his books Bill Gates narrates an anecdote about MS Word software. I am quoting from memory and it is not the exact verbatim quote: “When we gave WORD, people said we want colours. We gave them colours. Then they said they wanted word-count. We gave them word-count. They said they wanted multiple languages; we gave them Chinese, Japanese and so on. They said they wanted spell-check. We gave them spell check. We can give people all the tools in Word they want but we simply can’t tell them how or what to write”.

That’s right, one can be given all the tools in MSWord but the software can’t tell you what or how to write something. That is true for secularism too. Secularism is a tolerant way of living but it’s not a cure to disease, it’s not a cure to hunger. Secularism doesn’t eliminate backwardness or poverty. It cannot give anyone employment. The Congress and its clones have fooled the country long enough with their fake secularism as a solution to people’s problems. This is the fool’s secularism. Change is inevitable and no matter how much these parties and the media try to make the debate secularism vs communalism it is increasingly dawning upon people that this is a fake debate. Development and progress can be felt and seen. A country’s progress and power is driven by people’s aspirations not by the fool’s secularism. This election season people should listen to the real debates that will seek to meet their aspirations. I am not a big fan of the Shiv Sena but for once I have to agree with their hoarding.

  1. The public discourse in our country ( driven by crooks of media and politics ) is rotten. If Muslims and Christians were to continue to vote for congress and its allies - even their allah/god will not be able to save them from continued penury and this country is damned . Some of these journalists holding critical positions of influence on public discourse will also have to be sacked . There is so much to do , yet we seem to be stuck in some rut

    1. The 'Crooks of Media is rotten', BUT NOT MEDIA CROOKS! So when I was reading your comments did fathom it, but yes indeed you are right. Its a long journey, and there is no penance for the very leaders (I ashamed and twitching my tongue) for very same leaders and boldly saying the very populace, who for reason of ignorance, greed, made the choices. Is it over, NO I don't think so.

  2. Well said Ravi! The highlight of this article are these lines: "Secularism is a tolerant way of living but it’s not a cure to disease, it’s not a cure to hunger. Secularism doesn’t eliminate backwardness or poverty. It cannot give anyone employment"
Only people like NaMo (among politicians) understands the true meaning of secularism...I think his message is reaching the common masses and the huge attendance in his rallies is a sign of it...

  3. Ravinar, this the masterpiece from you, needless to say more will follow. Man, I'm at loss of adjectives.

It is very evident that C5M is spreading hatred, why can't BJP take her to courts? Isn't there a legal cell in BJP, in our state DMK and ADMK has a separate cell to file defamatory case against each other. I'm literally pissed off with the way BJP handles MSM.

    1. A rhetoric becomes malaise just as an idea becomes a mantra, through repeated use. I second the idea of dragging these miscreants and anti-nationals to courts on the drop of a hat. What is the legal cell of BJP waiting for? When these morons can cook so much of filth out of Modi's all out best efforts to quail violence in 2002, isn't it sufficient to nail them in court that such filth is still sought to be sold even after courts have cleared him?

  9. I think sickularism is a statement of political correctness, which is a traditional weakness for all Hindus.Somehow these Hindus are so fond of applause from some imaginary gallery of virtues, and the cunning politicians find it easy to take them for a ride.It was Nehru who inculcated this habit of self criticism as a virtue and most hindus have fallen for it.Like how a father blames his own son if somebody powerful on the street harms his son, and the father is too weak to take on the offender. That is the only way the father can save his honour. The world saw through this ploy of Nehru, and rightly so neither him nor his mentor were able to win a nobel for peace for all their antics.I am surprised that many Hindus are still willing victims for these charlatans.

  10. Further, secularism is a policy that brings max returns with virtually no investments.KhanChris knows that other means to uplift the teeming millions in this country need enormous investments. With what is left after the scams, it is impossible to do so.So the best way forward is the policy of secularism. The target group is the majority community who traditionally stick their heads out to be slaughtered.

  11. It is but appropriate that such a marvelous blog has appeared on 'All Fools Day' to remind those of us who have been had for decades by the Congress, its 'B' teams and its MSM presstitutes. If ever there was a Rip Van Winkle in India who suddenly woke up now and switched on the TV and read newspapers, he would definitely believe that BJP is the ruling dispensation, that NaMo has been ruling this country for decades as a ruthless dictator and that all ills plaguing the country are because of him! Most of us have been Rip Van Winkles and are now thankfully going out in the world to seek / know the truth. A good substitute is to just read Mediacrooks!

"This, Chidambaram put down to the 'deep flaws' in Modi's character. "Modi has deep flaws in his character. No one in the BJP points that out to him. He cannot resist making derogatory remarks," he said. ducked under secularism.

  31. Truly impressive, as always. The MSM parrots used 'secularism' to increase their viewership / TRP. Who is C5M? Who will follow C5M or for that matter any of the Macaulay Family Members if only 'routine' stuff was to be shown and no ‘secularism’ shows or talks? Did any of these current day MSM morons come up by intuitive journalism or sheer hard work like Arun Shourie, M J Akbar, P Sainath, B G Verghese and Kalki? Would we ever compare C5M, BD et al. to any of the above “Journalists”? The answer is no. Hence the MFM needed some ‘non-routine’ stuff to prop up their personal recognition and viewership for their MSM. And here was the so called ‘sickular’ politician who wanted to talk about ‘secularism’ every time he / she had to face the common man for vote or just to carpet a corruption charge. The MSM sponged it. MFMs practiced it, became experts and were even “awarded”. The very essence of ‘reporting’ and ‘journalism’ is lost on these morons, the moment they had bias.

These media people are intellectually barren, morally corrupt, and utterly despicable creatures. They have neither common sense, nor any iota of decency in them.
India, as a nation is rapidly decaying and deteriorating. We are facing a serious crisis, and the job of media is to address it. But they seem incapable of any thought or reflection, and are just propagating mass hysteria.
The need of hour at this juncture is to recollect our hearts and mind together, to be daring in thought and action, and to approach problems holistically.

I have many Muslim friends, when i shake my hand with them or hug them i never really felt any difference. They are my brothers and so do we are to them. Generally on April Fools' day, people indulge in harmless pranks and have lots of fun by attempting to fool one's friends, acquaintances etc. But you have departed from the norm and managed to 'unfool' people by exposing one of the longest running CON job called Secularim perpetrated by politicians, media and self-certified intellectuals.

Noboody, but nobody in India has given such a simple but enlightening explanation for Secularism that immediately stuck a chord with the reader. From the first line, you took me through a journey of self-discovery helped in no small measure by your beautiful anologies.

But the response of the state government,MLAs, mp is that of businessmen. Tanker mafias are on the rise in Pune, marathwada region and that too with the political support. Last year the issue was raised by some newspapers but they were suppressed. And as everyone knows, this tanker mafia link ultimately reaches to the pawar family. 41. Rightly put. The way our media pays attention to debates regarding secularism, it seems they are trying to make people believe as if it is a lone big problem india is facing. Congress and its allies, as elections come near, have started using secularism as a cover to protect their corruptions and mischiefs, because after a decade's rule they don't have anything to make loud claims for, except lousy and money wasting schemes like NREGA. I guess we all agree with the fact that secularism should be a routine in a society and not much hype be created about it. I am a Gujju and i doubt there has been any scheme, order, notice or an announcement of government in Modi's rule which devides the society by religion, or which have any negative impact on secularism. Congress has tried to garner votes on this issue in past 3 assembly elections in Gujarat, but they failed. The people of Gujarat have taught a lesson to fake seculars that secularism is a non-issue in Gujarat. Now its time for people of India.

Secularism has been cunningly planted into Hindu psyche to keep us divided, confused and defenseless while Islamic marauders and Christian missionaries trample over us generation after generation. and Congress continues to do that till date and whenever some nationalist or patriot managed to reach at the top of it - they were made to resign or they were suppressed like 'Subhash Chandra Bose' and 'Sardar Vallabbhai Patel'.

    continues :

  55. and continues :

Just think of it - Britishers had full control over all mediums of communication and infact - they were the ones who were running it. they used to decide what is to be published and what not - who is to be made 'Hero' or who is to be made 'Villain'. so Congress becoming the 'talk of the nation' was absolutely their brainchild and Gandhiji the 'Hero' was their handiwork.

    and continues :

  56. and continues :

yes, India needs to get rid of Congress because then only India can remain in one piece and Indians can live in peace - but work has increased bit more now as lot of Congress leftovers have spread all across India - so they need to be decimated as well.

well - no problems at all - we are ready even for this.

    regards

  57. Great Work Brother. Well done keep it up and raise the bar of Journalism. Thats exactly what I think about secularism. India is secular from time immemorial. And still people are made fool that "secularism is in danger". Its like saying a person, that on wearing X colour pant , his walk may be in danger. Non issue in this country is the biggest issue exercised by sycophant party and its offspring and still people took these many years to reject them. Thats what is called Kismat. Maybe in our nations chart , it was 67 years of sade saati.

  60. Hi Ravinar - an excellent analysis. Even the most simplistic village moron in our country has some basic questions to ask Congress guys on their monumental scams but the media wizards never dare question them on their scams. Like duds they meekly accept congresswalahs equation of congress scams with BSY of BJP. On top of that the MSM is on such a vicious pan India villification campaign against NAMO that I sometimes wonder how he is standing up to such an onslaught day in and out I say "hats off" to him and his great team of supporters like you.

As we advance more towards D day, more and more morons are getting panicky.Refer to A K Antony's cry in his back yard to Marxists to join hands to stop Modi. This Antony who has deliberately messed up our defense and safety now has no agenda for his ministry or nothing to report. He wants to stop Modi.We are experiencing strange phenomena.Only the diminishing tribe of secularists are crying hoarse.Rest of the country appears ready to welcome Modi.

  64. Great write up Ravi. The morons who claim to be secularists are all opportunist. Look at Farooq A. What the hell he was doing with NDA? I recommend Pawar painted black with ink so he look not so ugly like YY or Ass-Hu-Tosh or Pradhushan or RS.

  65. The secularism agenda is a fraud on Indians which the Mainstream Media is playing out ( paid or otherwise ). They are doing so to confuse the electorate. They have done so for sometime now. Whilst personally I have stopped following Mainstream Media ( newspapers, magazines, TV around political news ) for over a decade now, I do feel extremely agitated at the way Indians , especially the so called urban, politically aware India continues to be either stupid or deliberately convoluted.

Sonia Gandhi appealed to Muslim Leaders to ensure that the Muslim vote is not split ; and the Imam of Delhi made an exhortion accordingly. It is a pity that Congress still seems to be in the race in some states and is fully supported by lassos in Media. And the public discourse is awfully skewed against Narendra Modi by the media ( in this election season, I am tracking some of these just to know who the traitors are ).

It is not that I eulogise Modi neither am I a very hardcore follower. No. But then it is elementary that as of Now he is the best administrator , a nationalist and a popular Leader amongst the options available.
So why not give him a chance ???
why is media deliberately confusing the electorate ?
Why is media distorting the public discourse ?
Why is Media not patriotic enough ?
Why do they want to prevent Narendra Modi from becoming PM?
Why are they overloading the Indians with lies, half truths, diversions ??

Worser Travesties ( than the 2002 riot , which incidentally was best managed by Modi ) have happened ( including the recent Uttarakhand tragedy where over 7000 hindu lives were lost due to sheer mediocrity and incompetence ) and yet Narendra Modi is villianised ? Why ?

The truth is very simple. They are all scared of Narendra Modi ( and I am now more or less convinced that He will become PM definitively this time.. no ifs or buts; I can sense some divine force at work ( finally intervening ) to set right the destiny of India. The club 160 be damned !! And if I have to eat my words on this , then I would leave this country for good.). They are scared of his honesty and no nonsense approach. Every other leader on fray has compromised at sometime or other. It is only him that is unscathed.

And he too now is going about his agenda with clockwork precision ( despite congress creating hurdles in his schedules ). He is ignoring every nonsense that is being thrown out on him by all and sundry. And that is the way to go.

I once again pray and appeal to all indians .. Vote for Narendra Modi. Vote for BJP. Vote for NDA allies. Spread the word. There is no other alternative. Narendra Modi deserves a chance in 2014. ( and yes, I know most followers here at this site are Nationalists and Value the importance of Narendra Modi ) But do spread the word. It is no time for debates or arguments. Tell people that if they make a mistake this time by not voting him, then they can very well write off their well being and prosperity till the next elections.

    continued ....

    1. As an incentive and encouragement , There is one assurance that I can also give. If BJP gets 272 on its own.
The value of rupee would immediately appreciate to either 55 or even 52 to a USD almost immediately.
The stock market indices will appreciate ( even from todays level ) by a minimum of 20%.
And these on their own will have an accelerator and multiplier effect on economy.
The sentiment would improve considerably and that will create a momentum on its own.
and if the gujarat model were to go by , there would certainly be a 10% improvement even in industrial growth and agricultural sectors
Plus given Namo's proven commitment to federalism, there would be a possibility of balanced equitable growth across India

There are many countries which are weary of India rising to its full potential and they are working round the clock ( thru Media, political parties ) to prevent the possibility of Modi becoming PM.
So the onus is on every Indian to destroy their vile schemes by voting enmasse for BJP. Otherwise one will be deemed as Anti National ( one cannot play into the hands of the enemy countries and yet call oneself an Indian Patriot !!! )

Also where possible become BJP volunteers to prevent rigging of elections by anti-national elements. And get good people along also to help BJP in this final leg towards Su-Raj of India.

Do it for yourself. Do it for India. If any educated Indian still casts his or her vote to any other party ( Congress, AAP , SP, BSP et al ), then not sure what to call such disgraces. Even if one is a Muslim , Christian or of any caste within Hindus, it is time to cast away all difference of religion, caste , linguistic pride etc , rise over petty issues and vote on the best bet for prosperity . It should be a complete white wash of Congress , Commies and Criminals ( SP, AAP, BSP, DMK, TMC, AIADMK ,Jagan Reddy etc ) . Jai Hind.

PS: My apologies for this long post. Could'nt hold my thoughts after seeing the farce being perpetrated by Congress , Imams and Media in the name of Secularism.

    2. I wish to add one more incentive. If somehow Modi does not become PM, then Muslim appeasement will be further encouraged. Every party and even some BJP leaders would try to appease muslims. I did not use the term minority appeasement because muslims only does not represent minorities in India. What about Jain, Buddhist, Sikhs and Parsi? If Modi becomes PM then every party will shed appeasement policy and concentrate on development and good governance.

I will try and answer the questions you posted about our media, and government.
They are scared of bringing modi to the center only for one reason.
He will raise the standard in india. Standard for politics and standard for life.
That is what the congress is horrified about.
see the poor in india are like frogs in a well, the water may be dirty, their lives may be crap and full of danger. For them they feel the rest of the world is like this. until of course someone comes along and changes that perspective, they show them that look there is a better life out there and that same person delivers and extra standard of living.
      A new benchmark gets set.
Now if the congress government comes to power again and the standards go down, people will notice and will say no we want the old standard back. This is what politicians are scared off.
One good example of this i can give, is the national High way.
I dont know if you would notice but after the national highway was built, the average road quality of roads in cities and rurals actually improved, because people were traveling on the highways they started demanding better roads in their neighbourhood.

  66. Dear Mr Ravinar,
I am posting this here because I could not find your email id. I remember you once posted a video of a child getting his hand amputated under a car, as mandated by Sharia. I tried to search for it to use as an example in a debate with my friends and I discovered that the video is actually of a street stunt pulled off by performers.
Even snopes has cleared it up: http://www.snopes.com/photos/gruesome/crushboy.asp
    Kindly look into it.
    Thank you,

  67. I hope BJP & Modi are keeping a close eye on the electronic voting machines, which are likely to be tampered / hacked like Khangress did it in Year 2009 elections.

    1. i dont understand why they dont enhance the voting machines. it should not be fixed buttons with labels on them.
Firstly the labels should be digital and the order of the buttons should change for each person.
I say this because in my town where i was, the khangress had paid off a booth, where the instructor would tell every one that "you should press the first button to start the machine then press the button for the party you want to choose"
      The first button was Congress.

  68. Politicians basically do whatever they have to, to get in power. "Secularism" is a great formula in India because of unity (and strong religious identity) amongst 20% of Muslims, and rampant disunity and absence of any pan-Indian identity amongst 80% of Hindus in India. Ultimately in a democracy people get the government that (majority of the) people deserve. That is the sad truth.

  69. Make no mistake about it, if Scamgress mafia party gets back to power through any dirty tricks/back channel tactics, they will take out their revenge on the educated middle class, which is, by far, the greatest engine behind BJP/Modi's rise. They will make life as hell to the middle class Hindus and I dare say they may organize a genocide (a la Bangladesh 1971) to teach us a very hard lesson.

I advice to all friends over here to convince the credulous Hindus who still bask in glory of imaginary "secularism", that a dark fate awaits for all of us if we do not bring Modi to power this time. Secularism cannot be preached by surrendering human dignity and it certainly cannot be practiced once you are dead.

  71. Communal Hands of Congress
    =======================

Departing from traditional Congress sycophancy, Inder Malhotra (who was earlier the political editor of The Statesman and later a resident editor of The Times of India) has authenticated the widely-held belief that the late Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale had been promoted by former President Zail Singh and Sanjay Gandhi with the consent of Indira Gandhi. At that time, while the Congress headed by Indira Gandhi ruled the Centre, the Akali party governed Punjab.

Bhindranwale was promoted by the Congress in order to divide moderate Sikhs led by the Akalis from the fundamentalist fringe encouraged to support Bhindranwale.
Thereby, Indira Gandhi sought to weaken and oust from Punjab the Akalis. It may stun people that in the pursuit of a short term political goal, Gandhi could sink to such a low political level.

In fact, she did much worse. She actually gave the go ahead to the demand for a Khalistan state in order to further her political design. This scribe was privy to sufficient circumstantial evidence to conclude this. At that time, before the formal demand for Khalistan had been made, the late Jagjit Singh Chauhan accompanied by Balbir Singh Sandhu visited my residence to acquaint me with their proposal. They said that they intended to formally announce the formation of Khalistan from the precincts of the Golden Temple.

1984 Anti-Sikh Pogroms took place in India after the assassination of Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984. India's Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by two of her Sikh guards acting in the aftermath of Operation Bluestar.

Over the next four days nearly 3000 Sikhs were massacred in systematic riots planned and led by Congress activists and sympathizers. The then Congress government was widely criticized for doing very little at the time, if not acting as a conspirator, especially since voting lists were used to identify Sikh families.

The then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, son of Indira Gandhi allegedly made a statement emphasizing the importance of his mother, while discounting the death of thousands, "When a big tree falls, the earth is bound to shake" on the Sikh carnage
    I
n 1985, Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi gave in to the Muslim zealots in the Shah Bano affair overruling a secular court's decision. Months later, Rajiv restored the balance by giving the Hindus something as well: he ordered the locks on the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid in Ayodhya removed.

Ultimately Rajiv Gandhi has not acted neutrally as a Prime minister and played communal cards that led to destruction of Babri Masjid

  72. See the list of National awardees last 2 years, one of them is Sagarika Ghosh. If these people deserve a National award what does a soldier, Air man or a Marine deserve when he sacrifices his life. Does he deserve any thing less than what Sachin got - who played Cricket all his life in the security of the Nation. In that standard every Jawan sacrificing his life for the Nation deserves Nothing less than BHARAT RATNA. Where as the Government forgets the welfare of the family of the jawan, the moment the cremation is over.
